Part of running an online business and using the various technological platforms and the automated systems and the free tools of the internet to support your overall flow of your operation is, you guessed it, sales.  The reality is that all online marketers at some point face the fact you have to have a sales system in place if you want recurring consistent income as a part of your online operation.

So,  If you ever have felt like selling your product or your service is like pulling teeth, kind of like rolling a, just a heavy boulder uphill, it feels like efforting.  If it feels like you have to convince people of the value that you're going to provide, or if it feels like you have to convince people why they should buy from you,  then we have a problem.

But what if I told you that the real problem, it isn't you, right? It isn't what you do professionally or the offer itself. In fact, most of the time, the offer that you've created is, is amazing. And the people would greatly benefit from working with you.  And the problem is also not your audience.  The problem is how your offer is positioned in the overall marketplace.

So this morning, the topic is going to be about messaging and the key to those effortless sales, right? We're going to dive in a little bit to what it takes to craft an offer that's an obvious yes to your audience. And if you're ready to finally create that offer for your own business, then I've got something special for you at the end.

So more on that, let's get into it.  Hey there, welcome to the mindset to market podcast, your go to place for practical tools and solutions for the everyday challenges of being a creative and spiritual solopreneur living in a material world. I'm your host. Deborah Smith. I'm a holistic business coach with 17 years of experience, and I help my clients bust through mindset blocks and build a daily practice that prioritizes your business's financial growth as well as your personal health and wellness.

I'm here to offer you support, creativity, mindset, practical how to's, and getting into imperfect, messy actions so you can find balance while building the dream.  If you're a purpose driven solopreneur who's working on that dream one day at a time, then you're in the right place. Let's dive in.  Good morning.

Thank you, my dear, for joining me here today. Happy Mindset Monday. And thanks for listening to the replay if you're catching this after the fact.  Um, before I dive into this morning's topic, which is really about messaging and positioning for your offer so that it makes sales a lot easier, I just want to acknowledge Uh, the socio political climate that we are in right now here in the United States, um, it is not just business as usual.

Things are not as they once were for the majority of this country. And I don't want to just turn a blind eye to that and, you know, rattle on about  business and marketing without acknowledging that the current climate that we're living in makes it really hard to do any of this stuff. So for my solopreneur out there who is like just trying to get up in the morning and have the Courage and the strength to share  with the world.

You're, you know, unique. One of a kind value proposition that you've put into a business. I support you. I know exactly how hard this feels. Um, it is really hard to do that on a regular day, but it's even more hard to do when  the system that we rely on.  To.  connect with one another is really just being torn apart at the seams.

So, and I know that many people feel scared right now. Many people feel angry. There's a huge divide.  I understand it's really hard to implement new marketing strategies and show up on the internet and sell your product or service when everything else on the internet. That feels like a screaming battle between ideologies and it's just a rough moment that we're in.

So, but I do want to encourage you to continue to work on your system and to set up these operations that can do some of that heavy lifting for you. It really will make a difference and it's something that you can be working on. Behind the scenes at all times, even if you don't feel safe or comfortable at this point, marketing in online spaces.

All right, so let's dive into it. This is the problem. If your offer isn't selling, it's not because people don't want to buy it.  It's because your offer is not positioned in a way that makes them feel like buying it is easy. Natural, effortless, and exciting.  And I see this all the time. I see brilliant entrepreneurs, and service providers, and people who have genius products, and really good offers.

But it's just too complicated, or it's too vague, or it's too overwhelming, like it's too much, like you're drinking from the fire hose.  And so instead of pulling people in, it repels them, it leaves them feeling confused about their offer, and As you know, confused minds do not buy and confused people don't buy.

And so if they're confused about what you're offering to them and confused about whether it will actually provide a solution to their problem, they're going to pass it over. So  think about this. When was the last time you hesitated on making a purchase? Chances are something about that purchase. Or the offer wasn't clear, wasn't simple, or it wasn't compelling enough to make you hit that buy now button without having a second thought.

Something about that offer was confusing or it wasn't clear to you that it was gonna be the obvious solution to your problem, and that's why you didn't buy it. On the flip side, think about a time recently when you were searching for something on the internet and you saw a product or a service that solved your problem and you were like.

That's it. That is what I'm looking for. That's what I need. You put it in your cart. You get out your credit card. I mean, maybe it takes you a minute to assess whether or not you can afford it, but pretty much you're in from the get go.  Chances are that offer was very clear, very simple for you to understand that it, what it was gonna get for you and  Aligned directly with the solution that you were seeking, and it just felt effortless.

And so you easily just put it in your cart and hit the buy now button.  So the solution here for you as a person trying to market your, your offer, and the key to having a digital offer that really sells itself is actually kind of simple. You need three things. You need number one, a clear and irresistible idea.

Like the solution to the problem has to be clear.  That's step one. Step two, or thing two, you need a simple, well designed  product. So you, it needs to look simple and look beautiful and clear.  And then number three, you need messaging that makes people say, I need this. So you want your messaging to set up and position your offer.

Like a no brainer, like the obvious, very exciting solution to their problem.  When you get these three things right, you don't really have to sell. You definitely don't have to sell in a pushy, convincing, efforting kind of way because your offer, it becomes a no brainer. And so, and this is exactly what we're going to be working on inside my upcoming program.

It's called Love Your Digital Offer. It's a three week coaching program where we're going to create or refine. And work on designing and positioning a digital asset.  And just FYI, this program starts Monday, February 17th, so if you're listening to this Uh, in real time, you still have time to join us and I'll talk more about that at the end.

But basically we're going to be together for three weeks inside of a, a private coaching container to build a new or refine an aligned digital offer.  And so just briefly, I want to talk about what it means to have an aligned digital asset.  First of all, the digital part of it means that it stands alone and it's something that people can purchase.

And get automatically without you having to be in the room and participate in that sale. So it's something that they can get access to immediately. It's, it's a PDF. It's a, you know, some type of a text based document. Or it's an audio recording. Or, or it's a video recording. Or it's an actual product that you sell.

And the purpose of this aligned digital asset is that it invites people into your world. It positions you as an expert in your niche, right? You're showing them a little taste of what you can do. It's either free or it's a low cost asset. And this strategy that we're talking about, and it leads or aligns directly with your higher value, higher ticket.

services or offers. So that's what I mean when I say an aligned digital asset. It's a little nugget that people can get from you. That's a quick win, it's a quick solution to their problem, but it leads directly to a deeper relationship.  Um, so let's go back to those three components of what makes an effortless sale  and talk about them a little bit more in a little more detail.

So number one was having an irresistible idea, right?  This is going to require you To do a little bit of research  about where your ideal client is at right in this moment in the marketplace. And also what are the other solutions that are currently out there? to the problem that you solve. So, if what you want to sell to people doesn't provide a very clear solution to their problem, it's going to be hard for you to sell it.

And so, to make your offer the very clear and obvious solution, you need to understand how they are thinking about the problem. Right? You need to understand how your ideal client feels about the problem, how they think about the solution. What are they seeking? It's not just that you can't help them. It has to also be that they believe you can help them.

So you got to get inside their head on that.  And by the way, this works for anything. You can apply this to just about any product or service. So for example, if you sell personal readings of people's human design chart,  um, for me to think that it's valuable and to make an effortless purchase, I need to already know what human design is, right?

And I need to believe that it will help me think and act in a way that's going to benefit my life and my business. So I, your product or your offer needs to help me overcome two hurdles there, right? I need to be educated about what this thing is, and I need to believe it's going to actually really benefit me.

If you sell handmade soaps with real flowers and oils in them, for me to make an effortless purchase, I need to know what that soap does for me. does. And I need to believe that your special, non chemical, non toxic, you know, floral soap is a better choice than my current bar of Dove soap, right?  If you sell coaching programs, I need to believe that your method or formula or process is going to help me get better results or get where I'm going more quickly.

And not just than I could do on my own, but better than other coaches in the industry, right? Like you have to stand out. against your competition.  So it's your job as the creator and the seller of your product or your service to make it really clear to me how your offer is going to solve my problem and that begins with just doing some of this research on your target market.

So that's step one.  Two, step two here is the simple and compelling design. So I've talked about this a lot. I am not a graphic designer by trade. I actually did study studio arts and I understand the creative flow of, of visual arts, but I'm not trained in color psychology or any of the deeper meanings of how design functions as a sales tool.

I just know that it does. Right? So therefore I use templates that were designed by people who have studied this stuff. Like I buy people's templates because I know that they have already done the heavy lifting of creating beautiful and functional design. And I know that it matters. That my offer looks compelling and is easy to read.

That, that it's easy to understand in a short amount of time. I know that image choice matters. I know that color choice matters. And the font, all of it. So, because it's something that I'm not an expert in, I heavily lean on other experts for templates in order to create beautiful design.  But the point is that design matters and it functions in a specific way with online marketing.

Because we have such a short amount of time to capture the attention of our viewer, when you're talking about things like, you know, social media posts or, you know, paid ads, you really don't have a ton of time in front of your ideal client. So you want to make sure that your, your images and your copy.

Not only are they compelling and beautiful to look at and attention getting, but also that they convey quickly  the solution that you provide.  Right. Okay. So number three is your messaging. So I think this is probably one of the more challenging parts of creating an effortless sale is positioning your offer in such a way that your audience perceives it.

As not only the solution to their problem, but as the most exciting solution, the easiest, the simplest, like they need to think it's the most irresistible solution to their problem.  And there's a couple different ways that you can do this. The number one most powerful tool for effortless messaging is storytelling.

So this is going to be you sharing your story, right? Your special sauce, your lived experience really helps us to better understand why what you created is going to help us. So going back to those three examples from earlier, if you tell me that human design is going to help me get more clear about how I'm hardwired to function, That's nice.

But if you tell me the story of how you first discovered your human design and how you applied what you learned to change how you showed up inside your business, and then the results that you got were these tremendous, you know, greater results, now I'm much more interested.  And, bonus, if you show me examples of how other people have gotten those similar results, even better.

If you can tell me the story behind that bar of handcrafted soap, where did the ingredients get picked from? What was the process that you used to make it? How long did it take you? What were the different, you know, elements that you included? And what flowers did you pick? Why did you pick them? Right, all of that stuff.

Now I'm invested. because I know so much detail about the product. Same thing with health coaching, business coaching, and life coaching. Tell me the story of why you chose this path, how you got here. Who else have you helped? What kind of results did you get them? This has a lot of persuasive power.  And it really helps us to, to visualize the journey that we might go on if we decide to work with you.

So, and here's another very important tip about messaging your offer.  You want to speak to the person who your ideal client will become  after using your offer or after experiencing your product or service. So you want to speak to who they want to be, right? Tap into their aspiration, sell to that future business owner who's, you know, It's getting more clear because she understands human design now, right?

Talk to that elevated self care and the expression of the woman who smells like fresh flowers and who knows that she takes expert care of her skincare because of your, you know, natural botanical soap. Speak to the future business owner who's gotten results with her sales by changing something that you taught her inside your coaching course.

You want a message to the future them. It's called future pacing them. You don't want to talk to the person where they're stuck, right? Because you're just going to. Activate that stuck layer in them and make them feel even more stuck. So you want to show them the possibility of how their life can change for the better.

Once they have this fill in the blanks, whatever thing that you offer.  So we're talking to a future person who is going to have a transformation once they work with you in some kind of way or buy your product or service. That's the, that's the effortless marketing piece is. Creating a pathway and sort of bridging the gap between where they are now and where they're headed through your messaging.

Okay, so let's tie this all together and I'm going to give you an invitation and also an assignment. So to recap, you've got these three compelling and very important components. You've got number one, a clear and irresistible idea that solves my problem. Number two, you've got a simple, well designed visual piece, right?

The product itself, the, the The flyer that promotes it, whatever is clear, it's simple, it's well designed. And then number three, you've got a message that makes me feel like, heck yeah, I need that thing. That is the solution I've been looking for.  And when those three things are aligned, you really won't have to do a heavy lift anymore to sell because your offer will become just a crystal clear, no brainer for people and your audience will be looking for it, right?

So here's your challenge. I want you to take a look at your current offer or the one that you've been thinking about creating. So if you don't already have a standalone digital offer that's on the marketplace, but you want to create one as a strategic tool inside your business, then use this prompt in this challenge for the thing you're creating.

Take a look at the offer  and ask yourself, does this feel Irresistible. Like I have to have this. Would you instantly buy this thing if you were your ideal client?  Okay. So that's the challenge. Look at your offer, think it through. Is it irresistible? Is it something that you're just like, absolutely, no question.

I need this.  And if you were your ideal client out there on the market looking for a solution, would you buy your offer? Would you buy it? Be honest with yourself.  And if not,  let's fix that.  And here is where your invitation comes in.  So I am really excited about doing this with my clients. In 2024, I think the number one service that I provided inside of my one on one coaching containers was to help my clients ideate a clear solution for their ideal client's problem.

So they had a really great stand alone digital asset that they could put out there, whether they're selling it, or giving it away for free to do list growth. In either case, it needs the same treatment. You need to make sure that it is the irresistible and clear  thing that your client needs. It needs to be beautifully designed, and it needs to be messaged and positioned to sell.

Like hotcakes, you want this thing to grow your list for you while you're sleeping at night. So you wake up in the morning And your inbox is full of new subscribers who grabbed your free thing or bought your low ticket thing.  Because those people who have said, Yes, I want this solution from you. Those are the people who will become your higher ticket clients.

Those are the people who are gonna, have bought into your universe and want to learn more about you and feel aligned with you as a business owner. So those are your most likely. People to, to move up the ladder and continue to work with you to become repeat clients, right? Those are your people.  So you really want to do this work up front to create something that they feel is like a very easy No brainer Instant yes,  that is what we're doing inside the love your digital offer program It is a three week coaching container.

I want anybody in there who wants to do this work. We're gonna create a So, we're going to create digital assets that speak to your ready to go client, right? Not the hesitant one. That clearly lays out the problem, the solution, and the next step for that person. We're going to make it so easy for them to join.
