Americans celebrate the freedoms won through great sacrifice, but political freedom can never replace the freedom only Jesus Christ provides. In this message from Romans 3, Pastor Chris Teien explains why our greatest allegiance belongs to Christ and how true freedom is found through faith in Him.

The Declaration of Independence reminds us of the value of earthly freedom, but the gospel proclaims an even greater freedom. This message explores humanity's need for a Savior, God's faithfulness to His promises, Christ's sacrifice for sin, and the amazing grace that justifies all who place their faith in Jesus.

In This Message:

1. Celebrate Freedom While Remaining Dependent on God

True freedom is not the ability to do whatever we want, but the opportunity to faithfully follow God. This message explains why believers should celebrate the blessings of their nation while recognizing that lasting freedom is only found through dependence on the Lord. (Romans 3:1-8)

2. Recognize That Every Person Needs a Savior

The Bible declares that every person has sinned and falls short of God's perfect standard. Neither religious heritage nor good works can make anyone right with God, making salvation through Jesus Christ our greatest need. (Romans 3:9-20)

3. Rejoice in God's Gift of Justification

God freely justifies sinners through faith in Jesus Christ. This message explains justification, redemption, atonement, and propitiation, showing how Christ's sacrifice completely satisfies God's righteous demands and makes forgiveness available to everyone who believes. (Romans 3:21-26; 2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 John 4:10)

4. Boast Only in the Lord

Salvation leaves no room for human pride. Because we are saved by God's grace alone through faith alone, believers are called to give all glory to Christ and faithfully live for Him. (Romans 3:27-31; 1 Corinthians 1:26-31)

Takeaway

Celebrate the freedoms God has given, but place your greatest confidence in Jesus Christ. Trust His finished work on the cross, depend on Him every day, and let your life boldly proclaim the hope of the gospel.
