coryne:

We come back. I listened to our podcast yesterday from last week and they're just so good. I mean, I love them. Our own

francene:

best review. Well, at least this week I can actually pronounce the title. I feel really good about this title. It's really simple. So, Season 1, Episode 8. Season 1, Episode 8. Three's a crowd. Three's

coryne:

a crowd. This one is, this one has so many great little storylines in it. I was cracking up. I was

francene:

literally laughing

coryne:

out loud. I also, it's so funny too, because when this episode was made, Three said, like, and they say this at the very beginning of the episode, So that like threesomes were like the new hot ticket of like controversial sex things, you know what I mean? And I love that it's that scene where they're talking about it and they're like threesomes are the, what did she say? The BJ Yeah.

francene:

Good old Samantha

coryne:

Jones, who's like, well, what was it of the eighties? And she's like, anal sex.

francene:

Oh my God. I love it so much. So this episode kicks off where Charlotte is with her new boyfriend, Jack, and he asked him, which this made me laugh so much. And she asked Charlotte, what are your fantasies, obviously talking some sex talk while they're in bed. And she turns and she goes, Oh, like owning a gallery, traveling the world. And he's like, yeah. And he's like no, no, no, no. You're like dirty fantasies. And she's like, I didn't know, like doing it in my parents bed.

coryne:

She's so innocent. She comes across so innocent in those moments and like, Oh, I love it. It's hilarious. I also love the way that they talk about how they met, like, that they, that she stalked him to every, like, charity event in the city. And then they've been, like, dating since the muscular dystrophy dance, and now they're like, No, see,

francene:

Corinne, my notes, I was like, Dying and I never thought of the references before because of course you're not writing notes when you're typically watching something but one was the date dancing with dyslexia. That was the title of it date dancing with dyslexia and then there was another one. Oh my god, what was it called? I'm sure I'll come across it later, but I was like, what random functions are they signing up

coryne:

for? It is such a funny, like it's, it's a funny truth of, I feel like, of like society people who just split from one charitable event to the next where they're, you know, like, that's, I love it. That's how she met him. And like, they, you know, they're like, and then they're like a rollerblading through the city on a date. That's how Oh, my God, it's so

francene:

funny. It is just so, so freaking random. So after they have this moment, he then says, Well, what about you, me, and another woman? And naturally, Charlotte's like, Oh, I don't know. I don't know. And I'm like, guys love threesomes so much, don't they? Or like the

coryne:

thought of it. The idea of it, I think. The idea, yeah. Yeah, men love the idea of it, which I think is just it, it is, it, it, it makes sense when, if you've like, you know, in any way, you know, Gotten conscious about the male ego and like the reasons they tick and like how fragile and precious that damn ego is. And so it makes sense that like, you know, if one chick is good two or better, like I get that, but it definitely is something I feel like we've all been with a guy, maybe not necessarily in a relationship with, but we've all dated a guy who propositioned Yeah,

francene:

I was literally thinking about that. And I was like, That's so crazy. And I just googled Forbes, because it's a reputable site. And it said one in seven Americans has had a threesome, and one in five finds them appealing.

coryne:

That is surprisingly low to me. I would think that that would be more, I think, I would think more people had done it. Interesting.

francene:

But I guess it's, it's like a rant, like, when you think about it. Like, it's like, if you're in a committed relationship, I feel like that's a, it's a hard thing at that point to then go find someone else. Like, I couldn't imagine if we were like, okay, we're going to bring someone else in. You're not going to bring a friend. So how are you going to randomly

coryne:

bring someone? Which is what Samantha says in the conversation that after Charlotte's proposition with this cut to the girls and they're talking about it, and Samantha says you always want to be the guest star. Yes. Oh, right. Right. Yeah, like you did like I cannot because like for me like if I'm in a loving like if I love you Like I don't want to know it's touching you like I don't want to like never and honestly like I don't really know I wouldn't want to be with a Some, like, it would very much taint my relationship with someone if they were okay with, with another man touching me. You know what I mean? So it's like, you should, you should be insulted if I was okay with you doing that. Like, that's like, I don't give a fuck anymore. If like, I don't care that you're fucking somebody else right in front of me in general. Like that's, that's just me though. I feel like, you know, to each their own and some people, like they, I don't know. I feel like they just, they have a different. Viewpoint on all of that, but I do think it's like if you're gonna do it, do it like when you're not do it with something you're not serious about or like be a guest star in it. Like don't, not in a relationship. I can't imagine that ever works out well. Yeah,

francene:

I completely agree. And I just, I don't know. I just, it's just never appealed to me. There's just something about it. And I think it's that sharing aspect, but also

coryne:

I don't share well,

francene:

I, yeah. However, you know, Well, I say all this, but I was thinking, and I was like, well, if I was going to who would I add in And so like, clearly unavailable, didn't think about it. I was like, okay, well if we were gonna do this and we had to, okay, fine. And, but there was

coryne:

$500,000 on the line. Yeah,

francene:

soon as I had to for the pod,

coryne:

the most hideous friend, I'm,

francene:

you know who I. Always thought is like super hot is Michelle Rodriguez, you know, the one from the Fast and Furious.

coryne:

It doesn't hurt that she's a lesbian either. Oh, is she? Oh yeah, she's totally a lesbian. Yeah. That, that doesn't hurt either. That see, you're, you are attracted to that if she has masculine energy like Right,

francene:

right. And hey. And at least, at least she would know what she was doing.

coryne:

For you, especially. For me. So if anything Probably would have no fucking

francene:

interest in Aaron. Well, if anything, anyone that's listening, if you're gonna do it Yes. That's the way to go. That's the way to go. Then there's no fear in anything happening afterwards. Oh, that's cool. I love it. Correct the case. Correct the case. So, they're all talking about it, and I found it interesting that, of course, Carrie was like, I've never had one. I was like, I've never had one. Samantha clearly has 12 as a guest star. And then Miranda was like, well, she had fun in college, which cracked me up. And then when they started discussing, well, I think Charlotte said, well, well, maybe I could, Have a friend like Carrie. And then Carrie was like, no, you need someone to experience like Samantha. And then they're like, Oh, and then no one says anything.

coryne:

Like in that moment, like they're obviously like considering it. And Samantha, Carrie and Charlotte are having this little moment of like, Oh my God, love it.

francene:

Could

coryne:

you imagine? Yeah. And then Miranda's just like, Don't say anything about me. And to be fair, like I, the moment was hilarious, but also like, of course they don't think, can you imagine Miranda would be bossing you around? Like she was negative Nelly about everything. That's miserable. Like, no, Miranda. No, we don't. If I need you to litigate it afterwards, I'm calling you. Okay.

francene:

Oh my god, that is so funny. I honestly don't think I cracked up so hard when I first watched it, but this time, and I feel bad because I was in bed and Aaron was sleeping, so I was watching it late and I was cracking up. It just made me laugh because I was like, poor Miranda, like, just seeing that moment of like, Because she's such a strong, strong willed character and just seeing her be so

coryne:

disgruntled. Yes, and what it obviously got in her skin because then I love like the episode she's in therapy about it like she's having nightmares about it or not nightmares but like so funny

francene:

like that. You know her therapist is like, what the fuck? Yeah, I do appreciate that storyline. But what was then interesting is then Carrie, you know, with her kind of writing the article, she then starts seeing everything in a threesome. And I was like, this is so true when it's like fat, low fat, non fat economy business first. Yeah. Oh, yeah, everything does come in threes.

coryne:

I mean, do you know time? The triangle is the strongest shape in nature. So the, I mean, it, I feel like it's, and threes is always like a, you know, like from a design perspective, like you always want things in odd numbers and like, you know, yeah, there's lot, there's lots of correlation to that for sure. So, you know, it happens. It's also interesting, threesome don't happen in nature. That's like, like animals don't do that. that's not, I guess,'cause we're the only. Not the only one, but we're one of the only like three Mammals that have sex for pleasure. So I think that

francene:

is that true. Wait, what do you mean?

coryne:

Who else? Hold on. I'm gonna think of it. Is it? Oh Wait, I gotta google this. I should know this with my animal science degree. There's Mammals Have sex for pleasure. Pardon us, Pod, while we Google. I mean, where's our fact checker?

francene:

Oh my god, stop, I just Googled

coryne:

it. Pigs? Pigs, that's what it was. I was gonna say that, but I wanted to make sure I was right before I said it. Pigs and dolphins. And there is an ape, I think. I think there's an ape of some sort. Bonobos? No way. Yeah. Yeah. So there's only, there's very few mammals that do it just to do it. I'm so

francene:

shocked at pigs. I don't know why.

coryne:

Pigs are the ones that have like 30 minute orgasms. Have you never heard this before either? Yeah, their orgasm lasts like 30 minutes. Yeah. Which honestly, that sounds, I don't have that much time. I need to,

francene:

30 minutes? What do you mean? Like, there's,

coryne:

there? Ever? Yeah, they have an orgasm that lasts like 30 minutes. Pygmy chimpanzees and white faced ch So, some of the primates, which makes sense because they're, you know, one offs from us, but Pigs and bonobos and perhaps dolphins, it says. What is a bonobo? I need to google this. Oh

francene:

my god, I just googled about pigs. I cannot believe. That they have a 30 minute

coryne:

orgasm. What the hell?

francene:

No wonder they like it. No wonder they

coryne:

like it. Oh yeah, a bonobo is a primate also. So it's like us, primates, and pigs. Those are the only ones that do it for fun. And dolphins. There is some rumor that dolphins do it for fun. Wait,

francene:

Corinne. It can, like, I feel like I've fallen down a rabbit hole. I'm gonna stop. It can last from. 30 minutes to 90 minutes.

coryne:

Is that wild? That's, I mean, that's a crazy phenomenon in the animal world, for sure. But see, pigs are still not having threesomes, so it is definitely something about men and their egos that is causing threesomes in the world. I don't think so. That's

francene:

crazy. And then meanwhile in the episode, Samantha, of course, was getting with a married guy called Ken. And while they were doing it, which also cracked me up and they were having that intimate moment. Cam was like, Oh, Ruth, she won't even get on top. And he was talking about his wife and stuff. I was like, Oh, whatever. And then.

coryne:

Escapades. I like it's so these early episodes of her are so interesting of like, There was the other episode where she was at the party with all the married people and she's like, I've had sex with him, I've had sex with him. So obviously that was not an off limits thing for her, but It's funny to see it like play out. And again, that guy's so unattractive. And the guy that Charlotte's with in this episode, whose name I won't remember, because he's a dude. He like, Jack, he had a very interesting look too. Like he had like, Really large lips and like a really kind of like angular face. I was like that's a look as well. And I love how he's like, he's like feeding Charlotte, like you're so sexy that you realize like the sexual energy. Oh, she, which is, I mean, I will say like, I, like, I get it. Cause Charlotte, he has done such a. good job of like coming off as this like posh little princess. So I could see how like she never, that's not ever the attention she's trying to get. So like getting it probably feels different and exciting. Yeah. She's definitely feeding off of it. And which is obviously, I feel like him manipulating her into being open to this potential idea of hacking this threesome. But

francene:

which I think Samantha, or is it Carrie, calls that out,

coryne:

right? Is it, or is it Miranda? I thought it was Miranda. Oh, maybe it is. I don't know, one of

francene:

them definitely said it. Yeah, one of them did. They were like, oh, he's just buttering you up. Yeah,

coryne:

yeah, for sure, yeah. So they

francene:

were then out at the date dancing with Dyslexia, and he then started picking out girls and was like, oh, what one do you think is good? Yeah, yeah. Is that the moment when she? No, as we say at the moment, no, it's

coryne:

later. There's a girl who like leans over them to get a drink or something. That's

francene:

right. And she's like, Oh my God, I think she like touched my thigh.

coryne:

Well, she, he said something, I don't know. Yeah. Then she like, it's like, that's like her little, like, you know, one inch closer to like even discussing the idea of it kind of thing, which I thought was hilarious. Yeah. He's like posh society people, you know, but then so Carrie's writing her article and like making all these equations to like the three, the threes that she sees in lots of places and then cut to her and big, which I did love to see again that they're like in this very cozy place. And like, there's, you know, she's like staying at his house all the time and like. He's like getting ready to go in the morning. She's drinking coffee and he's like putting, she's putting his tie on. Oh yeah, there's like, there's nothing there's something so sexy about putting a man's tie on is sometimes more than taking it off. I thought that was a cute line. And then he. Randomly in that conversations mentions that he's divorced and she didn't know that and so then it, you know, like here comes the carry spiral. I can just Here comes little

francene:

cray cray Carrie and I think it's because she was talking about the what she was doing and she was, he was like, what are you doing later? And she's like, oh, I need to go interview someone about threesomes. And he's like, oh, I did one before and she's like, oh, who did you do it with? And he's like, ex wife. Yeah, yeah. He's like that point. You're like, Carrie, get it all out your system right now. Don't walk away from this, but she didn't

coryne:

make

francene:

better viewing. So then she, they're all trying on makeup. So Sam, Carrie, and. Miranda, and they're talking about Big and his ex wife. And what made me laugh so much is as they were putting on their makeup, Miranda puts on this and actually it was a gorgeous color for her to be fair. But then she turns and she's like, What do you think about this one? And she just looks so unsexy. It's so unsexy. And and Carrie just looks over with such pity and is like, Oh, honey, I think it's a bit too orange. And it's like, I know in a normal circumstance, like Miranda would take it. Like, well, but because of everything she's feeling, it's as if it's like amplified and you can see it.

coryne:

She's so put out. And like, it's just, again, they don't find her attractive. I love that. It's hilarious. Like this, she's putting that much thought into the fact that her friends don't want to have sex with her.

francene:

But I just love like the, the, the humor that continues throughout this episode. I think they did it. it's like you're touching on some of these more like relationship moments from like big and carry and then like the threesome and then sprinkled in. It's just Miranda's craziness that we've not really seen before. Have

coryne:

we? Well, but speaking of craziness, can we talk about super stalker carry and her? Yeah. Next steps. And like, and this, this predates like our abilities to, you know, like deep dive somebody. Yeah.

francene:

In like five. I don't know even how she did it. That must have taken a lot of effort. What did she use? Like a

coryne:

phone book? What did she? I mean, to be fair, the internet was around, but I mean, it was an infancy. Could you Google? Facebook did not exist. No, Google wasn't. That's what I mean.

francene:

Yeah. You would ask

coryne:

Jeeves. Did she like, you know what she did? She called that frickin Rolodex of random mids. She has. All

francene:

of

coryne:

her best friends. Yes. I knew they would come in useful. You know, she loves the library. Maybe she like went down to the courthouse and like on microfish pool. Like see, that's, that's why. I wanted to see

francene:

that piece of the episode. How did you find this, Kari?

coryne:

This is like next, this is serious stalking because it wasn't as easy as it is now. Like now, I totally know how you did it, Kari, but like back then, how did you figure out who his ex wife was and where she worked? Yeah,

francene:

also, She got an appointment with her and she's what head of publishing or she, she was a pretty high level, right? And publishing for a

coryne:

children's book company. Now, I'm

francene:

sure. How did she get a meeting within a day?

coryne:

A day. I know. I feel like Carrie. It was successful enough that like from a writer's perspective, they would have known her. Yeah. And, and, and she says that when they like she's like, I'm a fan. So she knew who she was, but still like, which then it's even funnier that like, she knows who you are and like, you're not thinking through how that's going to come back around.

francene:

I know like all of it, to be honest, all of it. And I literally wrote in capitals. Crazy, Carrie. Oh, and I kept on writing crazy and I kept all letters in my notes. So Big's ex is called Barbara, and she was beautiful. Like very, she so put together. Yes. So put together like very, like, charming and just,

coryne:

So big too. You know what I mean? Like, yes. Caring that I could see, you know,

francene:

I, I could definitely see that too, but what I wrote down. Knowing that she obviously put that much effort into finding her, booking a meeting with her, she was so ill prepared. Like, what did she think was gonna happen?

coryne:

She was so focused on the just getting her eyes on her that she did not even think about like holding her storyline together in the meeting, which is hilarious.

francene:

Like little, little Kathy and her magic cigarettes. Every time she smokes them, she goes to like a different location. It's like, what? And honestly, how fortunate. That Barbara was so nice and such a fan of Carrie's that clearly it was fine, but anyone else would have been like, This

coryne:

bitch

francene:

is crazy. Like, what the like, we need to get security in here.

coryne:

Yeah. I also love that part where she's in the lobby waiting and the secretary comes over and she's like, Carrie? And she's like a very unattractive, you know, Yeah, it'll aged homely looking woman and you see her face like light up and she's like, Barbara, we'll see you now. And then Barbara's like just got her shit together. It looks amazing. You wanted it to be a homely old woman is what you wanted. Yes, she did. Yeah, you've seen big. Come on now. Yeah. Big Scott. I love how they carry that they can continue to carry that storyline and that's carries like threesome through the episode of like it. She's in her head, like she can't have sex with him because she's thinking about her. Like it's, it's crazy. Like Carrie's doing that shit all to herself. Y'all. I know all to herself. If you learned anything from this episode, this is the downfall to overthinking and cyber stalking is that all of this was avoidable, Carrie. You could have had, like, you didn't have to go through any, again, like Francine said, you could have just said what you were feeling in the moment when you found out he had been married and saved yourself all this trouble. But yeah, that's a way episode.

francene:

No, I know. And you also see through this the way I, I think, especially towards the end, like, Big is very patient with her, and I feel he tries to feed her information to try and not let her spiral out, but at the same time, it's just not quick enough. Like, if he had just said immediately up front, oh yeah, I had a threesome with my ex wife, and by the way, She was my ex wife because of XYZ, you know what I mean? Instead of leaving it

coryne:

hanging. And, and we still talk to each other and we have a good relationship, like, you know, like, later. But dude, I feel like that's big, making the very typical man mistake of like, We're not together, it doesn't matter. Well, are they just like, they don't Think it matters. And it's like, it's like the lot, like, they don't want to talk about it because like, they don't want to tell you because they're afraid it's going to create a conversation with you. Like, you know what I mean? It's like the avoidance of it all, which is super typical for dudes to do that. In general, I think so. Yeah. It's not,

francene:

well, the girl is spiraling out. I know. Going through all

coryne:

the motions. Our brains just function differently. The way of the world for sure. So yeah. So then after that scene with, with little Kathy, Barbara, Do we do we cut back to Charlotte and the, the, the masquerade

francene:

ball? No, it is then Samantha, which I appreciate this whole threesome throughout. Samantha then bumps into Ken and his wife while she's looking at flowers, which I need to make a really bitchy comment. I'm sorry. I'm not proud of myself, but Ken's wife, her bags under her eyes were shocking. Did you notice that? I feel bad, but she. I don't know. I feel bad. They amplified that. Yes,

coryne:

and they obviously picked an actress that was like, personifying the like, non sexual wife. You know, like, nothing about her that's sexual. Yeah. But I, I will say he was a troll as well. So like, they go together. I don't know what the hell. Samantha was doing nailing

francene:

that dude. Like an awkward encounter. Cause you know it's like Samantha like out in the wild like never wanting to cause she's so unattached to it and then just the wife Seeing that they're like, how, how do you know each other? And she was looking back, you know, looking over her shoulder. And I, Oh, and I just thought what, like a great way to bring up that threesome piece as well, though.

coryne:

Yeah. Well, here's the downfall to like, you know, the awkward outside of, you know, where you're keeping all that safe. Like, here's what happens when you bump into each other, but that, yeah. What an awkward encounter. It's almost gave me the feeling of like, the man who like, Pays for a hooker and then accidentally runs into the hooker. Like, it was like the same, it gave me the same vibe that I think like that would feel like, but yeah, that was, oh, and I also love that like they walk away and you see Samantha, like there's like a millisecond where it's like, there's no guilt there. Like, she has no guilt. No, it's

francene:

just more of the inconvenience of

coryne:

being able to be, yeah, inconvenienced by it. Yeah.

francene:

And then after, which also was a scene that cracked me up too, is Samantha is at home. She picks up her very glamorous, very old fashioned phone,

coryne:

With the

francene:

dial, which could you imagine like showing that to like Croson or Luna now? They'd be like, I don't know, like what this is.

coryne:

I've been in an antique shop with Croson before and she's seen a phone like that. I swear I had to explain. She's like, what's that? And I was like, it's a phone. And she's like, no, it's not. And I was like, yeah, I see. Where's the touch screen. I see how you can think that. And I like told her how it works. And she's like, can we buy it? I want to play. No, we can't buy

francene:

it. As it's like 300 for an antique one that costs like 10 bucks. So, so Samantha then picks up the phone and I love just sometimes how she just comes across so like, I don't know. She's like, who is this? And she's like, Oh no, no, no, no. Like to the husband who's like, I've left my wife. I told her everything. I'm in love with you. And she's like, Oh no, no, no, no, no. And then the wife, at the same time, it was like, I, I'm, I'm happy if this is something that he wants to do, I'll join in and she's like, no, no, no, no, no. I'm a guest star. Like,

coryne:

no, I am not trying to get involved in y'all's bullshit. Like out. I'm all done. Thank you for playing. Have a nice day. She's so unattached and like so untouchable in those things and like so devoid of emotion about it, you know, like it does not affect her. And I do feel like they develop her character really well because we know in like future seasons like she tries to hold that but ends up becoming pretty emotionally entangled with it. And I love that they kind of developed her in that because while, you know, These are the, like, building blocks of what we love about her. I loved seeing more depth from her as well as the character matures, you know? I know.

francene:

You know what I can't wait for, and I think about this all the time because it's coming up soon, is Season 2 when she gets with James. James, do you remember? Do you remember James? Like the really small cock?

coryne:

Oh, yeah. I cannot wait.

francene:

It's coming up soon. And I'm so excited to break that down. Because just knowing Samantha is like, that is the ultimate thing that like, she just Just can't accept it.

coryne:

Nope, that's not part of what she's after. It's like, it's like Charlotte Ivy League education, like she's, she can't.

francene:

You can't, hey, there's like a criteria.

coryne:

It's a box you have to check, okay?

francene:

So, speaking of Charlotte, and I found what ball she was at this time, so she was at the attention deficit ball. I'm like, that was freaking random as that. And then he says, okay, Charlotte, who's your type? And she looks around and she sees the girl with like the peacock mask. And then Charlotte does a little wink and the woman winks

coryne:

back. Oh, and that wink was the most like so much effort. Yeah, so much.

francene:

It was like a princess wig. I was

coryne:

like, I mean, like, It's like, it's like when I taught my daughter to wink and they're like, they're like holding that open. Yeah.

francene:

Yeah. There was nothing sexy about that. Wait, no. From

coryne:

Charlotte and the girl winks back, which, and then, and then she's like, I have to get out of here. I have to get, like, she's all flustered. And so they go upstairs and they're somehow in a bedroom again. What, where are they?

francene:

Yeah. They're in a badger

coryne:

high school party. Like what are we doing? They're

francene:

in the bedroom with all the

coryne:

jackets. Yes, they are. So then she's like, you know, she's turned on by her wink. And so she's like, nope. I've never done it in a bedroom at a party or something. So they're fooling around. And then this is the part that's a little bit unbelievable. But like, oh girl, that she just winked at just comes in the room and is like, you know, wants to join them. I know,

francene:

like that's a very, very, very odd. I feel like how Charlotte reacts is probably how I would react in that situation. Like, Oh, hi. It's just like, Oh, okay. Joining in. And then I think you have like the carried monologue being like, okay, well, if this, this was going to be the opportunity, you know, she goes for it. Yeah. But what's even weirder. Is then Jack and that girl just like pounce on one another, like how, I don't even know how I would react. And she does it so well that Charlotte just kind of slips out and just toddles off. But anyone else would be like, excuse me, what

coryne:

the fuck are you doing? Yeah, I know. No, that definitely, I think that that was, no threesome at all. I mean, I do think it was like a great like over overacted, you know, moment of like the worst possible scenario for Charlotte of like how this could play out. And like, she was like, Oh, I'm so sorry. Completely outside of her comfort zone and completely willing to try something that she was, you know, not, had not really ever considered before because this guy had like built her up and made her feel so sexy about it. And then it's like, instantly he was just trying to nail another chick. I know! Like, like, Oh my God. He was so obvious about it. Yes, like they didn't even try to like include Charlotte or like, and the other thing too is remember she has that dream after the one girl who she says touched her leg, that she has the dream about a threesome and that dream is like what you would imagine you would want it to be like, when they're like, come here. Oh yeah. It's like very sexy, very inclusive and very, they're both are into her. And then it's like the, Exact opposite. It's like

francene:

bad You know, Charlotte, I can imagine if her character was asked in the future, have you ever had a threesome? You know, she would say yes. Yes.

coryne:

Yeah. That was her threesome. She did it. She did it. It ended terribly. I was there. Never do it again. Like I watched two people kiss. I

francene:

did it. I was in the same room. And then we cut to what I think is the best moment is Miranda. Speaking of Crazy Carrie, Miranda has definitely I agree. I had a touch of Carrie. This episode she puts, she answers an ad in the newspaper, which I, I didn't even freaking

coryne:

love didn't, we didn't even touch on, Carrie's part of her monologue where she's talking about the ads and those characters that, oh, oh my God.

francene:

Yeah. Oh my God. Oh my God. Cran. Yeah. I have, what did I write? Oh my God.

coryne:

Have so much. So freaking in your face like the one chick who's like Oh God, I can't like I'm the school teacher from the suburbs and I'm looking for two, two men to be all my wildest dreams come true. You be Hispanic or black and I'll be there.

francene:

No. And there was another one. I wrote this down. This girl was like I'm into, like, museums, and this is this, and golden showers, and something else. Oh my god, people used to do ads in the paper for like That

coryne:

used to, that used to really be a thing. Like that, people really fucking did that. Is that crazy? Like A little bit. Look out. They paid money to put a print. That is so.

francene:

They had like such little like

coryne:

characters. It was like Twitter. It was like Twitter. 109

francene:

characters. You know what we need to do for Instagram? We should try and write one. Like what would we write?

coryne:

Oh my God, we need to, we need to go in and rewrite all the ones that we heard and just post them as like text on our Instagram. I'm going to do it. I am going to do it. We're going to get banned. We're going to get banned from Instagram.

francene:

But so Miranda then, Answers the ad. She goes, she goes into the the bar and I will say Miranda's boobs look amazing. She looked, where did they come

coryne:

from? Yeah. Who knew? And where did they go? Cause those, that's not what her boobs look like. She like that.

francene:

They look very voluptuous

coryne:

though. Yes. She looked the sexiest that I can remember seeing her. She was like, listen, dress like that. Your friends will want to fuck you, Miranda. Okay.

francene:

No, she was saying like that at brunch. They would miss her. And I love seeing like the greenness of the couple she sits with. And they're all a little like giggly and making like crappy, like dad jokes. And they're like, Oh my God, we just think you're like, so hot. And she's like, wait, You think I'm hot. And then they were like, what did they say? Like, do you want to get out of here? Or do you, do you want to do it tonight or something like

coryne:

that? Yeah. Are you free tonight or what's your schedule? And she's like, so I just want to be clear. You want to do a threesome with me, which I love the wording of that too.

francene:

Just to be fully

coryne:

clear. No, it's like not, you want to have a threesome with it. You want to do a threesome with me. Tonight. Tonight. And they're like, yes. And she's like, okay, let me go make one call. And she's fucking out of there. Like that's all she needed. And she's fucking Audi. Like that. Now

francene:

she's like, no, what did they say after that piece? It was like the therapist then said that she needed to go see him like three times a week. Like you're

coryne:

not okay. You're not okay. Get in here a little more often.

francene:

And then meanwhile, the other thing I wrote down that I was like, how is this even possible? So obviously after Carrie and Big had that conversation, and then she saw Big's ex, she then didn't see him for eight days.

coryne:

Yeah, because it, and she, that seems a lot, doesn't it? It's a long time. And I, and, and she alludes to the fact that it's because she's like not okay with it. Yeah. Like she's not, okay. Yeah. And I love that the lunch that her and Barbara have and like, Barbara's like, I wanna be friends. And then to know at the end that she knew that that was Big's girlfriend when she was at that lunch. I know. I know. Barbara's a little. I like it, Barbara. I know. I liked it too.

francene:

Yeah. Even yes, I know, but

coryne:

again, another great scene of like big handling it so well where he's like, because she finds out from Barbara that he cheated and that's the part that like stings and I think that's why like they don't see each other and then they see each other and it comes up and she basically like, I love how she says it to where she's like, why did it in and he's like, well, because I cheated on her and and he and I don't remember what it. How she says it. She's like, yeah, I know. She told me. He's like, yeah, I know. She told me. I know. I was like, I love how he's like, look, he's like, obviously like we had the threesome. Cause both of us were looking for something or someone else. And that, and I ended up cheating on her because we weren't happy. Like he just like, it's so mature. And he is so mature.

francene:

He's

coryne:

such an adult. Yes, and it quiets all the crazy and then like he's like holding that together for him, you know, like yeah

francene:

But then I also appreciate that he's and I always feel like he has like the best like classy Lines where he's like, do you know anyone that's right for me and then they end with a kiss And for me, it's just such a perfect Ending to the episode. And then I think she then says from a commentary standpoint, then it was just the two of them. And then you see the ex-wife standing on the side Yeah. Who gently then kind of walks off, which I, I appreciate seeing that too. But yeah, just another example of big trying to reign in her cray

coryne:

He does though. He really does. Like, I really appreciate. The maturity of him in that, you know, it's so funny, like watching it back like this, like, you know, cause we, like, we know the whole trajectory of that relationship. And like, I, before watching it like this, like I definitely had some opinions about who big was and how he treated her in that relationship. And now watching it like this, I don't know. I give Big more credit now. Like, he was really mature in this part of it. Like, I mean, he's gonna fuck

francene:

up, but like. Well, there's, there's I think the next two episodes. After episode nine is when it all goes a little bit to the city, which I, which I'm, which I'm honestly interested to your point, I think we've had a different perspective, seeing how big handles this route, right? That it's going to be interesting debriefing those episodes to see if we truly still feel the same way. Yeah.

coryne:

He's going to make us all.

francene:

Oh, we're like big. What the fuck?

coryne:

I mean, that's how I felt about him through several seasons. Like, I felt like get your shit together.

francene:

No, same. I remember, like, hating

coryne:

him for a while. Oh, me too. And I was thinking about that the other day about, like, what's coming and what we get to talk about. I don't want to, no spoiler alerts, but there, I was thinking about. some conversations that are coming up that are gonna be a, which side do you land on? And yes, for sure. But I'm excited. I know they get in touch, they again hit another like controversial sexual topic in a whole episode. And I love seeing like how it all four of them have a different experience with it. You know,

francene:

Yeah, it's very, very clever writing.

coryne:

And once again, Charlotte, the little Pollyanna princess, is the one who gets closest to actually doing it out of all four of

francene:

them. I know. It's like every episode we see just Charlotte like popping out of this little box being like, Dirtiest one in a very pristine manner, like threesomes. Okay, so that is the end of season one, episode eight. And then next episode is the turtle and the hair. A wrap. We will talk soon.

coryne:

Do do

francene:

do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do

coryne:

do do do do do do do do do.
