The Joy of Football
The Joy of Football, celebrating the greatest sport in the world.
Join Neil Barnett (former Chelsea touch-liner announcer and football journalist) alongside 'The Voice' of the Premier League Martin Tyler (former SKY Sports Main Commentator) as they celebrate the greatest addiction in the World!
On The Joy of Football, we discuss, not only the joy, but also the issues - no matter how obscure. Every week we select our 'Three of the Best' players, Martin gives us his 'Letter from the Gantry' on his football topic for the week, and Neil shares his 'Voice of Passion' on another. And that's just scratching the surface.
So join us in celebrating the greatest addiction in the World: Football!

David Pleat
David John Pleat is an English football player turned manager. Pleat made 185 Football League appearances for five clubs, scoring 26 goals. He had two spells as manager of Luton Town, and four as manager of Tottenham Hotspur.
David Pleat has lived a life at the heart of football. From his debut as an England Schoolboy international in 1960 to his time as a scout for Tottenham Hotspur up to 2024, his is a story that touches every facet of the professional game. At Luton Town, he is perhaps best remembered for dancing on the pitch after a win over Manchester City secured the club's top-flight survival in 1983. However, his fifteen years at Kenilworth Road were about much more than that.
