francene:

Hold on. And I have this, like, shitty, like, oyster bae.

coryne:

I mean, I don't know how it just was a brute rose and, you know, that's like one of my favorite things. All right, let's see if we can hear this thing on the, if I can open it gracefully, it'll be the other trip. Oh God. Of course. The hardest one ever. Look at my nails. I got them done. Oh, they're

francene:

so nice. Like ombre. Yes. Like valentines. This oyster baked tastes like shit.

coryne:

I love enjoying it. You'll just,

francene:

but I'm like, gotta do it for the bod.

coryne:

Oh, here we go. Hey, ready? It's about to happen. I'm ready. Let's get this podcast started. Boom! Hey, I know. Oh, that's amazing. I'll never forget one time I was trying to dramatically pop a champagne cork to get that like effect for, it was someone's birth, it was something, I can't remember what it was. I was like, oh god, professional, I got this, I can do it. It was the most anticlimactic pop ever. It was like, it just like,

francene:

Have you, have you ever had it where I don't know if I've been like traveling, but you put it down and I go to like open it and then I leave it as I'm like chit chatting. And then because you've uncourt the What do you call it? The netting around it. It just like

coryne:

pops off. No, I had to have him one time in shoe bar because you know, it would get warm in there in the summer. And I had like changed out the bottle and then somebody was checking out. And so I hadn't pulled the cork out yet, but I had gotten all of, you know, this stuff off of it. Yeah. Like they're talking with a customer, like blah, blah, blah, and all of a sudden the was like, and it was like, boom, like loud. Cause it was like warm. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It scared the crap out of all of us. That was

francene:

so funny. Wait, what? What was the brand that you used to get? Shoe

coryne:

bar, Alan Christopher. I still buy it. I don't know why I've forgotten that. I love that. It was such a good champagne. It's it's specs and it's a true French. It's real champagne because, you know, Only real. Yeah, this stuff we'd like to call champagne. So great. And that stuff was like back then, if I bought it in the case, I swear, I was buying it for like 6 and 80 cents a bottle. Like now, now I have to, I mean, I think the last time I bought it, cause I only have ever found it at specs. And one time I was in a restaurant, I was on a menu and I got really excited. Probably paid

francene:

like triple at that point.

coryne:

Right. But I was like, well, I know this shit, but I think, I think now it specs is still like, I think it's still like a 10 bottle. Oh, that's not

francene:

bad. No.

coryne:

It's right. Yeah. For what it is. That champagne is phenomenal. Like, yeah, it's better than Shen Don. It's better than Vu. Like it's amazing. And it's, yeah, I mean, it's like a 10 bottle. Super cheap.

francene:

Yeah. Maybe. Oh, my God. Maybe that's what we should get for the pods. It should be our everything. That should be the thing. Yeah. And then you can continue it. Everything you do. Sponsor

coryne:

us. Another sponsor, please. Ellie and Christopher. Around

francene:

the Runway has not, not contacted us yet. Don't know why.

coryne:

Super

francene:

fashionable.

coryne:

I texted you yesterday. I was driving a little bit and I was like, oh, I'm going to listen to this week's pod. And I was like, Oh yeah, I totally forgot about it too. We have one this week. I was like, oh, we got to get on our shit. Our fans. Our fans are awaiting our next episode. Okay. So, okay. I have to say that when I turned on episode six, immediately I knew like in that first scene, I was like, it's this episode. I can't wait to talk about this. I was so excited. This is one of my all time favorites.

francene:

Oh, yay. Good then. So, season one, episode six, Secret Sex, and now we're officially halfway through season one because there's only 12

coryne:

episodes. Oh, wow. We are. Also, this episode is like 23 minutes long. What the hell?

francene:

I know. These episodes, honestly, Corinne, these episodes are so long. It's so freaking short

coryne:

that so quick, but I

francene:

struggle not to just constantly

coryne:

move on. It's so hard when you get to the end of like our homework. It's like, no, I have to stop. I know. Yeah. I won't remember it all. No. Same, same. Yeah. So this one opens with Carrie's apartment and Carrie is about to go on her very first real date with big and she's wearing it No, that's not how it opens it. Oh, yes photo shoot. Oh, yeah, you're right Yeah, it opens your photo shoot for the side of the bus and she's wearing the dress The naked dress. The naked dress. And she looks so freaking hot. Oh, I know. And it's so funny to watch that scene where they're doing the photo shoot and it looks like so low rent. Like, Like the studio and the setting and all, but the picture they got of her that's, you know, infamous of sex in the city and this episode and on the bus and all that really well, well done photo. But I was like, well, like set up of low production, very low production for sure. And then they cut to the, her apartment. All the girls are over popping champagne, which I love. I know. I love that they all got together to like, send her off on her date. And it was champagne. I was a big fan of all of

francene:

those things. Yes. And they were drinking Viv. And I was like, yes, I love that

coryne:

too. And I love how it's like the, again, like we get in every episode, like the three different points of view of the outfit that she chose to wear, you know, because she looks amazing in that dress. And I love how Samantha is like, It's tits on toast. Like, do you girl? And then Samantha's like, Oh, her. This is amazing. I love it. I can't remember exactly what she said. And then Charlotte's like offended. Yeah, she

francene:

really is. She's like, And I love, to your point, like, it's such a girly, like, piece for them to, like, kick off the episode that way, and just, like, see their friendship, but yes, I appreciate the extremes of how each of them kind of felt, and then they all then had the discussion on, well, so what if we fuck on the first date? Like, what would be wrong with that? And then obviously Charlotte is like, No, no, no, you can't, no, no, no, you can't do that. It's a first date. No,

coryne:

no, no. We do?

francene:

We don't do that. Martha's like, do it.

coryne:

Yeah, if you do it, you do it. And what was Miranda's opinion? I can't remember. She's always like in between the two of them. I

francene:

think she was also like, like, why

coryne:

not? Yeah, like, what does it matter? If it happens, it happens. Yes, I

francene:

think she was.

coryne:

Charlotte was definitely offended. She did not think it was appropriate. Oh my

francene:

God. Yes. I actually wrote down the quote. What was it? So Samantha was like, hey honey, it's fabulous. Bravo. Miranda, it's tits on totes. Tits on totes, baby, but you make it work. And Charlotte's like, well, let's just say it. It's a naked dress. It's a

coryne:

naked dress and it's Charlotte who coined the phrase, which like, I love that so much. Like you could say the word naked dress to me at any moment in time and I know exactly what you're talking about. Like that is the dress for sure. I love that dress. So then she puts on. The fur that we're all obsessed with and that makes appearances in like, damn, especially this season and big shows up in his town car and picks her up. And I loved. Yes, I loved his reaction to the dress. Like he was like. Like couldn't like, you know, eyes are up and down and he's like, nice dress.

francene:

He's like interesting dress and she's like interesting and he's like interesting dress, but I love and then the scene. So after this, they then get into the car. And oh my God, I just love the sexual tension between them. They did it so fricking well, the way they were like looking at one another. And he kept on looking down and I was like, Oh, they're going to do it.

coryne:

And I love how they both felt the need to say out loud. Don't worry, I can handle this or I can. Yes. And Carrie's like, Oh, me too. And then like three. Two. Boom. And then while they're making out, I'm like, this is not a limousine, this is a town car. I can reach out and touch that dude. He's like right

francene:

there. What are we doing? That poor guy must have seen so much from Mr. Big, right? Why have we never spoken about the poor driver, Mr. Big, having to deal with all this freaking drama? He must have been like, oh big, this is, this is trouble. With

coryne:

Carrie that take place in or outside of that town car and like the driver. And we do meet the driver later in later

francene:

seasons. Isn't his name like Raul? Raul or something?

coryne:

Is it? Or is that it? It might be it. Something to the outside. I

francene:

remember he was like standing outside the car at one point. Waiting.

coryne:

I remember that episode too. Yeah, I remember that. Anyway, so, cut to They're on the floor in I think Biggs apartment and they've had sex and they're like laying next to each other On the

francene:

floor, by the way. Yeah, which I'm like, I don't know like I get it if you ended up on the floor I'm like if I had a choice I feel like I wanted that. I don't want my knees getting, like, sore.

coryne:

Like a chase or like, I mean Anywhere

francene:

else, but like, you guys are in the corner of the, like, bedroom too, like, crammed

coryne:

in. The bedroom looks so small, which is funny because big is like, so wealthy and like, I mean, I know it's New York, but still, even for big, that seemed like a fairly small

francene:

You can tell the, the budget for season one was not like the full shoot big apartment. You're like, sure, you're a millionaire

coryne:

Sure. But no, I love, I think that they probably did that to like give it the allure of like it was so hot and heavy and rushed. Like this is just where we ended up. I think so too. I mean, I don't know how realistic that is. Yeah, so I love how they're like laying next to each other and Carrie's already in her monologuing like I've really fucked this up and I love how she's like pep talking herself and she's like, if he never calls me again, I will remember him fondly. Yes, I won't get my feelings hurt. And I'll remember him probably. Like, she's like, he's already doing it. And he's like what would she say? She says something. Oh, and she's like, I won't be this first one to speak. I won't be the first one. And then she say

francene:

something immediately too.

coryne:

Oh man, such a chick move. It's so good.

francene:

So good. And then he's like. Do you want to go get some, like, food and it's the greasy Chinese?

coryne:

Which she's fairly encouraged by, like, she's like, oh, yeah, and so they go, it's Szechuan, you want to go get some Szechuan, so they go to this, like, You know, like low key place and they're getting some food and Carrie sees a friend which again We're back to like all these random guys Always

francene:

guys, aren't they? Yeah interesting like every episode. They've always been like a guy friend yeah, and it's

coryne:

like and she's like real comfortable with them and like Yeah. And it, it's so funny too, because they all disappear. Like

francene:

they are not, we never see these best friends again,

coryne:

like they're gone. Like that's, you did not make casting, sorry, but she runs into the friend and he won't introduce her, her to the date. And you could obviously tell the date is like, so eager, like nice to meet you. And again, she's wearing the naked dress and like, she's like, you know, it's like bold about it with the friend. And she's like, you know. And he's like, wow, you look amazing. And she's like, not too naked. He's like, just the right amount of naked. Like, which I'm like,

francene:

you know, when I was, I watched it and I actually rewinded it again. And I was like, firstly, weird that he didn't just introduce, like, Carrie, knowing like how close they were and I was like also just so rude and even then for Carrie not to be like if she was then that close, be like, hey, like I'm Carrie

kind

coryne:

of thing. She did. She did. She introduced herself to the girl. Oh yeah, shit. Yeah, sorry, you're right. Like the guy won't do it, won't do it. Oh, that's right, right, right. You're in the girl's face and she's like, hi, I'm Carrie Bradshaw, old friend of, what's his name? I forget his name. Yes. But she's she does it and then the guy is obviously and the girl's like, it's so

francene:

great to me and he's like, no, no, no, no. They okay. It

coryne:

was nice. I'll call you. Bye. Like he like forced her out.

francene:

But even the way like Carrie was to your point, like pretty forward forward with, Oh, you don't think it's too naked. If I was the girl sitting there and him being like, Oh no, it's just the amount I would have. died. Yeah. Like that was really uncomfortable. I was like, that was really inappropriate. I feel, and if I was that girl sitting at the table, I don't think I would have had the best impression of Gary. I

coryne:

have to admit. Yeah. I had the same thought. Like a little much for somebody we just met, Gary. Like we don't know him. And

francene:

she's, and she's so beautiful as well. I mean, like. Like the girl's really beautiful, but like, Carrie is clearly like stunning and beautiful figure and just the way she, like her posture, I feel like if I was the other girl, I'd feel really intimidated. I'd question my life.

coryne:

Especially after like, you know, five more minutes into the episode and we learn like the dynamic of that relationship. Oh God, like that's for sure. So anyway, she ends, she, they have dinner. That's the end of her night with Big, and then the next day she calls this friend to like, be like, what the fuck? What was that about? And they go shopping together at Bed Bath Beyond, which makes me laugh. That that was like their friend hangout, her and that guy. I know, but what

francene:

were they buying there? Together, helping

coryne:

him pick out bed sheets. I know, but I'm like, why did

francene:

he need help picking bed sheets out?

coryne:

And again, it's

francene:

another scene. Men in New York are just useless. It seems. Is

coryne:

it just New York? Come on now. But I love again, it's like another scene where she's like overly comfortable with a straight male friend of hers. They're like laying in that bed in Bed Bath Beyond together. And she's like all like, I know. Yes, it's so interesting, especially because that is not something that continues with her character at all. At all. No. Like,

francene:

at all. Like, you really don't see her acting in that manner, like, in the future, but she really is, like, very flirty. And I think at times, and especially with what she does and, like, how many kind of situations she's, you know, been in, it does make you think, like, Are you all, like, truly just friends? Like, was there anything there? Or are the guys wanting something there and that's why they're still friends? I

coryne:

don't know. I mean, that's a whole other conversation about, like, can, you know, straight women and straight men be friends and they're not be one or the other of no one's, you know, something more. Especially when they're beautiful. Yeah, yeah. Especially when they're Carrie Bradshaw, for sure. But, so we get the scoop from the friend that, like, he's been dating this woman for a while and, like, It said he says that he's the only woman she's ever been with he's ever been with that He feels like he can just be with like he can totally be himself when you so comfortable best sex He's ever had in his life. He says but she's not as hot or as pretty as like the women's He normally dates and so like he's embarrassed of her I know it's so

francene:

embarrassing, but I was like also she's Like, not, not hot. Like, she's actually really good looking, and I was like, guys, you didn't even pick, like someone that's hideous looking. Like, she's, she's just not a

coryne:

model. Well, she's just, she's not New York City good looking. Like, you take her to any other city, except maybe L. A. But, like, she's the rest of America pretty. Yeah,

francene:

and that's what I mean, and I was like, and she seems so, like, lovely, and And

coryne:

again, with a guy who like, he's not a 10, like what the fuck, but nonetheless, they, so that's their whole story. And like, I immediately, like, if I was, if I was Carrie and a guy friend of mine, and I mean, I have honestly had a similar situation happen with like my one long term Plutonic guy friend who I've known since I was 14 years old. And he was dating a girl once who I adored. Like she was Oh my god, she was like the coolest freaking chick so put together super duper successful like single mom had two older kids good beautiful girl like had her fucking shit together and she was And he has notoriously been into like, I mean, stick figure, like so skinny that I want to feed them hamburgers, like tiny, tiny. You're like, are you okay? Like, listen, they have support groups for that. Like so skinny, skinny, skinny, skinny, like no boo, like just tiny little women. Anyway. He and he told me which it was his mistake that like he ended it with her because she was like not a stick figure And he's like, I'm just not a

francene:

trap. That was the only oh gosh But he was only thing

coryne:

and like don't get me wrong Like she was a thin woman like she was just a woman like she yeah She was probably like a size 8 or something. Like she was in no way like In any way, shape, form or fashion overweight by at all. She was like, she was, she was thin, like she wasn't anyway. And I was so disappointed in him and like, so pissed off. And I was like, why did you even introduce her to me?

francene:

Yeah. Why am I investing my

coryne:

energy? If you, if you knew, and like, he told her the truth of like why he broke up with her. And I was like. Stop.

francene:

No. How did she take that? I mean, horribly. I don't even know what I would do. I'm like, what do you mean? I'm not thin enough.

coryne:

Yeah. I mean, to be fair, I had a guy break up with me one time because I was too thin and this was when 30, when I weighed 30 pounds more than I do now. And like. Yeah. And he didn't say that to me. He told his best friend who told a good friend of mine and it got back to me and I was like, okay, so clearly you have some problems. Like, but yeah, he was into like, he was into like larger women and good for him. But like, why did you, why were you fucking me in the first place? Why, why did you think you were attracted to me if I wasn't your type? Like nonetheless, that's a whole nother. Sorted ass story, but yes,

francene:

so honestly like some people are so freaking judgmental. I remember talking to one of our guy friends who will remain unnamed and we were, we were just talking about I don't know how we got on the subject, but he was like, yeah, I'm worried that if My wife at the time gets pregnant, she's gonna put on weight and I was like I remember overhearing the conversation. I was kind of pottering around and I was like, Hey just so you know, like that's a hundred percent. It's going to happen because you're growing a human and it changes and yeah, and that that's okay. And he was like, yeah, I know. I just, I just worry, like, she's not going to go back to now. Oh. And I was like, what?

coryne:

I'm like, what do you mean? To the conversation, you're a superficial asshole. And like, you shaped it like

francene:

So bad. So then the next scene. Which made me laugh out loud. Miranda's doing kickboxing, which I always appreciate throughout like Sex and the City is like, we always see Miranda randomly doing stuff in the gym and meeting people, which I love, but she kicks the guy in the head.

coryne:

I also loved the time when like seeing his episode, because that was. Kickboxing was like the new hot workout. Like, that was like the, it was when like Billy, what was that? Billy Bull? No, what was the guy's name? Who came up with like the Taibo. This was like all happening at the same time. So I loved that it was in this episode. I was like, oh God, that freaking dates this episode. That we're kickboxing as a workout routine. But yeah, she kicks the dude in the head. Hilarious. And then like Dude kicks as well. Well done, lady. Well done. Yeah, well done. She's so intense, too. She's like, Yeah! And then they end up, I guess, like, he needed a swift kick in the head, and then he realized he liked her. And so they're, like, walking out of the gym together, talking, and, like, you know, he asked her out or whatever. So they're, like, gonna go, they're gonna go out after, you know, he got kicked in the head, which I thought was cute. Yeah,

francene:

I do love that. I love that. That's how they met. And and we'll, we'll get on to the hilarious part on Miranda soon. But then the next scene she is then. Walking with Carrie and they were just talking and she was talking about meeting that guy, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And this is one of the moments that I feel we will continue to see with Carrie and her character and looking back on it is how she always turns the conversation back to her. So Miranda's like saying about the guy, talking about her situation and immediately Carrie's. Like, oh, well, Big's never gonna call me again, or something like that, right, to bring it back to her. And then Amanda instantly switches the conversation. I was like, oh my gosh. We see that often with Carrie. Wait, is

coryne:

Carrie low key a selfish asshole and we never realized it?

francene:

I honestly feel this is gonna, do you know, I actually read and I really shouldn't have, but I found As I was doing researching because I'm trying to find like good like fun facts, but I find this Articles and it's basically like carries the worst person ever and they've gone back They've gone back and I was like, oh I fell deep in this hole And this was one of the episodes that they're like, this is where it like begins Oh shit Tendencies of just bringing it back and I was like i'm interested as we continue to watch if we then Looking back, start seeing that.

coryne:

Also, I feel like you've got real main character energy and like, she had to, she was the main character. Like

francene:

she's like, I don't care, Miranda. Let's talk about me and big.

coryne:

Let's bring it back. Let's bring it back. Let's play. So, so when did it, when does Samantha come into this conversation? Because I loved Samantha's take on the guy friend who won't tell about the girl that he's sleeping with. Did you, where, where's, where's Miranda's. Segway into Samantha on that. I can't remember what

francene:

I think maybe then So once they're kind of chit chatting, and then do they meet with the rest

coryne:

of the girls? They must have cut to a scene where they're all together. Oh! Oh no no!

francene:

I know. Oh my gosh. I'm having, like, flashbacks of this episode. So they were talking, and then they pulled in Samantha. No, no, I know. I'm sorry. It'sno, it's just Okay, Carrie, she was talking to Samantha, and they were having a drink. And then Carrie was saying to Samantha, like, how many people have you slept with in the first date? You know, Samantha's like, so many. She says Or

coryne:

embarrassed. Is there anyone you've ever had sex with that you wouldn't That's it. That you never told anyone about? And I love that Samantha's like, Well, did I tell you about the guy? Like, this guy. Or, did I tell you about the And Carrie's like, Yes, Samantha.

francene:

Yes, yes. Yes, Samantha. I know those details, yes.

coryne:

She's like, whatever. Then I've just never had sex with anybody and I'm ashamed of She's like, but Did Charlotte tell you about the rabbi?

francene:

Oh my God. And I love that. They immediately went down to Charlotte's work.

coryne:

That is the best thing to my job to ask me about. And they're like, sorry, sorry, sorry. I just, we just read, we were taught. We just needed to know. She's like, it wasn't a rabbi. And then this also, I love that again, we're back to like, Charlotte has the second most sex in the whole season. And like, it's another scenario where it's like an artist. She gets really into his art and like, and he's the most hideous, like. I know. Yeah, I know. I love that whole story. I know,

francene:

not for me. Yes, but I just, I love seeing that like girl gossipy kind of piece. Because imagine like nowadays, like if we were like, oh, we have some like gossip, you would just text someone or call them or FaceTime them. Whereas they made the full effort to go all the way like downtown to go

coryne:

to the park. Also, I think it's Things of like living in New York where it's like, I'm not dry. I'm not getting my car and driving 25 minutes and parking in a parking garage and getting a visitor pass to come into your building and going up to the 18th floor and finding your office. I think it's a thing where it's like, she's, she's five blocks away. Let's walk over there. Yeah.

francene:

But I love that. I love like Charlotte's stories. To be honest. I feel like, especially when they're like this and they're sexual because you're just like, Ooh, Charlotte,

coryne:

we're still always shocked by it. It doesn't matter how many times I

francene:

know if it was Samantha, you'd be like, Oh, that's cool. But Charlotte, I'm like, girl,

coryne:

what are you doing? Like, it's a So yeah, she shares her secret sex story of like, and it's, the way she tells the story, like, she was doing it with this guy for a while, and then like, because like, he couldn't date her publicly because their religion, and she couldn't be seen with him publicly because, I guess the religion thing too, but, oh my god, that was a great story for sure, and then do we cut to Samantha goes on a date with the guy she kicked in the head, it goes swimmingly, and spends the night at his house, and like, it's going great, like, he's so nice, he's, you know, he's all the things, and they wake up the next morning, and he has to leave for a early morning flight, and It's very early, too. Like 6 a. m. And he's, she's gonna stay in his apartment. He's like, you stay, you go back to sleep, it's so early. She's like, no, no, I can leave. He's like, no, it's fine. Which is like, you know, one of those coveted things early on in a relationship where like, you know, obviously he's serious about me. He doesn't care if I'm in his place. And literally. The door doesn't close behind him, and she goes to sifting through all his personal effects like full stalker mode. And I'm like, this is what we used to do before we were just trying to hack into their cell phone and see

francene:

their search history. That is so true. Man, I would have done the exact same thing as Miranda though. I'd be all around that apartment.

coryne:

I wonder, I really, in that moment, I was like, did, would I, have I done, I don't think that I have, to that level, like, you know, like a little, like, what's on the kitchen table, or, like, I don't know that I would be like digging through drawers. Like she went deep, like she was like in his shit. And then of course she finds his, I guess his like go to porno video. And it's like, I love it. It's a video too. I know. It's like not the internet. Yes. It's a BHS. Again, this is why we are just trying to hack. Your phone and look through your search history. I know, I want to see

francene:

the history.

coryne:

What are your search terms? Like, what are your search terms? But it's a spanking video that like, and then I love that we immediately cut to she took it out of the She took it! She took

francene:

it! Why would you take it? Oh my gosh, they took it and then they watched it! I literally wrote my notes. I said, they watched it.

coryne:

It's another episode of like Carrie watching porn with someone, which obviously this is HBO, like pushing the envelope. And I love that. We've had like two episodes again. We're watching porn, but he's like into spanking and Miranda's just like completely turned off and Carrie's like, I mean, you can't really judge him until you spanked him. Right?

francene:

Oh, I know. That's such a great quote. But, like, question. Like, if you found that, I appreciate people don't have, like, videos anymore. But, like, would you care to that extent? I don't think I would. Especially, like, spanking. I'm sorry. There's a lot of things out there that I would maybe have issues with. Spanking? I can get on board with. That's fine.

coryne:

I feel like that's PC. Like some missionary sex ass shit, right? Like no totally the same. I would be like, I mean, I'm somebody who's pretty comfortable with Like porn it like it's not something that's ever bothered me at all and I think it's like kind of like when you get close enough to someone that they can kind of share with you like because I feel like when they like Yeah, anybody who, like, has ever watched porn enough to, like, know what you do like and don't like about it from a sexual perspective. Like, it's a real window into, like, what really turns you on, you know? Yeah. I feel like, yeah, spanking? Pssh. No, that would not have bothered me in the least. Now, I wouldn't have taken the damn video out of his house because, like Oh,

francene:

same. Same. If you're gonna watch it, watch it there. And leave it

coryne:

there. Yeah, and then, you know, relay the story. She doesn't even need to see it. I know.

francene:

And it also made me, yes, I know, I thought really long and hard about this. I was like, did she then give it back? Like, did she put it back? Because a video is pretty big. If you have a little purse, like how, how does she even take it out the apart? I feel like that was a lot

coryne:

of effort. What, how'd she get it back there? Like, did she consider that? Oh, did she? Or did she keep it? I mean, because then if you take it, like, he's gonna know you took it eventually. I know. Like, yeah, that's a whole conundrum in and of itself. I thought that was completely hilarious. So then, cut to Carrie's, like, working on her, her column, and she's like, I don't remember how she pulls it back to, like, big is never gonna call me later. It's just never gonna happen and he does he calls it and he says to her which I love he's like we should have a proper first date and I'm like, okay, how many times are y'all gonna try

francene:

to have a first date? I know it's been months now. I do love that though. I love that he's like, I want to like redo like he acknowledges it too.

coryne:

Yeah. And I love how he's like, let's do like a dinner and a movie. And she's like, that sounds great. He's like, I mean, we might skip the movie. And she's like, well, as long as we, as long as we have dinner and I'm like, okay, cute. There's like sexual, you know, chemistry. There's still sexual tension there. So then he takes her back to the same freaking Szechuan restaurant where they went before.

francene:

I know. Which, it, like, would you, like, how would you feel about that? Like, putting yourself in her situation after hearing, like, what her friend said.

coryne:

Oh, the friend has not yet said to her, I take her there because you're not going to see anyone there. She, he hasn't said that yet, so she's not putting that together just yet. Oh, yeah,

francene:

right, because she phoned him that

coryne:

night, right? After, yeah, but like, I don't know, I'm, I'm, I am. easy going to like a fault when it comes to dating someone new like I'm Have been, you know, like tougher, I don't know, like more picky about stuff. I, I, things like that, like wouldn't occur to me. Yeah. You know,

francene:

same. But also I'm like, I wonder if it was close to Big's apartment

coryne:

or it was really good food, or like, I know maybe he was being nostalgic about like, this is where we ended up. Like I could have justified that a hundred ways. Yeah.

francene:

Same. I don't even think I would've. Probably question. I'm the same as you. I actually don't even think I would have questioned it. I don't even think I would have thought about it. I feel like would have just been so like, oh, my God, we're going out again.

coryne:

Yeah, yeah, but then so, like, they have a great night and then it's the next day they're on the street together and they're walking and she's just like. No, no, no. They spend the day together. Don't they spend the day together first?

francene:

Yeah. And then they bump into his friend and he didn't

coryne:

introduce her. And she was like, you know, like completely, well, she was like weirded out by it. And it was like a really awkward encounter, which is funny because we've seen her have that similarly awkward encounter with the guy that she bumps into at the restaurant. And so you're like, you're getting the tingling. It's like, as the viewer, you're like getting the tingling. It's like, That's, that's not good. And then he takes me to the same Szechuan restaurant and you're like, oh, my stomach is officially tingling. And so the next day she calls the friend and he, she's like, why do you take Lily to that? And, and he's like, Oh, cause it's, you know, nobody's going to be there. Like you're not going to see. And she notices like when she's there, like all the other couples. Oh,

francene:

yes. Sneaky couples. Cause they all look a little shady. Like one of them is looking around like shit. Can anyone see me?

coryne:

Full mental freak out all by herself. And oh, and she invites big. During the date day date, like when they're together to the bus, see her bus, that's going to like girls getting together and watch the bus come down fifth, like for the first time and see her beautiful picture, you know, on it. And he tells her at the Szechuan restaurant, I can't be there. And she's, she kind of takes it in stride, but then that's like another thing that she's like, He doesn't want to meet my friends, took me to the CD restaurant twice, didn't introduce me to his, you know, buddy on the street. Like the girl, the girl over there doesn't, doesn't

francene:

want to see my bus in public.

coryne:

Like it's on high alert, like she is in full freak out, like losing it. So then the next day is when the bus is happening, right? But yeah, she invites that guy.

francene:

Like, why was

coryne:

he there? I'm like, why was he there? It's like the core three girls, she invited Big, and then this dude.

francene:

I'm like, where is Harvey Specter? Like, bring back someone like that. You know what I mean? He was getting his law degree. He

coryne:

was busy, Francis. He was switching up careers.

francene:

Oh my god. But you know what made me die laughing? Is when the bus shows up and they're all in their little party hats with a little champagne. And there's a big dick drawn on it.

coryne:

Oh my god. Like right in her mouth. Oh my god. And I love Samantha who was hyping it up when she gets the big picture of it before all this. It was hyping. It's so hardcore. Like this bus gets so every guy is going to be drooling over you every morning. Like that cut to the dick in her face. She's like, nobody looks at buses anyway, unless they're about to hit them. Don't worry. It's fine. It's fine. Everything's

francene:

fine. You know what? She just showcases her true natural PR, right? How she's able to immediately just. Sort of just control the situation.

coryne:

Right. Yeah, like that. Oh, my God. That was hilarious. So then obviously she goes and gets really drunk. I didn't really show that, though. They don't show, like, what she does right after the bus thing because it cuts right back to like, she goes to Biggs apartment,

francene:

right? She must have had a good couple of glasses of champagne and then was like, you know, this is horseshit. Which I do. This is the one thing that I do appreciate about Carrie. and I do think. I, I would be like this, to be honest, like if I had something I wanted to say, I can't help, but just get it out. And it comes out in that same manner of like, the other person is so caught off guard that it's like, wait, what, what? And I'm just like, Oh, you,

coryne:

I think it's part of like an overthinkers brain. And I'm not going to say that's girl, because I. Men who do the same shit. Yeah, like you've already worked out the whole fucking narrative all of it Yeah, so by the time you are have amped yourself up enough to like give it to him Oh, it's like you're 12 exits down the road. Like you you've already broken up like yes Yeah, I'm

francene:

out. Yeah, I'm like I'm by myself

coryne:

Word vomiting. And a big, I will say, God he takes that shit in stride.

francene:

He really does. Actually, he really does surprisingly well He logically

coryne:

is like this and this and this and this and like, takes a drink of the My favorite part too is she shows him his door and he's basically like I'm here to tell you to go fuck off and then she like pushes herself into his apartment and makes herself a drink And we're good. And he unleashes this whole narrative that she's put together of what the fuck is going on and he completely logically like, puts it all to bed, takes a sip of her drink that she's made, which I liked, she took the time to put it in a martini glass. Appreciate that. Yeah, yeah. Like it's some bullshit, you know, Tumblr she found somewhere. And then she says to him, she's like, so this, me and you thing, like, this is like, for real, she doesn't say for real. You think

francene:

it could be real. And he says. Could be.

coryne:

Yeah. Could be. And then he picks her up and like. And then,

francene:

like, back in. Which I love, but also it made me think, you know, when he said like when he was explaining everything, like, I just love the restaurant. It's like my favorite restaurant. They do good food. And then the other thing he said was, I forgot the guy's name. How many situations have you been in where that's happened? Like, I will give Aaron a heads up, and I'm like, hey. And then I, I look at him and Aaron is able to like see into my eyes that I've forgotten the name of this person. So then he'll be like, Oh, hey, sorry, I'm blah, blah, blah. But I've been in those situations so many times that I cannot remember the name. It happens

coryne:

to me often too. I feel like if you've ever been in sales, like it's, it happens. But like my, my, that's a, that's really cool that you and Aaron have like a telepathic shorthand. I'm like, Aaron, look at me, look at me, look in my eyes right now. My trick is always that I introduce the person I'm with like, Oh my So great to see you. Like this is my boyfriend, Jason Cates. And then they're like, Oh, I'm so

francene:

and so stealing that next time. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Like, Oh, of course it's Henry, Henry.

coryne:

And it's like, and then, you know, like, that's my like maneuver, but you have to be on it because if you wait to just like this, it's obvious. I don't remember their name. It sucks that when you're alone, like you don't have that partner to like bounce off. Oh my God.

francene:

Yes. And you're like, I've so forgotten your name and I always remember it later. But I had, anyway, I had a little bit of like sympathy. Sympathy for like when big was explaining each of these things that it's to your point. They set up so well for us as a viewer to be like, there's some red flags. But there's always such an explanation that I kind of wish. And I know it wouldn't be a TV, but it's like, after they met that friend for him to be like, I'm so sorry, I totally forgot the name. You don't mean and then you're putting things at ease. But of course, you need the drama.

coryne:

Or like when they go, yeah. Mean that's of course how they wrote it, but like when you go to the same restaurant two nights in a row, like you're like, I love this place. Like I know I'm taking you to the same place twice, but I am obsessed with like this. Yes. Is that okay with you? Like that would've totally been the like Explan. But again, like that would've not made a great episode where we could,

francene:

I know. Also, knowing Carrie, let's be honest, I still think she would have taken that and been like, that's bullshit. And she still would have turned up like drunk. Be like, I don't believe you.

coryne:

The one part we missed in this episode is Miranda after. Yes. Yes.

francene:

They go on the other date. Oh

coryne:

my God. Yes. He's back in town. They go out for a nice dinner. They're all synced up and she's like made her peace with like, it's cool. Like he's got a little kink, I'm gonna lean into it. It's great. And they're like walking out like their restaurant. But yeah, it's all like loving up. And he says something to the, I don't remember what he says to her. He is like, maybe all I needed was a kick in the head. And she's like, mm. Our little. Spanking. He's just like, Dunsey,

francene:

but what? Honestly, that also made me feel very awkward. Cause I'm like, why would you say it like that? Like now you've just showcased it. You went around his apartment. You stole his video that now he's thinking he's like, shit. Yeah. Where did my spanking video go? And now she's making that comment. I'm like. I feel like you could, if you're into it, there's so many ways that you could naturally just be like, when you're doing it, be like, Oh, do you want to spank or do you want to spank me? That would be a way of doing it.

coryne:

But also I think there's a lot of people who watch things in porn that they don't actually want to do. Like,

francene:

it's probably like, actually, I don't like spanking. I just like the lead girl.

coryne:

And also I feel like. If you were gonna bring it up, that's not a date two or three conversation. That's like a, we've been together three or four months, like, we're very comfortable. Like, that's like a, so, hey, funny story. Like, let's talk this through. That's not how you bring that up,

francene:

Miranda. She's just so direct. I wonder if it's just like the lawyer in her, just to Probably. Like, get it out there. Like sometimes when she decides that she's on board with something, it's like, she just needs to address it versus just leaving it naturally to happen. Yeah. Yes. I sunk inside. I was like, Ooh, I would have, I don't even know what I would do if I was him.

coryne:

I know. I felt so awkward for him. Like, and I mean, not that we have to say it, but like, and that was the end of that relationship.

francene:

They never saw each other again. She never got that spanking.

coryne:

No, I wonder if he got his video back.

francene:

I personally think the way his face went, he was like. Did she steal it? And he was like, what fucking, I mean God at that. But she thought she was so sexy saying it to you, and I love the way she was like, and she was like, what?

coryne:

Like, bye bitch. Like

francene:

Oh my God. It was like, that's what I, honestly, that's one of the things I love about Miranda is when she's trying to be sex age, it is the polar opposite. But she just does it so hilariously, and

coryne:

I know she doesn't mean it. Her acting on that is really, really good, for sure. Hilarious.

francene:

So I guess that is a wrap for Season 1, Episode 6, Secret Sex. And then the next, Episode 7, is Monogamy

coryne:

What is it? Monogamy? What is it? What? What

francene:

is it? Monogous? What is that word?

coryne:

Monogamous. Monogamous? I'm going to have to cut

francene:

that. Monogamous? Monogamous.

coryne:

Monogamous.

francene:

Please don't

coryne:

cut this. Monogamous. Monogamous.

francene:

You're gonna have to kick off the next episode. I can't do it.

coryne:

I'll do it for you. Don't worry. Alright. English is not your first language.

francene:

That's a wraP!
