They support proof that supporting you is safe. When you're unknown, struggling, and building something nobody can verify yet. Cheering for you requires actual belief. They have to risk being wrong. They have to take your ambition seriously before the results make it socially acceptable. And most people are essentially saying, I would love to believe in your dream, but first it should pass a background check, become profitable, and receive approval from strangers. So while you're in the mud, posting to 12 people, losing money, questioning yourself, and trying to build something from nothing, it's silence. Maybe a few polite likes from your mother and somebody from high school. But once it works, now all of a sudden everyone understands the vision. Now they always knew you had it in you. The obsession they called unrealistic becomes discipline. The risks they called irresponsible become courage, and the idea they ignored becomes inspiring. Now nothing changed except the scoreboard gave them permission to agree with you. And then people who never shared your work start saying, I've been watching you for years.

Um at one moment, a little bit tipsy off of a couple of drinks to, you know, some of the people in attendance purchased for me. I said, my heart is full right now, you know. Um, and really that's it was no cap. That was really just how I felt, like looking around, seeing the people that were there to show up for me. Um, and I would say admittedly so not the best planning on my side about you know just celebrating a birthday. We talked about that already. Um for the people that did pop out, love y'all forever, you know, y'all, y'all, y'all are y'all are real, you know, whether it be the people that were my family, whether it be the people that were my supporters, the people that pay me for my services, who who still fuck with me in that kind of way, uh pulling up and showing love who's a great man. I got a little bit drunker than I do recently. You know, I'm I'm not a drinker, so I got a little bit drunker than I do normally uh at this stage in my life. And I've been feeling it all week. Um to the week, yeah, but the the the effects of of excess and alcohol uh definitely sitting into my system. My workouts ain't really been feeling the best, but you know, sometimes you you just gotta deal with that. And for the right reasons, you know, we we go out there, we we celebrate. And you know, again, happy to be here at 40. Said all of it before. Um but moving forward, man, we'll open this thing up for the topic of conversations or the topic of my perspectives, I guess. Um, and first and foremost, we'll open up for a little bit of hoop talk. Um and a little bit of controversy, I would say. Um, and today's talk, I guess, circles around the WNBA. Um some of the recent splash that they've had in the media circles and just uh the timelines with everything going on with uh the transgender rule for um the WNBA, sparking debate uh off of two NBA players, well two former NBA players, I would say, Ennis Cantor, former Nick, shout out to you, uh Roy Thai, uh former NBA player. Um has they both declared for the WNBA draft. If you've seen it in the news, then you know. Um but if you weren't aware, the WNBA has a rule basically saying that uh women are are allowed to play in the WNBA. Um the wording of which is a little bit vague and you know is a little bit open for interpretation, um, which is where we've had some WMBA players speaking out about, you know, the the fact that they are not necessarily the most supportive of uh transgender women or you know, women who were born men, um and who transitioned to be w to be women. Excuse me if I'm not saying it exactly correctly, um, but it is what it is as far as what the situation is, I would say. Um and uh I guess the boys stepped up to to kind of voice their opinions, to kind of make a mockery of the WMBA in a sense, uh, but to also, you know, point out some some things that may not look the the best to in life for the league, and some things that may not play out the best in the light of the league just because of, you know, the the rule itself. Uh so they both made posts saying that they was gonna declare for the WMBA, uh which to my first reaction I thought it was a little bit clout chasy, um and a little bit, you know, involving yourself inside. Something that really has nothing to do with you. But after looking deeper into it, I did understand the rationale behind it, which was to kind of stand up for the uh the women who are born women in the NBA. And the debate goes deeper and deeper and deeper. And myself, I don't want to act like, you know, people of that lifestyle or for that, you know, support people living their own lifestyle or doing what they want to do in that regard. But for me, what is the most glaring thing that we need to understand as people is that when it comes to sports competitions, men and women do not necessarily belong on the same playing field. And I say that in the most, I guess, inoffensive way possible, uh, just because men and women biologically, um, anatomically, and a lot of different ways you can slice this thing are not the same. Um, and I just don't believe that women who were even born when men belong in women's sports. Um and you could take it how you want to take it. I'm not here to really argue with anyone, you know, about that, but my perspective is that women's sports is for women's sports, men's sports is for men's sports. Um, and it's not to say there can't be some kind of cross sports. There are sports that play, you know, mixed doubles and things like that in tennis where men actually play with women. And it's not a thing to say that there is not a chance for men and women to compete together. Uh, but when it comes to specific sports to where there is a very, very huge athletic advantage, a very, very huge strength advantage, speed advantage, uh, overall, just you know, stronger, faster, et cetera, et cetera, like the WFBA, I do not believe it is a sport that is somewhere where you should mix men and women on the same court. Um, and we've seen men play women before, we've seen women beat men before. But when you're getting into a professional sports league uh where there's a lot of things, you know, riding on it, people's contracts, people's livelihood, all of that stuff to me, it just gets a little bit muddy. And I'm all for everyone living their own life as far as who they choose to identify as. You know, I say this with no malice, no hate or anything in my heart towards that community. Uh but simple fact that when you add that thing, add that into the mix for, again, men or women-born men playing in women's sports, the advantages is just so huge. And it goes back to, I think a couple years ago, there was a uh college swimmer who was the first transgender woman uh to openly compete in the NCAA Division I championships. Uh name was Leah Thomas, um, the transgender woman, and was shattering records and stuff like that and winning and won the 500-yard freestyle uh in March of 2022. So this is not too long ago. Um the career at the University of Pennsylvania had sparked a massive national debate uh regarding inclusion, fairness, and the biological differences in men's and women's sports. Um, so that's one case of it. You know, you got a transgender woman stepping into the game and into the pool, and then just again dominating the competition so much that it feels unfair. And it's not to say that there aren't areas where a woman can beat a man in this pool, because yeah, I'm sure if I jump in the pool versus another woman who's very trained, very, you know, she's got a lot of years, she's very seasoned at swimming, she's probably gonna wash me, and that's fine. But when you add a man who is, you know, doing the same kind of regimen of the same sport, of the same kind of training, I do believe it is a huge advantage for them. Um, and that's where things get a little bit unfair for the women, you know. I do feel bad for a lot of the ladies in that regard, just because a lot of times they work hard to put themselves in position to be seen, to be respected, uh, and and just, you know, revered, I guess, in a sports world, you know, and and we've seen great dominant women athletes throughout history. So I think for for that part of sport, it is great to see, you know, for that sex or that, you know, that that gender of people to have something for themselves, you know, like women's sports has grown, it's big now, especially in the WMBA, it's grown on a year-by-year basis. So what happens when you add that into the mix? We gets a little bit, you know, political in a sense, and and and uh it just gets muddy, you know. And for me, it's a lot, it's a lot behind it, and I think there's a lot in the world that, you know, makes this thing feel very tense and a conversation that we can't even really have. But from my perspective, it's just not a good mix. Like, yes, there are sports again where women and men can play together, but those are fewer and far between than just all leagues that have competitions and pay people to play sports and like that, you know, just just keep it away. I just don't believe, especially in basketball, that guys or men who are transitioning to women who identify as women throughout their lives, are you know that that's somewhere like just we gotta figure out something else with that. Like, I don't know exactly what the answer is, but we gotta figure something else with that because anything that I can think of may be considered even more divisive, even more this, even more that. But when you choose a certain path in your life, I do also think that you have to be okay with you know certain parts of things being, you know, excluded from that, you know. And hey, I'm not someone who is of that community, and I don't really try to tell people how of that community how they should think, but I do believe there should be room for respective dialogue about um, you know, how we work that out. And that's just that for me. Um, but hopefully they figured it out. I heard they're trying to rewrite the rules for the WNBA to make sure that you know things are quote unquote fair, all that stuff. But right now it's a little bit of a media firestorm. And I and my perspective is again that I do not believe that men born women belong in women's sports who are you know busting their ass to make a name for themselves in that way. Um, and that's that. You know, y'all can feel how y'all feel. Let me know how y'all feel. Again, I'm open for debate, but I'm not really open to change my perspective on this one. Uh, so moving forward, um, on the next piece of topics and things to talk about. NBA season opener. Let's talk about it, Philly. Let's talk about it. Uh, the Knicks are playing Philadelphia in the opening game of the NBA season. Um, I was a little bit surprised that they chose to make that the opening game. Uh, I thought they was gonna make it the Christmas game, but I ain't really a fan of what they did with the Christmas game. But the NBA schedules are out uh finally after LeBron decided to make his decision after holding things up for so long, according to Adam Silver. Um and yeah, man, we're gonna get to this shit right out the gate. Right out the gate, man. We're gonna see what the what the vibe is with these with these Philadelphia 76ers on opening night. Um, I think that it's a good way to start the season off. You know, I'm not mad about it. Because good matchups all across in the opening, uh, opening week. Uh obviously the games are still all over the place. So as far as the the streaming app or service that you need to be able to watch them, make sure you got your your services right and your subscriptions is up, headed to the NBA season at that point. We still got football to get to before that. But, you know, I I think that it's this is gonna be a good good way to start the season off. Does it mean you know the Philadelphia 76ers are better than the Knicks if the Knicks beat them? I mean, if the Sixers beat the Knicks, does it mean the Knicks are better than the Philadelphia 76ers if the Knicks beat them? Yes, from my perspective. Nah, I'm just talking shit. But I mean, I think it's a good test and great way to start the season off. So I'm glad that they did give us that because a lot of the talk online has been Knicks versus Sixers, Eastern Conference finals, you know, matchup and all that stuff. So yeah, it's good, it's a good way to kick things off, man. Uh, we still got a way to go before we get to basketball, still got football out there floating around. Giants open up this weekend with a preseason game. Um, was offered tickets to the game, and I may actually try to pop out for it. Um, not sure how that's gonna work out because I have some other obligations that I gotta take care of as far as getting Queen Christine from the airport coming back from her trip from being out of town. Um, but a lot of excited things coming up, man, as we close out this summer, man. Um, and moving forward, keeping it in sports as we do close out the summer, still off the heels of the World Cup energy. Um, and a lot of things going on in the soccer world. Um, I ain't gonna really get too much into the whole infantini thing, uh, as far as him trying to sell FIFA basically to private equity groups and the the drama that that caused. Uh today we're gonna go more a little bit on the positive side, just because I do believe the global expansion, not it's crazy to say the global expansion of soccer, but I have to say it just because football, soccer has not been as big here in the states. So this is now more of a global expansion of the game, uh making it more appealing here for the folks in the USA. Um and most specifically, what I'm speaking about is the changes to the MLS. Um, and what we're gonna see uh in the next season, uh so I think this will be the last season that is played like this. Uh, I have to get the exact facts on it. I saw it come on across my timeline today. Um, so I do want to do a little bit more research on it. But from what I do understand, the MLS is going to change when they play their seasons in order to be a little bit more aligned in alignment with like the European seasons and um the the big dogs in soccer, you know, when they're actually playing as well. Uh this has been, this has been, I guess, news that's kind of exciting uh just because it should offer more opportunity and open things up more so in the transfer window, which is more in the summertime, uh, which kind of competes with the MLS schedule. We just saw in the World Cup uh that a lot of the the players had to take you know breaks from their World Cup team or from their teams like Messi and all that stuff in the middle of the season while things are going on uh just to take a break to go play in FIFA. Um so and it happens, you know, across the world as well. It's not the first time that you know leagues have to take a break to play international competitions, but I do think uh being in alignment with the European season opens up the chance for more of the European players to come play here in the States, uh, which is now looking like a growing market for the game of soccer, um, football, whatever you want to call it. Um, and I do think that it's a it's a great thing. Uh, I did kind of call these changes happening um when Lionel Messi decided to come over and play for Inter Miami uh a few years ago on when he first made the move and the big, big splash. Uh I think that move, and people may not really see it right now just because we're in the middle of it. But when you look back, that move, that one signing of that one player being the GOAT, and you guys know how I feel about him, has kind of shifted things to where these European players are now looking at like life in the States, teams in the States, and you know, coming over and actually playing just because the GOAT did it. And now he's actually proven that, you know, the we the league may be weaker compared to some of the European leagues. But I think when Messi came over, people thought it was kind of him like riding off into the sunset. I'm gonna just go play in Miami. Uh, a la David Beckham, a la Zlat Zlatan Ibrahimovich, some of my other favorite players for historically in soccer. Uh, when they came over, it was more so at the end of their career just to keep playing, you know, just to experience something different, experience a different country, different vibe, you know, and kind of like go along with that. Uh, but now I think it it is good to see someone who's dominating on the world stage still uh be able to play in the MLS and like draw more attention and draw more light to that league. So much so that they've got other younger stars coming over to play in the MLS. Well, not so much younger, they're still a little bit on the older side, uh, mainly like Antoine Griezmann and most recently Robert Lewandowski, who who left Barcelona to come play for the Chicago, um, uh playing Chicago in the MLS. And they both of them, Griezmann and Lewandowski, are tearing shit up out there. So I think it shows one, the level of quality that we have here in the States is starting to rise a little bit. Um, and again, it just creates some more of a global expansion for soccer so there's a more appealing game all across and creates more opportunities. Uh, and you know, again, some players really look taking a look at the life in the U.S. who, you know, may want to come over here anyway at some point just to check it out and just to play, you know. And I think a lot of them don't really want to because it's like a stain on their resume, feeling like they got to play in the MLS in the height of their career. Uh, but when with the rising tide, I think all ships uh are are gonna lift. And I think I I I directly want to call that the messy effect, whether it is, whether it isn't, I don't know specifics on that, but I do feel like the that shift happened around when he decided to come over and play uh in the MLS. And I'm here for it, man. And now you got guys who are also legends, maybe a little bit older, like Neymar, they're saying he might come to enter Miami and give it a real, real like look when he has a chance to come over in the transfer window window. And De Bruiner as well, and Romululukaku, like guys who are like really, really, you know, respected on the world stage coming over here and playing in the States, I think is a good thing, man. So I support it. I'm here for it. Love all the changes I'm seeing with the MLS, and again, just to be able to grow the global game of soccer and make it more appealing all across. That said, that's pretty much everything on the sports side that we wanted to tap into. Um, but with that, I will get into something that's a little bit more close to heart in this in this sense. Um, you guys know I like to be the living example, and you know I love to, you know, really just share and spread all of my experiences that I'm going through in my my current journey as a new entrepreneur, uh, where people they like a lot of people will talk about the wins when they get there and some of the losses that they took when they get there. Uh, but I think someone who's really boots on the ground trying to grow something, uh, it's important for people to give that kind of perspective for those people that can buy along or buy in with that or go along with that just because they might be feeling those things themselves. So uh I present you my piece uh on changing your habits as a business owner. Um and this comes off of a conversation that I had with Queen Christine. Hopefully she doesn't really mind me mentioning this, but we got into a little bit of a tense conversation, um, which not very often, just because we handle things for the most part very uh respectfully and not to say that it wasn't respectful, but we just chill for the most part. That's why, you know, anytime we really have to speak about something, it never really lasts too long, uh, which is a sign of you know being in a great relationship with someone who can uh grow with you. And then, you know, you kind of match each other's vibe and can bounce off of each other as far as how you deal with issues and deal with problems and deal with hearing each other out. So um this comes off of a conversation that she had with me about me starting to understand, you know, where I'm at as a business owner that sometimes uh I do need to get checked on just because when I'm living life and I'm just in the middle of everything I'm doing, the the day-to-day mentality can get a little bit, you know, shifted just because you may be doing something that doesn't really have the exact focus that you need or put you in the exact focus that you need. Uh, but I say that to say that, you know, our conversation really opened my eyes up to myself and where I'm at as a business owner and understanding that, you know, I come last. Um and for anyone else who's going through it, you know, it's maybe there's something you could relate to, maybe it's something that you might have gone through as far as the shift in your mentality. Um, but it's something I'm in the middle of real time right now. And, you know, I'm so used to being someone that has either played for a basketball team that's paid me money or work for someone else that, you know, has paid me money. Um, then being able to just have money coming in and then be able to just budget or plan my money out, or even like waste some of my money the ways that I wanted to, just because, you know, sometimes I'm someone who likes to enjoy my life. But getting into this whole new entrepreneurial phase has been a little bit of a challenge to be able to move away from that mentality and lock in on what life should be for me right now. Um, and conversation was good, you know, it got to a positive place, and I think we came to a place of understanding. Um, but I do feel like that shift is something that I need to lean into even more, uh, just because understanding where you're at as a business owner now can help the longevity of the business and being able to uh put me on the path to growth, success, positive trajectory, all that stuff uh in the next coming years. And I just said it. I'm a person that likes to live life, enjoy things. I love nice things. I've always been a person who, you know, likes to splurge on myself a little bit. Um, but now I gotta get into the mindset of like you really do come last, you know. And the things that people don't tell you when you're starting to open a business is a lot of the things that I'm in the middle of right now. Of course, you know you gotta save, of course, you know you gotta plan for this and plan for that. But, you know, uh the the feelings that that causes within your own life about the decisions you have to make and the discipline that you have to like really start to live by uh is two different things, you know. And uh now it's to the point where I really have to look at everything I'm doing financially from a different lens, just because one, I'm responsible for the growth of the business, two, I'm responsible for other people. Like I have staff that I pay, you know. So everything that I have coming in has to be towards one or both of those things first uh before I can even really look at what I want to do for myself, you know. And doing anything for yourself right now is kind of off the off the like it's off the table just because we're not at that point in the business yet. And it's something that just has to happen as far as the sacrifices that I need to make uh in order to, you know, keep things in line with where I wanted to be. Um and I'm not it's not a complaint, it's not really like uh anything that I'm down about. It's just really just a shift in perspective and realizing that, you know, my priorities are something that I have to really take more seriously in this new phase of my life, especially if I want this thing to grow over the next five, 10, 15 years uh in the way that I see it and the visions that I have for myself and a life that I want to live. You know, it's not about the right now, it's about the future, and and and and discipline is doing the the hard things over and over and over and over again without seeing the immediate result from them, um, and just still holding true to that. So I'm in the middle of it now, and I'm not gonna say I'm the best. I don't have the the best mindset, but I am experiencing that shift. Maybe it's coming along with me being 40 just because I'm looking at everything kind of differently now. Um, but I also want to embrace that because you know, it it doesn't get to the successful point without going through these little mini changes or big changes internally that kind of lead you there. And for all the entrepreneurs out there, I know you feel it, or if you don't feel it and you need someone else to tell you, listen, I am here to tell you, you have to change your priorities and you know, figure out how that works for you with the things that you might have been used to doing before that you know you need to step away from now, just move away from a little bit more now, just because it it's boots on the ground, Tom, you know, and I'm in the still in the middle of grind summer, a lot of things going on, a lot of things coming up that I have planned for the growth of my business and the growth of my facility. Um, but all in all, I'm fulfilled, man. I was just having a conversation with one of my friends out in France uh basically before I came over here to record, um, just telling them that listen, I I am very blessed and very fortunate to be in a position to where I've been working for myself for over a year, uh headed towards about a year and a half at this point. Um, but I do see more for myself in the future. And in order to get there, it does require a a little bit of just again, shift and again, focus uh and discipline. So that said, man, that's just my tidbit on that for today. Entrepreneurs, tap in, fuck with me. Those who are willing to make the most out of any situation, same likewise, man.
