EP089 | What It's Like to Be Held by a Companion That Listens
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
What if the thing your body needs most right now isn’t another protocol… but a place where nothing is required of you?
Many women living with chronic symptoms feel like healing has become another performance.
Another routine to follow.
Another protocol to finish.
Another set of markers to track correctly.
Even when those practices are helpful, the underlying pressure often remains:
If I just do enough, maybe I’ll finally be okay.
Over time, that quiet pressure can create something many women don’t even notice anymore, it's a constant state of bracing.
This episode explores a different possibility.
Instead of adding another practice, another tool, or another system to follow, what happens when healing support removes effort instead?
During the pilot of the Effortless Healing Companion, women accessed the experience in the simplest possible way.
They typed three words:
Today’s reflection please.
And what came back wasn’t advice, analysis, or instructions.
Just one grounding sentence designed to help the body feel safe without needing to perform, explain, or fix anything.
Because sometimes healing begins not with doing more…
…but with finally allowing the body to exhale.
BY THE TIME YOU FINISH LISTENING, YOU’LL DISCOVER:
- Why many women unknowingly live in a constant state of subtle “bracing” while trying to heal correctly
- How removing pressure, instead of adding more practices can help the nervous system soften
- Why predictable, non-demanding support can rebuild trust with the body over time
- The simple design principle behind the Effortless Healing Companion: specificity without authority
- How repetition and safety can create a felt sense of support even before the interaction begins
If you’ve felt exhausted trying to do healing “the right way,” this episode offers a quieter perspective.
Your body may not need more effort.
It may simply need a space where it’s safe to listen again.
If this episode felt like it was speaking directly to where you are… not ahead of you, not behind you, but right here in the middle of your own becoming…
The Effortless Healing Companion is a gentle, body-led space I built for women who are tired of being told what to do — but don't want to heal alone.
The next cohort opens August 3rd.
The Companion was built for this quiet work. The peeling back. The listening. The allowing.

For now, keep listening. Your body already knows the way.
Let me tell you what actually happens, not what the Effortless Healing Companion is built to do, not what the research says about the nervous system regulation. What happens when a woman types three words and waits? See, during the pilot, there was only one way to interact with the companion. She typed today's reflection. Please. There was no onboarding ritual. No intake form, no. How are you feeling on a scale of 1 to 10? Just those three words and then a response. It was not a plan, not an analysis, not a protocol, not something she needed to solve. Just a grounding line. One sentence designed to help her body feel safe and at ease without performing for it. Something like you are here. Nothing is needed from you right now. One of the pilot users. One woman messaged me after a third day. She said she hadn't realized how much she had been bracing. Not for a specific crisis as such, but just bracing that low level tightening that becomes so constant that you actually stop noticing it. And when she read that first line, something in her chest released and she was able to breathe. She hadn't expected that from a text on a screen, and neither had I. The first time it happened to me. And after this grounding line, the companion offers one thing. Sometimes it's a gentle question. It's soft, open. There is no correct answer. It's actually a doorway inwards if she wants to walk through it. And sometimes it's just nothing more than permission because the companion tells you if you want, you can stay here for a moment. If not, that's fine too. You haven't missed anything. That's how it ends. Not with homework. Not with the follow up. Not with a subtle push to go deeper, but with sufficiency, but with the feeling of just being enough. And I want to tell you something about how I designed this, how I designed the Effortless Healing Companion. I spent almost ten years watching women exhaust themselves, trying to heal correctly, in the right manner, in the right fashion, and perfectly following the protocols, completing the practice, tracking the markers, finishing the programs, doing the diets, lifting the weights. And beneath all of that effort was the same quiet belief. If I do just enough, I finally be okay. The companion was built to interrupt that. Not by teaching a better method. It doesn't. It doesn't even add a gentler routine, but by refusing to extract anything from her, by refusing to or expecting her to perform, every response passes one internal test before it's sent by the companion. That's actually how we have designed it. Does this increase safety without increasing effort? If the answer is no, it doesn't go out. Specificity, you see, is allowed. Authority is not. And during that same pilot that we did for about a month or so, one woman used it regularly for about four weeks, and she told me that the repetition was the point. Same three words, same structure, same predictability, same predictable landing. Right. And that's how we designed it. Not because it's more efficient, but because her nervous system finally began to trust it. She knew what was coming, and it was some version of your not behind. You are not required to perform to be perfect. You can actually exhale. And she said she felt it finally, before she even typed the words, the anticipation of safety in fact became safety itself. And that is not a feature. That's what predictable, non demanding presence does to our nervous system. That's that has lived in effort for years. And this is what the founding membership means in practice.
The founding cohort which means 12 weeks of rhythm predictability trail mix of safety without performance, trail weeks of removing effort instead of adding to it. Not transformation through discipline, but transformation through the steady subtraction of pressure, of expectations. This is what AI looks like artificial intelligence looks like when it's built by a healer. The enrollment closes March 16th. We begin on March 20th.
