Dorothy A Derapelian
I have a mental health counseling practice in Meredith, NH, where I have worked since 1986, focusing on play therapy. I am a certified advanced trainer in the Nurtured Heart Approach® and provide training across settings. I also serve as an instructor in the University System of New Hampshire’s Child Welfare Education Program. I earned my degrees from the University of Texas at Austin and the University of New Hampshire. I am the creator and author of Core Attachment Therapy©, a process that supports secure attachment between adopted children and their parents. Along with therapy and teaching, I speak internationally on developmental trauma, attachment, Core Attachment Therapy©, and the Nurtured Heart Approach®. I was awarded the 2023 Nationwide Registries Women of Distinction Honors Edition. Outside of work, I enjoy the outdoors and am the proud adoptive mother of a now-adult daughter whom I adopted from Russia at age six.
