Welcome back to the quarter mile podcast.
We are done with the Riddick series.
And we're not done with Vin Diesel yet.
No, if you're here, we're here to talk about a man apart.
Speaking of men, apart, we couldn't keep this man apart from us for too long.
What a great chance.
I've had all week to think of it.
There's all downhill from here.
Of course, I'm Drew Davis, one of your hosts.
I'm joined as Alys with one of the most amazing hosts in the work.
Her Instagram handle literally used to be something about being a host.
I was. It was natural from your host's, but it is now your girl CJ Walton.
That's what you know me as.
What's up, you girl CJ Walton.
How are you Drew?
That's what I'm singing to you.
I love it. I'm so good.
I feel like I'm a musical.
Also speaking of musicals, we are joined again by a wonderful guest, Leonardo Schwarz-Hopper.
Is he that wonderful?
I'm a singer.
Close to you will never find.
[Laughter]
A life skater, they were white.
[Laughter]
I like my.
I'm like, "I like it!"
This is because I'm a few times a creek.
I'm a musical episode.
It is.
Listen, if you guys don't, if you maybe you haven't seen Renard yet, he appeared on one of our
bonus episodes not too long ago.
He's everything.
He is, we did a fast and furious interview with him.
We just got to chat fast and furious.
And it was, it was a lot of fun.
And now we have a kind of a subscriber option.
So if you want to get our bonus episodes or extra stuff, check it out for $3 or more if you feel like it was $3 or more than $3.
You can listen to Renard talk about fast and furious, which that's your money's worth.
$3.
I'll talk about whatever.
Absolutely.
Yeah, you just give us a $3 bill and tell us what you want to talk about.
Is there a $3 bill?
No, there is absolutely not.
I would love it.
But you know what?
Who knows?
There is a $2 bill.
I have a $2 bill right now.
Why was that a thing that everyone was collecting for some?
I also have a tip.
Because they said that they were going to go out of production but the thing was people kept hoarding them.
So like if you go to any old person, nine times out of ten, they're going to have a $2 bill.
But I have like three of them right now.
Yeah, you have a good $6.
A $6?
What's up?
Well, hoax?
On the $2 bill.
I have to go on my personal look.
I don't even know the president.
You carry it on your own.
Is it John Adams?
I don't know.
There's supposed to be good look or something.
I don't think so.
I think you should know it's a better look, $50.
A $50.
Like $50.
And then like $50.
You know what's even better look?
Yeah, they were getting better.
That's even better.
Well, let's do a quick check in.
We're going to start with you.
How's life been since the last time with Alia?
Oh, life has been great.
We're doing good things.
We're telling jokes.
We're just got back from Birmingham and needed to the ATA.
So this week.
Oh, that'll be great.
We have a new little--
Yes, we do.
Right now.
What flavor is it?
You all have to guess.
I'm going to guess it's tilted so I can see the color of the frosting.
So it's brown.
I'm going to guess it's tiramisu.
Okay.
What do you guess?
Overlaughty.
It is not.
It is lemon, meringue, white, meringue.
Also for our online listeners.
I mean, the listeners.
This is a cupcake where to describe it.
Oh, that's right.
Shout out to cupcake collection.
This one came from the German town.
Shout out to Min-Wah, Min-Yan.
I said Min-Wah, Min-Yan.
If you've never been a cupcake collection,
you need to go right now.
Right now.
Cancel whatever's going on.
Get your cakes there.
They even do cupcakes.
And they also do gluten-free and vegan.
Do you ever just get a cupcake and eat it and tell them you have a dog?
Oh, so I'll just say get home.
I'm not going to say I have not,
but I'm not going to say I have not thought about it.
Okay, great.
So I'm not going to say I have not thought about it.
Every time I see someone get a pup cup at a coffee shop,
I think of myself.
Hey, could you use a pup?
I could use a pup.
So we're going to taste this a little bit later to see what it tastes like.
That's our new thing.
Do you want to taste it now or what?
I hate for you to, you know,
yeah, I'm going to see what it's.
Also for anyone that we're reviewing a man apart eventually,
but right now we're reviewing this cup.
Oh my god.
What the?
That was a.
That was a good,
just a little reaction.
She's done.
She said she's in a sugar cone.
Okay.
Yeah.
We're going to let her take her now.
Are you doing CJ?
I am in a moment.
Yeah.
I'm so happy right now.
Like, if you if you.
Is that a new flavor?
Yeah.
This is the new.
The limited flavor because they have Snicker Doodle.
And if you remember, I had like seven orgasms at once because that's what that was all the time.
That's like the way I say it is.
If you haven't had seven then you're not like at one time.
Like that's what this cupcake tastes like.
So that's out the cup.
I'm going to save it.
They're new.
That new, the new name of that cupcake is the seven orgasm cupcake.
Yeah.
So if anybody is suffering from ED, get a cup.
Get this cupcake.
Your back.
In fact, right on top.
I've got.
You know, this is the,
this is the most,
this is the best and weirdest intro to an episode.
Oh, because it's the man of part.
It's the man of part.
Yeah.
We want to start.
What it starts?
So, um, well,
uh,
before we get into it,
you already know.
Find us on all the social media things.
Check us out.
Drop.
We drop.
We asked for your opinions every Tuesdays for movies.
We love hearing from you.
Uh, we also have a, uh,
if you in the fan message,
fan mail section,
if you want to drop what movie you'd like to recommend.
I'm, uh, by the end of the season,
we're doing two people's choice movies.
So we'd love, uh,
we'd love to hear what you want us to do.
Some new genres are going to come out.
Yeah.
So lots of lots of exciting stuff happening.
And, uh,
uh, just a, a, a gentle plug for the other podcast that I produce
called Living Through the Shift,
uh, with Tiffany Harris.
She's a comedian.
It's a, uh, podcast about, uh,
her caretaker journey, caretaker, caregiver, caregiver.
Caregiver, caretaker.
No, no, she's a,
she would be,
I've got her caretaker or caregiver.
Well, I think caretaker is like lawns and,
and, and,
so I caregiver, so she would be, yeah,
for, for clarification,
it's a caregiver podcast,
unless she also starts talking about her, her, her,
her biology or something,
you know, she's an amazing person.
Anyway, she's wonderful.
It's a great podcast.
Check it out.
Um, without further ado,
let's get into a man apart.
Right.
Let's, I think I,
the phrase, let's,
let's get some action.
That way in the actions,
we're all here.
Get some action.
I like that.
Man apart, uh, came out in 2003.
Here's an interesting play.
So the movie came out in 2003.
They finished filming it in 2001,
but they held off on releasing it
because they had a pretty good feeling
that fast and furious.
The first one,
n triple X, we're going to be successful.
So they were like,
let's wait for Vin Diesel to be a bigger star
before we drop it.
So it actually came out in 2003.
It cost, uh,
thirty, uh, six million dollars to make.
And I like how you did this in the last week.
So we're going to do it again.
Okay.
How much do you get?
So it cost them thirty,
six million.
How much do you think they made?
I'm, you go first.
I'm gonna say 20.
You don't want to,
you only think they made 20?
Okay.
I'm going with
20 50 to 70.
Okay.
So, um, it was 44 million.
Is how much am I?
But here's the,
the ballpark.
How much was it to make?
Uh, so it was 36.
Okay.
And it made 44.
Now what's interesting though is,
um, that's counting domestic and overseas.
So they actually made a lot more,
are they made more from it?
A little more from it overseas,
but domestic, I think they only made like 17,
or 17 million.
So, uh, so our cast obviously Vin Diesel.
Uh, we have,
well, we,
we're just rocking it within diesel movies next week.
We're, we're going into triple X.
We'll eventually cover other actors,
but like,
we're,
we're rocking the diesel verse right now.
Yeah, the diesel verse.
Yeah, that's like that.
So Vin Diesel played Sean,
uh, Sean veteran,
Timothy,
often,
how do I say his name?
Uh,
all of them.
All of them.
All of them.
He played Hollywood Jack.
Yeah.
Uh, Lawrence Tate played.
Lorenz.
Uh, Lorenz Tate.
Thank you.
I don't know why I don't learn these things.
Right.
Lorenz Tate played Demetrius Hicks.
My husband.
Gina Silva.
Uh,
it's like,
that's it.
Correct.
Yeah.
Uh,
all right.
One out of, uh,
uh,
uh, Mimo Luccaro.
Yeah.
And Jacqueline,
uh,
um,
um,
um,
so, uh, my question for you guys is like,
who do you think had the best performance of the, uh,
like which one of those,
which actor do you think did, did the best?
Uh,
the actor that you failed to mention, uh,
which was Karin Stephens.
She won.
That won.
Oh my god.
You, you, you,
you,
she won in the next,
huh?
Where she won in the,
the,
I need to get,
I need to get off of this podcast.
Superhead.
You need to get off of this podcast right now because I was looking at that woman,
and I'm like,
I think she was.
There's woman.
I know her.
So what he did.
Oh,
the girl was beautiful in the mood.
She was,
she honestly did back the game.
Yeah.
She made the move.
She, she, she's the movie.
That was the best part.
She's being a,
okay, so,
Rennar just gets,
oh my god.
This whole time I did not know that was superhead.
I'm looking at this one.
I'm going back and look
so I read Korean Steffi's book several years back.
Okay.
She talked,
she talked about her making,
uh,
being in the role in the,
because,
who directed it was,
it was,
uh,
F Scott.
I actually,
this is the one time I get right.
I never did it.
Hold on,
because I want to say it's,
because she talked about that in her book.
How she,
she,
she got that role in,
uh,
man apart.
Now,
what?
That's all I had to go back and pull it up.
I was like,
I'm not ugly.
Let's start then.
She's not an ugly woman.
But the fact is she carried herself like an actor.
That's what was cool.
Like,
I didn't,
I didn't know that matter.
I just wanted to see the smile.
And that was,
there we go.
Man apart.
Comedy connection,
Korean Steffins had dated Bill Marr before,
they were married.
I did not know that,
but,
I do think they dated.
Okay.
Yeah.
I don't,
I don't think they were married enough.
I need to do a deeper dive on her,
because I,
I saw her in this movie,
she looked familiar,
and I did,
I vaguely looked into stuff,
and then I just stopped,
but I feel like,
you don't need to do that, did it?
Right.
Enjoy that deep dive.
Yeah, I was like,
if you,
you're going to be like,
I'm so sorry.
I'm going to be like,
why is your right hand so big?
Yeah.
I'm going to,
she is a very talented woman.
Drew, your arm is,
your arm is really strong.
She's a bit strong.
You can have it a great week.
Anyway.
She taught me a lot.
I explained.
But I,
she had to hurt her,
but the books she put out was amazing.
And her,
she was acting,
uh,
she's,
thinking this was great.
No, not in this.
And some other things I've seen
was,
in fact,
second time,
but I'm,
she's a porn star,
isn't she?
Yeah.
Okay.
And that's the way,
the way,
if you're watching this,
Renard Comedy.gov,
feel free to do that.
I'm already realize that,
the last time you hear,
we,
we got a fun of porn,
do we?
porn like,
what is going on?
Like,
it's like,
it's like,
Right? Yeah, surprise he wasn't higher up on the list of actors. Yeah. You see what?
But they'll have one probably Big Sexy big sexy Gary. Gary. You were right very great. Yeah. Also
Directed fast and fear seven. Yep. Gary grade. I think so. Yeah
Videos like that in the best period seven, yeah. Yeah, we do Friday. Yeah. I'm all about in citizen the Italian job
Manning black straight out of comp. Oh, I'll set it off Friday the fact the fight
He did the fate of the few reason we did not cover that. Oh, oh, well, well you didn't cover it
Listen little missy
I'm cast existing before you
It's not weird that I'm selling to a confrontation that I said my stomach is trying to
Live in a little movie
Yeah, yeah, probably big sexy big sexy, but we're self identifying and identifying a shame he had
To do cry I like that about him
Get it. No, he just says big sex
Here I don't know, but he had a big shame name
And then they said his name several times they did shootouts even the D. A. New is name
The D. A. even the D. A. was like big sexy. I need you to leave me
I mean that man was an old school
Followed on the earth criminal like like back to a restaurant like anyone else tell him big sexy was here
I think that I respect that that's exactly what he was wrong. Oh,
Run of the meal
Traditional we're gonna do an AI plot somewhere. We're not gonna read it for us
Are you gonna read this in in in the voice are you gonna read this in the renore boy?
So so you could read it as an indeed this one was written just as whatever
But if you want to give us your best in diesel and more than welcome, I don't know. I would love to hear the
You do it then diesel plays the it's on better
Because when you need just a served with diesel powered enforcement
After years of busting cartels with this trusty partner the bad guys finally take things too personal and leave him with a tragic loss
That's when better decides
It's time to stop playing good cop and go full on one man army mode
Better sets his sights on the mysterious drug lord known as Diablo
Because if it's you're running an evil empire you need a name the screams villainy
Villainy is a what but tracking down
Diablo is in a simple task is like trying to find a needle in a
Hastag and set the hastag is full of automatic weapons
betrayals and
Explosions
Family on what cheer rage
Veteran box on a test. Dostorone fuel quest for revenge
Everything explodes at the at the right moment
people talking deep rough voices
And justice is delivered with the force of an uppercut from vandizzo himself
The bad guys better hope that gateway cars have fast and furious engines
Because when better comes knocking there are no safe parts in a man apart
Will this fly?
pistol eyes and diesel reminds us all that family is everything
Even when things go south if you're looking for high-octane action with enough grit to sand down a steel beam
This one's got you comfort and he lets you know
And if you think you big time you're not a time comedians move
Metrics months I'm ever saying that on the trailer now. Oh, okay. That got I got to see this absolutely
Oh my god, right
Vin Diesel ad C. J. I'm so glad we got to hear that because it sounds like Vin Diesel himself would write that and still
So
First and I love that. Oh my god. So so I got some um I got some movie reviews here. I and I I got some trivia for you too
Well, I love trivia. Let's go. We'll do. How do you move your reviews first in trivia?
I
I found the bad ones first because those were my favorite to read, but then I was like let's be positive
I found some good ones too, so so this horse one's titled a man of art
The aesthetic macho man flick the woman who played Diesel's life was so coilingly clingy she seemed like a roll of cling wrap
Stuck that up dig wrapped around the grunting bald guy
Diesel spoke to her in honey dripping and deering germs in each of them focused on each other as if neither of them had had sex
Indecate and massive doses of eye acro
Okay, we get it Vin Diesel isn't gay
Can't make eye contact without inside Multanus multiple orgasms similar to the cupcake. That's easy
She's not even that hot and he's well bald and lumpy. That seems rude
He's a locked around in a tight wife beat her shirt and
Sported male boobs. What's next male camel toe? Yes
I've just never seen a Vin Diesel movie
Anyway, he wanted bald in this one though. Yeah, yeah, he has a mayor and some and some
I mean, I was about to say like this is the blackest I've ever seen
Yeah, he carries it and in his life
Yeah, he want to hit the child
Yeah, Diesel's friends seem seedy or then the folks you've seen at a urine splash to inner city subway station rolled up in a bottle of
Muscatel
No one was the same guy who plays the most interesting man in the world for does that he's beer commercials?
Yeah, same guy. How about that nice?
Okay, too funny Diesel grunts and punches his way through a predictable juvenile
I didn't like the movie he even one star this other guy is his title to his review is I want two hours of my life back
When you walk into a movie theater after paying $7 you expect to be at least all right
Even if you're seeing piglets big movie you expect it to be at least worth one out of $7
After you see a man apart you walk out of the movie feeling like the movie itself owes you money
From the start to finish been diesel proves once again that is acting the acting scales pales in comparison to jaw roll
I wish I could have stayed home and watched the Spanish channel for two hours, which would have entertained me more
My favorite thing about this review is he references the time and movies were only $7. Oh, yeah, yeah, right like that
This was what a what a world he saw when it came out
What a world now we got some nicer reviews. I think it's good yeah, and on some positive news
You know, yeah, yes, our our spirits are declined after that
Yeah, I should movies are a difficult genre, but nevertheless a genre that old Vinnie is mastered
The movie is one of a kind to masterpiece the way mr. Gray channel the full energy of the actors on this movie is remarkable
Don't read this movie. I it okay, okay
Ah, this this last one says it's just titled great acting Vin Diesel has showed me that he can act in boil or real
So when I saw triple X and fast and furious. I knew it wasn't him. It was plotless scripts now that I've seen this movie
I can be reassured Vin Diesel has really worked hard with his character
minor details which make it human really been brought the story to life the story itself is a very good one
What do you think Bernard?
What about those reviews?
Uh, what was the last thing he said said the story itself is a very good one which has you rooting for the protagonist for the whole time
I mean well the rooting that I'm a Vin Diesel fan, but
He totally should have been taken off this case. That's what I was saying
You know, I literally have that like why is this man working this case for so long in the movie yeah
Like it's like he's snapping off on everybody
He's the dude that was like you know they're in the meeting and no one is like
Yeah, you know what I'm gonna get the scout them late. They're like hey
What point yeah at what point does this to be you know what maybe he's too close to this one he might be a little
We on the blue hole investigation when he talked memory beat that dude. Yeah, to death. Oh, yeah
Yeah, or like the whole Russian relat with the hey hey hey hey the bullets
He deserved that Russian relat
I mean, oh you tell about the dude in addict. No, yeah, no to do that bad
Boy, he took it. He wasn't the addict. Oh, he wasn't the addict. Yeah same guy. Oh, he didn't he was just a drug dealer in charge
He's like the snitch. I said, I said he'd like to be teaching you screw up, not like he is
But why he can't teach you through what you play in droop nudge when I found some trivia
Um, so it says the scene where Shawn beats the dealer to death was cut by seven seconds
So that original scene featured the dealer spitting out teeth and bloody pieces from his cheek
So the scene was cut in order to get our rating and not a NC 17
I read that I had forgotten completely that NC 17 existed
I was like oh, yeah, I mean the lion's been moved so far now is like I see cuss on regular tv now
That's what I'm saying the original title of the movie was
Diablo new last cinema uh, I had to change the title to avoid a lawsuit of the role playing hack and slash video game
Diablo from 1990. I love Diablo too. I haven't played the first one
But I was like in middle school in high school obsessed so
But that's weird that they would be like we're gonna see you if he uses a role playing game. Oh man. Yeah, it's a good
It's a good old one of the first NMO RPGs
This is you guys you guys new newcom. Yeah, well about the same time
You guys seem like you did things like have friends and maybe appropriate recreation
Our sister so I don't think you guys played it, but trust me if you we would have had a wonderful part
I did not hear something funny and this could be for Bernard
This was the final role for Corinne Stephens
This is the last movie anybody saw her
man and Lorene's tape will later appear in an episode of tv series justified
Also starring none other than Timothy all of fans where he would be Timothy all of a fan would be the
Law officer in Lorene's tape would be the drug dealer which one was all of it. Holly would jack
So those are some couple of fun facts. That's fun. What did we think about this movie? What are all of our opinions?
I feel like you kind of went under the radar like when it came out, you know, that's why I said I thought it made
We make it that much here cuz I yeah you really didn't hear a lot about it, but it was just like
And you know it found me because I like being these on the living room state and I'm like them together
Okay, that's cool. I'm that an action movie. I'm like I'm here for it
But yeah, like they said it was like yeah, this is a
Made by dudes for dudes like explosions murders
Drugs just
Yeah, cars and they did oh they did have a few cool cars in this movie too to kind of go with the fast and furious
Remember the one that they stole yeah at the airport kind of fun to
When you're watching this it almost feels like you're watching like a young dom storyline
Yeah, like him getting shot in the leg and then swimming through sewage with no infection
Yeah, that's that's been diesel that's something to try to
India all day for that man. Yeah, they both guys. Yeah, he's a real take-out shot. Yeah, they had best
I think one of them one of them got shot in the leg in a knee. Yeah, yeah, but but no he didn't get shot in the knee
He did get him like later when he's in maxiola
Yeah, a little bit of a lamp and I was like
He wasn't enough. Yeah, I was like I feel like you'd be he's like I'm fine. I'm like, huh?
How long ago? How long later was this that he went to basically go to get what the heck happened in that ending?
Like I don't like I don't think I think this movie is just still going. I don't think it actually ended
Apparently I thought they had infiltrated his people because they you know they all came out in a wrist
Yeah, I don't think they did infiltrate
Yeah, so I saw so much nice in the hand cuz and he walked away and everyone rushed yeah
He's still walking he's still going Vindies him. He's still walking. He's enjoying his time in Mexico. Yeah, he's still walking
You met him. He met him. He went he met no he no he will never meet another one
There is no other one in for him but states. Yeah, I thought to myself. Maybe you shouldn't have gone to Mexico and showed him your face
Yeah, maybe he should have kept the little thing on the right
Right, right, he would have never known we was the first person the way up who shy
That was that was a cool little like when they busted in there with a mask they kind of little vigilante
Mildemann said he and he run them down on foot
In the car. Yeah, of course he did
And freaking me so kind of Sean freaking ditter whatever
Yeah, look he was look he was
Cars when he got killed his wife, okay. Yeah, they killed that man's wife
This is the first time I've ever seen then have chemistry with a young younger woman usually it's like an old grandma and he's like
That that makes you know, yeah
That's true. Yeah, what do we
You have to go back and look at that because it was not made a lot of candles
She was making candles and then they had to cook out and he invited
Me agents and big city and everyone was so cool of it
It's definitely one thing when they walked in and big sexy was like am I cool?
And then the other guy was like he looked at Vince wife was like was that all right? Yeah, I was like
Yeah, this is
One of the big drug dealers and he I remember he had a new gun. It's okay
It's okay that he's a drug dealer because he's an arm house. Yes, absolutely. He's one of the good one
He's one of the zone is yeah for everybody. Yeah, yeah
Including the the woman in the bikini with the hot butt that the guys the married men were looking at and making jokes about first
For real stephs was who were those women?
I think the women ran the women at the beach when they at the park now they were just random women
We're just scoping out random torus. I mean he was like they were doing really well because they have beachfront property
Yeah, that's a really is that much the D.A. Magistrate just made not that much
But he also was not that I got a pass with the drug guys. I feel like he
Was it so early they were gang members who became D.A. Yeah, they were and everyone was cool. They like yeah
You go get your gang member friends to help with it
We're gonna bring you guys into the D.A.
So I noticed a few pair like I noticed a few things in the movie that were parallels to fast and furious
So first of all the family barbecue right away. I was like where's Roman? When's the rock?
Second thing when he like when his woman died and they gave him the cross
And then this one's a bit obscure, but I feel like a mark of a good fast and furious movie is when someone says something at the beginning of the movie that is
Pretty dumb by itself and then the movie happens and then has been diesel kills the bad guy
He says the same line like sometimes the street wins
And this the blind he does here the line he says like
I wanted you
And I was like that's that's been good
I feel like I'm watching a fast and furious movie
And then I feel like the scene that didn't get enough credit because it was so random
If it happened ever all this serious stuff the wife's dead they're tracking down the drug dealers things are happening
And then big sexy sense out his drugs in the fiend chihuahua
Yeah, I think that's not that's out of you. I was like his mo good to play that part
I know he's good out his most C.J. stocks from our listeners. Yeah, he's more agent
Along with he like out at the beginning there right because they had a whole funeral for this woman without a
The funeral I was like how many months was he was he was he? Um so yes so
He was crazy how that happened then he woke up with like all his strengths
Yeah, he woke up with his strengths and his and a beat right
Do you think they might have like needed to wait for him to come back for a funeral like I mean I get very
There but like they should have held a service once he was able to run I'm gonna go with at least three months
I'm going with three months they were like this body started to sink we need to
They got like we got it her family's asking questions
They don't know if you're coming out. Yeah, that's right
Hey could be a week it could be three years we don't know yeah, so but whatever the
Keeps it body on ice
Yeah, keep in the refrigerator. Yeah, she's got a candle. We can
We end up. Hey, anybody got a storage unit. They're not used ever just gonna put the body right
It's safe keeping and I guess my biggest critique with this movie was I did think it was too long like I thought
Really? Yeah, I thought it was too long like I got a little bit a
I enjoyed it, but I got a little bit bored and I thought the action scenes were like they're trying to add too much suspense
Like when he was like doing the raid like I needed him to go in there to start shooting people
Like wow, the race when they winning with big sexy. Yeah, and he tried out his new toys. Oh, I love that part
Yeah, no, this is yeah, so I guess that was the cool part
But then it had him a lot of him just like walking through the hall stealthily. I'm like you're
You don't walk
You throw your gun down and you just punch your way and you don't even need gun. Yeah, it's strong grenade and then whoever's left
And walk it just walk in with the grenade let it blow up
Then you walk in you know for me. I was like really into the movie
But then like I felt like it was dragging a little bit
And so like I was a little bit like less into it by the end was confusing
I was like oh
Okay, so that was my I was my only critique
I honestly liked it. I don't know if I thought it was too long but I did think it was
A little bit redundant right
So maybe that's why I'm going with it like I don't know maybe at this point maybe you just leave the gallow
Maybe that's why if you know where you live
And that's why I was there really prison
Yeah, let me just let you know
Who is saying maybe if you get to be occupied selling more went then you know
Yeah, that guy move he moves 50 metric
I mean, that's what he said that's what he said and I believed him when he said that
I did not like Hollywood jacks all blue outfits
What that was a weird choice everything like
Where he is a film baby is a film y'all got y'all got him messed up. He is a film. Oh, he ran a show
He was a hairdresser. It don't matter how he is a film
Okay, he is a player well again, it was a massage parlor exactly
Maybe he was running some exactly a pale
The after they harassed jack and he the people all the people from this bar came out see what was going on
He told him to get the hail back inside
Hit the hell back inside
I heard he's like, you're looking at this was filmed in 2001 which like
This weird when you watch movies that all like his like police brutality hits differently
Like like now when I watch that I'm like, I don't know if you should do that. Yeah, well like I feel like in 2001
I'm like, yeah, you know you beat him up
You do it
You punch him in the
I'm like it's sad because there's cops that are doing this for like
And they haven't had their wives murdered in front of oh gosh, so
Oh, yeah, because then then because when he came back to the house and Karan Stephens gave him the cold shoulder
He's like, she didn't feel comfortable with me around
We have just tripping on the fact that that was Karan's step
Oh my god, she was a yeah, she was yeah, I'm really too. I enjoyed it. Tid me because when I first saw a come on screen
I was like, oh, I like who was this cute woman on the screen and then I was like, oh, forget she was it is
Yeah, this is a little one-hit wonder well. Yeah, so hey
Now you should make the queen. Oh, she's from St. Thomas actually
Where is that? Oh, and if you listen to this podcast, we'd love to have you on. All right, honestly
Yes, Karan Stephens if you are a please girl
Oh
Yeah, just running by Runaq comedy
I know
You can run about me
Huh, run by your girl. I'll reach out to you after I'm the one who read the book. I know all your movies
I'm about to marathon all of them so
So I've seen them all okay
Too fast to furious movie rating so too fast is like you loved it your life is better because of it fast is like you liked it
Phyrus could either be you didn't like it or like this whatever you met, you know
Then too furious is like you hated it and your life is less than because of it. Okay, first one is just fast
No too fast
It's a reference to the second fast and furious. Okay, I'm say too fast
It was I mean, I got everything out of it that I expected from the movie so it was like okay. I'm expecting explosions
I'm expecting the reinstate. I'm expecting
Vin Diesel and I'm expecting drugs and I was like it I don't know how you gave me everything. Yeah, yeah, I mean
I'm you know there I mean there yeah, like I said there were there maybe some slow scenes and you know stuff like that
But you know, I mean overall I was like that I got what I came for you know it was a seven orgasm cupcake movie. Yeah
I'm giving it a fast
I honestly did like it I didn't like
And I did like it was a little like he says a little bit who some parts were a little bit too slow
I think I like the parts most because they were speaking in Spanish
That was close in my eyes and they sure that I could understand them
All right, I understand it
Love it especially when they were um when she was in jail
When he was in jail talking um that part I could understand
Otherwise than that um
What I watched it gained sure
I'll give it a fast as well. I thought I did think it drug drug on a little long
I think for the the plot it was like I like these movies we talked about this with pitch blackwoods like a a simple plot
Yes, like a like they're not saving the entire galaxy
You know a man a man had his wife killed and he's going to get the bad guys and in the process stopping a drug cartel
You know good simple like it I like that um but I I'm learning as I'm watching all these movies
I think for me my attention span is the hour and a half if it's gonna be a two hour movie
I need it to be a good two hours like this one
I think they could have done some more editing gotten it down to an hour and a half
What well they did cut seven seconds out remember
What more should I expect?
I need that NC 17 rating that's not what I honestly
I did want to see uh I didn't like the part when he came back to the house the house was still shot up
I'm like uh instill with cry tape on it and I was like uh even at the end of the movie this
Yeah, what are they gonna take care of this
Yeah, he was preoccupied he was like I'll talk to the window people
No, you know vindies was like I don't I don't want you to clean it up I want to look at this
It's what I didn't like him going to the graveyard
And then turning around like I get it you're not ready, but then just don't yeah
What if they had ended the movie right when he like walked away from
Diablo what if like that was where the credits hit do you think like that would have been a better ending than adding that graveyard scene?
I think so oh
Okay, I'm walking away from me yeah, yeah, I think so yeah
Yeah, yeah, we don't get we don't yeah, we didn't need the graveyard
It's sad enough, but we know we're gonna be right at it. We already loved her
We already knew that she was your one and only we know that you know, I'm saying
I need to be with my wife like I can get it like maybe they could have replaced that scene with like him making candles now
Like the same thing. Yeah, I would have heard him. Why can't he play back with his friend how to make ten? Yeah
What's up? Where was this godchild? Why is he not playing with his godchild? Yeah, that's right
Oh, oh, well, cuz the wife did they get it?
She's just like that, cuz she's just saying it
Yeah, she's not dressed so you know, he went out on the mission probably after he probably told her to you
He was going to get a and then he come came back with a bullet wound. She's like, I told you
So he probably like yeah, yeah, he probably like on restriction. They can only be friends. He goes on a business trip
That's boom, man, that's his baby down there. That's his god baby right there. What's his niece? Whichever man? I mean things will move out
Those are without yeah, when he starts dating again. Yeah, he starts dating again. Yeah, she's still I mean like she's sending back home with a bullet in his
He did whatever wherever he got shot. She did. Yeah, she did all right here are my best bits. Right. Oh, I want to hear him. All right
So these are like these are like the most intense moments these would have been my
I don't have a cool this would have been my seven orgasmic
Moment of intensity, but not much better like shock and freak out. I just want you to know that this is not frosting
This is marshmallow. Oh
Right. It's like a meringue. It looks real meringue
We don't get a knife and we go head to set this up. Yeah, we'll see you up at all
I don't have to have a key experience to see cake
I have to and listen if you're listening to us it is worth checking our YouTube channel out to see the cupcake
Might even do like a closeout you could adjust that scene
So here they see there was the most intense moments
Scene number one was the Russian roulette
Even without the seven seconds is for the intense
Scene number two
Was Hollywood Jack when he
Went into the house and killed the dude like when it went in for the
And then scene number
Yeah, no he was there. Yeah, yeah, that at that but when I saw that scene
I remember thinking like oh he's the main villain
I was wrong, but that scene was so intense. I was like he's the guy um and then the last one
I just wrote down a drunk cowboy beat down and it was when
uh, what was that scene it was when he brought up
The drug deal and then there's the drunk cowboy. He said something's like yeah, we just killed this guy's life
Oh, yeah, and then and then man everything he was from there
He's like oh my god. He's gonna destroy this whole investigation right now. Yeah, and he kind of did like he did
Look at him. Yeah, like that's and that was when they were like maybe you shouldn't be all this case
And I was like maybe you should have seen that sooner
But anyway, so those are my three scenes uh, that so it was Russian roulette Hollywood Jack in the fridge
Um or drunk cowboy beat down. I'm going with scene two Hollywood Jack in the fridge
I feel like that scene was very intense
He that's why I'm going with where you at?
Yeah, I go down uh, I also like to see him when they were in the
He was in the ceiling
Yeah, well, that was yeah, you yeah, you didn't know uh because remember they were walking in and discovering their bodies
So you're like, you know, what's going on here? Yeah, that's
That's so far. Oh my god. Yeah, the tongue. Oh, yeah. Yeah, that's right. Yeah, tongue. Well, uh, I'm going with the second one
Second one. He said a second one too. Second one. Well, uh, CJ's moved herself to the lead and this one
That was the one I picked that was like all of them were intense. Well, so that one caught me off guard
Those maybe because it wasn't the main character that we've already said you know, crazy
But like yeah, so so I think we're currently at like four three on the score. Yep, that's weird
So ha ha
Well
Thank you for coming out again
So much fun we did it. I was a cool breakdown
That was good. Yeah, we've uh, did we cover everything in this movie as we we did
I think I think we all rewashed it pretty frayfully, so we was like we could give them good. Yeah, yeah
So you really enjoy well you of course you do. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean, I like to when it came out so I
Man, you know, I think I had that poster in my classroom when I talked theater back in the
Really? Yeah, I could I used to go to the um, um, I had a video place around the corner for me
And they would give away their posters. Okay, you know what? That's cool. Now that you're saying that I'm pretty sure
I have seen that poster in theater classes. I'm pretty sure. This wasn't we said it was the last one that won the award for the
Yes, that's all about to look up if he like so the last movie we had one in award
We learned that the riddock poster won like a Saturn award for their movie
So let's see did this one and I'm sure a man apart won awards
So you know what? I don't know. I will maybe it did but like I can
I don't know
I did because I'd never seen this movie until this rewatch
No, good
Let's see uh, I wasn't a rewatch for me. That's just a watch
Okay, first down one
Okay, okay, okay
Okay, if you get an egg, it had a nomination
Oh wow, a Teen Choice Award
Choice movie actor, drama, action, and adventure, vindiesel
Okay, of course. I mean like yeah, I'm absolutely
Well, thank you again, Bernard. We love to have you here. We'll have you again
CJ only had half a work cupcake in case you know I'm gonna share because I'm gonna I'm gonna cut them a piece
So nice of you. Listen everyone this week, you know, don't have a family barbecue bring out all of your friends
Your drug dealer friend your police friend. You absolutely happy tomorrow. You weekend. It's my early birthday
