Andy is a Brit, and a Forest fan from the East Midlands. For 22 years, he was the Chief Editor of Nature Biotechnology. He did his postdoctoral work at King's College London in molecular biology and microbiology. He is currently a Venture Partner at an undisclosed fund in New York City. He is an adjunct professor at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and was cited by Scientific American as among the 100 most influential people in biotechnology
A native of Oaxaca, Mexico, JC got his Ph.D. degree from Columbia University in New York working in the laboratory of Nobel Laureate Eric Kandel. He carried out postdoctoral research at the Instituto Cajal in Madrid. In 2000, he helped launch and became Chief Editor of Nature Reviews Neuroscience in London. Four years later, he returned to New York as Chief Editor of Nature Medicine. In 2014, JC joined Hoffmann-La Roche as Global Head of Academic Relations and Collaborations. He serves on the Boards of multiple biotechnology and non-profit organizations, most recently on the Board of Directors of Keystone Symposia, and is the founder of Haystack Science.
Sebastian Giwa is a co-founder of the Organ Preservation Alliance and the Biostasis Research Institute. He obtained a PhD in Economics at the Stockholm School of Economics and was named a Baker Scholar at Harvard, later working at Bridgewater Associates, Bain and Goldman Sachs. Seb is a also a serial entrepreneur, founding Sylvatica Biotech, Ossium Health, Elevian, and GaiaLife.
William Pao is a physician-scientist whose career has spanned academia,industry and biotech. Motivated by his father’s death from cancer when he was 13, he started his career as a thoracic oncologist, lab researcher and clinical investigator at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York and then Vanderbilt University in Nashville, where he also served as the Division Chief of Haematology/Oncology. Previously Chief Development Officer for Pfizer, and prior to that, Head of the Roche Pharma Research & Early Development unit, he oversaw the discovery and development of portfolios of new molecular entities, many of which have been approved to treat a variety of diseases, from cancer to rare blood disorders. He has advised numerous professional associations, served on the editorial boards of prestigious medical research journals, and received multiple awards and recognitions. He is currently CEO and co-founder of a cancer biotechnology company Revelio Therapeutics
