It's a journey of exploration and discovery. In each episode, I sit down with remarkable individuals from all walks of life. These aren't household names. They're everyday heroes with fascinating tales to share. Drawing from my passion for Appreciative Inquiry, a management methodology focused on amplifying positivity, strengths, and successes.
In fostering meaningful change, we seek to uncover the moments that define us. I unearth stories of joy, kindness, and resilience through overwhelmingly positive questions.
Tell me about a recent accomplishment or success you're particularly proud of.
Can you recall a situation where you overcame a challenge that led to personal growth?
What did you learn from that experience? And what book recommendations do you have?
These are just a few of the questions we explore together. We will delve into the heart of each story, one conversation at a time, but be warned, laughter and tears are both frequent companions on this journey. That's the beauty of authenticity. It knows no bounds.
What sets ABWilson's Heart of the Matter apart is its consistency. S2 Ep31. Embodying Wellness: A Journey with Janice Mullings-George
In this uplifting and heart-centered episode, Aderonke Bademosi Wilson welcomes Janice Mullings-George, a devoted mother, wife and passionate advocate for health and wellness. With warmth and openness, Janice reflects on how motherhood, partnership and personal transformation have shaped her path, inviting listeners into a story that is empowering and deeply relatable.
Janice shares her evolving understanding of wellness, one that goes beyond traditional health ideals. For her, true wellness is rooted in joyful growth, self-compassion and showing up authentically rather than striving for perfection. Through gentle honesty, she encourages listeners to redefine health as an ongoing relationship with the self, one that requires curiosity, patience and acceptance.
A powerful part of Janice’s journey includes learning sign language and connecting with the hearing-impaired community. This experience opened her eyes to new ways of communicating and relating to others. It reinforced her belief that wellness also includes the ways we create empathy and connection across differences.
Throughout the conversation, Janice offers thoughtful insight into her self-care practices and the importance of stillness in a busy world. She describes the intentional act of pausing as a source of empowerment and clarity. Making space for quiet moments helps her stay grounded and present, especially when life feels fast or overwhelming. By embracing imperfection, she gives herself the freedom to grow without pressure and to meet each day with grace.
Her reflections on marriage and partnership add another layer of depth to the conversation. Janice speaks with appreciation for the love and support she shares with her husband. Their relationship is a space of mutual growth, honesty and emotional safety, reminding us of the importance of having someone who truly sees and believes in us.
This episode is an invitation to anyone seeking to reconnect with their own journey of wellness. Whether you are navigating parenthood, nurturing relationships or simply trying to live more authentically, Janice’s story offers gentle wisdom and heartfelt encouragement to show up for yourself with kindness and intention.

Aderonke Bademosi Wilson (00:00.398):
Welcome to another edition of ABWilson’s Heart of the Matter, a podcast that uses overwhelmingly positive questions to learn about our guests, where every episode uncovers extraordinary stories of triumph, growth, and empowerment. Hi, I’m Aderonke Bademosi Wilson, and my guest on today’s show is Janice Mullins-George.
Janice is a mother, wife, and health and wellness advocate. Janice, welcome to the show.
Janice Mullins-George (00:38.256):
Thank you so much, Aderonke. I’m really excited to be here.
Janice Mullins-George (00:48.505):
Motherhood has helped me learn a lot about the world and a lot about change. So yeah, that’s exactly how motherhood has helped shape me and my growth.
For me, I have been blessed with an amazing husband who—again—when I think about growth, he has helped me learn a lot about myself. I just think it’s beautiful. When you have that person beside you who is your “ride or die,” or who sees you in your deepest darkest moments and your happiest brightest moments, it just makes life sweeter.
Aderonke Bademosi Wilson (03:21.976):
What does your role as a health and wellness advocate mean to you?
Janice Mullins-George (03:29.100):
Helping people improve their lives through better health has been truly rewarding. And when I say health and wellness advocate, I try to do whatever I can to motivate people to live healthier, happier lives. It doesn’t just mean eating carrots all day or drinking water—though that’s a part of it—but also looking at wellness differently.
It means enjoying the journey of growing in your body—getting to know your body, what helps you tick, and what you can do to optimize how you feel. I always say it’s one of the most amazing things because you only get one body and one life, so you have to advocate for yourself in that space.
Janice Mullins-George (07:54.657):
I also learned how to interact with people who are hearing impaired by learning sign language. That experience was profound—I could play games with them, see how they lived, and work with them daily. It gave me a deep appreciation for life and for how individuals who experience life differently still find beautiful ways of enjoying it.
Janice Mullins-George (10:01.638):
Showing up authentically for me means I don’t have to be perfect at everything. If I fall down or make a mistake, I can pick myself up or ask someone to help me get back up. It means finding the resources I need when navigating a challenge.
Showing up authentically is about being the best Janice I can be—if that’s 5% or 10% today, then that is my best.
Janice Mullins-George (10:39.800):
I take moments to pause, to be still, to sit by myself and let thoughts flow freely. It’s empowering to stop because life can get so busy, full of things we have to navigate daily. Pausing is part of my self-care. It’s a reminder to be present and gentle with myself.
Aderonke Bademosi Wilson (11:15.400):
Thank you, Janice. This has been such a heartfelt and empowering conversation. Your story and perspective on growth, wellness, and authentic living are inspiring.
Janice Mullins-George (11:30.000):
Thank you, Aderonke. It’s been a pleasure to share. I hope it helps someone listening to embrace their own unique journey.
