Hi again, guys. Hope you're all. Well it's mid February now and we had just had a week off for half term here in England. And it's quite a nice time just to check in. It's been about six weeks since the new year, which is probably when we talked about setting targets and new goals and trying to stick to them.
So just a little bit of inspiration and a reminder. We can check in with our goals. Now, did we achieve our six week goal that we wrote down six weeks ago? Have we actually done that? Are we exceeding it? Oh, did we not quite. Managed to do it or did it not even start it yet? Any of those answers are fine, and this is a good opportunity to kind of just recap, reassess, maybe zoom out on that tapestry picture and see are we still heading in the direction that we wanted to head in?
And also, are you having fun with it as well?
That's something that's quite important. Have you done that thing that you've said, well, that's not the main thing I want to do, but it would be really fun to check out. You know, for example, country music, or I'd really love to check out that finger style that a certain person uses or whatever it may be. I find that quite a lot of times, I think in my head.
Oh yeah. I'll definitely check that out when I get time. But for now I need to, you know, focus on the most important thing, which is my proper practice. And then that time to have the fun never really comes around. Cause you always doing something cause you always think, no, I'll just focus on the main thing today. So it's another chance just to kind of stop and reassess and maybe. Why don't we just go for that fun thing?
Can we find time this week to do that? Maybe we'll schedule in some time on Wednesday or Sunday. I think Sunday is normally quite a good time to do those kinds of activities. It feels like you can do your proper meat and potatoes kind of practice in the week. And then on Saturday night or Sunday, you don't feel so bad about veering off the track a little bit.
I think sometimes, you know, the thoughts are bigger than reality, whether it's positive or negative. On the positive side sometimes, like I find, I like to kind of geek out quite a lot and get quite excited about something. And jump three steps ahead before I've actually even started doing it yet. Like recently, it was playing darts in the pub.
I'm like, oh, we had let's buy the best darts. Let's I'm imagining like what we could achieve if we. By adult board and how good we could get and all the rest of it. But then we don't actually play darts off in any way. So it's kind of the idea in my head, on the positive side, it was much bigger than the reality. But likewise on negative, sometimes you can be thinking, oh God, such a daunting task.
That is we have to really put a lot of hours in and I don't really want to get started. It seems like too much of a mountain to climb, but then actually once you start, you think, oh, that was easy. Sometimes I find that with my work and I think, oh, I've really got to do this things. It's going to take ages. And then once I get started and before I know it, I get, get stuck into it.
A bit of time has passed without even realizing. And then the job's done and you say, oh, that wasn't so bad. I spent a week dreading it and only half an hour. And actually in the end, I quite enjoyed it. So yeah, sometimes that can happen as well. So my main point after waffling, there is just to kind of, let's get, let's get into it, you know, whatever that thing is that you wanted to do. Let's do it this week.
There's a good chance to kind of reassess see where we're at and go for it.
One idea as well, now that we are kind of six weeks in. It's to make a little time capsule. So you can look back on it again in six weeks time. So for example, you could just talk to the camera and say this is me practicing. Whatever it may be. Currently, I'm struggling a little bit with this section and I'm finding that the chord changes are tricky and I can't quite get my hands to sync up or whatever it may be. But, you know, just show it.
It's only for yourself. You can just talk honestly, to the camera. And then in six weeks time, you can look back on it when you've practiced again and go well. That seems easy to me now. I kind of forgot that six weeks ago that was tricky and that can be something that's quite motivating as well. And can kind of help continue our growth
And if you've been listening to this podcast, since the start. There's been a lot of different things thrown out there, you know, rhythm games, ideas. I've talked to her about, you know, the micro-actions we've had interviews with other people. You've given ideas about what we could best do goal setting, being disciplined Duolingo before, you know, it. Feel kind of overwhelming, like I've given too many things, so you don't necessarily need to be doing absolutely everything.
I see. But again, this is a good time, six weeks in to just kind of reassess and just remember, oh yeah. I've been meaning to do those with them games, but I never actually did it. Can I build that into my practice routine? Or maybe you think I've been doing everything games for six weeks now, it's time for me to move on and do something else.
So it's really just quite a quick episode this week, just to say. Let's stop. Have a think. Reassess. We've done a good proportion of work now, six weeks work, and we want to look ahead again for the next six weeks. And then we will have done three months before you know it, and then we look at our six months goal.
So now it's just a chance and a reminder to check in. Reassess. But also if there is a couple of things that aren't on your main hit list, if you like, but you did want to get around to them. Let's try and just make sure we do do that. And you know, sometimes just taking a step back can really help.
Okay. Just a short one here. We'll be back again next week with some more. Advice and more. interviews and things like that as well. So thanks for listening and I'll see you again soon.
