032. Why Breastfeeding Matters For Latina Women with Ileana Berrios

Jessica Cuevas Episode 32

In this episode, we welcome Ileana Berrios, IBCLC, who is the founder of Breastfeeding Latinas.

Over the past five years, she has virtually supported breastfeeding professionals and has created programs in underrepresented communities, allowing families to receive education about prenatal and postpartum breastfeeding and/or childbirth. In addition, she has supported aspiring lactation professionals of color by providing scholarship opportunities to obtain their certification.

In this episode, you will hear:

  • The statistics about breastfeeding between childbirth and toddler years.
  • Why there is a lack of support or education for breastfeeding Latina moms.
  • The common misconceptions about breastfeeding within the Latinx community.
  • Current policies that promote breastfeeding to the Latino population.
