Breathwork and Vibration Introduction
Speaker 1Like when you are in those states of high vibration and you're dancing and you're moving. That's when manifestation happens.
Speaker 1That's when you can create from those places and so getting the you know breathing and getting things out so you're more clear, tapping into that joy that's inside, moving it out, being all together in that energy, that's when things can drop in, that's when magic can happen, because you're already in this state of joy and this state of love and vitality in the universe. And then that's when you're able to create more of that, because the universe works in vibration and frequency right, and so it's like, yeah, when we're able to be in those states, we're much more able to just exude joy and share joy with others and see more joy and create more joy.
Joy Poem and Shelly's Background
Speaker 2Welcome to Breathwork. Today, I'm joined by Shelly, a fellow Breathwork facilitator, whose journey is all about joy, healing and presence. From finding peace through movement to navigating life's tougher moments with grace, shelly brings a vibrant energy that's both grounding and uplifting. In this episode, we talk about the power of moving emotion through the body, using dance, breath and somatic practices as a way to process, release and reconnect. You'll also hear the story behind Joy, juice and walk away with simple, soulful ways to invite more lightness and flow into your day. Let's dive in. Thank you for joining, shelly. I'm so glad that we could get together. I was thinking we could just start with some simple breathing inhales, exhales and then I'll read a little poem that's inspired by a survey that I sent you about joy.
Speaker 2Oh, I love it. Yeah. So just start by taking some nice gentle inhales through the nose, breathing in the sunshine, exhaling any hecticness from la or wherever you are, inhaling again gratitude for this moment and exhaling letting go of anything from the week, inhaling one more time filling with love and exhaling any fear, anything holding you back. Little poem for today Joy, love at play, juicy moments, a glimpse of something golden, dripping with light. Joy, connection to soul, the highest vibration woven into the quiet magic, everyday magic. Joy, the excited anticipation, the sweet unexpected, the childlike wonder, a rebel's calm in the struggle. Joy, a source, always there, filling the cup overflowing Whenever you need. Just breathe and take a sip.
Speaker 1That's amazing. I love that Wow.
Speaker 2Thank you. Yeah, so you had described, or I asked you a little bit about, what joy, juice or joy meant to you, and your practice is called joy juice.
Speaker 1So did I get it right.
Speaker 2Yeah, awesome, so just jumping in. We were supposed to meet two months ago here and the day did not go as planned for you. It sounds like you literally fell off of yeah.
Speaker 1Yes, I had an accident and hurt my arm and my neck, but yeah, now we're back in.
Speaker 2I was looking back at some of the survey questions that I sent you and the night before you had actually answered. I said what the night before you had actually answered. I said what realizations have you had lately? And you responded with I've realized I'm stronger than I think.
Speaker 1Wow.
Speaker 2Yeah, so do you feel like that applies to you, to what's been going on since we last connected?
Speaker 1I think that, yeah, definitely, like through my accident and through so much this has gone on, that I am definitely a lot stronger than I thought. Being able to be in my recovery, being able to kind of get back into my practices, I definitely think it's like some mental and physical strength as well.
Speaker 2And we originally met. I think this is interesting is we were at a breathwork session At I can't remember it was somebody's backyard, oh, yeah. Yeah, yes, and you came in a little bit late and you, like a lot came up for you emotionally in that session and then, you know, fast forward to, we find ourselves, like years later, in an artist's way group together and I feel like during that time I was highly emotional and hearing through a lot, and then you were on the other side of it.
Finding Joy Through Artistic Expression
Speaker 2So it's just like so interesting how people kind of you know go back and forth between these states. And I remember in our artist's way group I felt I don't know I was beating myself up a little bit because people like you were in the group and you're so full of life and just do like literally swimming with dolphins, like you know, and I was just really going through it and so I just think it's like so interesting how people's you know paths cross.
Speaker 2And I almost feel like it's meant to be that we're connecting today, where I feel like we're both kind of on this, like similar wavelength right now.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah, you always, you know, can go through things, and I think it's just being able to be present with what is and going through that.
Speaker 1And, yeah, I was going through a breakup at the time and during that session and was able to really release that and step through it and kind of come into a lot more of my joy and my purpose from doing that.
Speaker 1I think that a bit later on, once I was able to do that, I was able to really step into my flow, step into my joy, step into all of the things that make me me. That's how Joy Juice began, was that I, after that, started to the tagline is like sip on your joy. So I started to do the things that lit me up, that made me feel alive, that made me feel, you know, filled with joy, and I was able to, you know, kind of come through it that way and then now, you know, just kind of in my recovery and kind of coming back in I'm, you know, not at where I normally, you know, feel at my best, but that's where it comes back into leaning into the practices that make you feel like you and leaning into the things that do bring you joy. And we're always on, you know, always on the road, I guess, and you know things can go up and down, but it's just kind of sticking to feeling into what you know makes you really feel good and continuing with that.
Speaker 2Totally.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2The last episode was with Jamie, our mutual friend. And so we dug in a bit about what breathwork is, what the style of breathwork is that we practice. So, anyone who listened to that should have a pretty good understanding. But what the type of breathwork that we are talking about, that we both facilitate, is transformational breathwork, the three-part breath. And so how did you first discover it? That was in London, right.
Speaker 1Yeah, I was in London and, honestly, it was just a way it just connected me to source. So for me, that was really what was so amazing. It was just so clearing and it was, yeah, ability for me to connect with spirit, connect with my higher self, connect with my intuition. And I just fell in love with that practice and wanted to keep utilizing it myself and then also, you know, learn to teach it and share it with as many people as possible, because I think that so often we have things stuck inside that we aren't able to move through, aren't able to get out, transmute and we're not able to really listen to our soul, to our intuition, to what really we're here to do and why we're here. And so I think that, you know, that was really really important for me to be able to share that with others and have others really tap into themselves and tap into their higher self, tap into all of the parts of themselves that are, that are inside.
Speaker 2And, yeah, and so when you say source, you're talking about your true self. Yes, okay.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah. When I say source, I believe that everything is vibration, everything is frequency, everything is God, everything is source, everything is universe, and so when you're able to do practices like transformational breath work, you're able to have a direct line to that higher self or whatever you may. You know, whatever you want to call it and be able to have a dialogue and be able to hear what your higher self is calling you to do, wants you to do, who you know wants you to be.
Speaker 2Do you remember some of the things that came to you in that first session, or, like some of the first ones that were giving you glimpses into your higher self?
Speaker 1Yeah, my first session was just all about self-expression and it was all about that like I am here to be a fully expressed, fully embodied being that is here to spread light, that is here to spread light, that is here to spread joy. Literally everything that has happened in that session it was just you know, I think I've spent lifetimes like going through different karma, different things, and it was like this is your time to be embodied, to share light, to heal, just to be expressed in this life, and so that was that just was incredible for me, to be able to kind of have the permission to be like you are, just here to be your fully embodied self, whatever that is, which is love, which is all of these beautiful things.
Speaker 2Yeah, and so I believe I remember that you were living yeah, you were living in London, in like a smaller area and then through that, so you were, it kind of led you back to LA because you felt like this is where you could be that fully expressed version.
Speaker 1Yeah, it was with that. That was so many things I've done. It's almost been not my choice in the way, in the sense of I feel I've been so led, I've been so guided and I for me it was stepping out of like an old paradigm of a relationship with. You know, he had kids and a family and I was kind of stepping into that role of stepmom and living out a whole other life that I feel like I'd lived out many times before in past lives of just being a wife and a mother and living out that.
Speaker 1And then once I kind of, you know, once I connected to myself and what I needed to do. Once I came back to California, it was just so clear with the people that I met with just all of the different it's hard to explain, I guess, just the energy here, the people here I was hiking in the Redwoods with my ex-partner my partner at the time and just connected with the trees and was just like this is, I just felt very, you know, this is where I needed to be, yeah, and you know I love my home here, I love my family, the community. It just was for me, all energetic. It was just, you know, feelings of that. You know this is where I need to be to express that and to, yeah, carry on my work.
Speaker 2Awesome. So then you decided to dive in and start Joy Juice, which is it's facilitating breath work.
Speaker 1Yeah, that just came to me.
Speaker 1So as soon as I left I mean it was kind of a journey going back and forth with my ex, to be honest, for a while and then as soon as I I think it was in January last year this energy that it just came, it kind of just came through me joy juice like never, you know, never lose your, you know, never lose your soul and keep taking sips of your joy juice.
Speaker 1So that came in just at the beginning of the year there and it just turned into breathwork because I was loving to like using that modality to let people find out truly who they are, why they're here, and then that once they're able to clear all of that out through breath work, they're more able to connect to the things that they love, the things that bring them joy. So that was kind of how that, yeah, that began. And then I also I made like sweatshirts and shirts. I didn't really do much with them but and then it became, you know, I just did my first workshop in December but want to do more about activating your joy frequency. So losing breath, using movement to be able to activate that frequency inside of ourselves. So that's kind of the two modalities that come from that.
Speaker 2I want to get into a little bit more about the movement piece, but I think something that was coming to me when I was preparing for this and just thinking about it is and this might be silly, but I feel like a part of me I think putting a label like Joy Juice on a brand or business, I would be like scared, because joy feels like something that like is only accessible, like during certain times, right, like when you're going through such a tough time. It can be so hard, and it's almost like when people get like tattoos of, like you know, motivational quotes, or like a little word.
Speaker 2It's like how do you live up to that all the time you know? But I guess it is about to like finding know. But I guess it is about to like finding joy in times that are darker.
Speaker 1Yeah, and that's been, you know, tricky for me, you know, this time like kind of going through my healing process and being able to still tap in step into joy.
Speaker 1But yeah, I mean, when it came through and all of last year, everything for me and everything was just like growing and building and knowing that, yeah, you're able to tap into that wherever you are. And then, yeah, this year has been a bit, you know, different for me, obviously, having my accident and, yeah, being able to navigate and, you know, navigate it in the ways that I'm able and being able to find joy and in the small things. But, yeah, I mean, because joy it's a feeling we can have all the time and it's a frequency that we can emit, that we can tap into doing, you know, things like breath, work, doing the things that we love, and I was on just like such a, I think, a great I don't know trajectory with building a lot of my frequency, with what I was doing there, and now, yeah, coming down a bit, we're kind of building back up, but it's something that can always, you can always tap into.
Movement as Medicine: Dancing for Release
Speaker 2Okay, and then getting into the movement part. So yeah, when we were doing the Artist's Way group together, I also had interviewed Elizabeth. That's one of my first episodes and the Artist's Way for anyone who didn't listen to that is basically a 12-week process, a book that walks you through reconnecting with your creative self and part of that.
Speaker 2So I got to know you because we were accountability buddies one week and there's a couple of practices, which is one, doing the morning pages, that we would connect about our morning pages, which is like such a great practice for you know, just reconnecting with yourself every day through writing. And then there's also the artist dates, so taking yourself out once a week to do something that your inner child would want to do, which can look like anything.
Speaker 2I believe you did a lot of great stuff, like you did pottery classes and dance and drumming and like, yeah, could you talk a little bit more about your experience?
Speaker 1Yeah, I think, just with the artist way that was just so incredible of opening me up, kind of opening up our channels, like everyone is a channel, you know, for something and we can all be channels for love and light and joy.
Speaker 1And being in that flow, I feel like I was just always led to different amazing I don't know activities or whatnot. So I did pottery and was able to you know, hadn't done pottery in so long and able to do that and get to make it, get to paint it and yeah, it was just such a beautiful like process for me doing that. And then dance I was able to do Furly. I don't know if anyone knows Furly Prado. She's an incredible dance teacher, she's worked with some of the best. So I was also just led to like I was always because when you're in these, you know, when you're in these trains of I don't know, joy, manifestation, flow, like what you think about, can come through to you. So I was always thinking about dance and I was like I need to do dance. I've been, you know, it's been missing from my life. And then a friend of mine suggested Furley, this dance class, which ended up being like a four-week container where we get to do a music video and we're just dancing yeah, dancing every week and that ended up being incredible.
Speaker 1And then drumming too. It was amazing. I had been really connected to drumming since I went down to this Amazon earlier this year or last year and, you know, was just thinking about like drumming, drumming. And then just I was driving home on a Friday night and was like, oh, I should go pick up a drum from the store and then was just led to go there and didn't know that there was a drumming class going on and it was amazing. The person just said like come in right away, like didn't have to pay, came right in, joined the circle. It was just for me, that was like my soul, like running free, like on the drum, and also just what was magic is that they?
Speaker 1You know I didn't have any money to tip the guy doing that, but then I knew I just was kind of like I know it's going to be there, like I'll be able to, and I never have any cash with me, and I was able to open up my wallet. I was walking up because everyone was like putting a tip on his drum, and then I looked and I had the exact like a 20, what everyone did and put that there. But yeah, that was incredible because I feel like, yeah, when you're in your flow of what you know, what is calling to you, that's always there to meet you too. So I was thinking of kind of pottery. I found that I was thinking about dance, and then I got even more rewarded with this four week container where we did a music video and then with the, with the drumming, like it wasn't just like let's do a drum class. It was an East African drum circle with incredible people playing and yeah, so I was able to do like several, several of them, which were amazing.
Speaker 2And you did watercolor.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah and also, too, like I came back from my surfing, came back from a surfing retreat which was incredible and was able to just yeah, do my watercolor from that. And then, once you start opening it, you know opening the doors like more doors open, like as you continue to flow.
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah, it builds momentum, yeah. So what would you? I guess we will kind of experience that as a result of this group. But yeah, if someone is just not in a flow state right now, meaning that they've you're. I guess. Like not being a flow state is kind of when everything feels just hard you know what I mean and you like have things that you like want to do, but you like don't know how to make it happen and it just kind of feels, yeah, things feel sticky. So I think something like a group is a great way. Is there anything else that you've found to kind of like enter or trigger Flossie?
Speaker 1Yeah, I mean, for me it's running. I love running. For me, like running on the beach, running into the ocean, doing cold plunge, I go to ice pass here in St Is it Venice, which is amazing. Sauna, which I love, what else? And also, just, yeah, any kind of art, so just you know, doing some watercolor, doing you know something, putting pen to paper. But for me, yeah, running is my big one and dance is incredible. So, like always, like moving through the body is just you know the way. So getting up in the morning and like make sure you're getting into your hips and moving is, yeah, is a big one.
Speaker 2Okay. So yeah, the dance I was telling, or when we had breakfast the other morning I was telling you that I yeah, I'm not the best dancer and everyone.
Speaker 1I don't need to be the best dancer. Everyone is an amazing dancer. I do dance around my place, yeah.
Speaker 2But and I was talking to Jamie about this too she was saying that when you're really stressed which I've been super stressed this week with work and it's just like when you're in it, it feels like there's like no way out except to just like keep grinding, you know, and it just I get so worked up. But yeah, and Jamie had said that when you're in that type of situation, like just doing the down-regulating breath, like we started with, is not actually what you should do and it is more of like the movement piece. And you were saying the same thing when we got breakfast and so it was like, okay, I'm going to put on.
Speaker 2I have this one song, like by Florence and the Machine, called Free, and I put it on and I was just like shaking like you said, yeah, how was it?
Speaker 1And I put it on and I was just like shaky, like you said, yeah, and it was, it was really good.
Speaker 2It's like one of those things where you think it like sounds so silly and like it's not going to work, but it really does like kind of help. You I don't know move the energy in a different way and like I did feel more settled. I think, you know, going for a walk is like really good too, because that's like moving your body, but it does seem like something like putting on a song and just like moving is like a great way If you only have maybe like five minutes between calls or something like that is like a great way if you only have maybe like five minutes between calls or something like that.
Speaker 1Yeah, it's just moving this stuck energy Right, and we all have this life force inside of us, eros. You know, it's our life force, it's our vibration and when we start moving and like, especially in our hips, like getting it to move through our body, we're letting go of that stuckness, we're letting go of that like tightness, and just having, yeah, even just like a few minutes to do that is, yeah, helps move it and helps get you back into flow yeah, okay, we can cut whatever part of this.
Speaker 2That doesn't make it, but like, yeah, could we like do something?
Speaker 1yeah, yeah, yeah kind of like part.
Speaker 2Do you have a song or anything?
Speaker 1like yeah or we could?
Speaker 2we don't even have to have music.
Speaker 1I don't know it's from this song, which I love, that I sent to you the other day. Oh yeah, this one, yeah okay, ready yeah, okay, oh, my whole, this is all flowing apart and I can't live with it. But for me it's just like, yeah, it your own energy is, and like moving the hips, yeah and then and it's like, whatever your hand, yeah whatever like feels, whatever feels good to you.
Speaker 1I can't really do it this, yeah, I know, but the trick is just not the trick, but it's just to feel into whatever feels good in your body. So whatever, that is just like going with it.
Speaker 2Do you like shake?
Speaker 1or just like move. Yeah, we can also shake. That's really good. Yeah, getting that out. Anything that really like moves, yeah, moves.
Speaker 2The body moves the energy your video is like.
Speaker 1so good, though, and then also with the hips when you just you know so this is yeah, no, but this is like where we keep so many like stuck emotions is in the hips did you?
Speaker 1were you the one you mentioned, like actually yeah, you can do this too, yeah, and so it's just, yeah, whatever feels, whatever feels good to you, it's just feeling it and moving it through and using your breath too, and you, you can just like inhale, and so it's, yeah, just feeling into the body whatever feels like it wants to move, and just knowing that we're just channels for energy to flow through. And again, like I always, like with the hips, just naturally, like with women, that's where everything is stored is it good for guys too?
Speaker 1yeah absolutely, and this is how I feel like most connected to spirit, just source too. It's just movement and dancing. How are you feeling?
Speaker 2yeah, yeah, it's like really uncomfortable to dance in front of people, obviously, but like I feel the same way whenever um like silent, silent discos you know, on the beach. It's like, at first it's awkward but then you kind of like get into your flow.
Speaker 1Yes, and if you just listen to your heart, where it wants to go is like where you, where it can come through, yeah, how do we feel? I feel good, yeah, yeah, you can make it bigger if you want. That's what. That's what wants to come through, okay good.
Speaker 2Yes, thank you for showing so that people can be inspired yeah, it's all about.
Speaker 1yeah, just moving whatever wants to move through you, you know, and just like connecting to yourself and feeling into that, even if someone's not a dancer. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah and how was that for you Sitting on a song?
Speaker 2Good, I mean like I, yeah, I feel like in the comfort of my home.
Speaker 1I used to want to be a go-go dancer for a while.
Speaker 2Yeah, and so like I feel like that comes more naturally to me like some good house music. But yeah, I'm still finding my way, I think, with just like the physical body, which is something I talked to Jamie about too. Yeah, it's, I don't know why it's so hard for me. What's hard? I do think it's probably just like it's so hard for me. What's hard? I do think it's probably just like just like a moving fluidly, you know, and I do think that things are probably just like stuck you know, yeah.
Speaker 1And then have you, has breath work helped with that Move. That, yeah, I think so yeah. I think breath work for sure.
Speaker 2Cause it is such a physical practice, you know, like the type of breath work that we're talking about, it really does require you to use your body, um, more so than like meditation or something like that. But, yeah, I don't, I'm like trying to, I'm still trying to figure out, like, what is going on with just like, yeah, my hesitation with body related things and, um, because, like recently, I've been going to some shows with friends and just I keep blaming it on, like, oh, this just isn't my type of music, you know, and why I don't feel like, like I'm not feeling it, but, yeah, I think there's probably more there to it, you know, yeah, and I feel like the more that you do it, the more that you just practice and feel, then you know, the easier it becomes.
Speaker 1And also just being I don't know when you're with, and it depends, for me it's when I'm with people too. I love the energy of other people that you're able to create and able to kind of activate each other in that way.
Speaker 2But you have a dance background right? No, oh, you don't Okay. No, no, no.
Speaker 1It's just like the language of my soul is the dance. Yeah, just in its own.
The Art of Manifestation and Trust
Speaker 2Yeah, because I was telling you. I think that one of the things for me that I know is preventing me is, just like in life, I always want to know exactly how to do something is just like in life, I always want to know exactly how to do something, and if I don't know, if I haven't done like a course or like whatever, I feel like I can't do it. You know, and I feel like I'm doing that with dance for sure because, as part of the artist's way and like artist, dates.
Speaker 2I was really like okay, I want to challenge myself to take a dance class, but even that, I think that, I don't know, I would be a little bit rigid about it For a dance class?
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah, yeah, but maybe being in that is what helps you. You know, for me, I just, yeah, I love being in the energy with other people and that's how you're able to kind of yeah, I don't know open up more. And yeah, I would encourage you to do that though. Yeah, mine was that's the last class that I had taken was the four week container that I did. That was amazing. But yeah, just always moving the body is you know.
Speaker 2Yeah, I'm getting cause like so much. I think a lot of people were now just at our computer working and just like using our minds.
Speaker 2And then I think what's beautiful about the body piece too is it's like we all get really caught up in like AI and how great AI is, and it's like artificial intelligence and then like using it to like fast track your day and like you're just like all in your, like I'm just like my head, so much you know, and then it's so interesting Like you kind of forget about this like whole like vessel. You know that you have, yeah.
Speaker 1The body is the vessel for our spirit. You know, that's how the spirit speaks and moves, is through the body and not in the mind. And the more practices that we can do to just tap into the body and let that move and speak like that's where it is and not, you know, just thinking about the things to do, it's listening to what feels good for us and then the more we train that we can learn what feels good in other situations. You know, do I do this, Do I do that? So it's all about listening to yeah, listening to the body when you move it, when you breathe, like how does that feel? And really knowing your yeses and knowing your no's in that way.
Speaker 2And so, when you incorporate because you said that you want to start incorporating movement more into these experiences that you're hosting with breath work what does that look like?
Speaker 1Yeah, it looks like I mean I love doing my joy frequency workshop, so doing more of those where we did we did seated breath practice and then movement, but then also doing, yeah, just more, just movement itself, coming in and just doing. You know, maybe more of that. First, and I also want to work with I have a friend of mine who studies happiness and we want or happiness, joy and we wanted to do more of a combined experience, of an embodied experience, but also kind of learning about learning about joy, learning about happiness. But yeah, for me I also love using cold plunge as well and so maybe using that and using dance, and I'd love to do retreats too, where we are able to do a lot of dance, a lot of movement, along with breathing, along with with the plunge as well. But yeah, so more to come.
Speaker 2I will say that, yeah, whenever there has been a little bit of movement incorporated. I haven't taken your class yet, but in Jamie's a little bit I do feel like the breath does like open you up, like so much to be more like in your body and make you feel like a little bit more expressive.
Speaker 1Exactly, and that's what I found when I did my first workshop in December, which was, yeah, using the breath. First I did like a 20 minute seated practice. That was quite deep, and then we moved into feeling joy in our bodies, in our hearts, looking at what kind of things brought us joy, what are some memories that we could feel into, and then we moved that into the body and then we were able to express and move in that way. So that trajectory was really great Opening it with breath, kind of connecting to different things that are joyful in our lives and then bringing it out into dance, to different things that are joyful in our lives and then bringing it out into dance and also, too, like when you are in those states of high vibration and you're dancing and you're moving that's when manifestation happens, that's when
Speaker 1you can create from those places and so getting the you know breathing and getting things out so you're more clear, tapping into that joy. That's inside, moving it out, being all together in that energy, that's when things can drop in, that's when magic can happen, because you're already in this state of joy and this state of love and vitality in the universe. And then that's when you're able to create more of that, because the universe works in vibration and frequency right, and so it's like, yeah, when we're able to be in those states, we're much more able to just exude joy and share joy with others and see more joy and create more joy.
Speaker 2So yeah, you're at the higher frequency, so then it's attracting more like higher frequency things.
Speaker 1Yeah, that's, you know. That's just, I think, the beautiful part of it. It's coming from a place and an energy where you're already filled with joy in yourself, in your life and everything that's there. You're not looking for something to make you happy. You know you're not trying to take something, you're trying to add something, you're trying to create something, and so when you're in that energy, then you'll see more of that in the world, you'll experience more of that, you'll even receive more of that. So it's kind of the yeah, back entryway into creating everything that you want to create and receive everything, whether that's, yeah, like a job or just an opportunity or like a partner.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah, and it's like the universe loves specificity, right, so you can use when I did in my workshop too. It's like you can be dancing for the planet. You could be dancing for some, you know, bigger mission. You could be dancing your prayers. You can be, and that's what the way like that, yeah.
Speaker 2Dancing your prayers.
Speaker 1I like that a lot, that's something that I want to yeah also Love it, also get into.
Speaker 2I wanted to start doing on the beach like joy moon parties, where we have where we're on the beach, we're all dancing together, we're in these higher vibrations, higher frequency, and able to pray, able to create, yeah, all together. So, yeah, I definitely want to join that. Yeah, another little hack that I took from you for in terms of like journaling and morning pages is you in terms of manifesting writing and the morning pages? Is you in terms of manifesting writing? I can't wait to? And then whatever you want you know, versus saying like someday I would like to you know, actually like saying I can't wait or you're excited about it and showing enthusiasm and you've seen success.
Speaker 1Oh, my gosh Like my whole life, my whole life has been a creation of that.
Speaker 1So, yeah, it's just speaking as if it's already happened, like I can't wait to be doing this next week, I can't be wait to be with my partner doing this at this time, I can't wait to be creating this, or I love this job so much that I'm doing. And so it's acting and speaking in a way as if it's already happened, and the universe doesn't know the difference between like if it's happening, or if it's like you thinking it's happening, right. So if you're like, believing it's happening and it is, then it's. It shows you that, um, shows you that later on, yeah, so, always being in, you know, being in the future, it's like the future is now right, everything is now. So if you're creating something, even a week from now, a month from now, your partner, your job, it's all happening right now, right? So if you're like I'm so excited I'm doing this, I can't wait to be doing this, like that's happening, you know so yeah, yeah, it takes a level of trust for sure.
Speaker 1I think too, like when you're writing it, believing it yeah, that's the whole thing, it's believing it. And I think when you do like little, that's what's so beautiful, when you can kind of track like little miracles and little things that happen every day that are like, oh, wow, that's magic, that's magic, I found this. And that builds your trust and your confidence to know that, wow, really anything is possible. And the more you grow in that energy of believing in the smaller things, you believe into the bigger things and then anything is possible.
Speaker 2Yes, exactly On Wednesday at my growth group we were talking about miracles. That was the theme and people are nervous to ask for miracles because you think of miracles as this like big, like thing, that's like impossible, you know, like turning water into wine, can it, you know? But yeah, it is like the little every day ones. Yeah, like I think that's mainly what miracles are.
Speaker 1It's like a collection yeah, but also big miracles. I mean you can, you know, partner, like with my last partner, manifest my partner manifested my home, manifested my work, all of these things, friends, community, so much that has happened Cause it's small and big.
Speaker 1And I think, where we're at though now, it's like we're called, I think, to step into bigger manifestations, bigger miracles. Like small is always great too of like this is great, this is great. But when you really know that, like you are co-creating with the universe and you can create anything that you wish, that is stepping into big. You know, yeah to big manifestations. Like I said, my partner before my home, my next home, my home here, my friends, my opportunities that I've created, the retreats, that everything has been a complete manifestation of what was in my soul. So I think, yeah, the practice is just practicing with the smaller ones and then getting bigger and bigger, and then also it's like, why not you?
Speaker 1know why not say, because it's like you could be wrong and you could be wrong, but why not say like I can't wait that this is happening, I'm believing this is happening, and like putting your whole body, life and trust into that, because if it doesn't, then it doesn't?
Speaker 2I think it's the fear around it, like somebody in my group expressed that, yeah, she doesn't want to anymore because she's fearful that it's not going to turn out. And then you're met with that disappointment and then that makes you not trust like future things. Right, yeah, but I mean that's not a great reason, yeah.
Speaker 1I think it's knowing. I think it's getting to a place where you're so fulfilled and you're so happy and you're so like it doesn't matter if that thing happens or not. You know that's where you have to get through. It doesn't matter if you meet that person or not, it doesn't matter if you get that job or not, it doesn't matter if you know this opportunity happens because you're so happy and fulfilled and excited and like you know, and so you're putting it out there as if it's happened and you already know it's yours. And I mean, I believe it does happen. But if it doesn't, then it's not like you needed it to make you happy. It's not like I needed that guy and then I'm happy, I needed this job and then I'm happy, you know. So yeah, so why not just like play and like put full force and full trust like into that idea or promise or you know, whatever that may be? And then yeah, and then, if it doesn't happen, you're still already you know, you're happy, you're fulfilled, you're excited about other things.
Speaker 2Yeah, so if somebody has, they're sitting here and they have a desire like what would you say? Like practical, step by step, like you know how to approach that.
Speaker 1Yeah, so I believe. So desires come from our soul, like come from our heart, right? So if that is in your soul to have, it's meant for you and if you allow it, it will come to you. That's what it is. And so, knowing that that desire is in your heart, knowing that what you're seeking is seeking you, so actually, all you have to do is get out of your way of things that are blocking you from attracting that.
Practical Joy Practices for Daily Life
Speaker 1So, if there's it's, knowing that, believing that it's for you and it's the thing is looking for you as well, trusting in that and knowing, though, also, if you don't have it, then you're equally like happy and fulfilled and excited and whatnot. But then also believing in you know we are all, I believe, walking manifestations of God, of source of creation, and we are all meant to live an abundant, beautiful, expressed life, and so, under believing in that and knowing that that that is who we are meant to be and that's everything is for us, the universe is like vastly abundant. That knowing you know, adopting that belief and knowing that, and then you know, knowing that, again, what you're seeking is seeking you.
Speaker 2I think that's kind of what's come through with that, yeah, and then also, I guess, just what that looks like like practical applications, would you say, is like doing practices, like breathwork or like excited dancer or whatever you know?
Speaker 1Yeah, it's like I would say doing breath, work, doing dance, because that frees up your body, right Like when things are all contracted, you aren't able to receive, you aren't able to give, you aren't able to create when you're all, yeah, when you're all yeah, when you're all contracted.
Speaker 1So those practices that open you up to movement and open you up to breath, keep your channel open, right, and so anything you can do to keep your channel open and clear. So eating great foods, drinking great water, getting great sleep, using those embodiment practices. Writing down little miracles you see every day, writing down oh wow, the sun was shining, that's so beautiful, like I saw this tree. So like looking at all, like focusing on all the positive things, right, like everywhere you go, you just seeing the positive, and then also writing little. I had a little sticker on my, on my mirror that said like best day ever, you know, and so it's like every single day can be the best day ever.
Speaker 1So things like that and just writing that like what I seek is seeking me those kinds of things, but the what I seek is seeking me those kinds of things, but the real, yeah. And so the mind part about knowing, like I said, like everything is for us, everything is on the way. I think what I want to share is that, I don't know, maybe just reiterating that to me everything is found through the body, so whatever, just getting any kind of movement in is just to me like so important any type of breath in, and to me, dancing in the mornings, like when you wake up and put on your music and just kind of like feel into your flow and even if you don't feel into the state you want to be in, you can move yourself into the state you want to be in. So I've been trying to do that too with my recovery now, like dancing and putting myself into the energy that I want to create.
Speaker 2And that looks like kind of just waking up and first thing putting on a song.
Speaker 1Yeah, for me it's like. My usual routine is like I wake up, I'll meditate for 15 minutes, I'll do my morning pages and then I'll, yeah, put on music and just do like two, three songs to get into that. And yeah, to me that's just kind of how everything flows and how everything you know can, you know, break up like the stuckness that you have inside.
Speaker 2So thank you so much for joining in today, Shelly. It's like so great to talk.
Speaker 1I know, I know I was glad when we talked last week. That was yeah, that was nice.
Speaker 2Well, just I mean mean speaking of joy honestly, like that. I was walking back from breakfast, so we grabbed breakfast on a Thursday morning and usually I'm just busy, busy, busy with work and I was like no, like where I'm going to meet Shelly. Yeah, I walked there, yeah, and then I feel like I feel like I've just been so closed off lately in my own little bubble and like it's been causing just a lot of like psychological pain.
Speaker 2You don't even just like really like loneliness kind of, and I'm like there has to be more to life. So like I walked to meet you and then all of a sudden it's like you know we're talking to, like other people in the restaurant and just having a lovely conversation. I'm like walking back and I was like this is what life is about. You know, like truly and not just being in front of a computer. You know, and it's just like funny, how like those little things like that can make such a difference. Yeah.
Speaker 1Yeah, exactly, I think, yeah, all the little things that you can do, yeah, just like walking outside and knowing that when you do that you'll see someone else and then you'll, you know, speak you'll something. You know something will come from that. And yeah, I think, with a lot of my injuries, that's happened this last couple of months. It's been, you know, reminding myself to do you know, all the little things that, like you know, really, really add up and like get you in that, you know, in that motion, yeah, and that's what I was saying yeah, well, I'm excited for, yeah, what's to come.
Speaker 1Yeah, I know, thank you, I know.
Speaker 2Thanks for tuning in. If something from today's conversation resonated with you, give yourself a moment to let it settle and feel the feels you resonated with you.
