When even her friends are sick and tired of Carrie's raving after the break-up with Mr. Big, she takes their advice to go to therapy, as everybody does in Manhattan, and gets a surprise bonus: in the waiting room she meets Seth, who proves a substitutive therapy in the flesh. Samantha picks up a man in a sports bar, but will even she ever get his full and undivided attention for nonathletic practice? Miranda feels really flattered when a gorgeous man in the adjacent building goes from flirting to stripping at the window, but when she meets him learns his eye is on a male tenant one floor below hers.

coryne:

I'm ready. I'm ready to podcast it. Let me get my screen where it's, how are you feeling? I'm better. I I definitely am like not a hundred percent, but I'm really close to it. So my God, that sucks. I still have like a cough and like some stuff in my chest, but all in all, I'm back.

francene:

You're just living, living your best life, 2025.

coryne:

Yeah, for real, just getting the freaking year started with the flu. You know, hopefully that means I like, it's, I knocked it out for the year. I can't tell you, like, I don't, I cannot remember the last time I had the flu. Like I think I was a kid.

francene:

Yeah, I do feel like some of, like, my colleagues and, like, friends, they were hit, like, hard, like, either before Christmas or in between Christmas and New Year.

coryne:

Okay. See, it wasn't just me. And I was like, you know, like, what the fuck? Like, how did I catch this? But I mean, you know, we were like me and cross and went to the Galleria one day we went to theater under the stars. Lots of germs. Yeah. Like, and then I took, I went to Brenham and took all my step kiddos out for lunch one day. And like, there was one other thing that we were Oh, I went out to dinner with Derek and, and friends in like this really intimate sushi restaurant where there was people all over. So I definitely was like out in public more frequently and I'm sure I just got it somewhere out in the world. But I'm,

francene:

you

coryne:

know, it happens.

francene:

Hey, before we start, I'm curious, have you seen the substance, you know, the movie? No. So, you know they had the Golden Globes the other day. Yeah. Demi Moore won, like, Best Actress for this movie. So anyway, I've been wanting to watch it for ages, so we watched it last night.

coryne:

Yeah.

francene:

I really want you to watch it, just so we can, like, debrief, because it is, like, it's all about that, I mean, fine line, like, fine line between, like, what's Quick beauty fixes and what you're willing to give up in order for that, like beauty and popularity. And, oh my God, it's so fucked up. Like I've been having, like, I literally had like a nightmare last night, this morning. I've just, I can't stop thinking about it, but it's like, I don't know how to describe it. It was like messed up. It made me feel emotional. It made me feel a little sick, but yeah, I liked it.

coryne:

And i'm here for it.

francene:

I know it's weird like it was just it was so interesting just like What I don't know just especially like I know we've spoken about like zempic and like other things.

coryne:

Yeah,

francene:

and But it's like a million times steps over that.

coryne:

Okay. Well, I will put it on my, what's it on?

francene:

We watched it on the Amazon. It's not like you had to pay for it. We paid like 3, but I'm sure in a couple of weeks I'll be free, but I just, I need to hear your opinion. Okay.

coryne:

I'm sure I have Amazon like digital rewards. that I can get it for free. I'm always like, every time I'm ordered, I'm like, Oh yes, I can wait two more days and therefore not have to.

francene:

I know. Honestly, we normally do the same. And I'm sure had I looked at this like a week before she won like the golden globe, I'm sure it was free. But anyway,

coryne:

it's not so much.

francene:

No.

coryne:

Okay. Oh, I see the substance. Okay. She looks so good, by the way, speaking of,

francene:

oh, she looks incredible. Do you know what's also interesting? Like, I was telling Aaron all these, like, fun facts, and literally halfway through, he was like, Francine, will you just shut the fuck up and watch a film? I'm like, oh, I'm sorry, I can't help it. But she plays, like, a 44 year old. And she's, like, 62.

coryne:

Yeah, at least 62 like that

francene:

itself.

coryne:

I know she's legit like aging backwards, like she looks so good. I have to say, I've only caught a little bit of the golden gloves. I didn't, I didn't get, I just have like, things have been so crazy I haven't been able to like enjoy. I just said to the outfits that yes, but I have to say that like we could all lay off the Ozempic. Like everyone I

francene:

know, Ariana Grande. Holy shit.

coryne:

Too thin her and Cynthia Erivo and like I have watched Wicked so many times now. I've lost count you

francene:

will be popular You're gonna be popular

coryne:

Obsessed cross it and I both completely obsessed, but they are so Tiny I know I could put my hands. I know Like there's there to both of them too thin way too thin like they're too thin And I know we're not supposed to judge other women's bodies. I know, but

francene:

it's, it's like extreme, especially when you see like specifically Ariana, like before she was skinny, like, I mean, before that's like, you describe her as like small and it's like, how, how did you get smaller?

coryne:

I know. Like she was all, she's always been a tiny person, even if like Ross is obsessed with her. She, not specifically her, but there, she was on this show called Victorious that was on Disney, and that was like her printout, and then she did another show, Crossin Loves both those shows. even back then, very tiny person, little bitty person. But like, if you saw her face now compared to, and I mean, she was also a child, but like, yeah, unbelievable. Like she, how did you get that much thinner? Like, and you're the other one that always disturbs me, but Nicole Kidman, like, yeah, she's getting to the point with her, where her head is too big. Tiny little skeleton that is underneath that like that is not attractive like I am

francene:

too

coryne:

thin

francene:

I do feel and I know I know we've like made this comment before But I feel like we had a couple of years where there was like Like curvy was in

francene (2):

yeah,

francene:

just a little bit more like meat was in and now I feel we've gone fully back to like the early 2000s it's

coryne:

like late 90s the what did they call it back then? It was like

francene:

the heroin heroin heroin

coryne:

addict. That's it. Yeah,

francene:

seriously though like Kate Moss

coryne:

Yeah, but I mean that, you know, like, and the funniest thing is if you put a normal skinny person, like, like somebody like a regular person who is very thin next to any of those people. They look huge.

francene:

I know.

coryne:

That's the scary part of it. You're making normal, thin people look like they aren't thin. 100%.

francene:

You know Jurassic Park, you know Bryce Howard?

coryne:

Yes.

francene:

Oh my god, I love her. She's beautiful. But I think she's like a size So this is do a four or six six or

coryne:

seven, eight and she likes plus size. That's

francene:

what I mean. Because you're comparing it to like. Wait, no,

coryne:

like literally to skeleton, like a skeleton is what you're comparing it to. Of course. But I saw a picture of Melissa McCarthy, who I adore. Yeah. Very thin, but she was standing next to one of those actresses. And I was like, How is it possible that she still looks plus size? I know. And, and she's lost a ton of weight. I am. And like very, it's, it's, it's it just, we, we did such a, we had such a moment there of like body positivity and like, you know, casting actresses that were not.

francene:

It's just a shame. Like, it's just not like realistic. Like I sometimes, so during the holidays and I'm like, I would say, well, I wouldn't say like it is true. Like I am a, I'm a size six, but like my butt is big. So like there are times like Zara, my favorite store. I love it. I've been going there since I was a kid. I can always, like it, it, It works on me, but I'm a large and there is sometimes that I will like buy stuff that it still doesn't fit. And in my mind I'm like, but I'm a six. Like what? And I think to myself, I'm like, then what do other people do? Yeah. Yeah. You know what I mean? I'm like a six, that's it? That's your limit of Zara? A six

coryne:

should be a small, like, cause you know, like who else? I mean, yeah, that, oh, I'm dropping my computer on you. I am a 10 and like, I, there, it's so crazy how, like some stores, I can't, I just can't shop there. Like, and I'm a, I'm a 10, like, I'm like, like, that's just so crazy. Yeah. But then there's other stores that I'll shop at and I wear like I'm a medium or a small even. And then I'm like, what are the people who are forced? It's so all over the map. And like,

francene:

do you know where it makes me feel good? When I go to Bucky's and I always buy like Luna, a Bucky's t shirt, I buy an extra large kids. I can wear,

coryne:

yeah, I can wear, I'm at the stage now where I can wear Crossan's clothes. I can't and it like, you're like, is this mine or yours? Yeah, yeah, no, we're there. We're there. Literally, I'm not even kidding you. We went to Express the other day because we were trying to get outfits to go to the theater that night. And she can wear like an adult extra small or small. And And I what were we doing? Oh, we were getting dressed. And when we got there, we were changing clothes in the dressing room. She's like, mommy, did you get me new leggings? And I was like, I mean, I did a few weeks ago and she's like, you feel so soft. I love it. And like, they fit really good. And I'm like, okay, we're changing in the dressier. They're my brand new, expensive black.

francene:

You're like, no, no, they're mine.

coryne:

Those are don't get used to it. Those are mine. But I like the fact that those ended up in your drawer and you put them on and we got all the way to the mall before we realized it. Like, you're wearing my pants, like Oh my god. Yeah, kids. My mom has always done that. But my mom's tiny. Like, she's like five two. Yeah, she's small. Yeah, like a buck ten soaking wet. Like, she's always worn like the big, like the biggest kid's size. Because it's cheaper. It's cheaper too. It's so much cheaper. I know. It's

francene:

infinitely cheaper.

coryne:

Short so she can carry it off. Like I can't. I can do it with like shirts, like Crossing has a couple like hoodies and I'm like, oh, I'm totally stealing this

francene:

You're like, I'm buying this for you, mom. Really? It's funny. Really?

coryne:

It's for me. Yeah. I could totally wear like the 14 sixteens in kids sizes. Now, but yeah, sizing's all over the map. Hollywood is too skinny. We all need to just, like, collectively eat a hamburger.

francene:

No, I know. But especially going into, like, I hate it. And I, like, I've tried to, like, curate my, Instagram. So I'm not seeing all like the diet stuff. But in previous years, you know, I mean, like going into the new year, people are like new year, new me, like diet, lose weight. Like it's constant. This is like the first year I've not seen it.

coryne:

I have not seen a bunch of that. I mean, you, it was Olympics everywhere, but like, I haven't, that's probably

francene:

why they're like, don't worry guys. You don't need to diet.

coryne:

And I'm like, listen, can you just not, cause ain't nobody got time.

francene:

As I immediately, today I came home and Aram was like, Did you order alcohol? Cause I had to sign for it and I was like,

coryne:

I don't

francene:

think so. It was the next, like Heath package, perfect timing. I was like, this is great.

coryne:

Here's no dry January here. Dry January, send a wine shipment out, keep those people drinking.

francene:

I know I say that and I'm staying over at my friend. So Cara, I'm staying with her on. Saturday and her and her husband are doing dry January. So I went and bought non alcoholic sparkling wine. Yeah. I'm like, well, we can sell on diet.

coryne:

Yeah. We can try and

francene:

get buzzed. We can do,

coryne:

we can do Mac deals. Oh my goodness. That's hilarious.

francene:

Okay. So season two, episode 13, the games people play, right?

coryne:

That's the one I watched, so I hope so.

francene:

Oh, and, and interesting too, cause you shared something on like Instagram literally the day after I watched this episode, and it was that Carrie being like, this whole episode is Carrie being like, oh my god, and Big did this, and Big did this, and like, who does that? How dare he?

coryne:

No, what I shared was like, it was multiple situations of them all sitting around and they were like, discussing something of substance and Miranda would say something and Charlotte would say something, Samantha would say something, and then Carrie would be like, Bigsby, me and your parents. Like, completely off subject.

francene:

There's been actually a lot of like, sex and city, like, things that have gone on. I think we're accidentally

coryne:

curating our feet. I think so, and I'm okay with it.

francene:

I'm here for it. I'm

coryne:

okay with it. Okay. The one who sent me that video of the girl who's just started watching it and she's coming in into the office. That is so good. Oh my God, yes.

francene:

I love that. Hilarious. Okay, so the episode kicks off. It's Carrie in her apartment and she's talking about like, okay. When you're out of a relationship, she's been tidying, cleaning the house and then she's like, and I've been having time to catch up with my friends. And then it shows her basically just constantly talking about big and bringing the subject back to her, no matter who she's with over the next couple of scenes, which was hilarious,

coryne:

hilarious. And I empathize with her because like, I've been there and like, you're, you know, you're friends. You're obsessed. And I'm like, I'm definitely one of those people that like talking about it is the only way for me to like process and feel better about a situation. So I get it. And it's like egregious. Like she is, it's I mean, her friends are, you can see it on their faces. Like she's, they're not even like, there's nothing else going on except for that.

francene:

And what cracked me up more. And I wrote it down. She's like, like, I was the magical moment. She's like, I was the poof in the relationship. And I was like, Oh my god. But it's so it's just so interesting because I know she just needs the validation to be like, it's it wasn't you. It was him. And yeah, but it's like, how how much do you need to be told?

coryne:

How many times well, and I mean, yeah, there's there's also like you know, you gotta also be a good friend back You know and like talk about your shit, but then be like, okay, so what's going on with you? Like yeah, like I'm

francene:

gonna talk about myself for 30 minutes and then be like, hey, how are you? Honestly my mom I can talk to her for like an hour And then at the end of the call, I'll be like, Oh, and this is what's happening and you know my life and she's like, Oh, I've got to go. I'm like, Oh, okay.

coryne:

I know your place. Sometimes she does that. Just be like, Okay, Carrie, talk to you later. No,

francene:

I know. I know. I need to start throwing in the references. Yeah. So then it shows, so each of the scenes, she's with each of the girls like separately. And then I, wherever they are, I think they're in the park. She's then talking about like the same thing again. And then when you, when it pans out, you see the girls just sitting in silence. And then I think Samantha turns and she goes, all right, who's going to tell her? And they're like, you're obsessed with talking about big, you need therapy.

coryne:

Yeah. Like we're all done. And you need therapy. I love that they have like a therapy intervention. Yeah. Like, no, bitch, it's time. It's, we've done all we can do. We're either going to start sending you bills or you should see a professional. Yeah. You

francene:

need to go see someone, but also like such a burn when Carrie's like, Oh no, I couldn't possibly go to therapy. It's so self absorbed. And then she says like, cause Miranda, I think is the one that says. Hey, you should go speak to someone like, you know, I go to therapy and she's like, no, I understand why you do. Cause you're all up in your head. Burn carry.

francene (2):

That's funny.

francene:

So then when they're like, okay, you need to go do it. There is like a, she's like thinking about it, but then she goes to see Stanford and he's like, I've got three, one when I want to be coddled one for tough love and the other one when I want to look at a beautiful man.

coryne:

Yeah. Yeah. And she's like, because you want to look at a beautiful man. And she goes, he goes, yeah, that's funny. I have the other two therapists. It's fine. Like

francene:

I just love that so much. And like, obviously we know it's, you know, not real life, but could you imagine like how much people spend, you know what I mean? Like on therapy, if it's like, weekly and like, I don't know how it was like back then if like insurance covered it or

coryne:

no insurance used to not cover it at all. And I mean, like back then I think relatively it was probably less expensive. It's like the same as getting a massage, but, You know, now, like I go to therapy all the time and I like, it's not cheap. My insurance The insurance doesn't cover mine because like I want a good therapist, not the one my insurance covers. It's pricy. Because I was like,

francene:

I was like a hundred bucks a session.

coryne:

Mine's one 80.

francene:

Oh my God. A hundred and eighty dollars?

coryne:

One 80 a session. Yes. I actually changed my insurance for this year and I'm. I would be like, I'm going

francene:

to

coryne:

keep it

francene:

for, I'd be like, Okay, we start right now.

coryne:

It's only 50 minutes. So you only get 50 minutes. I actually changed my insurance for this year so that it covers this therapist and it is more expensive, but I'll end up saving money because Yeah. Cause I know, but I love it. Like I was always like, you know, I had gone after when I was young, like in my twenties and my starter husband cheated on me, left me, I, I went like twice to therapy and I was like, fuck this. Like, I don't need this to get therapy. And then I, I hadn't gone really. I don't think ever since then, like I'm very like introspective and we'll do self help type stuff,

francene:

but

coryne:

I've never done therapy there. And then I started a couple years ago, and I think it's great.

francene:

I, I agree. I really like

coryne:

therapy.

francene:

I think everyone should do it.

coryne:

I do too. I honestly, like, I tell people all the time, like, they'll bring something up, and I'll be like, You should, like, you would, you should really get a therapist. Yeah. I'm now Miranda telling everyone, like, But

francene:

it's true, though. Like, sometimes, like, you can speak to your friends, and even, Cause I feel like I also can be pretty reflective or self aware or aware of situations, but there's just something about having a professional, especially when it's not just a situation now it's like looking back, like that's what helped me the most.

coryne:

Yeah. I mean, I feel like you know, I have like I, I can be very introspective and stuff like that, but I think it's like a different level to like, talk it through with a trained professional. I feel like it's a way to actually genuinely create new tools for like dealing with, I agree. Yeah, I agree. For sure. Your little

francene:

toolbox.

coryne:

Yes. Right. Carrie definitely is there. She's there. And the funny thing though is like, I go to therapy every other week and I still need to call my friends and like, talk through the day to day stuff. So I need both. I need the body, both people to talk to.

francene:

Yeah. And that's, what's healthy. So after this intervention, Oh, sorry. After then she speaks to Stanford and then cuts to. Miranda. Oh my God. This is like my favorite storyline. I have to admit. Yes.

coryne:

Yes. I saw it. I was like, Oh, I forgot about this. Same, same.

francene:

So meanwhile, Miranda was sitting in her apartment next to the window doing a word search. And then I think she turned Out the window and the apartment mate. So I guess the opposite side he again things that can

coryne:

only happen in New York Okay,

francene:

I know there was I know it's very close and very good. Well, I would hate that. I know blinds So he was watching her And I think he waves or something and then the first time they wave and then it happens again when she comes in from work and she's drinking a glass of wine and he waves and she's like, hi,

francene (2):

yeah,

francene:

waving a little bit back, but just pure Miranda trying to be like sexy and just the awkwardness Miranda. So more to come there later.

francene (2):

Yeah.

francene:

But then it cuts to a week later and Carrie decides to go to therapy off the back of that recommendation from Miranda. And Miranda

coryne:

apparently has referred her to like the it. Stanford knows this. The it therapist, like therapist to the stars. Like Gwyneth Paltrow. Yeah. I love he's like Oh, Gwyneth goes there and she's like, what's wrong with Gwyneth? She thinks too much of herself.

francene:

The therapist. It's like, Okay, so why are you here? Like, why did you come? And she's like, obviously Carrie true, true to form trying to bring a little bit of humor into and she's like, Oh, my friends can't handle me anymore. They tell me I talk about my ex too much. And she's like, but I think that's normal, right? And the therapist is like, I don't really like the term normal. It just seems a very awkward interaction. Yeah, that therapist

coryne:

does not give me the warm and fuzzies, for sure. Like, she's definitely, you know, I feel like that's what we all perceived therapy to be. And it's not like that at

francene:

all.

coryne:

You know, in like late 2000s, early or late 2000s. 1990s, early 2000s. Like that is what everybody was afraid therapy was going to be like. And they're definitely like, and maybe it was back then, but they're like playing into that of like, she's super, she's shrinking you, you know?

francene:

Yes. And also it just feels like a little bit judgy.

coryne:

Yeah, mm hmm. It's like whatever she says and then she says she's like, you know

francene:

notes.

coryne:

Yes, and she's like, so what you know What's why are they sick of you or something like that? And she's like, you know Brings up it's about her ex and she's like, you know, he was playing all these games and she's like So you were playing games and she's like not me not me like she's like immediately defensive about everything. She's saying

francene:

yes which, which again is interesting. And then I think the therapist says at the end, well, maybe you're picking the wrong guys. And then it cuts to like Carrie with the girls being like, like, I don't need to go to therapy for someone to like, tell me that. But then they start discussing like game playing, which then. Links into the title,

coryne:

but I also feel like I never thought big was playing games

francene:

See, I don't think so either. I mean, I know we spoke about this before but like Their breakup and how he acted when you look at the last couple of seasons for me I feel like it felt a little bit out of character Because I just don't think he came across as a dick or inconsiderate and yes work comes first and I appreciate like the business element But He, he was so blasé about like, well, I might just move to Paris.

francene (2):

I

francene:

just don't know if I truly believe that's how he would have acted, but I appreciate his TV show. But yeah, I, I don't think he was playing games, but then when you see some of her behavior, like I see it.

coryne:

Yeah. I see it from her. But yeah, I never really, I never thought that of him. I mean, he is, you know, big, definitely is emotionally unavailable.

francene:

Yeah.

coryne:

You know, but I don't think that that's a game he's playing. I think that's his own, you know, bullshit that he needs to deal with that he's obviously not working through, you know, so that, I mean. But yeah, I don't see that as him, which is so that's why I thought it was so funny. I was like, I love that she is basically summed up their relationship and she's decided that he is a game player.

francene:

Yeah, I know. I also loved, did you notice she's wearing like the playboy necklace? No, I did not. Very like Y2K.

coryne:

Y2K of her, yeah. Hey! Live on our pod, go away. My daughter's breaking in on us. Live on the pod. She should be asleep and she's not.

francene:

Do you think she heard the, the Wicked singing?

coryne:

Yep.

francene:

And then. Yes. And then. The girls are all like chit chatting about game playing, and I love that Samantha says that the only place you can control a man is in bed.

coryne:

Yeah, she's like, we were giving non stop blowjobs, we'd run the world, and I'm like, wait for it, Samantha, girl. Wait, we gonna do that anyway, girl, wait for it! Yeah, let's go in! I never thought that Charlotte was so empowered in this scene. scene, like the things that she was saying and just like the way she was walking in that red dress. Like she seemed so Samantha, like she was like very strong and like in her power about like you have to play games and games aren't a bad thing. And like they're fun. What did she say? They're like fun. If you understand the rules or something like that, which

francene:

are interesting from Charlotte, right? Right.

coryne:

Yeah. Right. And that was kind of like out of, I was like, where is this coming from, Charlotte?

francene:

When did you start playing games, Miss Charlotte?

coryne:

And who are we playing with, Char? Tell us the truth. What's going on? Which again,

francene:

we've commented, she's the one that's typically with the guys.

coryne:

Yeah. Funny too, in that scene, when Charlotte's being like so empowered and like saying all that, Miranda like peeks her head around and she's like, and that's why you should be in therapy too. Yes,

francene:

I do appreciate it. And then also Miranda's viewpoint on this is how immature it is. For anyone to be kind of playing games in a relationship. And then they're like, where did all the great guys go? And then it cuts to them at happy hour. What did they say? Happy hour in the Valley of Lost Men. Sports night. And they go to like a bar bar.

coryne:

They're all dressed up and they like walk into this bar that they obviously had planned to go to. I know I can't. And it's, it's sports night. So it's like covered, nothing but men in there. And I'm like, but wait, if they, what was it like if it's not sports night, because this does not look like a them kind of place to hang out. But I

francene:

wonder, I wonder, because again, it cuts to like the title and theme of,

francene (2):

you

francene:

know, the sports piece. But I also wonder if maybe Carrie was like writing an article because I don't think it cuts to her. Oh, sorry. It does actually in the next scene. Damn it. But I was just thinking, I was like, maybe it's something to do with an article and she drags the girls with her. But

coryne:

they were all surprised that it was, that it was a sports night. I know. I just

francene:

couldn't imagine seeing them there, but highlight the women drink for free.

coryne:

Yeah, they like sit down and immediately serve them beers. And they're like, we didn't order. And they're like, Oh, no, women drink for free. And I was like, that's hilarious that that I can you think of the last time you went somewhere that had like a, like dollar night or women? I don't think I've ever been anywhere. There were women drink for free, but I love it.

francene:

I think we have, but more like in the UK when I was younger.

coryne:

Yeah.

francene:

But it would be more because they're trying to get women in, which then obviously, which brings guys in this bar.

coryne:

Yeah, this is, that's what this bar is up to is their trying. But

francene:

it was very sportsy and it didn't seem like, to be honest, the guys in there were interested'cause they're there to watch a game. Like they were all very into whatever sport was on.

coryne:

Well, in Cut 2, they sit down, they get a beer, it takes five whole seconds for Samantha to like, make eyes with some dude, and she's off. Immediately.

francene:

She's like, okay girls, I'll see you later, but I will say, he's a gray fox.

coryne:

He is a gray fox, for sure. I remember this dude, like, I remember Tim as soon as he like, locked eyes with her, I was like, oh yes, there's that guy. I also love that she slides on the floor. She takes her jacket off because she, you know, she wants to show it off. And she slides into the booth and that nice white jacket just hits the floor. And she slides out and nobody, they just leave it like,

francene:

They're like, don't touch it.

coryne:

It's fine. It's fine.

francene:

As she's like sitting next to him. What made me laugh is when he's yelling out at sports, she like gets a scare, but she's also turned on by this madness. Cause she's like She thinks about how you would be in the bedroom and then, of course, it cuts to them in the bedroom. Right. That's where it goes. Having fun.

francene (2):

Very quickly. But

francene:

you know, I do have, and I'm generalizing for a second. I do have a comment on this. Isn't it so annoying when sport is in the background? And like, I'm having a conversation with, say, like a group of guys or like Aaron and his friends or whatever. And like something will happen like from a play and they're immediately like, Ryan Fitzpatrick. He's like on the floor. This happened or Kelsey. And you're like, Oh my God, I was like talking, you know what I mean? And it's like the most ridiculous fucking play.

coryne:

Well, that's true of a lot of sports ball. And I think that like the, the, The truth is, is like, they're never really listening to you when you're talking about the

francene:

game

coryne:

and you're

francene:

like, I'm like, hey guys, guess this fun fact. Fun

francene (2):

fact.

francene:

But I'm like, hello? Yeah, they're

coryne:

fully like, focused in on that and you're just like, you're, you're the filler until something else happens in the game. And you're like,

francene:

oh,

coryne:

the game.

francene:

That's the only thing about Super Bowl, I thrive at halftime. Outside of that, not interested.

coryne:

I am Super Bowl. I'm here for the commercials in the halftime show. Yeah. Like that's

francene:

Yeah. I'm here for the Agile show.

coryne:

Yeah. I mean, unless it's like happens to be a team that I do like, but that hardly ever happens'cause I'm a Cowboys fan, so

francene:

Well I say that as I'm wearing the cheese. Well you're,

coryne:

but let's be honest, that's not'cause you're a fan of that team. It's'cause you like Taylor, fan of T Swift.

francene:

Yeah, yeah, exactly. I'm just supporting her boyfriend.

coryne:

Right. That's it. It was just a extension of Taylor. I love that.

francene:

So then it cuts to Carrie's writing our article and she says, was there such a thing as an honest relationship or do we need to play games? And then it fucking cuts to interviews again.

coryne:

I know. How are we over this? I was like, man, we are, they really, they really did not want to let go of the, the side interviews with random people in this, this show. Like, do it

francene:

again.

coryne:

Yeah. And I

francene:

didn't even note anything down because I was like, it was just a waste.

coryne:

Yeah, it was a dude and a girl. Yeah, it was nothing, nothing of note for sure.

francene:

Not at all.

coryne:

Don't we cut back to her second appointment with Dr. G? Yes. Oh, and the cameo that's coming.

francene:

Oh my God. Yes. And I will say, and I know I commented on like her playboy necklace, but her outfits in this episode are so 2000 and like, Oh, she just looks amazing. I'm like her hair color. Everything is like, this is where she really loves it.

coryne:

Yeah. Fashion really starts to turn for sure.

francene:

And then who, who walks in?

coryne:

She's sitting in the waiting room. like, like, wanting to go into her therapy appointment and that which this is not how therapy offices are set up. So this is a faux pa. But maybe they are in New York cause they don't have enough space, but the exit door opens from Dr. G's office and John Bon Jovi cameo. It looks beautiful. I loved this era of him where he was still really young and he had his hair short. Yeah. So good looking. Yeah. And he like gives eyes and she does too. And he's like, hi. And she's like, hi. And then he walks out like nothing. And then I love that they immediately cut to third session with Dr. G. She's back and she's dressed to the freaking, oh,

francene:

she looks incredible.

coryne:

Adorable. Like low cut floral. Very stunning. Very feminine dress. Stunning like she is all the way dressed up. In anticipation that she's going to run into this guy again.

francene:

Yeah, I do love it. I feel like that's something I would do.

coryne:

Yeah, yeah, totally, totally. You're like,

francene:

wait, do we time this right? And I think she goes like extra early.

coryne:

She says, she's like, I got here extra early to catch up on my reading.

francene:

Reading all the old magazines from like two years ago.

coryne:

Yeah, and he, so he comes out, they notices her, he introduces himself, they have like a short exchange, and he asks her to dinner like immediately.

francene:

Yeah, because he says he just hit his one anniversary she accepts a dinner invite, and his name is Seth Robinson, and he's a photographer.

coryne:

Yeah, he hands her, he's got like a single card in his back pocket, which I love the unrealisticness of that. So he gives her a card, and he's like, Call me and he's a photographer and she is the dress has worked. She's got a dinner date.

francene:

I also love to. So then I think the therapist says, okay, Carrie, come through. And then when Carrie sits down, she goes, Oh, You dress up more than normal

coryne:

She totally notices that. She's like super dressed up.

francene:

Love that. I'm like, she knows.

coryne:

Yeah.

francene:

So now Samantha is at Carrie's apartment and they're watching sports, which like Samantha is getting so into it and carrie's like, whoa, what is going on? And Samantha's like, well if the Knicks win'cause they're watching basketball, then she gets laid. And she's like, and it's worth it because the sex is unbelievable.

coryne:

And she's like, and we're both on a losing streak. Like, I guess the Knicks have not been playing well. And so she's, she's like super like into it because she wants them to win so she can win. Curiously, what are we doing right now? Like, I know I

francene:

just can't, I can't imagine it. And then the Knicks win and immediately Samantha's like, gotta go.

coryne:

Carrie's like, go, go, go have sex, go.

francene:

And then it cuts back to, so we mentioned about Miranda in her apartment with her little apartment mate across the road. She, what did she say? She gets a surprise when I think she's in like her dressing robe or something and he's looking out the window and they're like eyeing each other up and he turns and shows his bum.

francene (2):

And

francene:

then she shows like her, she just pulls like her robe just to display one boob.

francene (2):

But she

coryne:

just doesn't like, she doesn't chant. That dude is so good looking. And like, she, yeah, and that robe thing that she's wearing, it's like a kimono or something. Yeah,

francene:

that's it.

coryne:

And again, Miranda, red is not your color, okay?

francene:

Yeah, yeah, it's very clashy. So, yeah, they have their little exchange, and Miranda is feeling it, the little peekaboo.

coryne:

Yeah, she's into it, for sure, totally into it.

francene:

So then it cuts to Carrie having dinner with Seth Robinson and then they're joking back and forth about the therapist. And what I did write down, they would be a beautiful couple.

coryne:

They would, and this outfit that she has on is such a choice for a first date. Yeah. What that, like a royal blue bra top, but not what, not a bra top. It's like a halter top kind of thing. And then she's got on primary Canary bird, yellow shorts with it. And like, you know, like her stomach, I mean, I would too, if I would look like that, her stomach and heels, of course, heels. Always feels.

francene:

Oh, yeah. Like,

coryne:

yeah,

francene:

again, isn't it? So 2000s it

coryne:

is like it just

francene:

feels like this is the episode where Like they've been creeping up on like the fashion pieces, but mainly that what do you call it? The fur jacket, whereas now I'm like, Oh, this is it. This is where we get into

coryne:

the stylist must be the era. It must've gotten the right connects at this point.

francene:

Oh yeah. Cause wasn't the stylist Oh my God. What was the name of that woman? I wonder when she started on the show.

coryne:

Let's see who was then

francene:

that became a staple and then. Sarah Jessica Parker would then only work with her.

coryne:

Yeah, Patricia Field. Yes. Costume designer. I might be wrong.

francene:

I'd be interested if she started around this time.

coryne:

I wonder. Yeah, her work. Let's see. Field. Oh, she, she does. Ha! They've got her on in just like that.

francene:

Yeah, that's right because I think that was part of the deal Sarah. Yeah.

coryne:

Yeah. I wonder when she started I don't see that readily available, but I'm guessing that I

francene:

pray it season two only to just go with my theory

coryne:

Yeah, I'm thinking she must have started in. Let's see. When did Patricia Field? start on sex in the city Oh, no, she started in the beginning. Oh, damn it. She must have, like, something happened. She obviously fucked up. Oh, she got better. Yeah, for sure.

francene:

Good for her for doing better in her job.

coryne:

Yeah.

francene:

We approve.

coryne:

Yeah, we love what you're doing here. Yeah, we

francene:

love it. We love it, like, 20 years later. So then at the dinner, one of the things I do appreciate Okay. Okay. Okay. That I know Carrie is not good at that we've seen in the past is she admits to him. She's like, Hey, I like you. And he's like, I like you too. And I love that. I love that honesty. Clearly therapy's kind of working and they have that little moment, which is nice.

coryne:

Yeah, and then she takes him back to her place. Cardinal mistake, Carrie. Don't do that.

francene:

I know. So then, before then, we cut back to Miranda and I died at this moment. God, this kills me. I feel like, this is me. I know I'm Miranda in real life. I know it. So, Miranda's food shopping. And then she notices her peekaboo neighbor out in the wild. So she's running around like following him and looking like such an awkward person. And I have to admit, I do like her outfit in the scene. And he looks really different. He looked way hard, like from the window, from afar, in my opinion.

coryne:

Yeah, I'm sure he did.

francene:

And then she bumps into him and she's like, Oh, hi. I'm your like peekaboo neighbor. And he's like, what the fuck? He looks at her like he's never seen her before. And then she continues saying it. And she's like, you know, the one and like, she does the action on like, she showed her.

coryne:

I'm like, Oh my God. Yeah, you live above the guy I've been flirting with. I,

francene:

oh my god, when he said that and she immediately, like, I do love this about Miranda and she did this in a previous episode where she saw her ex and she just ran away. She literally, like, reverted back and just ran. Considering she's like a lawyer and stuff, I just love, like, the personal tension she can't, but clearly professional, she would, like, eat him.

coryne:

Poor girl. Like poor thing. That's so embarrassing. And then again, this may be only in New York. That could only accidentally happen in New York. Yeah. You have no clue if they're trolling you or the person right below you.

francene:

Yeah. How would you know?

coryne:

You wouldn't know. Yeah. You like hilarious and like that they saw each other in real life. Oh my God.

francene:

I felt third, third awkward.

coryne:

So awkward for her.

francene:

Yeah. Very much so. And I also wonder, like, do you think, like, she would ever tell the girls about stuff like that?

coryne:

Oh, I know. She probably would. She tells them everything. But, like, that's so embarrassing. I was so embarrassed for her. Poor thing. Poor, poor thing.

francene:

It's like, you know when someone like, waves, and like, I always wave back and then you're like, Oh, I don't know you and you weren't waving to me. I do that all the time.

coryne:

I've done it too. Like, if they're looking at me, I'm like, Oh, hey. Oh, no. Yeah. Got it. Got it. Cool. I bet. I did we see the scene yet where Samantha goes over to the dude's house? Or is that coming?

francene:

It is next. Samantha is watching the finals Knicks game with Dawn.

coryne:

She already went over the night they won when she was at Carrie's. We didn't get to see that. I just don't

francene:

think it caught to it. No. I don't

coryne:

either. So she's over there for another game and it's the final game of the season. And the monologue is saying that she's excited that yeah, she's like, her sex life isn't just going to be in response to the Knicks. Yeah.

francene:

Yeah. And I love like immediately after the game, he like switches over the remote and she like goes to like kiss him and stuff. And he's like, whoa, whoa, whoa, the Nets are playing Chicago. And she's like, Oh, fuck. Fuck no. Immediately grabs her bag and just leaves.

coryne:

Yeah. Apparently it was like his next favorite team. And he says, he's like, now that the Knicks are done, I can really focus on this dude. She's like I can't, I can't, I can't get into a whole nother season of whatever you're into. Cause

francene:

baseball, that's long. That's a lot of games.

coryne:

Year round. Like it never. Like

francene:

180 games or something.

coryne:

It's a lot. I don't know offhand, but it's a lot. My best friend started dating a guy over the summer who's wonderful. He's a great guy, but he's very into sports. And she calls it the sports ball because he's into all of it. Like football, basketball, all the things, all the ball. This, this episode was making me think of her and him because she is definitely like had to like, I don't know. You know, learn to at least, like, work around his need to be constantly watching.

francene:

Oh,

coryne:

God.

francene:

Yeah, it's, it's a lot.

coryne:

I mean like, you know, I have somebody who's like really been into like Astros baseball before, like very big fan and like I can get into like football, but it's funny too that like I've been in a season of my life for like the last, like almost four years where like, I don't watch any of that. Currently, which is fun.

francene:

Yeah, I don't really watch it. Like Aaron will have it like sometimes I would say more in the background. Like if he's having a beer and like the guys are over and I'm okay with that, but I feel I would struggle if he's like religiously like the games on. We have to watch this. I. I would hate

coryne:

that you guys were big basketball fans for a while, like y'all. That's true.

francene:

But like in person, we went to like, well, yeah, James Harden, love James Harden. But we went to like every game, every game, but it was fun. Whereas like basketball is not as fun to watch on TV.

coryne:

No live sports in general is so much. Fun versus any, any of it watched on TV, but yeah, I, I think mine too, like I used to love to have the games on in the background, like, you know, on Saturdays, Sundays, like I, I don't have a table, so I never get to watch live stuff. And I think that it's just like, I'm unbothered by it.

francene:

I know. I don't even know how we get it.

coryne:

Erin does. Yeah, I guess.

francene:

Cause I'm like, yeah, we don't pay for it either. I don't know. You can

coryne:

pay for like some of the app based things. I think we

francene:

have that like outside.

coryne:

Yeah, I downloaded, or I added, I think it was ESPN over Thanksgiving so I could watch the A& M game. Cause you know.

francene:

Oh yeah. They won, right?

coryne:

No, they did not win. It was the first time we played ut in like years because they Oh, that's

francene:

right. That's right. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. We did watch, I made sure I watch, watch that one.

coryne:

Mm-hmm Yeah.

francene:

Okay, so then it cuts to, so Samantha leaves and then it cuts to, okay, so now we're back at Carrie's apartment. John Bonjovi is in her house. See the Fendi bar? The Fendi bag.

coryne:

Yeah. First

francene:

time we see the baguette, right?

coryne:

Yeah. That's a good one.

francene:

Beautiful.

coryne:

Yeah.

francene:

So they're kissing. She looks amazing. Oh. And what I love about this is then they go to play Twister.

coryne:

Yeah.

francene:

Well, I love that. Previously

coryne:

in the episode where she's writing her article about the games we play and she goes to this bookcase in her house and she just like touches this stack of games. Yeah. I love that she's

francene:

And

coryne:

then they brought it down full circle because they're back at her apartment and he notices the stack of games. He's like, Oh, you have all the classics. And he's like, I was the twister champion, champion in seventh grade. And she's like, is that a challenge? It's like, yeah. And so they whip out twister and they're going to play twister. And they are playing like pre foreplay. Yeah. Yeah. Cute. Adorable. It's so funny. I cross in, we have Twister and Oak holidays. She's like, let's play Twister. And we did. And that kid, listen, she was not prepared for mom to be that good at Twister. Okay.

francene:

She's like, damn it, mom.

coryne:

I know I've beat her like, like within like four moves. I would have her every time.

francene:

I know. I feel like shaking. It's when my leg is like over here and I'm like, I, I literally can't, I have no flexibility. Yeah. Like, they make this scene super hot. Had that been me, I'd be like,

coryne:

sorry. Yeah, exactly. No, they do it so, of course, like, it's like a cute, fun, like, sexy game of Twister. That's not what, Twister's my butt's in your face, and I'm trying, like, it's, it's not. Also, I'm

francene:

literally trying to win.

coryne:

For real, like, don't play with me. For real. But of course, Carrie ends up in like an extremely compromising position with him like basically in between her legs within like, you know, I

francene:

do love that. I did. I did love like how they did that. And then she Wait, what is it? So then they start making out, and then, what did I write? She asked him, oh yeah, yeah, so then, I think maybe the next morning, or, Yeah, well, I don't think

coryne:

it was the next morning, it seemed like, Was

francene:

this the same evening? Yeah, they obviously, It was after they, Did they did

coryne:

it? Yeah, and and they're like laying in bed and she's like being all cute and stuff like that. And then she asks him, she's like, so why did you start going to see Dr. G? Oh, and the line delivery on this just ice cold. He's like, Oh, because I completely lose interest in women as soon as I have sex with them. I can't. How shit would you feel at that point? Holy shit. First of all, I would not be able to control my face. I would have been like, what? Could you have mentioned that, like, 30 minutes ago?

francene:

Like, oh, I just can't imagine how, like, deflated you'd be.

coryne:

Oh, and she immediately rolls over onto her back and he's like, why did you? And she's like, cause I picked the wrong men. And it's like, Oh, like that. Yeah. The thing is, I will say about this too. It's so funny. Cause I saw it was I watched this great movie that had, you know, that CNN can comic, Eliza Schleslinger, blonde, love her movie, old movie of hers that she wrote. That was called good on paper and she touches on this a little bit in it, but she said at one point She's like, why do we keep telling women that they pick the wrong men when the reality is? There are a lot of men who are really fucked up out there and who like treat women poorly and I was like Yeah Yes. Yeah. Like, yes. Can we stop saying it's on us? Like, could y'all be fucking better like that? A hundred

francene:

percent. Especially knowing how so many people at the beginning of a relationship exactly like they gaslight when they, yeah. A hundred percent gaslighting that the best

coryne:

version of themselves shows up and they, they pretend to be something that they really aren't. And then as soon as you're into them, like, oh, guess what? That's not really who you like. But that, that's the thing that I felt bad for carrying that scene is because like you met the dude. At a therapist's office. So obviously he's like in touch with his emotions and ability, has the ability to like, want to be better. Like you would think those would all be green flags. No, he's, he's a, just a regular old dickhead.

francene:

It's the worst. It's just that realization. And he's like, what are you in for? I picked their own man and I'm like dying and then it I think the the voiceover is she stops therapy immediately

coryne:

Yeah, she couldn't She couldn't risk running into him again. So she's just like done and she's back to like cleaning up her apartment Yeah, like she's doing that. Yeah, it was a short

francene:

month.

coryne:

Yeah Her friends are like, fuck, we got to talk about this shit again.

francene:

So the next episode, season two, episode 14 is called the fuck buddy. Guess who's back. Oh,

coryne:

hold on.

francene:

Only cause I just skipped ahead and I forgot. Skippy. Yes. Like

francene (2):

little,

francene:

like come back and give us a little appearance.

coryne:

You know, what's crazy in this episode, we just watched Charlotte was in like one scene.

francene:

Yeah, she wasn't in that much. No, there

coryne:

was like no

francene:

Charlotte. Yeah, you're right.

coryne:

Yeah.

francene:

Literally.

coryne:

Mm mm.

francene:

She was in that couple scenes at the beginning and that's it.

coryne:

She was just with the girls in like two scenes and there was no independent Charlotte storyline going on. So I'm gonna expect a lot from her next episode is what I'm saying.

francene:

Oh yeah, maybe. But yeah, good episode.

coryne:

Yeah, that was a good one for sure.

francene:

And then,

coryne:

every Tuesday!
