Speaker 1:

Welcome to the Crush Anxiety Podcast. If you're an anxious high achiever who's looking to reduce stress, manage your mind and achieve more with your time, you're in the right place. My friend, I'm Dr Ali Wood, a psychiatrist and life coach, and I've spent years trying to science the shit out of my own anxiety and that of others, and I'm here to share with you the top strategies that I've learned along the way that will help you break free and become unstoppable. So let's crush it, alright. My friends, I am so excited to welcome you to episode one of the Crush Anxiety Podcast.

Speaker 1:

This podcast has been in the back of my mind and something that I've wanted to do for the past couple of years, and I am so ready to finally get started. So when putting together the outline for this very first episode, my number one question was what the hell should I talk about? Right, there's so many directions we could go in. I have so many things I want to share with you, but I decided let's pop the brakes, let's not get ahead of ourselves and let's first set the foundation. So I don't know about you, but whenever I come across anything new, I'm a little skeptical of the person and the content that they're putting out, and if you stick with me long enough, one of the things you'll learn about me is that, outside of my family, the next thing I value most is my time, and I definitely don't want to be wasting yours. So let's tackle the three most important questions you should be asking yourself right now. Who cares so what? And why you Now, who should care about this podcast?

Speaker 1:

This is for anxious high achievers, so those of us who constantly strive for excellence in our lives and set absurdly high standards. Those of us who have hit the jackpot when it comes to accomplishing our goals and achieving success in our careers. Those of us who, on paper, look like we have it all, but on the inside, are fucking exhausted by life. Those of us who are constantly feeling overwhelmed, stressed and unfulfilled and, above all else, those of us who know we haven't found our true purpose yet and are fueled by the unwavering belief that there's something extraordinary waiting for us. But so what, right? So what? Well, crush Anxiety isn't just another self-help podcast, right?

Speaker 1:

The goal of creating this podcast is to dive deep into the neuroscience and psychology of anxiety and achievement and go beyond the surface level of this general advice-giving bullshit that so many people are trying to do. My goal is to provide you with the top, scientifically proven strategies, coupled with the insights from the top thought leaders, that will allow you to work smarter, and not harder, when it comes to crushing your anxiety and performing at a higher level. I am so excited because this year, we are going to dive into four crucial areas that will help pave the way for your transformation. So, first up is stress reduction, and this is really important because this is where we unravel the science of anxiety and stress and equip you with a toolkit to manage and shield yourself from overwhelm. Next up is mind management, and this is where we will learn how to identify and challenge those negative and self-critical thoughts that often hold us back. Third on the list and this is one of my favorites, is embracing discomfort and overcoming avoidance, and during this, we are going to tackle uncomfortable emotions, we are going to conquer fears and we are going to expand our comfort zones. And then, lastly, we will learn how to achieve more with our time. We are going to unlock secrets of effective time management, goal-setting and strategies to conquer those silent self-sabotages of success. So things like procrastination, perfectionism and imposter syndrome.

Speaker 1:

And so, lastly, why me. Why should I be the one you should trust your time with? Well, not only my board-certified psychiatrist and a life coach who has helped transform the lives of many of the people I've worked with, but I've walked the walk, my friend. I am someone who has chronically struggled with high-functioning anxiety. I've lived the life of trying to juggle the roles of mom, wife, doctor and now entrepreneur. I've constantly put pressure on myself to do it all and get it all done. I've gone through the cycles of self-criticism, overthinking and avoidance, and I've hit the big goals, only to still feel stuck and unfulfilled at the end. And then what do we do next? We move that goalpost yet again to the next achievement that we think will bring us happiness, and we just cycle through that. My friend, this path is draining, and that's especially true when the frustration and the irritability that comes along with it starts seeping in your family life and you start to feel like you're going at it all alone. I have learned and I will continue to learn along the way, and I want to share these lessons with you so you can avoid making the same mistakes I've made.

Speaker 1:

This podcast isn't just another source of information. It's a shared experience and a journey for all of us. I'm walking the walk and I'm still doing it to this day, and I want you to come and join me Now. If you've stuck around to this point, I feel like you're probably my kind of person. If that's the case, make sure to hit that subscribe button and spread the word. There's a whole hell of a lot of people like us out there and there's a whole lot more information to come. So talk soon, my friend. Until then, keep kicking ass and crushing it. Just a quick reminder this podcast is presented solely for educational and entertainment purposes only. I am a doctor, I am not your doctor, and listening to these episodes does not establish a doctor-patient relationship. This podcast is not a substitute for the advice of a doctor or other mental health professionals. It's also important to remember that the views expressed are my own and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of any institutions or organizations I may be affiliated with. Got it.
