A perfect remake can still be a weirdly empty experience. We start with Moana and argue about what a live action remake is supposed to offer when it sticks to the animated original beat for beat, right down to the vibe, the songs, and the casting choices. If you love Disney, you will recognize the split instantly: comfort watch versus “why did this need to exist?”
Then we jump to Supergirl and get picky in the best way, because sometimes the actor nails the role and the movie still feels off. We talk about choppy editing, messy segues, and why noticing the craft is usually a sign something broke. From there the tone turns sharper with Obsession, a movie we respect while also admitting it can make you want to delete every dating app on your phone. We dig into obsession as a character flaw, the ethics of control, and how a great performance can make an uncomfortable story land.
We also circle back to our AI conversation after reading comments that challenged what we said. The result is a more grounded debate about AI creativity, prompting, and the real issue of money and power shifting away from artists, plus a quick detour into Comic-Con planning, Roosevelt exclusives, Vegas side quests like Area 15, and translating internet slang like “no cap.” If you enjoy honest movie reviews, pop culture talk, and messy-funny real conversations that still hit big topics, you will feel right at home. Moana Remake Takes
SPEAKER_00You're welcome. You're welcome.
SPEAKER_01You would like it.
SPEAKER_04It was a 1-1 remake.
SPEAKER_01Lou would love it.
SPEAKER_02No man, I still can't get over his hair.
SPEAKER_04It was fine in the movie.
SPEAKER_02If they made it like the cartoon where it was short, you know, kind of like triangular on his head, instead of that fucking Fabio look, that I just uh. But it was good casting, though.
SPEAKER_04Like the rock, I believe Rock was the Maui. That was crazy. He might have sang you're welcome better than the guy in the cartoon.
SPEAKER_02I was gonna say, was the voice a little bit matching at least a little bit?
SPEAKER_04Yeah. It was uncanny. That man deserves an Oscar. Sweet. He would not. Did you know that the girl playing Moana is Captain Typho's daughter? Isn't that crazy? Yeah. I do know that, because you told me three times. Because I told you. But no, it was fine. It was a one-to-one remake. If it's the only Moana you've ever seen, then you're fine. There's nothing wrong with the movie at all.
SPEAKER_03But also if you don't see it, you're not missing anything.
SPEAKER_04Exactly. If you've seen the cartoon, you're happy with the cartoon, you're fine. The live action didn't do anything different or new, which would make Lou happy since he's down to one-to-one remakes.
SPEAKER_02If you're gonna do it, do it that way.
SPEAKER_03Alright, Lou's got his Tuesday movie. Right.
SPEAKER_02Maybe. I don't know. Man, I gotta check the times too. Cause old girl asked earlier today, are we doing a Tuesday movie? And I was like, I don't know, I ain't looked yet. I got this shit going on. And then I looked and it was like Tuesday Lou's problem.
SPEAKER_01For real. Sunday Lou doing work and shit.
SPEAKER_02But I looked, I did take the time, and it was like, wow, there is really first of all, like the with anything that's maybe, the times are off. So I I couldn't watch I couldn't watch it anyway, unless I want to watch it like a 10 at night or something. So I guess that's that. So it was like, God, there's like nothing I want to watch. So I was like, this sucks. Wait, did you watch Supergirl? Yeah, yeah, Supergirl was fine. You know what's you know what's funny? I still hate Supergirl as a character. Uh I'm glad she kind of is getting better towards the end, you know, as a character. The actress, she killed it. She she made that movie. She was she was a good portrayal of what they were doing for that supergirl. She ain't Helen Slater. Well, let me let me not mistake anymore. I mean, who is, honestly. Right.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But I thought her playing playing that role as an actress, she was really good at it. Um, so yeah, I mean, the movie itself, choppy as hell. Fire the editor. Um that the first half hour, it was just jump, jump, jump, jump, jump. It was like, what is what is going on here? It got better towards the end, but early on, well, yeah, once everybody's linked up and there's nowhere to chop to. Uh yeah, their segues were not good at all. And that actually stuck with me. Um, and you know it's a problem if the editing sticks with you, because that's shit you're not supposed to notice. That cinematography, screenplay, those type of things, backdrops, you're not supposed to notice any of that shit. I noticed the editing. Uh, but other than that though, I I don't know why this movie Bond and is gonna lose $200 million the way it is, because overall, it's fine. I still don't like the whole Wolf Cub situation. But what are you supposed to do? It's like can you have something like that?
SPEAKER_04That's a very popular trope right now.
SPEAKER_02It is, man. But let her go on her own journey. We don't need this other side story going on. Just let her do her thing. Lobo was wasted. Good character, you know, just to introduce him. Good cat.
SPEAKER_04To get him in there.
SPEAKER_02Get him in there and tattle on Kara when Kara, when uh when Man of Tomorrow She shanked that dude twice. That's gonna be a problem. And Lobo's gonna rat her ass out.
SPEAKER_01Like it was cool as hell. He should have seen her.
SPEAKER_02I don't know why people are talking this movie. It wasn't great. It's probably a six out of ten. Um, and that's fine.
SPEAKER_04But it was a particularly serviceable superhero movie.
SPEAKER_02Hey, for sure. Look at who was right.
SPEAKER_03Look at who you need to listen to going forward, Lou.
SPEAKER_02That's what I'm saying. I'll let I'll let I'll wait till you watch Moana then, and then I'll get my Jack already gave his.
SPEAKER_03Hang on, I'll let me download the animated version. Yep, Lou, it's great. You'll live it.
SPEAKER_00Oh shit.
SPEAKER_04Um yeah, so But yeah, no, there's no movies playing right now. Everything is like it's chill. Like Odyssey comes out and then Spider-Man. I don't think anybody wants to go up against those.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, like there's nor should they, let's be real. Nor should they. I mean, Odyssey is gonna make 700 million. It'll break even at the box office uh with the budget after marketing, and it'll be a disappointment because it didn't make a billion dollars uh or a billion and a half, but it'll probably still be a decent movie. I mean, y'all gonna have to tell me on that one too, because wait, wait, woke, I gotta say it every five minutes.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's what it got. No, you didn't say it as a German woman, it doesn't count. Volk Vulcan.
SPEAKER_02I was gonna say, yeah, how would I even say that as Vulcan? Is that what it is? I forget how it's gonna be.
SPEAKER_04I saw it.
SPEAKER_03Louis I still haven't seen it. Louis yet to see it.
SPEAKER_04Um it'll be on Peacock on the 17th, Lou. There you go.
SPEAKER_02Oh well, there you go. I was gonna say down the world. You know what? I'll be honest Tuesday.
SPEAKER_03There you go. Hey, that we didn't even we stayed here. We stayed here and watched it at the house on Wednesday. So we didn't even go to the theater to watch it.
SPEAKER_02So yeah, it was available like a a week and a half ago
Supergirl And Superhero Fixes
SPEAKER_02for watching.
SPEAKER_03Digital yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um that commercial is just tripping me out, that freaking girl, man. I think I said it last week. Well, I watch her lime! It's like, good lord, what the hell, freak?
SPEAKER_03She, I mean well, we'll I'll wait until you see it before we do like a full all three of us.
SPEAKER_02But I Well, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Give me, give me, give me the trailer version. Like, it's so that so the girl is going to suggest Wells. Yes.
SPEAKER_01No. Yes. Hmm.
SPEAKER_04It's not of her own accord, though.
SPEAKER_02Wait, the the guy Y'all don't agree, so I can't watch this movie. That there it is right there.
SPEAKER_03No, no, no. See, so it's it's a move like the obsession is like layered because the guy the guy at the beginning, the guy in the trailer, he's the one that actually has the obsession, right? But he can't act on it. He doesn't have the social or um maturity skills to be able to health healthily in a healthy way communicate that obsession with the girl. So he manifests, yeah, yeah. Basically.
SPEAKER_02So he manifests with somebody. There's no healthy way to share that. That's not healthy in itself.
SPEAKER_03But he is well, so I just mean he's obsessed, he's obsessed with her as far as he really likes her, but he doesn't know how to communicate to her, and he's also missing other people who do want like him and want to be with him because he's so laser focused on her. So that's what I mean by like he has like an obsession with her, but he's not like sitting out in front of her house, type of thing. It's I'm doing things I don't like to do, I'm going places I don't want to go to, you know, you call me, and my mood goes from you know dour sadness to joyful happiness, right? Type of thing. Like just not a healthy, he he he wasn't he's not in a good healthy spot at all through any of this. Um it's not healthy, that's and and then the the one wish willow comes into play. And so then the then what he basically wishes for is that Davis is in this movie?
SPEAKER_01Yes, yep.
SPEAKER_03He comes in, eat you da um he he taps on the door with his staff and then he gives then the guy gives him a cookie to eat. Um maybe so so he uses this one wish willow to basically to make basically make her feel about him that he feels about her. Like, so he's bas I mean, and that's not giving anything away because that's in the trailer where he's like I want her to love me more than anything else in the world, right? And so then so then some uh depending on how you watch how you read the movie and how you you know you take away her uh her character throughout all of that. Um yeah, so I'm just gonna leave it there because then stuff happens. And I thought like, did I enjoy the movie? No. Was it a really good movie? Yes. Does that make sense? Like, yes, yeah, it's a movie at the end that makes me go, I never want to go on a date again. Like, um, but the girl who acts in it, she fucking killed it. Like, she like I don't understand how she's really not done any acting outside of Superman and Lois before this, because she did a really, really good job of kind of playing the schizophrenic um What's your role in Superman and Lois? Um I never watched Superman and Lois, so I don't I yeah. I I don't know, but that was what I when I was doing a little research afterwards, I found out that she that's her only other really big notable acting gig is is Superman and Lois. So uh but she also likes streams and stuff, so she's like a nerd, she plays video games and shit like that, so is the other thing um that I think she's kind of known for.
SPEAKER_02But no, she did a fantastic jack over there getting wet over a girl playing video obsession.
SPEAKER_01You know how to play Call of Duty. Um my wife.
SPEAKER_03But no, I I I didn't enjoy the movie, but I appreciated the movie. It was a very good movie, it was a really well-produced movie, but I don't think it's a movie made him uncomfortable. He's not it's like Joker, right? Like like Joker, in my opinion, the first Joker movie was a really good movie, but I didn't enjoy watching it because of the topics and the way that they were handled. But it was a very good movie.
SPEAKER_02That was one of the things, I don't know if we talked about it already. That was one of the things I liked about Joker was the fact that that movie, that story, needed to be told, and if it wasn't for it being a Joker movie, it would have never been made. Because that topic is basically off limits. Yeah, yeah, yeah. They wouldn't have gone there, but because so it was like, no, I'm glad they did what they did.
SPEAKER_03I'm not saying that I'm not saying anything that they did was bad, much like an obsession. But it was one of those things. Yeah, you watch it once and then you're like, okay, I'm good. I don't need to, I don't need to own this on DVD.
SPEAKER_02So uh I guess I'll find out in five days.
SPEAKER_03There you go. But uh yeah, no, it was both of us, uh one of my movie uh watching buddies came over and we watched it together, and both of us were like, it was a really good movie, but yeah, we don't ever need to watch this again.
SPEAKER_04You do because they're gonna have the un unrated version soon. Oh, is it gonna be on peacock Peacock? I don't know.
SPEAKER_02I said it was supposed to be the digital one, but it was not, so if y'all see me waving a towel around or
Box Office Talk And Obsession Setup
SPEAKER_02something, that's me trying to kill a flying bug, because I hate flying bugs.
SPEAKER_01And there's one over here, I see it. Get it, Lou. Get it, Lou. Gotcha, that's his second one.
SPEAKER_03That's his gooning towel, everyone.
SPEAKER_02What is that? What is gooning? I've heard that phrase like for like four months. I'm like, what the fuck is a gooner?
SPEAKER_04It's when you're by yourself and yeah.
SPEAKER_02Seriously?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that's what they call it now.
SPEAKER_02Man, I'll knew it as a slur for Asians, man. That's the only way I knew that.
SPEAKER_03What? No, that's that's not that's what the K, bro. Yeah. There's no There's no N in that. There's a K, exactly.
SPEAKER_02No, no, you guys, it it's it's a 70s, 80s thing. Um, and it's a it's a slightly.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. No, not the Asian thing. Everyone jerking off the chunk.
SPEAKER_02That's not what it is. Gate is my favorite. And then the other one is people who mispronounce gunners for Arsenal uh soccer team in London, English Premier League. They call them the Gooners sometimes instead of gunners. So that's the only the only context I heard it. So I'm like, what the hell is this now? What is it? So somebody gooning means they're self-gratifying?
SPEAKER_03Yes. That is Gooning may be most simply defined as the state usually achieved after a prolonged edging session when a man becomes completely hypnotized by the feeling radiating from his penis. Since a gooning state can only be achieved after edging, the man's dick will have become mightily aroused at this point, and every crest the male genitals are subjected to will trigger potential potentially leasing. There you go. There you go, Lou. There's the official urban dictionary definition of.
SPEAKER_04In case anybody didn't notice, we are back on our bullshit. Yep. No more uh AI intelligent conversations.
SPEAKER_02Did we not get wait? You said there was a comment that we got that wasn't Little Girl for the first time in a year.
SPEAKER_03First, we've had 57 views, which I think by far is the highest viewed. Yeah. The highest viewed.
SPEAKER_04Isn't that better than our first episode?
SPEAKER_03Uh our first episode might have more, just but I think that's also been length of time, too. Like it's been up for three years now, right? Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Two. Two and two months. Two and five months.
SPEAKER_03Um but they also got uh I think Lou uh Lou create Lou's like, oh, is there comments? This was Lou's comments. This is his shadow YouTube account. The comments are if you ask any AI to make Black Santa, it will.
SPEAKER_01You guys don't know how AI works.
SPEAKER_00And then nobody's never professionals. Ain't nobody's never professionals.
SPEAKER_03And then they followed up. And then they followed up with AI re Yurizes, Yurizes, Yurizes images a reference.
SPEAKER_04Uses But that's what we said. If you don't give AI the image, it can't create something from the.
SPEAKER_02So Yeah, I was trying to make a point that the same way humans do the same thing. How do you know how to draw a fucking vampire, the stereotypical vampire, unless you've seen one that somebody else drew? Crazy concept.
SPEAKER_04That person But he can't make a black Santa if he's never seen a black Santa.
SPEAKER_02Has he seen a black man? Has he seen Santa? What are the features of Santa? Convert that shit over.
SPEAKER_04But if you only gave AI white Santa, he couldn't make a black Santa. He doesn't know what black looks like. He didn't know what a black guy looks like.
SPEAKER_02Well, that's yeah, if you just had that, correct. But if he if you had a taught AI what a black man is, I mean, don't use me because I was just happy we had comments. Yeah, but they're from dumbasses. They didn't pay attention.
SPEAKER_03That was Lou saying that for the person out there who doesn't know how to spell uses.
SPEAKER_04So I mean wait, hold on. If you click on the um audio version on YouTube D, bro dropped us three paragraphs. Oh, no shit. Really? All right, here we go. Interesting. Oh god, I got it. Same dude or same dude or different combo. So interesting combo. I think the anti-AI guy hasn't played with Chat GPT enough to understand what he's up against. Most people don't understand how genuinely creative you can be with prompting. I think I agree more with the other guy. AI is just a time-saving tool. The AI stealing jobs are moving money from artists to billionaires, oh heaven yes. That is a social problem. Not an artistic problem with the technology. I think the resistance to the tech is led by personal politics, but this leads to drastic understatement of AI's capacities. That was one paragraph. Next paragraph. You wouldn't feed F AI episode one footage and ask it to create Darth Vader. It would know the entire episode one context from your history already. It would already be familiar with your style, the universe style, and the Jedi and Sith are, how theme and story work. This is a space opera monomyth, and it knows that often better than George Lucas does. What? What you would actually do as a writer or a costume artist or director, whatever, I need a perfect villain character, an evil mystic general of authoritarian space regime with a mysterious backstory that is relevant to the main space opera plot. And you would go through page after page of ideas, then select one, adapt it to taste, generate a backstory, generate visual elements, costume, his relationship with the Emperor, and it fall falls into place. You just save buttloads of pen and paper time. You totally get ideas as good as Darth Vader and Baby Yoda and Dexter Jetster. Dex wow, that's a good idea.
SPEAKER_02He put that hip in the same sentence in them two. Wow.
SPEAKER_03Bam. I mean, I I get his point, though. If he would have said Ben Quaterneros, I would have given him an upvote, but he didn't, so he gets no upvote.
SPEAKER_02Wait, that's paragraph two, or still one more?
SPEAKER_03That was three.
SPEAKER_04No, that was it.
SPEAKER_03That was whole that was his whole spiel.
SPEAKER_02I don't I dumb data. I mean, he took the effort to jump in there. And he dogged you and credited me, so that's good.
SPEAKER_03Then you could go give him a thumbs up with your shadow account. Yeah, Orc Woman69. Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_02Shadow account. More more black jokes. Thanks, dude.
SPEAKER_04June's over, bruh.
SPEAKER_02June and February over. It's done. It's Lou hunting season now. We need to throw it in two off the calendar, have a 10-month calendar. No June, no Fab.
SPEAKER_01Just saying you want to work two months less, Lou.
SPEAKER_03No other comments, though. This is literally the only one I think. Those are the only episodes. But you know what?
SPEAKER_04At least they waited until the end of the episodes. We didn't do that shit till like the middle end. So they had to watch everything, all of our other bullshit leading up to that.
SPEAKER_03Fine, I will give them an upvote. I'll even go give the other one an upvote just because I appreciate the fact they took the time to comment.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and I and I get what he was saying with the with even in the whole Dexter Gexter thing. It was like uh wow, but I get it. So it was like, all right, that that person put together an intelligent uh and and also the other person was right.
SPEAKER_03The other person was right. We do not know how AI works. Oh, yeah, 100% that was the whole conversation. Didn't we preference? We're three dumb people who don't know anything about anything.
SPEAKER_04Look, we're on year three of a dick and fart joke podcast, okay? So if you came in here looking for intelligent conversation, you are on the wrong podcast. Yeah, you don't get with the last episode. But thank you for coming back and thinking we're gonna say something smart. Especially this is 21 minutes in, so we already got the view count, so it's fine. Yeah, we already got the mid-roll.
SPEAKER_03We already have the mid-roll, the mid-roll ad, so we're good. Yeah, we're good.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. But uh yeah, dude. That that that just cracks me up. Yeah, I don't know nothing about AI. It's like, yeah, that was kind of the point why we're discussing it, because we didn't know it. We're just gonna figure out all the hypothetical shit we were talking about. It's because we didn't know it. Duh.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. All we do up there was smarter than us. Hey, as Lou likes to say, do your own research.
SPEAKER_02Exactly. Exactly. Don't let the headline get you too.
SPEAKER_03Do not take anything that we say with anything more than a green of salt. Preferably.
SPEAKER_04What was the title of this episode? The AI slop argument? Yeah. So you want to call it? That's what it was. Yeah. Oh my god. So that was a catchy headline. And they're like, hell yeah, AI. And then they had the Lindsay.
SPEAKER_03They're dumbasses. So now we just need to make every episode just the AI slot problem.
SPEAKER_04Whatever 382. Whatever the hot topic is this week, it'll just be that. It'll be Lindsay Graham. Man, maybe Mitch McConnell died. The podcast.
SPEAKER_02Because the Republicans have to basically skirt their own rules that they made so it doesn't trigger the extra election and all that. They're trying to avoid that. So we're not like, hey, no, no, no. We're not saying he's dead until we get to August 5th or whatever date it is, August 7th or something.
AI Slop Debate After Comments
SPEAKER_02Um was that? Not that there's anything important on August 7th.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, it's my least favorite day of the whole year. Bullshit.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's the day when you find out that your girls really don't give a shit about your ass. Right.
SPEAKER_04Oh. I will say Lindsey Graham being asked by a reporter how Mitch McConnell is doing, and he answered, I don't know. I'll go check on him right now and then dying.
SPEAKER_03I saw something. Uh I should, I I'll send, I'll see if I can find the picture and send it to you guys later, but it was the picture, the the like the picture, the the proof of life picture that they put out for Mitch McConnell. And he's like sitting next to a lady who has his hand behind his back. Like he's sitting in like a hospital bed. And then somebody like drew a line of her arm like going up like he's a like it's a hand puppet. But it like it boot puts like a U into her. Like again, it's just being funny, but it was just parties going on over there. It looks like a hostage photo, I think is what they titled it.
SPEAKER_02Wait, yeah. They couldn't have full light on it. Just a good point. You're like, we'll talk about whatever the hot topic. I don't know what the hot topic. I've been so busy doing other things with work, especially. And then moving. So, like, what's the hot topic? What I missed is uh World Cup, I guess. Shit, I don't even I I paid attention to some of the World Cup. Like, I know France's sorry asses are in it. It's one of these things where I know France is good, but I hate them. You know, it's like, alright. Um it's it's it's just it is what it is. I just don't like France. And then I hate every South American team, so fuck Argentina for winning.
SPEAKER_01Um shit, I don't know. England and Spain. All right, here we go. Worrying about Comic Con. That's what I'll go.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, Comic-Con. Yeah. I I know I'm not there yet. I'm not there yet. I know, I know you're all about it. This is about the time it hits you. When the schedule schedules out, the whole thing. I ain't looked at anything. I got too much going on. Um I'm not I can't sit here and say I'm broke, so that doesn't matter because I'll have money to spend, so that's not a big deal. But it's like uh, or I will when I get there. Uh but it's like, yeah, I think part of it is there's a whole lot of stuff I don't want. It's like um still I still got like four things that I want, and that's it. This might be like Inver Comic Con. Well, I go to hit damage.
SPEAKER_03Did you guys see anything about the McGregor fight? Or I mean the McGregor three second.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_0269 gave out.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02He does a kick and dislocates his knee or something.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, something like that. Yeah, his knee just buckles and then the guy jumps on him and beats the shit out of him. Wells on him. 60 seconds until they call the fight.
SPEAKER_02Um that's his own fault for not tapping out.
SPEAKER_03Lionel Messi once bathed baby Len uh Lemonine Lemine? Yamal. Now they could face off in the World Cup.
SPEAKER_02The yeah, the Spanish dude, 18-year-old. I hope not. Um England needs to beat Argentina.
SPEAKER_03Taylor Swift has already paid back New York City for the wedding security. Uh McDonald's teams up again with BTS for BT21 Happy Mill Toys. Hell yeah. BTS, bruh.
SPEAKER_01Yep. See, you know.
SPEAKER_04Acting like you don't know. Oh, behind the scenes at McDonald's, what?
SPEAKER_01Nah, Lou knows. Are there female minions? What'd you say? I said, are there female minions?
SPEAKER_03Co-creator and voice of minions explains. Because he said girls aren't that stupid, so I mean it's true.
SPEAKER_02Girls aren't doing it. No.
SPEAKER_03Thin mint donuts are going to be a Krispy Kreme and Girl Scouts collab. Oh, I saw those at Walmart.
SPEAKER_02Thin mint donuts?
SPEAKER_03Thin mint donuts.
SPEAKER_02Yep.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, they're at Walmart already.
SPEAKER_02I like mint chocolate chip ice cream, but doing it in a donut just seems I'll I'll try it once, you know. You know how it is, right? You gotta try it once before you actually say you don't like it, but it don't sound good, that's for sure. But I'd try it at least.
SPEAKER_04That's what Lou said when he dated a trans woman.
SPEAKER_02Why are you putting my shit on blast?
SPEAKER_03Sorry, Hugh, sorry, Hugh Grant, sorry. There is a there is a Dunkin' Donuts Eagle.
SPEAKER_02Look, man, trans woman or woman, you do analysis the same feels the same. I'm just saying. Except for when it's your turn.
SPEAKER_01Uh let's see.
SPEAKER_02And you just look at like top ten news like what happened this week.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_03Uh Eminem's is cutting two colors from certain bags. And Mars attempt to only use natural food dice, two candy-coating colors didn't make the cut. So they are taking they are taking blue and brown from some bags as part of its transition. Wow. Racist.
unknownA lot of people don't like the brown ones anyway.
SPEAKER_03So again, it's a most important thing. Lou, I hear it's an acquired taste.
SPEAKER_04There are no more brown MMs in the South. Everybody else has brown MMs. No more in the South.
SPEAKER_02There's this line that some people used to call. And below that line, no MMs that are brown.
SPEAKER_03A runner was gored in the face at Spain's San Fermine Bull Run Festival. Good on the bulls. Good on the bull.
SPEAKER_02Right. Oh, gorilla was at a rodeo today, and I was like, I'm rooting for the bull. It's like Betty White, man.
SPEAKER_01I'm rooting for the movie. I guess there was a what was that movie called? Lake Placid? Lake House? Placid Lake? Placid Lake. Yep.
SPEAKER_04Was Betty White in the I don't even know.
SPEAKER_02That was the one where she's she has like the cottage on the edge of the lake, and then they're all talking about her, and she's all like, I'm rooting for the crocodile. Typical Betty White fashion. Lake House is Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves. The time shifted. Oh, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Fellow passengers pulled back a man who was partially sucked out of a dislodged airplane window on Friday a few minutes after takeoff on a flight from northern Greece to Germany.
SPEAKER_04That was some janky ass web airline I never even heard of. They probably bought some old spirit planes. Ryanair? Yeah, they're a European.
SPEAKER_02The passenger saved help save the dude, but his wife didn't.
SPEAKER_04She was pushing.
SPEAKER_02Right. It's like, oh, oh no. Oh no, he's getting sucked out. Oh, he's getting sucked out.
SPEAKER_03Let me try my shoulder. We'll bring it back in. As she's calling the insurance company. Uh former NBA star Lamar Odom expected to enter a plea deal in the Las Vegas DUI case. You know about that? Yeah, that's a good thing. That was a long time. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. That was a long time.
SPEAKER_01Can't believe that's still a thing. That's our U.S. court system. Mm-hmm. Um Dead baby is found in a portable toilet at a music festival in Michigan.
SPEAKER_03That's kind of cool. I was gonna say that was kind of shitty, but then I was like, uh You know what?
SPEAKER_01That that's that's just resource control. Okay, that's fine. Yeah. What a quiet weekend. Jelly Roll files for divorce.
SPEAKER_02Is his wife not attractive or something?
SPEAKER_01She's okay.
SPEAKER_04Um when he was an alcoholic drug addict, though.
SPEAKER_02I didn't know he was that, but yeah, she had his bat.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And he's just like, uh, peace out.
SPEAKER_01Yep. My bitch.
SPEAKER_02Dude, just all he had to do was just keep her around, turning into threesomes. He still could have had his cake and eat her too.
SPEAKER_00Whatever.
SPEAKER_03There was a America 200 America 250 commission uh sealed and uh buried a time capsule to be that's gonna be buried in Philadelphia and dug up 250 years from now.
SPEAKER_01Umbody can be on this planet if they do that. Wally will. He'll hook us up. Okay, Wally.
SPEAKER_03Oregon donated a She Who Watches pin. Nevada donated a battle-borne document, the Nevada State Museum commemorative coin, and a set of gambling chips and tokens. And Colorado Colorado
Weird News And Pop Culture Hits
SPEAKER_03donated a proclamation from the governor, a collect a commemorative coin. Colorado connected currency and postcards from Colorado. Nothing woke.
SPEAKER_02I'm about to turn off my own podcast. That's boring ass news this week.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, it is. Don't shoot the messenger.
SPEAKER_02Man. Damn, world. Get into some more.
SPEAKER_03So let's get on to something more exciting. Lou, how much stuff is left in your house? Look, he still has a Steelers blanket. He just does a Steelers blanket in the couch.
SPEAKER_02Couch is last, so that couch will be there. Let's see what's left. Bedroom, let's see. Clothes, uh TV tray that has my fan on it, because it gets hot in there. I got, I think. Oh, and a little side table. Like an and that I'm using as an end table. Because the end tables are gone. So that's it in the bedroom. The cupboard only has a big ass stockpot, and then the food that I'll have for the next couple of weeks. Everything else is gone. Kitchen cabinets, the food I'm gonna have, and then some Tupperware. Everything else is gone. Walls, nothing on the walls anymore. All the pictures are down. Only four more need to be taken. A tiny bookcase, only because the microwave is hitting on it. Nothing is in it. Yeah, and then after that is just the electronics, you know, just stuff to keep myself entertained, you know, the laptop, the TV, Xbox, printer.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Coffee table. I don't think I'm keeping the coffee tables, so I thought you were because it matches the end tables. They'll go with the stuff in there. So if I keep it, it'll just I'll say I'll take it down to the basement. Um in my little man cave. Uh the entertainment center is definitely going down there. So I don't know. I mean, there's plenty of space. I could put this whole I could put my whole damn apartment in the basement. That's how big it is. So we'll see. But uh yeah, everything'll just about be out. I mean, if I really wanted to, I could have finished this weekend, but I didn't really want to.
SPEAKER_04But who wants to? Fuck that.
SPEAKER_02Keep working and um I got your more weeks a piece I can have.
SPEAKER_04Get your um your extra hours for Comic Con.
SPEAKER_02Bruh, yeah. Check this out. Check this out. So they hired three new people, two assistants and a manager like me. And they got the easy treatment. We're just come in, you know, late in the day, and you're gonna leave after four hours or so. And I'm just like, what what what what about me? You know, that that's not the treatment I got. Right. And they were and and it was like, yeah, we're gonna take care of that on your vacation. So basically, they're gonna give me all the hell yeah. I was all I worth it, worth it.
SPEAKER_04Yep. I get to go, I get to take a paid vacation two weeks into my job, sold.
SPEAKER_02So I after that, I shut the hell up.
SPEAKER_04Yep. Thank you, Massa. Go back to my job, Massa.
SPEAKER_02Yep. Matter of fact, but I was so excited about it, I was doing work before this pod. I was like, let me go. Now by work I mean I still have training modules to do. So I was like, instead of using that time and doing it during the work hours, I was like, let me just do the training modules at home. Um and I can do actual work tomorrow. Cool. If y'all gonna treat me like that, we're gonna be friends. Simple as that. So yeah, uh, yeah, but but seriously, probably multiple trips, obviously. There's some big stuff here. Yeah, but multiple chips and trucks, but one day and this stuff is gone. So I'll I'm basically gonna get rid of everything else that I really don't need. Like eventually the bookcase will go, the bookcase, I'll put the microwave some, I'll find a spot for for stuff. That way, when it is the last day, I only have the the entertainment stuff to take. So, yeah. Uh went faster than I thought it was going to. Hell yeah, much. I was like, I probably could have this weekend, I could probably get it did it all and been over there, and now then I went and saw the place and was like, yeah, she got work to do.
SPEAKER_04So I need my security deposit back.
SPEAKER_02I I made it, I made it very clear that I was like, you know, and I said this too, it was like, pretty sure I'm not gonna be there next weekend. I'll wait till after con and give you some more time to do what you gotta do. Because if you want to see me and uh this needs to be taken care of, you know. In the common living spaces. Yeah, I was like, I'm gonna be in the basement again.
SPEAKER_04Um these games Jax told me to play, so it's like, man, I need to find me.
SPEAKER_02I'm gonna I'm gonna I'm gonna find me what it's uh an MMO or something. I'm gonna find me what Elder Scrolls or something. Because I know how hooks I get on the load and wild.
SPEAKER_03Give you some old republic.
SPEAKER_02Uh you know what? I I really enjoy part one. I I would I could play that again.
SPEAKER_04No, they got an old republic MMO. Yeah. Wait, what? Yeah, it's going on for years. Oh, that cool cinema scene shit they showed during the Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, I can do that. I'm too late. I I'd be like, you know, bottom of the list. I gotta jump onto that shit when it first starts.
SPEAKER_01And then get about, you know, 16 hours a day in. Are you going down and play your game again?
SPEAKER_02Yes, yes, I am. Why? Have you seen the liver?
SPEAKER_04Take your drawers up, woman. This is the hill I'm dying on.
SPEAKER_02That's not even a joke, dude. It's it's like, oh, oh, okay. So it's so it's like this. It's like, where are you? At the bar. I will be I'll be back when
Packing Up And New Job Perks
SPEAKER_02it's time to go to bed. I do not want to be there. So we'll see. Mark she knows what's up. She likes it. I said it. She knows what's up. If it stays worse, I will find somebody else's house to sleep at. And she will be cute. So I'm gonna win either way. Yeah. You think I'm cute? I I told you there is an office 15 minutes from you. I think I can work from here.
SPEAKER_03Uh oh, two other news things that I saw when we before we got tangered. First, did you see uh the main Nike guy from uh Indiana Jones Last Crusade, he died. He actually died, his hair grew out, and then he uh no, he he died a couple uh was it a week ago, week and a half ago. And then uh Bonnie Tyler, the total turnaround every now and then. Oh, and now we're and now we're gonna demonstrate claims.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. I saw um Madame Galvin Daredevil died today too.
SPEAKER_02Oh, really? Oh damn. She was like 86. Sure.
SPEAKER_03Oh, damn. Danny Glover's got Alzheimer's. What the hell?
SPEAKER_01Yep, I saw that too.
SPEAKER_03That's one thing he is that's one shit he is not too old for. And we talked last week about the voice of Lilo. She died of AIDS, right? Yep.
SPEAKER_01No. Lilo and Stitch? Yeah. Yeah. The cartoon, the original. She uh how old was she? She was 33? Yeah. Dang. She Brazilian or something? Right? No, she had uh mental health issues and she was homeless and all kinds of trauma.
SPEAKER_03Chase was homeless in Los Angeles and suffering from severe malnutrition, her father said.
SPEAKER_01One of those child acting things.
SPEAKER_02Because I don't think she was that young when she did Lilo and Stitch.
SPEAKER_03Uh well, she she was in a ton of stuff that says that in the early 2000s. She was on like ER, Charmed, the Practice, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and then she did uh Lilo and Stitch, and then she also starred in The Ring. Yep, she was the creeper that came out of the TV. Um But the fact that like she was in oh, she was 35, not 33. Um But the fact that she was in those two movies and still like but yeah, if you I mean she probably No, her agent says he had a stack of checks on on his desk from royalties and shit.
SPEAKER_04She had well over a milli. I mean, if she wanted help, she could have. But you know, I mean, people with mental health issues, they don't know how to do that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I thought you could like force some shit only if they're a danger to themselves or others.
SPEAKER_04That's when you get those legal 72 hour holds on 'em. But um if she just wanted to be homeless, there's no law against wanting to be homeless.
SPEAKER_02Trespassing. Yeah, there is.
SPEAKER_04Right, but you're in trouble for that, not for not having a house.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_04I think she was living in like an RV or some shit.
SPEAKER_01So she wasn't even homeless. Yeah. House house. She was houseless. Well, the PC term is unhoused now. You can't call them homeless or vagrants. Unhoused. You keep them liberal words to yourself. Like you can't call what?
SPEAKER_02They're not illegal aliens. Like, fuck yes, they are. They're illegal immigrants. Or you know, undocumented immigrants. Undocumented.
SPEAKER_03They keep saying they're gonna release the videos of the illegal aliens, and I still haven't seen them.
SPEAKER_01That is true, they did say that.
SPEAKER_02Maybe because they were trying to distract us from well, as soon as they do, the Democrats are gonna give them free housing and everything else you need.
SPEAKER_04Hey, if they can fly a spaceship, they can drive.
SPEAKER_02No, not the same thing. Not the same thing. You don't know. You don't know. Or do I? Or do I? You don't know how I've improbed. Well, you kind of do, but whatever.
SPEAKER_03Well, yeah, you just talked about it earlier. I have videos.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. Talk about Trey as Jack with that Michael Jackson week.
SPEAKER_04Yep. And one glove. Oh, speaking of which, I'd saw um that movie made a billion already. And so Jafar is the first actor in history to make a billion dollars with their first movie.
SPEAKER_01Their acting debut. Right?
SPEAKER_02Okay. That's cray. Part two to follow. Now for sure. Yes, maybe, yes, maybe, yes. Maybe now it's yeah, it's happening.
SPEAKER_03Right? There's no way they can let that go. They're not gonna miss out on that opportunity.
SPEAKER_02Uh-huh. They gotta do it quickly, though. They can't they can't sit on this.
SPEAKER_04No. Get on the hype train.
SPEAKER_02Although, although, who was it? I think old girl had a great question. Why wasn't Janet in this movie?
SPEAKER_04She didn't want to be. Okay. They came to her, she's like, no, I'm good.
SPEAKER_02So But not even okay, but they don't need her permission to have the character.
SPEAKER_04They don't, but out of respect, they could omit it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, they could work around her.
SPEAKER_04Is it worth the drama, right?
SPEAKER_02So I mean, if there's nothing relevant to Michael's story, then fine. But I'm pretty sure. I mean, I guess it's Michael's story and not Janet's, but so that's fine. But uh, but yeah, that that question came up, and I was like, that's a great question. I don't know.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, we were talking about that when we were watching the movie too. We were like, There's not enough children at this table.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, and you got La Toya who actually had a role in it. I don't know what the relationship was with Michael and Janet, but I thought it was pretty good.
SPEAKER_04And I mean they had songs and stuff together, so yeah.
SPEAKER_02So I was like, alright. I guess we'll have to wait for the Janet movie.
SPEAKER_04Yep. She's gonna do her own movie. I volunteer to play Justin Timberlake.
SPEAKER_01I've been told we are very similar. You just want to feel some titty. Accidentally, sir. Yes, I didn't know. I didn't do it. I wouldn't do it on purpose.
SPEAKER_02Did that story ever the truth of that story ever come out?
SPEAKER_01No.
SPEAKER_04Nobody cares. Okay. Except that she's the victim and Timberlake got a lot of things. Well, her career suffered and Timberlake stiff did not.
SPEAKER_01Probably because of the way she handled it.
SPEAKER_02Because most people would have said that, okay, publicity's done. Instead of owning it, she's like, oh no, I'm the victim. They're like, Yeah, fuck you, you're not the victim. So that would have been enough to turn people against her. Own your shit, and it's usually fine.
SPEAKER_01My boob covers come off all the time. Right, for real. Isn't it wrong if you see my tassels? It's crazy.
SPEAKER_03I was just looking at Box Office Mojo to just see if there was anything to talk about. And so like the invites have been like select theaters for a while, but this weekend it went it added uh 1,500 theaters. And so it like it it's weekend gross compared to last week is plus 712%. And I was like, God damn, I was like, is that 71.2? And it was like, nope, 712. Like literally on the Friday, the Friday that it uh came out, it went up 2,636.7%.
Celebrity Deaths And Hard Realities
SPEAKER_03What movie? The invite? It's uh it's your kind of movie, Lou. Swingers. Yeah. Joe and Angelina's marriage or Angela's marriage is open ice. Yeah. Yeah. When they invite their enigmatic upstairs neighbors for a dinner party, the night spirals into unexpected places.7%. Womp womp.
SPEAKER_04That's because everybody already bought the tickets.
SPEAKER_03Megans dropped 44%, which I guess that's pretty normal.
SPEAKER_02It was already not good anyway.
SPEAKER_03Obsession is uh obsession only dropped 26%, and that shit's been around in the theater for nine weeks. That's crazy. $253 million on a 750k budget. That's just your day is only at 111 while backrooms is at 194.
SPEAKER_02What what studio made obsession?
SPEAKER_03Blumhouse? Yeah, Blumhouse, yeah. So Universal Focus feature. But I think Blumhouse is under focus, right? Yeah, something like that.
SPEAKER_01Um Universal are buddies. Yeah. I don't think so. There wasn't really there. I mean, nothing came out.
SPEAKER_03I mean, unless I go see Milana.
SPEAKER_04Make way, make way for Moana.
SPEAKER_03But I I mean nothing else came out, so unless there's some sort of uh fan like 40-year anniversary or something like that.
SPEAKER_04Well, yeah, I haven't looked at Dom in a while. Like at night, we'd be watching movies, yeah. Like you and all the kids, or you and just one of the kids?
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_04Alright, so um Companion.
SPEAKER_03What'd you think?
SPEAKER_02I liked it. Which one is which one is that?
SPEAKER_03Hold on. Companion's the one with the girl from um Yellow Jackets, where she's uh Sophie Thatcher and Jack Quaid from The Boys.
SPEAKER_04Go down help me. Tell me what's going on. So um, this I am dirty blurb is a weaken getaway with friends at a remote cabin turns into chaos after it is revealed one of the guests is not what they seem. Oh, yeah. Yeah. I actually really like it. Was it good? Okay, okay, yeah, I did. It was actually very entertaining. Um is on HBO. It's not like it wasn't like super gory. Like there was blood, but it wasn't like super gory. So Olgirl could probably watch it with you.
SPEAKER_03There was a little tension. I think it was more tension than anything else. Yeah, yeah. Just kind of the tension of the group and the the dis disintegration of the relationship.
SPEAKER_04No. No. The uh Sophie Thatcher who plays I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Uh Teen Natalie. She's the um the goth girl. The Juliet Lewis.
SPEAKER_03Right? Yeah, Juliet Lewis. Uh child the teenager.
SPEAKER_04And it has the Grand Inquisitor from Obi-Wan.
SPEAKER_01And then um, yeah, Huey from the boys. No.
SPEAKER_03The actual one from Obi-Wan. Yeah, the one from Obi-Wan. The one with the giant head.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah, yeah. But it wasn't giant enough.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that head was.
SPEAKER_03But body, but was thick with two C's. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Um, but no, I really did like that one. It was super entertaining. Um, and then we watched the materialist that has um Pedro in it.
SPEAKER_03That's the one with Pedro and Chris Evans and Dakota Johnson.
SPEAKER_04Dakota Johnson, okay. Um yeah, it's uh this girl, she's like a matchmaker, and then she ends up hooking up with Pedro.
SPEAKER_01Um it was entertainment.
SPEAKER_04I mean there wasn't like a whole lot of sex or anything, so I mean we've already seen all that. Right? Also on HBO. Also on HBO. Um but yeah, it it's not like uh it's rom comish. R rated rom com, so yeah, it has Pedro and Chris Evans who are both really good in it. Um Minions and Monsters, we talked about that a little bit last week. If you like minions, it was fine. Wait, did you watch that at home? No, no, no, no, no. That's just a list of all my movies that I've been watching. Oh Undertone, which I did not like. Made it look really good. Um, but I was not impressed with the movie. Give that dude a raise.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Oh, that's the one with the girl who's listening to the show. She has a podcast, like a podcast.
SPEAKER_02I wanted to watch that. Okay, I'm glad you said that.
SPEAKER_04That was mid. It wasn't horrible, but I was like, eh.
SPEAKER_03It has 74% on uh Rotten Tomatoes for whatever that's worth.
SPEAKER_04It's only a 5.9 on IMDB.
SPEAKER_01It's probably because of that the demographic, the demographic.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I I don't know. It it was demons and 13 to 22 year olds, or something like that. I was I was just not very impressed with it. Um White 2K. That one I enjoyed.
SPEAKER_01Wait, wait, isn't that what Snow White? Yes. Yeah, I'll skip. But that one was entertaining. It was very 90s.
SPEAKER_04My oldest was like, oh no, I don't think she watched it. She did not watch it.
Streaming Watchlist And Quick Reviews
SPEAKER_04That was the night she didn't want to watch movies. Um, but no, it was very 90s, like all the 90 movies we watched back in the day. It was a very love letter to them. Um I watched Lee Cronin's The Mummy.
SPEAKER_01I liked it. It was gory and scary and fucked up. Right in your wheelhouse. Guessing you were solo on that one too.
SPEAKER_04No. Little one uh oldest watched it. Little one's shit. Um, I don't think she liked it a whole lot. Let me see. We do letterbox now, so let me see what she wrote about it. What is that?
SPEAKER_03It's a movie review app. Yeah, you can say I've seen this movie and this is what I thought of it. And it also keeps track of your movies that you've seen.
SPEAKER_01So it's actually pretty cool. Let's see. Right? We usually do it right after and like bam. I seen it.
SPEAKER_04She wrote for Moana. I could have watched Obsession instead.
SPEAKER_01Right? Dang that's dang, where the heck are you? Lee Cronin's the money. Dang girl, where are you at? Dang, I don't see it on her list at all. Maybe she forgot to read it. I like it. Right? Let's see, let's search it. Lee Cronin. The mummy. I reviewed it. Did my friends review it?
SPEAKER_04It doesn't look like it. Hayton. I think I have a letterbox now. She gave it she gave it two stars.
SPEAKER_01That's all she gave it.
SPEAKER_03Five. Um Death of a Unicorn. I did I heard that one wasn't very good. It was just okay.
SPEAKER_01There was a lot of funny to it. Um but it was funny and gory. Um Good Boy. The one the horror movie from the dog's perspective.
SPEAKER_04We watched the trailer of it on the podcast. It was a shudder movie, so it's only like a little over an hour long. It was just okay.
SPEAKER_01Was it even a horror movie though?
SPEAKER_04Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. There were dead people and ghosts. Yeah. It wasn't horrible. I wouldn't watch it again though.
SPEAKER_03Wow. This is night. That's 90% on.
SPEAKER_04It's a good concept. Like it I just it was just okay. Dog numbers like it. Yeah. Because the dog didn't die. Yeah, the dog didn't die. Yeah, the dog didn't die.
SPEAKER_02No animals for harm in the making of this movie.
SPEAKER_01Literally. And then um the last one we watched was Caught Stealing.
SPEAKER_04I liked that one a lot. I thought it was good. Um that's the one Austin Butler and Zoe Kravitz. Austin Butler and Zoe Kravitz and Doctor Who. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_03No, it was actually really good. It was a lot better than I thought it was gonna be. There was a lot there there was some shocking things that happen in the movie that don't generally happen in those types of movies. And I that made it a lot, it be it made it unpredictable, which was nice. Because generally in those movies, you kind of can tell, oh, this is how it's gonna be. That type of thing. And also the uh with like um Dead Kingpin and Lee Schreiber as the Hasidic Jewish.
SPEAKER_04It was good, Lou. That was them, right?
SPEAKER_03That was that movie where they were the yeah. Yeah, both of us lose.
SPEAKER_02That trailer was like this.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, no, it's much better than the trailer.
SPEAKER_02They need to get the guy who did that other trailer that that tricked you to do a trailer.
SPEAKER_01And Cut Stealing is on Netflix. Maybe that'll be Tuesday's movie since there isn't a movie to go to.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, start watching sh start watching old shit. Yeah, I have a new one.
SPEAKER_03Um have you guys ever done Guesser Boxed? This is more for Jack since he's on Letterboxd. You guessed.
SPEAKER_02No, I've never guessed her box.
SPEAKER_03You guessed well, you guessed the movie based on the reviews. Oh, okay. So, like today, the review is by a user. They gave it three and a half stars, and the the um so oh, the other part, Lou, is you can go and like other people's reviews. So if you like agree with what they said, you can on letterbox. So the review is my favorite Disney princess named after a font.
SPEAKER_01Ariel. So Little Mermaid. 1999 or 2023 version.
SPEAKER_03How many stars are they giving? Nobody likes 2023 version. Three and a half. So yeah, probably. Yeah, it's gonna be the the cartoon one. The cartoon?
SPEAKER_02Five or ten. Yes, good job, Jack. Boo boom.
SPEAKER_03Let's see what the other hints were. Uh genre, family, animation, fantasy. It has 3.7 overall rating. Uh tagline somewhere under the sea and beyond your imagination is an adventure and fantasy from '89.
SPEAKER_02If you don't get it off of that, it'd be suck. The song that has that in its title is the title.
SPEAKER_01Come on.
SPEAKER_02You and I know and I've seen that movie one time ever.
SPEAKER_01Obviously, with the ride.
SPEAKER_03You love the ride.
SPEAKER_02That's that is true. I I have no problem writing Ariel. Maybe the ride. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03She's like, guys, I'm excited about I'm excited about December already. I know you guys.
SPEAKER_02How old is Ariel in that movie? Because she got married.
SPEAKER_03She's like late teens, early twenties. Yeah. So probably like 17 or 18.
SPEAKER_02Oh my god. I always thought she was like 15 or something. It was like she got married.
SPEAKER_04That's why she was wearing the seashells. If she was younger, she wouldn't have time for questions seashells.
SPEAKER_02Okay, and how did she get the shells? I mean, did she eat the food first? No, she got married in 16.
SPEAKER_0116.
SPEAKER_02She was 16. Yeah, that was fine. That's the age of consent. Oh, that's 1969, it would have been okay. 1999, no, nobody had been getting married.
SPEAKER_04The time it was set. We don't have big ass sailboats like that anymore. Pirate ships and shit.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we do. Here's one on the strip. Not anymore. It's gone now. Womp, womp, womp. They got rid of that ship at the TI.
SPEAKER_02I know they got they got I thought they got rid of the ship. I know they got they got rid of the show. I didn't know they got rid of the ship, so I know the show ended.
SPEAKER_03Like years ago. I thought the ship I thought they finally got rid of the ships, did they not?
SPEAKER_00Oh, I don't think it's a good idea.
SPEAKER_03So according to according to AI, in the eighty-nine animated, Ariel is sixteen years old. In the twenty twenty-three live action remake, she's eighteen. In the cartoon Ariel's Beginning, Ariel is fifteen. The T V series, Ariel, she's eight. And The Little Mermaid 2, Return to the Sea, she is 28 to 30. And then in the original Hans, the original Hans Christian Anderson fairy tale, she was 15.
SPEAKER_04She was also trans or gay or something. And Hans Christian Anderson. That's why he wrote that. Because he had like a gay boyfriend or something, and they couldn't be together.
SPEAKER_01Lou would know. Wait, what?
SPEAKER_03We're just selling out all we're just airing out all of Lou's dirty laundry.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Six months away. I can't wait. Can't wait. Five, seven? Less than.
SPEAKER_03So going back to the Comic Con conversation real quick, I guess my question is so Jack, do you get excited when the schedule drops? Is that kind of your kind of thing?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, when it starts seeing like, oh, I I want to go to this panel or so-and-so's having an autograph signing. The exclusives a little less. Um just because they and some of those they announce them so far out. Like you can find out some come conxes are like Toy Fair in February. Like this will be the Comconxes for the chair. Especially if it's a shared one. But no, it it's just a happy time, right? It it makes me happy. Um the fact that my oldest still really likes it. So anytime you can get a teenage girl excited. Pause.
SPEAKER_03Unwomanly, right? Yeah. Um womanly.
Letterboxd Games And Disney Ages
SPEAKER_03Umwomanly. Wait, I thought you said unwomanly, and that would just was awkward.
SPEAKER_04Well no, you can say you can get them excited about something, right? It's not their phone or yeah. Considering all the ups and downs. Like she is looking forward to. Like she is very excited about. Exactly.
SPEAKER_02Or the other apps on their phone, or the accessories to their phone.
SPEAKER_03And Lou, what's your what's your kind of trigger point for getting excited about Comic-Con? Is it like packing and getting ready to get in the car to or is it showing up?
SPEAKER_02Like what's the I mean I th I think it's usually the yeah, that last weekend. That last weekend, then it's like, can can why didn't I take Monday off and just left on a Friday night? You know what I mean? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Um but at the same time, I could. I could leave on the weekend and then work from home on Monday. And then, you know what I mean? So it's like, I could, I don't think I'm going to. Because if I told, because I'm on site Monday, Thursday, and obviously I'm not gonna be there on Thursdays, but I could be there that Monday. But if I told them it's like, hey, I'm gonna work from home, I'm not gonna be on site, nobody's gonna try that. But uh, but yeah, that's usually what it is for me. I don't I don't know if it's if it's certain exclusive, not this year, because there's only a handful that I like. Um, although I want to check out more of the outside stuff, uh, the offsites, because I did a couple last year when I didn't have a Saturday badge. So doing that last year, I was like, this is actually kind of fun. That that uh presser one, I think, is too especially the one I was right by the hard rock connected R where you could go get a couple drinks afterwards. Um that was cool. So I'm like, you know, if I could get what I want uh merchandise-wise early enough, I may just say F it and go hit some yeah, and yeah, and if there's no panels, um I've it I I got to play Magic last year, and it kind of got me back into it. So by not having a batch, that was fun. The only downside is they didn't have enough product because wizards didn't necessarily sponsor them. Um had some other thing going on. It was like, I guess they were being cheap or whatever. And I even went to Hasbro's booth and went to the Magic guys, Aaron Forsyth, um and and Mark, whatever his name is, uh, and bitched about it. I was like, guys, I'm somebody who's been playing since the beginning. Uh I didn't have a badge on. This is this was uh Sunday, I think. And was like, I didn't have a badge first for yesterday. Um, so I wanted to go play Magic, and I couldn't because they didn't have enough product. I got to play one time and I wanted to play some more. So he's like, nope, note taken. Well, we appreciate the feedback. Um, and then we'll see what happened. We'll see what happens this year. But but yeah, that was so so yeah, there's there's a lot more of the stuff that I don't usually do that I did some last year, and it's like, you know what? I I kind of was okay with that.
SPEAKER_03So well, I think uh next week we can that'll be our Comic-Con Spectacular where we can talk about the exclusives that we want to do in the panels. I'll go through the panels and I'll mark ones that I think are interesting, and then we can end and then you guys can do the same for ones you're going to, and we can see what kind of overlap.
unknownOkay. Well, now I have to.
SPEAKER_04He doesn't. He does it Wednesday night while we're waiting for the doors to open.
SPEAKER_03You know, I mean, Lou, you can also you can also just dick right on you can also dick right on uh Jack and I and just look when we'll we'll create the list and then you can see.
SPEAKER_02So it's like a Tuesday, got it.
SPEAKER_03I'm if I'm a dick right one of YouTube, and it's like, oh, it's like it's another Saturday night, Saturday night after start after fireworks.
SPEAKER_02Saturday night, those are the fireworks. But yeah, no, no, I'm I'm down for that. Matter of fact, I might get old girl involved and and say, oh, and here's the ones she's interested in. Because she might pick something that's like, oh, I didn't think of that.
SPEAKER_03Or I I buy some shit is like I'm not interested. She's like, or or the exclusives that she's excited about. We can we can we can bring her on as a pseudo-guest. We'll put a picture up in the next on your screen.
SPEAKER_02K-pop. Oh, right, for real. Every I'll have a Roosevelt before I do it. I'll put it here. Yeah, I'll go back to Roosevelt. I doubt that. I doubt that. Yeah, I doubt that. Because because even even the with the con here, Comic-Con's not till Wednesday. Comic-con here started on Thursday, and they didn't tell us what was up until like the Wednesday or Tuesday before or something like that. So I wouldn't be surprised if on lately, lately they uh whatever it's called, the blog thing. I can't remember the name. Yeah, field notes. Field notes. The field notes, I would not be surprised if we don't hear until Monday. So we may be a day early on on that. If it if they do it, though, I would like to think it's gonna be Friday. So it'll be either this Friday or next Monday, is what I think. Um you got last year's? Anybody got it? I was just fixing to pull it up.
unknownCool.
SPEAKER_03Also, since we're talking about Roosevelt's, Jack was able to sneak in and get uh the they promoted a bloom. So their their collector's club, right? Like which Yeah, they'd have the the rewards the rewards club, yeah. Yeah, it's called Camp Cuneo. And last week they released the first kind of exclusive members club item, right? Like kind of as far as far as like a limited, like they have a bunch of things where if you have a certain number of points, you can buy a t-shirt or like but all of them that are kind of Camp Cuneu labeled. This was the first thing.
SPEAKER_01We don't know yet. They just said keep it with you. How do you get it? You had to order it. Oh, so we're gonna use a thingable coin.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. I I didn't bother once Duke said it was too late.
SPEAKER_04Okay, so last year they put the Comic-Con notes out on Friday before Comic-Con.
SPEAKER_02There it is. So it'll be this Friday, likely. Uh, and then we could talk about it on Sunday. Real quick. Hopefully they they they'll explain the process to get uh your ticket to get a line because the guy in Denver said it's going to be different. They're doing something again, but it's gonna be different, so it's more organized. I I still say what they're gonna do is not do the pick your time thing. It's just gonna be you get what you get.
SPEAKER_03You walk up and they're like, here's a blue wristband, come back.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you're a blue time, like the way Hallmark used to do it. You didn't really pick your time. Like, I don't I want a one o'clock. No, I think they're gonna fix that shit and everybody have one long ass line and you get your point one and keep on walking it. Then go to the next booth if you want it from the other because they're doing three booths again.
SPEAKER_01That that I saw.
SPEAKER_03Um oh, so real quick, just says if there are out by Friday, how out of the they normally would do five shirts, right? Or is it four shirts? Thursday, Friday, Saturdays.
SPEAKER_02There's a Wednesday, there's a Wednesday, a Thursday, two Fridays, two Saturdays, so it could be six.
SPEAKER_04They had seven Star Wars shirts last year.
SPEAKER_03How many uh how many shirts do you think uh we're gonna be interested in out of the we'll say seven. Three. Just based on last year. Three? Jack, how many do you?
SPEAKER_02Wait, wait, seven in Star Wars world? Uh two. I'm in three total that I'd actually want to keep versus flip. I would say two Star Wars ones and one from their other one non-other license. Yeah, one one non-Star Wars and two Star Wars is probably what I'm gonna say.
SPEAKER_04Uh actually, even looking at last year's um There was only two, right? It was not so last year they had the Floral City Sith, the Floral City Sith, the Gold Purkle Panel, the Purgle and the Beagle.
SPEAKER_01Revenge of the Sith, Panel, uh the Great Sketch Kid, Bad
Comic-Con Plans And Roosevelt Strategy
SPEAKER_01Batch, and the uh turquoise City Connect Army. I think we only kept two of those from I kept the Sith Floral and the panel shirt.
SPEAKER_03I think I have the Sith Floral and I have the great great draw kit and then Neil.
SPEAKER_02Yep.
SPEAKER_03So I actually wore that yet. I wore that on I wore that to my uh little concert I went to on Friday, and I actually got a couple compliments on it. So the Neil one or the sketch?
SPEAKER_01No, the uh sketch one. The other booth, I don't know if I kept any from the other booth.
SPEAKER_03Those are the polos, right? That's their gall breakfast.
SPEAKER_02No, they they had they had another booth of of off, like they had the Fantastic Four Blindbacks, they had the monster, that monster thing that people what where the wow things are, I think people liked. Uh was one of them.
SPEAKER_04Let's let Roosevelt sue us. Ah didn't load. Invalid file type.
SPEAKER_02But yeah, the other booth had, I think I don't know if I kept any from that booth. I still have some to sell, but I have it from last year. But I have to do that.
SPEAKER_04From that booth, but I think I still have the haunted mask, and probably the I'll eat you up. I did keep the monsters on holiday.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I sold all those. And then the breakfast balls, the golf shirts, had a floral city, the floral one. Uh Kermit. And POTUS. I didn't get any from them. And the Spidey Ice Cream Pop one.
SPEAKER_02The Spidey Ice Cream Pop was the only one I would have considered, but I didn't get any.
SPEAKER_03I do wish I would buy way more, I think, of the Roosevelt's just regular shirts if they were a little less expensive.
SPEAKER_02Wait, wait, defined regular shirts.
SPEAKER_03The non-licensed, like the their shirts, right? Like their retro or their whatever, their disco. But it's but it's not as it's not a licensed um shirt. It's just a shirt that's being released from them, right? It's not Star Wars or Harry Potter. Yeah. But the fact that those are still $70, like to me, though, it's harder. Like I can I can get excited about a Star Wars one. I find myself, I think if they were like $55, like I'd be like, perfect. Because I would then understand, oh, I'm paying a fee. There's a licensing fee that comes with buying a licensed shirt. If it's not a licensed shirt, but that's my how my brain works, right? Like that in my head, because every time we talk about them when they release them, we're all, oh, that's a cool shirt, or that's kind of a cool shirt. But I'll go and look and I'll just be like, but do I want to spend $70 on it? Like, I would rather save that $70 for a Star Wars shirt. You know what I'm like?
SPEAKER_02So I don't know that I'd have to look at them. I don't know that I've seen one that caught my interest.
SPEAKER_03That wasn't there have been a few. I I have liked uh they they just came out um weeks.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Remember that? They had their their boardwalk collection this week. And there was one as uh seagulls. Shit. Huh. Did I not send that picture? I probably sent it to Aldous because she likes seagulls.
SPEAKER_03Look, it's possible I send you a lot of pictures, alright? I think you I think you told us about it. You said the seagull.
SPEAKER_02And then I went back.
SPEAKER_04You're so responsible though.
SPEAKER_03Well, they just had like their boardwalk collection, and there were a couple of those. I was like, oh, those are kind of cool. But I'm like, but I'm like, eh, like but the problem with that, with a lot of those shirts that they sell, Lou, is the repeating patterns, I think, trip you out. A lot of those are those busy looking ones. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Um, but yeah, I mean, there were a couple of the boardwalk ones, I was like, oh, that's kind of cool. And I think they had a cut like a drinks one. Um, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I was like, oh, those are cool, but I'm like, and again, if they were $55, I in my head maybe I could like wrap my head on the code.
SPEAKER_04Well, that's what I did with the um I got the sushi shirt during the 17, 76% off. I was like, I'll buy a sushi shirt for 17% off.
SPEAKER_03But but I do know I I there have been a few where I'm like on Black Friday, like, you know.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, you just favorite it and come Black Friday once on sale, add the cart. Yep, yeah.
SPEAKER_03And if it doesn't, if it isn't there, then I don't add it to her.
SPEAKER_01No, it's just seagulls stealing food off of the boardwalk. Okay, Yoda has something to say about that. Man, those guys haven't released a video in a minute.
SPEAKER_04Do they have to though? I mean, when you peek, just go out on top, bro. Yeah, change your name, go do another project. Yeah, let that one just go for the next 80 years.
SPEAKER_01Put that in the time capsule. Yeah, no shit.
SPEAKER_02Oh man. So yeah, so my guess my guess is like I said, one from the other booth, two from the Star Wars booth, zero from the golf booth.
SPEAKER_03What do you think, James?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, the the the golf booth for Apollo might change if they have a cool floral. We'll see.
SPEAKER_03I have thought about picking up some of those um the uh the uh markers, the golf markers. Those are kind of cool, and I think they're small and they can, you know, you could probably do something pretty cool as with a display on them, but I've never I tried to do a little better.
SPEAKER_04A couple of them um mostly it was just to fill out the cart to get your free whatever purchase threshold or something. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Um I don't know where they're at, though. They're somewhere.
SPEAKER_01Lou's not gonna live with me, so I don't give a fuck if my house is messy. That's in shared space.
SPEAKER_02I only care about shared spaces. That and a little one's room for her, it's a matter of lessons, life lessons. She needs to keep her room clean, stuff like that. But but the rest of it, shared space. It's like my place, my place wasn't well. I had somebody else here too, so that didn't help uh three days a week. But it was mine. My name's on the lease, I'm paying the rent. Nobody else is paying rent, even though they were here a few days a week. That was me. So there's not a shared space.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, no share.
SPEAKER_02Um but now that is a it's a shared space, shared lease, there's different rules. And it has to be, you have to account for the quote unquote roommate. You have to account for that. And if you don't, you're just a fucked up person. Um so you know, and if it stays that way, I'll bitch about it, and then I'll keep it all to myself, and I'll be gone. As soon as the lease is up, see ya.
SPEAKER_01So yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yep. But but but to be fair, she wants to learn because she's used to clutter and not really shared space. Like I even told her, I'm like, that's probably the real reason uh Eevee left. It hadn't to do with mom and her boyfriend. It was she saw this shit and said, I I'm too nice to say anything, so I'll just wait till the lease is up and I'm gone. That's probably what really happened.
SPEAKER_04No, it's more fun to blame it the other way, though.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it really is. It's more entertaining for sure. Um but it'll get it'll get it'll get resolved. Because if it don't get resolved, here's the thing. She wants me to hang out there and be there and not go hide in the basement. So because of that, she will handle her shit. Uh I guarantee it, she will handle her shit. Uh or she because she knows, because I'm going to have a futon down there, a TV entertainment, I won't need to be up there at all. So I just won't.
SPEAKER_03And all we're doing is reinforcing that through this pod.
SPEAKER_02Yep. I mean, like I said, she knows it, and then she's behind anyway. She won't see this until God, probably after Comic-Con, like August sometime. She's like, I'm gonna be doing a lot of things. Yeah, I'm gonna be doing a pod sometime in in August, and all of a sudden she's gonna be cleaning up shit. I'm like, oh, she saw she saw the early.
SPEAKER_04She was like, hold on, I gotta close the basement door. Vacuum's going.
SPEAKER_02Yep.
SPEAKER_01But uh, that's not a sneeze this time. That is a vacuum going. Oh. Alright, boys. This is such a quiet pod.
SPEAKER_02There's you're there really not a whole lot going on.
SPEAKER_03It's a quiet time of year. We'll ramp it up there. Yeah, the ramp the ramp up the Comic Con. So we'll have like a month of shows revolving around Comic-Con. Uh like.
SPEAKER_02Because next week will be the week uh really leading to the let next week is pre-Comic-Con. The next week after that, there's no pod. Or at least not with me. Uh I'm between time. Because we'll be back in Vegas, but then I gotta get up next morning. And the week after it'll be more-con pod. We'll be the first first uh decompany in August week.
SPEAKER_03Or a reflection week.
SPEAKER_01There we go.
SPEAKER_05Like this.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I'm always excited.
SPEAKER_02And then I'm gonna decide if I want to go to Colorado Springs Comic-Con. That's the third week of August.
SPEAKER_03And Rose City Comic Con's coming up in September. Yeah, September.
SPEAKER_04I know Roosevelt's none of them bitches. Yeah, I know.
SPEAKER_02So that was fast.
SPEAKER_03But I'm happy that to be honest with you, a little bit of I mean, I again going to those cons, I mean, and Luke can echo this too. Going to the non-San Diego Comic Cons and seeing the Roosevelt's geyser, it's just fucking so easy. There's just you just walk right up and you're just like, wait, wait, where's the line? And they're like, what do you mean? Oh, well, normally I do this shit in San Diego, and they're like, oh.
SPEAKER_02Long as it's not Mickey Pixie shirt, you're fine.
SPEAKER_04BB Create posted that too. He's like, any other con, you're good. Just walk up to my booth. But for whatever reason, San Diego, lines everywhere. I will say lies.
SPEAKER_02Line ends here, line capped here. It's like, bruh, you know us well enough. Can't you just put it back, decide for us, things walk up and buy it.
SPEAKER_01Also, lies. Because if they're not there, you can't walk up to them. Yeah, it does matter. You kind of gotta be there.
SPEAKER_03But yeah, so there you go. That's our agenda for the next uh couple pods. It's gonna be fun. And then we'll have movies to talk about. We'll have a few movies to talk about.
SPEAKER_02At that point, we will. You're right. Jack's Odyssey to talk about.
SPEAKER_04I'll have Spider-Man at Spider-Man and the Resident Evil uh pop up at Universal down here.
SPEAKER_03Uh is that at Area 15? Yeah. Or horror unleashed, but yeah, it's Area 15 district. I I've been working on coming to Vegas because I really want to do the John Wick experience.
SPEAKER_04And then we have the ice cream buffet? No, I've never been to Area 15 yet. Okay. Well now we have the ice cream museum. Yeah. It's like $35 ice cream buffet. All the ice cream you want.
SPEAKER_02Wait, back up. Which is it?
SPEAKER_04What?
SPEAKER_02An ice cream buffet or an ice cream museum?
SPEAKER_04It's the ice cream, but it's a buffet at the museum. So there's an ice cream museum. For whatever reason.
SPEAKER_01Ice cream buffet inside it. What an ice cream, right? What? Like there's an audience for an ice cream museum.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Well, Area 15's very it's very artsy. It's art-driven. It's an art-driven museum. So you will learn something, but it's going to be some weird, obscure art. Exactly.
SPEAKER_03But then Area 15, I always kind of viewed Area 15 as like the outside experiences at San Diego Comic-Con. Like they were just, they're kind of there's rides and like weird art shit.
SPEAKER_02See, because I could I could support an ice cream buffet. People would want that. But a museum is like, what the hell do people care about the history of that? That's like a playground museum, though.
SPEAKER_03The museum is the excuse to have the buffet, Lou.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. It's just weird to have just an ice cream buffet.
SPEAKER_04That's fucking weird.
SPEAKER_02No, it's not. That line would be out the door if there's there is just are you crazy?
SPEAKER_04Look, they want to educate as well, okay? The buffet gets you on the door, but they want you to at least go through the museum and learn something.
SPEAKER_02No, I don't I don't need them to tell me how many calories I'm about to absorb.
SPEAKER_04A lot. They even have tickets as toppings there. They have everything on the toppings.
SPEAKER_03Literally, they have a scale you walk in, you weigh yourself on the way in, and then you weigh yourself on the way. They stole them from the heart attack grill, which is clothes. Rest in peace.
SPEAKER_02Um heart attack grill clothes?
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Neonopolis jacked the rent up so high that they couldn't afford it anymore. Well, okay, that makes sense.
SPEAKER_02Neonopolis is so fucked up that. I mean, they have to, though.
SPEAKER_03Because nobody's like, I mean, that place is fuck like let's be real. That place is fucking ghetto. Like Neonopolis is I mean, it's free now.
SPEAKER_02It is now. It was great before. I saw that.
SPEAKER_03No, I mean the coup even the couple times that I wandered through there, like, just to kind of get the steps in, and you're just like That's what I'm saying.
SPEAKER_02It is now.
SPEAKER_03When it first opened, it was great. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But now it's like a dead mall for all intents and purposes.
SPEAKER_02It has been. Unfortunately, it was great for like two years.
SPEAKER_01No, wait, I didn't see episode one there. I saw episode Episode two. I saw episode I saw episode one at the uh Orleans. Episode two seven. Oh. No.
SPEAKER_03Jack, you need to ask your oldest what the ten plus nine equals twenty-one is.
SPEAKER_01Let's see if she'll answer me. We'll get a live update. That was the before that was the thing before six seven. Twenty-one. Actually, I guess I can Google it as well. I don't understand these kids these days. Alright, Lou learned about Gooning. Now he can learn about ten plus nine equals twenty-one. You know what? I need to find me a sound club for that.
SPEAKER_03So somebody asked on Cora, why do people keep saying nine plus ten equals twenty one? In case you did not know, this quote unquote joke is part of a vine where the recorder asks a child, his brother, what nine plus ten is, and which case the child replies twenty one. If you want the complete dialogue, here it goes. The person the person recording. You stupid. Child, no, I'm not. Person recording, what's ten plus nine? The child, twenty-one. The recorder. You stupid. It's a really old joke, so the only people who use it nowadays are either slow or are kids trained to be cool.
SPEAKER_01Wait, which one are we? Probably both. Probably both. It's an internet meme. Duh.
SPEAKER_04So that's what I'm saying. When you can get a teenage girl excited about something that's not making fun of her middle-aged father, it's a win.
Vegas Side Quests And Ice Cream
SPEAKER_01Uh are we I'm am I gonna have to get us uh six seven shirts for Disney? As long as it has a QR code to our podcast. I'm surprised Roosevelt hasn't done a six seven shirt. Uh can we share can I share what how do we share that? Ah share. There we go. This is the shirt I'm this is the shirt I'm gonna get us. Yes, I'm gonna go. Oh. No, it's fine, I'll bring it back up just for you, Luke. I have no idea what any of that means.
SPEAKER_02No cat means you're not lying.
SPEAKER_04I have a shirt that says um something about being the Rizzler. It has a cat on it. Isn't the Rizzler the Rizzler is that kid, right? Like a guy that has a lot of Riz. And the Riddler.
SPEAKER_02No cap means you're not lying. Oh that meant.
SPEAKER_01And then bet means you can count on it. Yeah. And no cap means no bullshit.
unknownSee?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no capital. With the youth.
SPEAKER_03I mean the 18 and older youth, but yeah. There's a shirt that says, bruh, I survived 6'7. I'm eight.
SPEAKER_02That was good. Okay. I'll get this one for Lou.
SPEAKER_03Lou was wearing this one for sure.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's a good one.
SPEAKER_02I want to know what like the origin of no cap. Like Riz, I get. That's just typical kids being lazy. They don't want to say charisma. Um, so I get Riz, but I don't get no cap.
SPEAKER_01Like, what is what is where did that come from? That's background. Uh no cap originates from African American vernacular English and hip hop culture. That's not good enough.
SPEAKER_04Now the earlier uses of to cap date back to 1940, where it meant to surpass or to top. Kill somebody.
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_01I'm a captain. Well, yeah.
SPEAKER_02It's like, uh, that's fine that it's from hip hop, but in what context? Like, again, is it short for something? That's what I want to know.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, to surpass or to top something.
SPEAKER_02That's not what we're talking about, because it means like, no bullshit, I'm not lying. Look, that's where it started in the 40s. Yeah, but how did it evolve to I'm not?
SPEAKER_04That's what I'm saying. Those don't add up. The phrase no cap directly stems from this slang with no negating the act of lying or exaggerating.
SPEAKER_01So cap is lying? Yeah. That's not the definition you read. Look, that's just what the internet's telling me, okay? Stupid AI.
SPEAKER_02Somebody needs to teach it better.
SPEAKER_04It's not AI, it's A-A-V-E. African American vernacular English. There's four letters, Lou, not two.
SPEAKER_03There you go. Lou actually already asked this question on Reddit three years ago. How does the term no cap mean no lie? And then somebody, the first the top comment is read all the comments, and too long didn't read. No one has a fucking clue, and everybody made up their unbelievable reasons.
SPEAKER_02There we go. That I believe. That I that I believe
Translating Memes And No Cap
SPEAKER_02is the reason.
SPEAKER_01I could go with that.
SPEAKER_02Like you would think, like, again, you think they're lazy like charisma that a cap is short for like what what synonym for lie starts off or has C-A-P in it, and somebody probably used that. Somebody was somebody got a thesaurus for fucking uh Christmas uh in Oakland, and they're like, nah, mom, these words are too long. No cap. That's good enough. That's what I believe.
SPEAKER_01Who knows?
SPEAKER_02It's about what a thesaurus is, let's be real.
SPEAKER_03Much like many words in the English language, they just don't make any fucking sense.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. All the words on this podcast.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, do not make any sense. They're vague. They're very inconsistent.
SPEAKER_02I can see that shit in Oakland. Mom, can you get me a thesaurus? Boy, we put no dinosaur up in here. What's wrong with you?
SPEAKER_01I can just see that shit out here. Alright.
SPEAKER_03And on that note, thanks for listening. And or watching. We're just gonna end with the thesaurus joke. It's fine.
SPEAKER_00That's a thorough.
SPEAKER_03That's a motherfucker. Um with you guys.
SPEAKER_04Oh, I got a thorn ass. And Lou just says I got a thorn ass.
SPEAKER_02I can still talk. It's not my fault I feel your mouth too much.
SPEAKER_03No cap.
SPEAKER_04If this one is 54 episodes.
