Up next in this episode which Francene & coryne break down... little cameo from none other than Bradley Cooper!

Now none of the girls has a relationship, the quartet hits a salsa bar all night, so Carrie is late for a photo-shoot for Stanford's boyfriend Nevin's magazine; the result is worse then she ever feared. Only Samantha is absent from the power-walking, where Miranda bumps into an ex, hunky ophthalmologist Josh, who just didn't give her orgasms; history repeats itself, and she still fakes coming; once she tells him, his confidence is shaken, so he gets her to coach him- now sex feels like an exam subject. Charlotte enjoys the handy jobs done by and kissing with unemployed actor Tom, too much to see him move to Salt Lake City for a soap part, but is that enough? Samantha was picked up by the salsa club's co-owner William, and invites Carrie to join them for the summer in the East Hamptons, but is stood up. At a party with Stanford, drunk Carrie meets single smoker Jake

francen:

Luna had a good first dates day. So I'm so glad. And already she's like, mama, this boy, Samuel, he grabbed my face today. And I'm like define grabbing face. He grabbed my face and went like this. And I was like, Oh, okay. And then she said, and then he said, I have a crush on you. And Oh gosh, what a way for him to do that. What a way for him just to power in and tell you. Yeah, yeah. I don't have a crush on him though and I was like, of course you don't.

coryne:

We need to talk to Samuel about personal space and consent. Okay, that's what we need to discuss with old Samuel. Oh

francene:

my god, I'm driving you.

coryne:

Yeah, Cross she has a boyfriend that is, lives next door to grandma. And yesterday she came by the, yesterday, so she like never ever sees him and he doesn't have any like communication abilities yet, so. Okay. It's real serious between the two of them. And then yesterday she came home from school and she's like, so I know I have a boyfriend, but is it like weird to also have a crush on someone else? High five. That's my girl. Welcome to life. She's hilarious. She's like, there's this new boy in my class.

francen:

I have a very random question. You and Jason, do you guys go to bed at the same time?

coryne:

Yeah, often we do he is very, very much a night owl and like, he doesn't need as much sleep as I do. Like he, that boy can sleep like five, six hours a night and he's good to go. And then he'll have times when he needs to sleep, like he'll sleep like 12 hours for like a day. And like, so you're just like catching up, whereas like I need a minimum of eight hours sleep or it's not going to be pretty. Most of the time we go to bed together. But there are some nights it stays up later than me.

francen:

Yeah. Oh my God. Aaron's the same. I was thinking about it. So I was going to ask you like what time do you normally go to sleep because Aaron's playing pool tonight. And I'm like, great. Now I'm going to be able to fall asleep without being interrupted by like a TV. You know what I mean? Cause I feel like he has like a, another life when I go to sleep. And he's like, Oh, I saw this on this documentary. I've watched this movie or this stuff. And I'm like, Oh my God, how do you function? Like I need this like,

coryne:

I read this article the other day that was basically like a study that women just, we require more sleep because our brains do more all day. And I was like, well, duh.

francen:

Yeah.

coryne:

But you know, I can't go to sleep if like somebody has like the TV on or the lights on or whatever. So like, I would never be able to do that. Like I would have to, like, he'd have to pick another room. So at least like when he comes into the bedroom, like it's. He's, you know, getting in bed and like, he doesn't even watch, that boy doesn't watch TV, like, at all. Like, every time, he's, he's always like, on like, random low key. He's like, babe, do you want to watch a movie tonight? And I'm like, did you mean, do you want me to watch a movie while you fall asleep to it? Is that what you meant? I can count on one hand the number of movies in three years that you've made it through at least half. I'm not even gonna say the whole thing. Like you watched half of the damn thing.

francen:

That's amazing. You

coryne:

cannot, you can't do it. He's like, he's like a shark. If he gets still, he's asleep. Like he falls asleep.

francen:

Wait, so does he like going to the cinema or no?

coryne:

No, he doesn't like to do anything that where you have to sit still. At all. Like he's the boy. He, yeah, he, nothing, nothing. He, he's, he but like, yeah, I mean, he does like to drive, but I feel like it's because, you know, you're actively doing something even though you're sitting, but he is he's busy. He stays busy. Yeah. Which is great. It's honestly, it's really good for me. Like he keeps me busier than I've previewed. I that I normally would be, you know, cause like, I can totally watch like back to back movies and then read a book and be good with it.

francen:

You know, like that's what Aaron's like. I can do a movie for sure, but anything longer, I'm like, okay, we need to get up and we need to like do stuff.

coryne:

Do stuff. Yeah. No, he's, that's him for sure. Which, you know, I mean, don't get me wrong. I never sit still in the house when Crossin's awake or like, unless I'm worried. It's one of the things I don't like about My work load lately is like, I've been sitting a lot more because I just have to, because I have so much to do. But but you know, like at the end of the day, like I'm definitely like a, you know, chill out, watch some TV, go to bed kind of person, but not Jason. He's like running and then he goes to sleep.

francen:

Oh god, that's so funny. Yeah, I look forward to having a peaceful, falling asleep this evening.

coryne:

That's awesome.

francen:

You know,

coryne:

we need to have a party at your house. I feel like

francen:

I know I've seen that to Aaron. I was like, we do need to do something. Yeah, we need to. We need Jason.

coryne:

Yeah. Yeah, definitely. We need to do that. We've Jason. I've been saying that forever. We definitely need to like, do a, like, get together thing, honestly, like we just need to come to y'all's house and bring drinks and like, y'all have like the perfect setup for hang on the back porch, play some pool, like,

francen:

right.

coryne:

Yeah, like Jason wants to play pool too. He's pretty good.

francen:

Oh my gosh. Well, yeah, do that.

coryne:

Yeah. I mean, I'm okay after the first drink and then I suck after the second drink.

francen:

Yeah. I've become really confident. And then I literally just miss all of it. And then I'm like, I don't want to play anyway.

coryne:

I'm done with this.

francen:

You all suck.

coryne:

For sure. It's hilarious.

francen:

Okay, so. This is episode four, right?

coryne:

Yeah, they shoot the single people, right?

francen:

Yes. Season two, episode four, they shoot single people, don't they?

coryne:

Don't they?

francen:

Yes,

coryne:

this episode it has some of my favorite some of my like iconic Sex and the City moments are in it.

francen:

Yes.

coryne:

Yeah.

francen:

And we have a little cameo at the end. I know. I can't wait to talk about

coryne:

that. That's exciting. I can't wait for that. When he, when he, I was, when it came on the screen, I was like, wow, that's right. Like, I was

francen:

like. I was thinking that too. I was like, man, Sex and City have some of the iconic cameos. And

coryne:

before they were, when they were nobody, like, I know there's so many that like, I Already even in season one that I didn't even realize we're in there. Yeah,

francene:

like Harvey Specter. Yes For us all. Yeah, because I mean Harvey Specter

coryne:

Yeah, I didn't even know who Harvey Specter was till like last year because I was really late to the suits game No clue Yeah, but what so the episode kicks off with

francen:

They're all fully partying

coryne:

and Carrie's the

francen:

first time.

coryne:

Yes. Yeah. The first time since we've been watching the show. Well, this time, but I like that Carrie starts it off with this like monologue, like fading into the show where she's like, sometimes in life, there's truly special moments that need to be celebrated to be she usually, she's like really goes into it. And then what that is, is that they're all four of those names. I,

francen:

I'm here for it. They're living their best lives. They're out dancing, getting clubs. Yeah. And what I love is the club owner I don't know if it's the club owner. It, I, I think it is actually. And she reaches Samantha get zero, right. He's, and he's like, you know, trying to get in about, and she's like, oh honey, I'm just with the girls tonight. And I'm like, yes, Samantha, that it's iconic. work. Yeah.

coryne:

And I love that. And Miranda was like, Oh, not ditching us for the hot guy. Classy move. Classy move. Like I love that they even like make note of the fact that she did that. Yeah. That was definitely. And they're doing shots of tequila. Yeah. No. And way to stay committed. Way to stay committed to the girls night. Like good for you. And then I think You want to dance. I own the club. So like, she get to him later, to

francen:

be fair. She's like, I've got you. So then to your point, they then start having shots and Carrie's like, Oh no, no, no, no. I have a shoot photo shoot tomorrow. I need to look fresh. And then she's like, What another drink? And then it's like,

coryne:

no, we never go dancing. One more shot. It's like one more, one more. And then it's like, it's three

francen:

words. We've all been there, but then, you know, what made me laugh the most is you can see her kind of not obviously walk a shame, but her kind of walking back and it's light out.

coryne:

Yeah.

francen:

And in her mind, she's like, okay, well, I stayed up this long. Let me just. Continue to stay up

coryne:

and I'll be good to go. I know. And also like what time was the photo shoot? Because if you were walking home and it was light out, like it was 7 a. m. And so then the photo shoot must have not been until like 10 or 11, which that's tough when you got like you got a three hour window of like stoppage. Yeah, I was thinking about that too. I was like, when's the last time I stayed up all night and I had to like work or function the next day. I

francen:

still can't remember.

coryne:

We're going to take new motherhood out of this conversation. Cause that doesn't count. But I remember, I remember doing that when I was like young, like, I think I was like 19 and I can't remember if I have to work the next day. Like, no, not.

francen:

Well, and also I typically then have such a horrendous hangover. I'm just done. But it's, yeah, it's like the tiredness. And even I find, like, what is like the latest I've stayed up recently? I don't know, maybe 2am. And that's like late for me, like with drinks. And then I wake up and I'm,

coryne:

do you have anything you have to do the next day?

francen:

More so for my own doing, but never do that. If I'd worked the next day,

coryne:

I'd stayed up very late again. My, my dude is a night owl. So this is probably why they're like, Jason and I have stayed up late, late, like three, four in the morning. For sure. I think probably trying to think the latest we've ever stayed up for, for sure has happened, but with nothing to do the next day, no kids, Nothing on the agenda and then like we'll sleep until like 10 and then yeah, so then

francen:

you you can Sleep. Yeah.

coryne:

Yeah, it's fine. There's no big deal, but no I am past the point I have long since been that's the point Like where I could say i'm extremely late and like function in any way the next day like no Plus

francen:

She's like 35 at this point. Yeah. She's no, fuck that. And also I would look, you know, when you wake up after drinking the night before and like your skin is just so dull, like always have like back. Yeah. The dryness

coryne:

circles and like, well, I

francen:

mean, We see it because clearly she does look like we're describing the next scene. She of course falls asleep and wakes up, which also wouldn't you set an alarm? I, that

coryne:

I was, I know I was like, she must've just been like, I'm just going to lay my head down and just instantly fell asleep. But I love when she wakes up. Cause the phone's ringing the newspapers, like stuck to her face. Cause then I imagined, you know, newspaper print. It's like on her face. And it's Stanford College and he's super pissed. She's 40 minutes late. And she's like, I'll be there in 20. He's like, 20 minutes. And she's like, I said 20 minutes.

francen:

Like, and again, you're already irritable. Could you, I couldn't. I honestly. If I was up late, hungover, tired, I don't even think I could move that quickly. It would probably immediately make me sick.

coryne:

There's no way I wouldn't have the world's biggest headache and be nauseous and like want to die. Like there's no way I would feel good enough to drag my ass down. So she drags herself down to the photo shoot, right? It was

francen:

that she was wearing, but she gets on a pawn show.

coryne:

Yeah, there's not a punch, which the poncho. Oh my gosh, there's, there's two fashion things in this episode that I was like, that's really giving it a time period that poncho and then we'll talk about the bucket hat. That's coming

francene:

love ponchos to be honest. I used to be obsessed with ponchos. I had one.

coryne:

Oh man, that takes me back. I had one. It was like, Teal blue. Oh, I loved it. I loved a poncho. It was good times. They're so unflattering.

francen:

They're so unflattering. Yeah, there's nothing like, yeah, it's fully just a trend.

coryne:

It's like, it was like the early 2000s version of a Moo Moo.

francen:

So that's

coryne:

cool, though. We thought it cool.

francen:

Oh, for sure. So then he gets there and Stanford and this is the first time she's meeting the boyfriend, I think.

coryne:

Yes. Well, the whole reason she gets this photo shoot. So they do tell us in this first scene with the girls that it's a photo shoot for an article called single and fabulous, which love. And the only reason they picked Carrie is because Stanford is dating the like someone who works for the photography fee. The whoever they select. I can't remember. He's like the assistant or something like that. So she meets the boyfriend and he's

francen:

And she's like you're about a fucking month late.

coryne:

He's a bitchy gay dude, and he is not impressed and oh, it's hilarious So funny. She's like I need a coffee the size of my head like she's so they sit her down in this part They sit her down like in the What is that? Like the backdrops there and she's on a chair and the photographer's there, and if photographer immediately starts snapping photos, and she's like, there's gonna be time for like makeup, right? She's like, oh yeah, I'm just getting some test shots. And she's smoking. I know.

francen:

It's honestly the worst. It is the worst.

coryne:

I like, I'm no, don't you test shot me until I've got this together. I know.

francen:

I'm like, to be honest, I wouldn't have even sat in that chair like, danger.

coryne:

S

francen:

dangerous, like I, I

coryne:

need no photographic evidence that I ever looked this shit. I know.

francen:

I'm not professional. I'm surprised. I am surprised she, or I don't know, maybe when you feel that shit, you're just like, whatever. They've just told me to sit down here and I'm late, but I would never have sat. I feel

coryne:

like probably because she was so late, it was like, she's not going to argue. Like she's, she's now starting to like make up for the fact that she's over an hour late. Yeah. So they, and we don't see the rest of the photo shoot. Like we don't see. You know, like anything passed, they're taking test shots and whatever. And so like, that's the end of the car

francen:

looking fucking horrendous.

coryne:

Yeah. And she's like, hello, she's like, do you mind if I smoke in here? And the photographer's like, I don't care if you shoot up, like.

francen:

I know that's what I mean. Red flag on like, okay, clearly she's okay with me looking like shit right now.

coryne:

Yeah. Yeah. Like she's going for it. Like this could not go your way, Carrie.

francen:

So then they cut to, they go power walking and I appreciate this power walking cause like Miranda and Charlotte are fully into it, wearing their like, you know, running stuff and Carrie's like, Kind of wearing like what capri leggings and like a hoodie and

coryne:

shoes. I was impressed with that.

francen:

Yeah, that's true And she's like, well, when are we gonna start walking and then this is when The guy that Miranda runs with in one of the running clubs, his name's Joel. So he comes up and starts running backwards, which, already like douchey mood, but anyway. Who also, isn't he a famous actor?

coryne:

He is famous, but he was already pretty famous when he was in this. But, Isn't he in future episodes too? I think he comes back again.

francene:

Oh, he does?

coryne:

I think he does. I could be wrong, but he, I remember him in a bigger part than this episode, but we'll see. We'll see as it unfolds. He totally is like, Hey, Miranda, like, what's up? And, and she's like very like, kind of curt and he's like, okay. He is like Miranda. Yeah. Yeah. He's like, you have my number. And then he runs off and the girls are like, oh, what's that? And she's She said he's an opt optometry, I can't even say it. Ophthalmologist that I faked it with a few. And Carrie's like, Miranda, you faked it? Like, so offended that she, and that opens this whole conversation of why, and like, you know, all those things. And so she's explaining to them, like, she had sex with him a couple of times and like, you know, she faked it with him and then she just didn't return his last call and she fooled Charlotte. Charlotte doesn't miss a beat. She's like, You broke up with the guy for that?

francen:

I know, I love Charlotte.

coryne:

Charlotte, and she's like, they go into this whole thing and Charlotte's like, you know, I mean, what's a couple minutes of ooh, ah, yeah, or someone just snuck away. It's all night like she's like this whole diatribe of how like that is not a deal breaker not being able to give you to orgasm is not a deal breaker for Charlotte guys. Okay, she's, she's she's gonna stick it out. She's gonna stick it out on that one,

francen:

which is, I mean, I could understand like it. Not happening every time, but never. Yeah. Well, and I will say like never.

coryne:

Yeah, no, never is tough. I mean, I don't know. This is, this is a, this is a can of worms conversation because like, I know, like I have good friends who it's never, ever happened for them ever in their life. During the act, like it, it can happen, but not with intercourse.

francen:

Oh, I see what you mean. Yes. Okay. Yeah. I've also, yes. I, I, one of my friends who I remember hearing this shocking, shocking revelation. Cause I thought, I don't know, it was, I was like, what do you mean? Yeah.

coryne:

I think for the, the secret truth that men don't want to know about women is like it for all of us. Well, I will say all of us for the vast majority of us, it doesn't happen every time during it or like, it's not a guarantee like it is for them. So like, I mean, I get that, but yeah, I mean, I feel like, I don't know. I don't know if after like two dates, that's enough to like, call it or not, you know, like if it was never going to happen.

francen:

And also like, I don't know, this is probably a very. I don't know, romanticized thing to say, but like for me, I always have to have a connection in order to enjoy it more or like hit that climax, right? Versus, and I've never done a one night stand, so like, who knows, but. You know what I mean? Unless it's like, You're

coryne:

totally right. And like, I, I have, it's something it took me later in life to figure out. But like, mine is like, connection is one way to say it. Mine's a level of comfort. Like, I have to be like, I'm not comfortable enough to let myself go like that with someone. So like, same thing, like, and that's, that's definitely like I, to Charlotte's point, while if I knew it was never going to happen, yeah, that's probably not something that seems super sustainable. I also don't think after two dates I could have told you that or not,

francen:

but you'd be like, let's talk. Power through and as long as, yeah, let's, I mean, it's not like a one minute of like pump pump and then you're like,

coryne:

right. If it's like enjoyable and it feels good and like going down that path, like it's going to happen eventually. But maybe, maybe Miranda is someone who like, it happens every time for her. Like, maybe like every time she has sex, like maybe she's one of those lucky girls. That like, so maybe she knew like that fast that it wasn't going to happen or whatever. Favorite line out of that was Miranda goes, I'll take an orgasm over a cup of French press coffee. Any day, Gary said, it's a toss up for me.

francen:

Love it. Like at this point, when. Miranda stays that about, Oh, you know, he's the guy I like fake, like an orgasm with immediately. Carrie gets out her cigarettes and she was like, we're, we're stopping.

coryne:

We're stopping. We need to, this is going to require smoke. I love that. She's like smoking. I'm going

francen:

to walk. They're like the best. So then after that little power walk and Carrie then walks back to her apartment and. And. And she goes to grab more cigarettes and then

coryne:

she sees it,

francen:

And she sees the magazine cover and it says single and fabulous question

coryne:

mark.

francen:

And the picture is literally from that test shoot. Like it is

coryne:

great. Heroin addicts. Bad. Yeah, like, oh, bad. Look bad. And she's, of course, fucking mortified. And then cut to her and the girls are eating together. I would die.

francen:

Like, that's awful. This technique. In New York as well.

coryne:

Ooh, I know, and that, you know, my first thought is like, oh, God, Big saw that. Oh my God, yes. Oh. I mean, and not just big, but like everyone you've ever dated who like, like take it back to that episode where she was talking about like the rules of seeing your ex for the first time after like, you have to like, well, you just fuck that up. But

francen:

I don't even think she wasn't. Was she interviewed? Because I know when she sits down with the girl, Charlotte's kind of reading out part of the article.

coryne:

Yeah, but it doesn't have any, like, direct quotes from her. It's like, because the article featured several single and fabulous women. Carrie just made the cover because she looked like a heroin addict.

francen:

They obviously took a slant on it because I think they also mentioned in the article about Like staying up late and partying and

coryne:

yes, yeah Well, and I will say especially in our current political climate to hear them read That excerpt from that article. I was like, holy shit. Like if an article like that came out today It wouldn't come out today because like it's so fucking offensive what they were saying that like It's basically like the whole You know, Line that has recently come out in politics about like childless women are unhappy cat ladies or which What in the fuck are you talking about? First of all And I know I know more women who are fucking miserable who are married than my single friends. Okay, i'm just saying but like the That whole art. Everything they read. I was like, that is so offensive. Like so bad. Yeah. And they were basically making the point of like you know, these single women are like trying to distract themselves from how miserable they are with like,

francen:

and look at them

coryne:

and random dudes. And I'm like, no, that was like a good fucking time. I don't know.

francen:

It's just, isn't it such a shame because had And I wonder the intent of the article prior to that photo shoot, you know, knowing that they, there's no way they would have changed their thought process with one person coming in looking shit and hungover.

coryne:

I wonder, I wonder if like they saw the opportunity to go salacious with it, you know, and like that was going to sell more coffee. Yeah. And they had an opportunity and they went with it because Carrie makes a big point that like, that was not how the article was sold to her. Single and fabulous exclamation point. And they had all of this, that they have this whole punctuation conversation. And then she's like, Miranda, can't we sue them? And she's like, what for mispunctuation? My God, it is also where the bucket hat. Makes its entry Oh, yes. Into the city, which very nineties. She's trying to be incognito, but I'm like, I, I don't know how I feel about the fact that Carrie Bradshaw ever owned a bucket

francen:

They're very big right now too.

coryne:

I know. They've totally made a comeback. It's one of, it's one of the trends that I am gonna put in the bucket with Crocs and I hate Crocs

francen:

and rise jeans.

coryne:

Oh, I used to wear low rise jeans though. I'm, I'm that generation where that used to be cool.

francen:

You know, I don't know if I did, but I certainly couldn't pull it off now. So I don't agree with

coryne:

it. No, I wouldn't do it anymore. I don't even, I think the, I think, Last year, I was going through some old clothes of mine and I had saved a pair of jeans that fit me again. And I think I put them on and to be fair, like they, they were not low rise then. They were like mid rise when I put them on. And when I put them on, I was like, holy fucking shit. Like my hip bones are hanging out. What is this? How do you keep these things on? So, yeah, I would definitely not be comfortable in that vibe. I mean, we're going to look back on these ultra high waist jeans that we've, you know, most of us have taken it.

francene:

So here for, it does look good. I

coryne:

like it. But in 20 years, we're going to be talking shit about that.

francen:

Luna's going to be like Luna across them. We'll be like, Oh, imagine for this. And we're like,

coryne:

So,

francen:

of course, this article has rocked the girls and you then they

coryne:

all say that it hasn't and they all justify how it's bullshit and they are single and fabulous exclamation point and then cut to. It's had an effect.

francen:

I love that. So you instantly cut to Miranda faking an orgasm with Josh. Then it's Charlotte bringing in her DIY guy who is Tom. He's an out of work actor friend and he's helping out with things around the house. And then you can see her being like, And then I think he says to her. That he is looking to move.

coryne:

He's planning to leave, yeah.

francen:

Yeah, because he's been offered a

coryne:

Christian sitcom, he says. It's a movie for like But it's a raggedy,

francen:

right? Yeah,

coryne:

yeah.

francen:

So, obviously, after this conversation of being single and fabulous, she's like, Oh, I don't know if I want him to move. So you can see her like, thinking through that. And then, of course, Samantha met the club owner.

coryne:

She went dancing with the club owner so that immediately all three of them have like picked up a new Potential interest in the wake of this single and fabulous question mark article and Carrie Like Carrie does it which I think is funny if right away She does it like she's just like, you know sulking in her place And she's like,

francen:

Oh,

coryne:

man, and yeah, well, and that's, she's, I mean, that is tough because it's like, you can't leave the house. Like everyone's seen that I know

francen:

mortified until the next one came out, but this starts writing her next article. And one of her statements is, are we faking entire relationships? And what's interesting is to your earlier point and me and Aaron were talking about this the other day. Yeah. It's interesting how many. Couples are like situations that. You have exposure to that. You're like, are you all just like baking? Like, you know what I mean? Like, are you truly like happy or

coryne:

yeah.

francen:

I don't know. Like when you think about it in so many elements of like our life, and then you think about like social media, right? Like you're never going to portray like, Oh, today fucking sucked. This is this. And I fell out with my husband and like my kid pissed me off. Yeah. Yeah. Not going to post.

coryne:

No, no. So that is, you know, it is something that I feel like as, as someone who came out of a relationship that shocked everyone when I did, and like, you know, I don't feel like we were faking it. I, I, cause I, I don't feel like it's a conscious thing that you, I feel like there, there's a period of time where like, you don't know it. Like, you don't know that like, You're, you know, it all looks good on the surface. You know what I mean? Like you don't realize that that's what's happening or at least for me. Cause like, I, I feel like, you know, there was so much good there and like day to day life was good, you know what I mean? And maybe that's cause I didn't come out of something that was like fucking miserable. Like I, you know, I have good friends who came out of fucking bad situations and they definitely were putting on a brave face. But I feel like that's also like, it's, it's part of being in a committed relationship with someone is like, you, you know, you put on a brave face because like, you're committed to it and, and you don't, you know, you don't want everyone to know your business or like to have your problems on front street, like you want to present a united front, you know? So yeah, that definitely happens for sure. Like, I definitely feel like, you know, People are putting on brave faces or faking it or, you know, working through hard times at, at points in your relationship, for sure. Relationships are such a fucking, you know, I mean, there's like so many people who've spent their lives, work, writing books or making movies.

francen:

I know trying to give like, Guidance or, or how.

coryne:

Yeah. And it's not, you know we put so much as a society, we put so much emphasis on your romantic relationship, you know, the, your partner and all that stuff. But it's, I mean, that's true. It's true of any relationship. Like it requires less, but like my best friend and I talk about this all the time. Cause like our relationship seems so effortless and I'm like, yeah, but we haven't lived together since we were in college. Yeah. We've never shared. Bill's and kids and all of and slept in the same bed every night. Like there's a lot of intimacy in a romantic relationship that you don't have in your other relationships that I feel like if you did, you would experience probably a lot of this, some similar stresses, you know, even if it's with a best friend that you feel like it's an effortless relationship with you pile on all that other shit. Yeah. like you're gonna you're gonna have Yeah,

francen:

I mean, to your point, one of the things I do appreciate like maybe the older I've got are more comfortable. I'd become like with my friend relationships. Is being able to have some of those honest discussions on, and don't get me wrong, not like, Oh, my husband's a dick today, but you don't feel like, Oh, I'm finding like this thing, like really hard or like, you know, about like in, in, in fertility, not where I'm going to admit something on the pod. Like things like that, where. It's nice to be able to have like a circle of friends that you know, you can be like, honest with and they're that honest with you and you can have those discussions versus, and we've all had those friends were like, no, no, no, everything's perfect and no, no, no, like we never fall out. No, no, no, we never, we never do this. And you're like, fuck off.

coryne:

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Like, well, that's just an inauthentic relationship. I mean, that's for sure. Like, I feel like same thing as I've gotten older, like, you know, having like having friends and I mean, I'm a, I'm a, I'm an open ass book anyway, but like, it's something that I've come to appreciate. And like my girlfriends and I, who have been through divorces have talked about it. It's like, why weren't we telling each other what was wrong? Like, why weren't we talking about it? And it comes back to like, you feel like you're protecting. Your significant other and protecting your marriage. And like, you don't want to bad mouth them, but like, you got to get to a place where like your, your girlfriends, your closest people, like you can say anything and there's, they're still on both of your sides. I'm not bad mouthing him. I'm stressed out about this. And like, you know, and that's definitely something that like, my friends are great now about like, you know, they, they helped me kind of see it from both sides. They're not like gassing me up and like, Hey, fuck that dude. Like, no, we're past that. It's like, you know, let's try to like, See it from both sides and like, calm down, you know, my spiral of, of fuck that guy in my head. Yeah. It is something I say all the time, too, is like, as women, we don't talk about the hard stuff, not just relationships, but like, yeah, infertility or like, what it's really like to be pregnant or like. Oh, yeah. The kids, like, we don't, we, cause we love him so damn much. And like, you feel like a terrible mom. If you're like, I'm I almost ended her today. Like this little bitch here. Well, like we, we need to have more honest conversations. And I think it's. It's equally we have to exist in a place where we aren't judging each other. You know,

francen:

yeah,

coryne:

yeah.

francen:

They will continue to grow that safe space.

coryne:

Yes.

francen:

Okay. So what's been happening? Okay, now all the girls are at Carrie's apartment. They're watching a movie. Oh, Oh my God. Isn't this so typical? Like they're watching a movie. The couple just begin to fuck and immediately she's coming.

coryne:

And Miranda's so pissed off about it. Like she's not.

francen:

What the fuck?

coryne:

She can't even deal.

francen:

Especially when it goes like, in all honesty though, when you watch those like movies and it's like, there's no foreplay, there's no nothing.

coryne:

Yeah.

francen:

Like they barely kissed at that point. And she's like coming over the kitchen table and you're like,

coryne:

Well, I will say Miranda makes such a great point. She's like, this isn't even the guy's fault. Like, this is unrealistic. And of course they think it's that easy. And she's so right. Like, I mean, that and porn, like, of course they think it takes no freaking effort. Like that's all that's being shown to them, you know? So, I mean, yeah, I totally, she's, she's absolutely right to be angry. I love the conversation that ensues where she's like complaining about the dude she's with and like, you know, that's, that she's, she's back to faking it or whatever. Yeah. And she says, she says to the girl, she's like, I mean, how did he think that that's all it takes to get me off? And Carrie's like, because you're faking it.

francen:

I know. Yes. I love the fact that Carrie says that.

coryne:

Yeah, for sure.

francen:

So then we cut to Samantha meets the club owner. He mentions that he has a house in the Hamptons and he's like, Oh, we should go and spend the summer there. But he keeps on using the word we and it's like burning her on.

coryne:

Yeah. Which is so bizarre too. Like with Samantha what again, and I've been saying this since season one, but like watching these back, like her character changes so much. It's like the Samantha we know and love would be like like, don't you? Yeah. Yeah.

francen:

It is interesting how like, and it's always. Same with like, James and Smallcock, if there's always moments of like, vulnerability. Yeah,

coryne:

it's vulnerability. Yeah.

francen:

And there's always another situation that plays into her allowing herself to be like, Oh, we could be we, but you're right. The amount that we know would be like, fuck me, I don't need you, I'm gonna get my own house in the Hamptons.

coryne:

You're right, like, no, me and the girls already got one, but maybe I'll see you there. Yeah, I've got it. Yeah.

francen:

And then we cut to Miranda, who He's having sex with Josh and it's just laid back and what cracks me up is like, she's gone like to your point, poor guys, specifically him. She's gone from, Oh my God, yes, this amazing to say nothing. No, I say with

coryne:

thought

francen:

and I was like,

coryne:

like stop faking it and don't lay there like a limp fish.

francen:

Oh my God, it was making me cringe. And he's like, Cause I think he comes and then he's like, did you come? And then also timing wise, I don't know if that's a time that I would immediately be like, oh, I need to tell you something.

coryne:

You've never given me an orgasm. This

francen:

whole time and his poor little face. He's like, well, can you teach me? Like, I wanna know. I appreciate that.

coryne:

I love too, like the first, his first instinct, he's like, wait, so like never. And she's like, no, never. And he's like, oh, is there something like wrong with you I would slap it. And then she's like, no. Like I, I've done it with other people and just never happened with you. And he's like, yeah, I only asked because like, I, you know, every other girl I've ever been with is kind. And she's like, oh yeah.'cause you thought I was. Coming until about two seconds ago, and he has this realization. I know. What a way to

francen:

like just

coryne:

ruin. Oh, never given anyone an orgasm, or guy. Fucking Miranda cuts deep,

francen:

man. No, I know. Like I feel like she switches off. She's like, no emotion, no care.

coryne:

Yeah, she's cutthroat and so then they do have a car. He's like, teach me. And she's like, you know, she's like, okay, she's like, well, I just feel like, you know, a woman's body is more classic. I know a woman's body. I'm a doctor. And she's like, you're an ophthalmologist.

francen:

And then she's like, do you know where the clitoris is? And he's like, yeah. And she's like, oh, it's like,

coryne:

Two inches from where you think it is.

francen:

And he's like, oh my

coryne:

god. Oh god.

francen:

Good for her. At least she gave him some tips.

coryne:

Yeah, I mean she did decide she's gonna give it the college try and try to train him up. But you know, that's hilarious. She's so, she is she pulls no punches that one. No.

francen:

We'll see if he is back. Yeah. But then it cuts to a scene where we mentioned before Charlotte is obviously seeing an opportunity with Tom, the act, the actor and convinces him not to move. Of course. I can't believe you didn't take that role.

coryne:

What?

francen:

I love it.

coryne:

I know. I know. And I love that Carrie comes over and they, it's like the play on the Wii thing. Yeah. Like we're gonna redo this in the house and then we're moving on to the kitchen and we're doing tile and then we're doing this and we're doing, and I'm like, Oh my God. Yeah. And then she's like sitting down privately with Carrie and talking about it and like explaining the whole thing. And like, he's so masculine and he could fix things around the house. And Carrie's like, Charlotte, you can't create a relationship with somebody because they can fix things around the house. And she's like, yes, you can. Because

francen:

I think then the next scene, she kisses him. Right.

coryne:

No, it's before this scene. So the first thing we see him with, he's fixing stuff and he's telling her he's leaving and she pulls him in for a kiss. Go Charlotte. Yeah, so Charlotte. So this is like the second time and they're like fully weeing it up. He's like fixing everything around the house. They're getting married. Charlotte's already planned

francen:

it out.

coryne:

Oh, yeah, for sure. Like they're, they're working on the baby's room next. Like, yeah.

francen:

And then with Samantha, we then cut to her waiting for the club owner, William. And he never shows up in the restaurant.

coryne:

No, she goes to this nice romantic restaurant. And I guess they had planned to meet there. And she's like, Actively getting stood up and like, we watched the whole scene, like unfold of her getting stood up and like, yeah, and she, he, I, they make the point that like, he used weed to get what he wanted, which I guess was having sex with her. But hi, it's Samantha, like, you have to do that. Like, she was a sure thing. Anyway, like, what in the world?

francen:

But I love the scene where the waiter obviously acknowledges that this is happening. So she goes to the bathroom and she's pretty emotional. Like I think there's potentially maybe a tear. And he waits for her outside the bathroom. And then and then doesn't he say, you can give me five minutes. I'm about to finish my shift. I will take you home. And that. Something like I will, I would never send you up or I will always look

coryne:

at. He says he like meets her at the bathroom. He's been super nice. Ask if she's okay. She says she is. And then he kisses her.

francen:

That's it. Yeah.

coryne:

And then she, and she lets him and they say, they're like, and Samantha, let the bus boy kiss her. Like she was in such a desperate state and then they back up. And he says to her, he's like, if you take me home tonight, you won't be alone. Yeah. It's like, No, thanks. Like she's good for her. She doesn't let it sink to that level. And then I love, she like goes to walk away and she turns back and you're like, Oh, is she going to change her? No, she tips him. Classy Samantha. Classy move. I love the fur she has on in that scene too. She's got this like white, like wrap fur.

francen:

Yeah. She looks fabulous.

francene:

Yeah. I love

francen:

that. And then. So the next part is then, I'm sorry, actually, before, before that scene with the Samantha and the waiter, we see a scene of like Carrie, she's out partying or she goes to a party. And I think maybe this is like the first time she's been out and then it cuts to her where she then bumps into The cameo of Bradley Cooper.

coryne:

Oh my God. When he comes through like the, into the scene, I was like,

francene:

I know,

coryne:

right. I totally forgot. He was so young. He's so young. And that, well, I love that she's out with Stanford. She's like drinking the new tartini and she's getting completely sloshed and like, she's gets, she gets like shitty with that one guy. She spills the drink on. She's like, You know, like she's a kid and Stanford's like, okay, Missy, it's time to go home. She doesn't want to go home. And she's like, I want to stay and meet cute guys. And Stanford's like, honey, everyone here is gay line that she says next. If I have not said this line 12 times in my life. Okay. She's like, Thanks.

francen:

And I do love that cue meeting Bradley Cooper.

coryne:

Yeah. And then there he is Bradley Cooper, like looking, looking hot. And there he's obviously like, why he was giving off wild. She's giving off, you know, same energy. And they're like all over the club, all over each other. And he's like, you want to go for a ride in my Porsche? Like,

francen:

especially in New York. And also when you've been like partying. I don't know. What like an interesting thing that you would even, I didn't even know people have cars in New York.

coryne:

Yeah. Very rare to have a car in New York, right? Like that's not common by any means. Maybe that's why

francen:

it was a cool thing.

coryne:

Yeah. Maybe that was why it was like really a desirable thing. Like, Oh, he's got a car. Like how exciting.

francen:

And then when they get to the car or maybe they've been driving for a little bit and then they stop. He, he goes to get some smokes or something. And then my God, he comes back to the car. It's the magazine cover being like, is this you? I would have

coryne:

died. I know. I know. I know. Like, and it's like, she's like, she's tried her best to escape, you know, like that hanging over her head. She's gone out. She's had a good time. She's gotten clean. And there it is, right in her fucking face, like she can't get away from it, like, can't do it. To be fair, like, even if, you know, I was in that situation and like, he sees this, I look great now, you know what I'm saying? So, like, I don't care that you see, like, Yeah, that's me. And look how great I look now. You know what I'm saying?

francen:

I know a part of me, and maybe I'm only saying this because I know it's Bradley Cooper, but a part of me would have been like, Oh yeah, they, they wanted, you know what I mean? They want to look or something and like, Oh yeah, like,

coryne:

Oh yeah, I did that. They, they made me look crazy for the cover, you know, like, yeah, totally would have explained it away.

francen:

You seem like. Oh man, is this you as in like, Whoa, is this you versus, Oh my God, is this you? You look like shit.

coryne:

Yeah. Yeah. Either way. I don't care. I look great today. Like, this is what I normally look like. That obviously is not it.

francen:

I feel like it's a missed opportunity when she cause then she's like, I'm, I'm leaving. Like she gets out the car and leaves.

coryne:

Yeah, she's definitely, it's definitely has struck a nerve to say the least with her. Like she's not, she's not feeling it by any means.

francen:

She like walks away so often, doesn't she? Even when you look back at the, like the Dolce Gabbana ball with the new Yankee.

coryne:

Yeah. It, it makes for a good ending scene.

francen:

Yes. We do

coryne:

it often.

francen:

Yeah. It's true. Cause that's basically how they end it. And I've forgotten the last line. That she says. I can't remember

coryne:

the very last line of it either. I just remember the Bradley Cooper scene where they're like with him in the magazine and striking a chord. I don't remember the last line being like, super poignant. I mean, most of them are

francen:

probably something like. Should have written it down. I'm sure it was something like, well, maybe I, I don't know.

coryne:

Maybe I was faking it. Or maybe I'm sure it was something to the effect of like, yeah, she was, she was going to be okay with the fact that she was single or not, you know, try to mask it or whatever, but all in all. Great episode and I feel like it's it definitely like the whole faking orgasms conversation again Not a conversation people were having I feel like out loud during this time So like that dived into like a whole, you know level of conversation for people watching it which was really good and then the It's like, it's such an interesting thing, especially now, but like the being single, like the choosing to be single, Oh, that's one line I forgot to mention where they're sitting around talking about the article altogether. And they, there's some mention in the article about being 40 and single. And Samantha is like, who's 40, you bitch, you over 40. Okay. Quit faking it. It's you. You're the one. I love her for it though. I love her for it. That's hilarious. It's hilarious.

francen:

Oh, my gosh. That was a good episode. And then the next one is, I was just looking ahead. So episode five is four women and a funeral.

coryne:

Oh, I remember this. I remember this. That's a good one too.

francen:

Yeah, that is a good one.

coryne:

Yeah, it's a funeral, a fab funeral.

francen:

He's a fabulous funeral.

coryne:

There's a good fashion coming up for sure.

francen:

Yeah, they are. Isn't it?

coryne:

I think so. I can't, there's some, I can't remember how they say it, but it's a bad funeral. It'll be a good one for review, for sure.

francen:

All right. Well, we will see you back here soon for season two episode five. Yay.
