REPRESENTED with Annie Gichuru
Welcome to REPRESENTED, the podcast.
This is your weekly dose of inspiration thatโll support you to build a racially inclusive online business without letting the fear of getting it wrong get in the way. These episodes will provide insights, strategies, and discussions that break down barriers and empower you to navigate the racial equity landscape.
Iโm Annie Gichuru, your host as well as a Racial Equity Coach who supports online business owners such as coaches, course creators, membership owners and group program facilitators. Itโs my calling in nature and ability to break-down complex and often uncomfortable conversations around race that has seen me teach over 100 online business owners to be more racially inclusive through my online program REPRESENTED.
Be sure to subscribe, rate and review so this podcast can reach more online business owners and begin to not only normalise racial inclusion in the online coaching space but see us actively shift our perspectives.

57. Building a 6 Figure Micro Agency Ft. Eman Ismail
When was the last time you questioned whether the path you were on was truly yours?
For Eman Ismail, that moment came when she found herself racing home from a corporate job, hoping her two-year-old son would still be awake. Night after night, she arrived to find him fast asleep on the couch, waiting for her. That moment of heartbreak became the catalyst for a radical shift: leaving behind traditional employment to build a business on her own terms.
In this episode of Represented, Eman shares her journey from being a burnt-out communications officer to becoming a sought-after email strategist and founder of a thriving micro agency. We talk about the realities of entrepreneurship as a Black, Muslim woman in an industry that often lacks representation, the power of email in driving sales, and why AI will never replace human strategy.
We also discuss:
๐ The real reason she left her job and why failure wasnโt an option.
๐ How motherhood shaped her approach to business and freedom.
๐ The importance of representation in entrepreneurship (and how exclusion still operates in online spaces).
๐ The biggest mistake she made in business and what it taught her about boundaries and ideal clients.
๐ What online business owners get wrong about email strategy (and how to fix it).
If youโve ever felt trapped in a system that wasnโt built for you, struggled to see yourself represented in your industry, or wondered how to make your emails actually sell, this conversation is for you.
