Everyday Warriors Moments
Exclusive access to premium content!Who are you when the uniform comes off, the titles change and the roles you’ve carried for years no longer fit? I’m taking a quieter moment today to sit with identity and the tender work of letting go of who I thought I had to be. When life shifts through loss or change, it can strip everything back and leave one uncomfortable question in its place, who am I without all of that?
I talk through the masks many of us wear across different parts of life and why it’s so easy to confuse responsibility with identity. The turning point, for me, is remembering we’re not just what we do. We’re human beings, not human doings. When the external layers fall away, what remains is your essence, and it often shows up most clearly as values. I share the four values that anchor me: kindness, integrity, communication and family, and why each one matters for rebuilding self-trust, strengthening relationships and living with steadiness in uncertain seasons.
We also explore what it looks like to come back to yourself through discernment and intuition, learning to listen to that quiet inner voice when everything outside gets loud. This becomes especially powerful in later life, particularly for women over 40, 50 or 60, when a new season invites fresh choices based on who you’re becoming, not what others expect.

Welcome And Gratitude
Trudie MarieThis is Everyday Warrior Moments. Thank you, truly, for being here and for choosing to subscribe and support the podcast. It means more than you probably realise and it allows me to keep creating these conversations and this space. This is a quieter moment between our guest episodes, a place to slow things down, to reflect and to take a breath. These episodes are just me, sharing thoughts, lessons, and gentle reminders as I continue to walk in my own journey too. So wherever you are right now, whether you're starting your day, ending it, or somewhere in between, let's take a few minutes together. Welcome to an episode of Everyday Worrior Moments. Today I want to talk about identity and more specifically, letting go of who I thought I had to be. For a long time I wore many roles: police officer, wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, and even community member. But with each of these roles came expectations, responsibilities, ways of showing up that I believed were required of me. It was like wearing different masks, you know, different versions of yourself for different environments. But over time, and even without realizing it, you often start to believe those roles are who you actually are. But here's what I've come to understand. We are not just what we do. We are not just the roles we hold. At our core, we are human beings, not human doings. But when life changes, the roles also shift, and identities are stripped back. And you're often left with that question that can feel really, really uncomfortable. Who am I without all of that? And for me, that question didn't come gently. It came through loss, change, and of having to let go parts of me that once defined me. And what I realized was this: when everything else is stripped away, everything externally, what's left is the essence of who you are, your values, the things that don't change no matter what role you're in. And for me, I can break it down to four values, and they are everything to me: kindness, integrity, communication, and family. Kindness for me is because the world needs more of it, less division, more understanding, more compassion, and definitely less comparison. It doesn't cost anything to be kind, but it can be the change for somebody else. Integrity. Because who we are is reflected in what we do. It's honoring your word, it's following through, it's being somebody others can trust. But more importantly, someone you can trust. Because knowing that if you say something, it means something. You're not broken, but you're consistent. Communication, because it's at the heart of everything, it's connection. Relationships are built, repaired, strengthened, all through communication. The conversations we avoid are often the ones that we need to have the most. And when we communicate with honesty and respect, so much can be restored. And last but not least, family. Whether that's the family you're born into or the one that you have created. Because at the end of the day, what matters most is having people around you who love you, support you, and stand beside you no matter what. Without that, what are we even doing any of this for? So I had to let go of who I thought I had to be. But it wasn't about losing myself. It was about coming back to myself, something I definitely learned walking the Bibleman track. It's about standing in your truth, respecting the opinions of others, but not being swayed from your own course. It's using discernment and trusting your own intuition. It's learning to listen to that quiet voice inside of you, even when everything else outside is really, really loud. And I think this becomes even more powerful when you enter later in life, whether you're a woman over 40, over 50, or over 60, because you enter a new season. A season where you start to ask, who am I now? What do I want? And what is it that actually matters? And maybe for the first time in a long time, you get to choose, not based on expectation and not based on who you've always been, but based on who you're becoming. So before we finish, I'd like you to take a big deep breath in and then let it go. Come back to yourself and remember, everyday warriors don't give up. They continue to rise. Thank you for being part of the Everyday Warrior community and for supporting the podcast. It really means a lot. If something in this episode stayed with you, I invite you to share it.
