Journey To The Soul
Speaking Yourself Well: The Language That Creates Miracles
Have you ever considered how the words you speak might be shaping your health reality? The ancient wisdom "The words you speak become the house you live in" takes on profound meaning in our wellness journeys, especially when navigating health challenges.
When faced with diagnoses like depression, diabetes, cancer, or autoimmune conditions, we often unconsciously claim these as part of our identity with phrases like "I am depressed" or "I have diabetes." This subtle linguistic pattern creates a powerful self-fulfilling prophecy that can keep us trapped in limiting beliefs about our healing potential. What if a simple shift in language could create space for profound transformation?
Your body possesses remarkable self-healing mechanisms that science is still discovering. From healing paper cuts to regenerating cells, our physical forms are designed to restore balance and health. While medical knowledge is valuable, it's constantly evolving, and what seemed impossible decades ago is now commonplace. By acknowledging your innate healing capacity rather than surrendering completely to external prognoses, you reclaim your power in your healing journey.
Drawing from my personal experience with two "incurable" genetic conditions diagnosed before age 24, I've witnessed firsthand how choosing an unconventional path of self-healing can transform supposedly permanent diagnoses into temporary chapters. This journey has taught me that healing miracles happen when we believe in them wholeheartedly while nurturing ourselves physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
Whether you're currently navigating health challenges or supporting someone who is, this episode offers practical language shifts that create psychological space for transformation. Join me in exploring how we can speak ourselves well and embrace the magic of our innate healing capacity. Share your experiences with these concepts – I'd love to hear how they resonate with your journey at on Instagram.

Hi, loves, welcome to the Journey to the Soul podcast. I am your host, jacinda Villa, a spiritual life coach and holistic health coach. Every week, we will be diving deep into all things purpose, wellness, spirituality and creating the life that you dream of. This space is meant to be safe and transformative for you to dive into the deepest parts of yourself. I will share what I have learned from my journey along this path years of research and mentors along the way. Having spent many years living life out of alignment and afraid to go after my dreams, I know firsthand what it means to take the first step down, living a life authentic to you. We are on this road of self-discovery together. It is time for you to live the life you imagined. Hello, loves, welcome to this week's episode. I hope you are all having a wonderful week, wherever you are listening from.
Speaker 1:This week, we are discussing the power of our words and how our words can create the reality that we create for ourselves, and I feel like many of us don't realize how powerful our words and what we say to ourselves, either out loud or within, can constantly reaffirm the reality that we are living or creating a different reality for us, and in today's episode. We're really going to touch on it in the scope of health, and I have just been seeing so many things becoming more and more prevalent, right, more people getting sick, being diagnosed with different diseases, things that were not as common before. More and more people are starting to struggle with we can see it with autoimmune issues, more people struggling with depression, anxiety, cancer. Right, cancer used to be something that was not as common and is so much more common, is so much more common Diabetes the rate of diabetes in the US is just so, so high. Alzheimer's as well. So, in so many different things, so many different sicknesses, diseases these are all becoming more prevalent.
Speaker 1:More people that we know are starting to experience something right or struggle with something, and I just want you to know that, if you are listening to this and you are working through some kind of disease or sickness or health ailment of some kind, it's so important for you to know that you are not your sickness, you are not what you are going through right now, in this moment. And for so many of these diseases you know cancer so many of us feel like cancer is a death sentence or diabetes. It means that our life is going to be, a certain way, right, and it's so integral that, if you are working through something, to not let it define you, because it is just something that you are going through in this moment. It is not who you are, it is just going to be part of a chapter of your life. But you are not your anxiety, you are not your depression, you are not your cancer or whatever else you may be going through.
Speaker 1:The other thing that we need to be conscious of is the words you speak. Simply affirm that reality, and it can be with anything in life, and today we're just talking about health, a health challenge that you are working towards or a goal that you are working towards in life. The language that we use to speak about those things is so important and I'm going to be making another video discussing the same concepts, but when it comes to other things but this episode is just specifically regarding health and you know, sickness, disease, things like that so we need to be super mindful of the verbiage that we are using when we're discussing it. Right, most of us say I am depressed, I have diabetes, I have cancer, my anxiety. Right, we usually tie it to ourselves. We say I have, which means that it is a part of us, or that you are right, I am and the way that we are saying these things, that particular verbiage, is simply a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Speaker 1:There is a quote by the Persian poet Hefez I believe that's how you pronounce it and I heard it so long ago I was probably 16 and it is by far one of my favorite favorite quotes and it has stuck with me for so long. And it says the words you speak become the house you live in. And this is just telling us right that what we say to ourselves creates our reality for us. And the verbiage of I am depressed or I have diabetes or my anxiety this just makes the disease a part of you, and it is not. This is simply just something that you are working through in this chapter of your life. You are not a diagnosis, you are not a symptom, you are not any of those things.
Speaker 1:And in order to believe that this is just a chapter of your life that is teaching you so much, I think you also need to be a believer of miracles, because it's about not letting science, medicine, doctors, people in your life limit your perspective of what is possible. People in your life limit your perspective of what is possible, because so many of us do tie, you know, a disease, a sickness, with certain things and, like I was using cancer before, for many of us, cancer can mean like a life or death situation, right, where the prognosis cannot always be good. Right, and we need to lean into the light with any of these things. We need to lean into the light with depression, with anxiety, with autoimmune issues. We need to believe that something other than what is being told to us, which is not always positive and supportive, is possible. And we need to keep in mind that doctors only know what they know and even with medicine, we are constantly expanding our horizons. With that right, what we knew a hundred years ago is nothing compared to what we knew today. So this is constantly evolving, constantly changing, and we do hear about stories about people who healed themselves from the most incredible things physically. It is not impossible, it is not just something that we can dream about and wish that it could exist in another life. For us, that is a reality for us and that's up to us to lean into the light of these things so that we can believe that it's a possibility for us.
Speaker 1:Our bodies are truly incredible things. They're self-healing mechanisms. They are created to constantly be healing themselves, and it doesn't matter if it's a paper cut, it doesn't matter if it's a flu, it doesn't matter if it's cancer cells in the body. Our body has incredible healing capacities and it's so important for us to realize that that they can do the most wondrous things. Even science doesn't fully understand all of the inner workings of our body. Just like we don't know what's out there in space and we're just getting to know the planets next door. Now it's the same with our body. There are certain areas of our body, certain realms of our body and our being that science still doesn't fully understand or have answers for. So we can't give all of our power away to people who we think have all the answers, because doctors don't, medicine doesn't. People in our lives who might have an opinion about how we choose to approach something, although they might say it in a loving way, they don't know what is truly best for us and also what is always possible for us.
Speaker 1:And for some of you that may be listening, you might be going through some kind of experience and this may be a very real thing, something that challenges you every single day, and if you are struggling with something, I'm not discounting that, but I just want to shed light on the fact that our bodies have an incredible capacity to heal. We can heal ourselves from anything. The thing that we sometimes don't allow is just simply allowing space for that to happen and to believe in the power of that, versus the power of what doctors or medicine tells you that this is your prognosis. Therefore, this is what your life is going to look like. You have diabetes. Therefore, you have to take metformin or insulin for the rest of your life. You have depression and you're just going to struggle with that on and off for the rest of your life, and that's just not true. That is not true. We can't let that be the words that create our house. Right? We need to use words that are supportive of creating a house that is disease-free, sickness-free, free of all physical ailments.
Speaker 1:I know I've talked about this in another episode. I mention Louise Hay and her teachings a lot, and she talks about this all the time in her books. Any disease in the body is simply dis-ease, unease within ourselves that is creating a physical manifestation of some sort. Our bodies are mirrors of what is going on within us Our thoughts, emotions, patterns that we have within ourselves have the power to either create harmony or disharmony within the body. They are either reaffirming that reality or creating a new one. So it's important for us to reaffirm the reality that we want.
Speaker 1:I do just want to say, too, that so many of these thoughts, emotions, patterns that create these physical ailments, for many of us they can be unconscious. We might not even know what those things could be. If we took the path to healing and giving ourselves space to heal, it would be necessary for us to give ourselves the space to explore what those things could really be. If you've never heard about how our emotional and mental patterns create disease in the body, I would love if you approach this with a little bit of curiosity, if you've never thought of it this way, because it really is another way to think about these things, to think about the power that they have, and if you see how certain thoughts are tied to certain diseases, it might baffle you a little bit. So the choice is ultimately ours to not limit ourselves to a sickness and to focus on more supportive speech as we work through this experience, for whatever time it's in our life.
Speaker 1:And some examples of what that might look like is I am feeling blank. So, instead of saying I am anxious, we can say I am feeling anxious, I am feeling depressed. We can also say I am healing from. I am healing from lupus, I am healing from hypothyroidism, I am healing from cancer. You can also just simply say I am working through some health issues at the moment. Right, if you need to have a conversation with someone and A you don't want to give more power to what that thing is, but that thing might be a very real thing in your life. That is taking up space and you feel like you do want to say something. You can just simply say I am working through some health issues at the moment.
Speaker 1:For someone who is actively working through a disease or a diagnosis, using these statements can be more supportive as we move through them, as you move through them, because it allows us to feel the impermanence of what that thing is, because it's a feeling in this moment in time or it's just something that is with us for this season of life. This chapter, this is simply what you are experiencing and feeling in this moment. It also separates you from the disease, because you are no longer your cancer or your diabetes. You are simply healing from it or you are simply working through it, and those words are going to make the world of a difference to us as we go through this chapter of our lives, and some days might be harder than others. If you are working through something, and it's so important for you to stay resilient, to stay rooted in your beliefs, that this is just a moment in time in your beautiful life. This will not be your whole life if we choose that truth for ourselves, and it's so empowering to know that we have the option, that that option is there for us to take if we want it is there for us to take if we want it.
Speaker 1:I hope that if you are listening to this and you are experiencing working through some kind of disease or sickness, that this shows you how much power you have to make this experience something different than perhaps it has been for you so far, and how what we say is always creating a certain reality for us in our lives, with our health, with our life, with our career, with our family. In every aspect of our life. The same principles that we talked about here today exist, but I hope you see how much you can really make this whatever it is that you want. You can lean into the season, decide to learn whatever lessons are coming up with this season. Decide to learn whatever lessons are coming up with this and then move past it. You have that ability. You are magic. Don't forget that. Don't let anyone else tell you otherwise or deter you from choosing to live life more unconventionally than what is normal and believing in your self-healing abilities, because they are within you. They're there. It's just a choice for us to want to tap into them, to allow ourselves to tap into them.
Speaker 1:And this is something that, for me, is so close to my heart, because, before the age of 24, I was actually diagnosed with two genetic diseases that have no cures, according to doctors, and they're both degenerative in nature, and I have chosen to live unconventionally.
Speaker 1:I have chosen to believe that no disease defines you, and this has been my path, regardless of what doctors, family friends have told me throughout my life. This is a path I have chosen to walk and it's a path of nurturing myself, my mind, my body and soul, because I know that magic lives within each and every one of us. Believe that miracles exist in the world, because they do, and if you believe it with all your heart, incredible things can happen.
