ChiroVisibility The Podcast
Hey there, Chiropractors!
Welcome to ChiroVisibility: The Podcast. I'm Philippa, a chiropractor who got a bit obsessed with why some practices show up online and others don't, and then accidentally turned that obsession into a whole community. This podcast is for small practice owners who want to understand the digital world without the overwhelm, so you can get found by your people and do the work you actually love.

The Weight Of The Shoulds
SPEAKER_00How many shoulds have you been handed this week? You should be posting every day. You should be doing video. You should be on TikTok. You should adjust this way, taught this way, build your practice that way. Well, today I want to give you permission to put every single one of those shods down because the best visibility strategy you will ever have is the one nobody else can ever copy. And that is you. And I want to give a little shout out today to Jo Davison because she reminded me of this just this week. The most important person when you were doing anything is you, which means for me it's me, and for you it is you. And I'll be honest with you, I had totally forgotten that. I delved a little bit into the world of comparitis, where I was starting to question whether what I shared had any validity at all. Well, hello, you're back. I love that for you. I'm Friday Wilmot. This is the Chiro Visibility Pod where Chiropractic finds its people, and today's episode is one big permission slip. We're talking about doing it your way, why the shoulds can go do one, and why nobody anywhere can compete with you being you. I want to take a mini break here just to acknowledge something the great Stu Bittman says very frequently. If you've ever attended one of his seminars, you will know it, and it's don't should all over it. Right, let's carry on.
Comparitis And Online Noise
SPEAKER_00So every time I open my phone at the moment, it seems as a fresh advert for a shiny thing from an incredible chiropractor or chiropractic advocate, which means we have a lot of shoulds flying at us right now from every single direction. And it does make you question just a little bit whether what you have to share is important, and I promise you it is because there's something about being online, about social media generally, about being visible. If you hang around long enough, you will see other people sharing their truth too, and this is important, they should be able to. I said it, didn't I? But it's true, and they do, but don't let their truth make yours less. I had to remember that this week. For all of us, comparitis will sneak in at some point. It's my biggest wish, my biggest dream to do everything I can to empower you, to embolden you, and elevate you. Because I need you to remember, as Joe reminded me this week, one thing you are the only person that can do what you do. There is somebody out there who needs you, and if you don't show up, they can never find you. So don't compare yourself to other people. They will attract their people and you will attract yours.
Technique Shame And A Reframe
SPEAKER_00I fell in love with my technique when I was 15, having had my first adjustment, and the technique I fell in love with is a tonal technique, a lighter technique. It's not one of the traditional chiropractic techniques, it's a little bit different. And from years, because it was different and because it was what I knew and what I do, I felt less than for no good reason, other than at some point in my college years, I was told I would be judged, and that became my truth. I became that truth. Then in 2018, I heard Kelly McLaughlin give a beautiful talk all about how she built her practice around her and her family, and she said something that resonated so deeply, I've never forgotten it. All techniques are valid, all techniques work. And at that point, I realized the technique was never the problem. My comparison, my comparitis was. And here's something else I want you to remember. If all techniques are valid in the adjusting room, why on earth would it be any different when it comes to visibility? Now, there
Trust Beats Templates Every Time
SPEAKER_00are people out there who would want you to believe there is one right way to be visible. In fact, one right way to do anything, their way. But here's what they never tell you. Borrowed strategies delivered in a borrowed voice attract nobody. People can smell inauthenticity a mile off. They're not choosing you from a template, from a Canva graphic, from a stock photo, they're choosing a person or a team of people. And if the people showing up online are not the same as the people who greet them in the practice, that gap will immediately breach their trust. And that's doing you a disservice. But when the person online is the person in the practice, that builds that trust. That's when people walk through your door saying they feel like they already know you. That's trust built before they've even touched your door handle. And no template can do that for you, only you can. So let's just throw this back to last week's episode to our friend Ted Lasso, a football coach who knew nothing about football, doing everything wrong by every expert's measurements. The press laughed, the fans sang rude songs, and he just kept doing it his way, with his message. He was curious, not judgmental. He chose people over tactics, biscuits over press conferences, and his way worked because it was honestly,
Three Exercises To Find Your Way
SPEAKER_00deeply, completely his. From me to you, you do not have to dance on TikTok. You don't have to post daily, you don't have to be loud, overly polished, or everywhere at once. You have to be three things consistent, honest, and recognizably you. That's it. That is your whole list. So you may be thinking, but how do I know what my way is? How can you find your way? I'm going to give you a few little exercises to help you work out what your way actually is. And because I'd never asked you to do anything I wouldn't do myself, I'm going to try to answer them too. Firstly, notice what energizes you versus what drains you. For me, I love greeting new people, I love variety within my niche. I love a niche, I love depth of knowledge, but I love that breadth too. I love working with babies followed by um their mama and followed by someone who's pregnant, and that rhythm, that rhythm energizes me. Secondly, notice what your practice members or patients, whatever word you choose, thank you for. And this, if I'm honest, was the hardest one for me to answer. Because the thing that really sticks with me is the life-changing moments. Just this week, two people came through my door, both with debilitating things going on in their lives, very different situations, but both being really held back by them, and I could see it in their faces the minute they walked in. Both cried after being adjusted. When that shift happened, and the actual thank you was necessary, it wasn't part of it because I could see the shift in the moment. Genuinely, it brings emotion up in me too. My friend Kerry calls me a wet chiropractor, and she's not wrong. Thirdly, third exercise, notice where you naturally show up well. Start there. For me, it's video. I love answering questions. I love imagining I'm speaking to just one person. And if you're listening to this thinking, I don't naturally show up anywhere, then find the place that scares you the least. We will start there. Okay. Do those three things, and if you can do them, DM me on Instagram at Cara Visibility and let me know how you got on. Let me know what you thought, what you said,
The Only Strategy That Lasts
SPEAKER_00let me know your truths. But let's finish off here. Here is the beautiful irony of all this. Doing it your way is not the brave alternative to a good strategy. It is the best strategy because every other approach can be copied, undercut, and outspent. But nobody anywhere can compete with you being you. Which is exactly what Joe reminded me of this week. The most important person in your visibility is you. And if you want to be somewhere where doing it your way is celebrated, come and join us inside the chiropisability membership. If you want to come further into the chiropisability world, we are here for you. And get on the mailing list. Follow me on socials, come and say hello. You are always welcome. Thank you so much for being part of the chiropisibility pod where chiropractic finds its people. I will see you in the next one.
