Inner Spark

Lit Up by Connection: How Podcasting has Sparked My Soul

Casey Taton Season 1 Episode 17

In this Shower Sprinkle episode, I’m sharing something that’s been lighting me up lately—the true power of connection.

Podcasting has given me a front-row seat to hear real stories, raw journeys, and heart-to-heart conversations. Every time I get to sit down with a guest—or even share my own vulnerable moments—I leave feeling inspired, grateful, and alive.

But here’s the truth: I almost let fear stop me from ever starting this podcast. For a long time, I sat on the idea, too nervous to put it into the world. Yet once I finally pressed “record,” I discovered what fills me up most: deep connection.

In this episode, I open up about:

  • How being a guest on another podcast reminded me why this work lights me up.
  • The value of sharing your story, even when fear tries to hold you back.
  • Why connection—through laughter, tears, and honesty—is the spark that keeps me going.
  • An invitation to anyone feeling the nudge to use their voice and share what they love.

If you’ve ever felt that pull to start something meaningful, but fear told you “not yet,” I hope this episode reminds you that your story matters and your voice can light someone else’s world.

Hey friends. Welcome to the Enter Spark podcast. I'm your host, Casey Caton. If you're looking to hear stories of transformation and personal growth, this podcast is for you. My guest and I will be sharing those sparking moments that has changed the mental living a more fulfilling authentic life. I'm so excited for you to hear each unique story. So sit back, relax, and let's get started. Hey, friend. Welcome back to the Enter Spec podcast. I'm your host, Casey Taton. This is a shower sprinkle on really just what this podcast has done for me and how I feel about it and the value of connection. I was recently interviewed by my functional medicine doctor on his podcast, and I left there, and when I left there I felt so lit up and I was just so excited and it was just so fun, and I realized that is something that I truly value in my life. And I just felt like I was just like on this high all day long after I got to go interview on his podcast. And then a week later when I saw him, he said, I just wanted to tell you when you were on my podcast, we were recording. I have never seen you like just so confident and so. Like speaking so clearly and just really like deep connecting. And he said, it truly lights you up, doesn't it? And I was like, wow. So other people are realizing it. And for someone he sees me and you know, quite often, and he's seen me over the years. For him to say that I was just like, I, it took me back and I sit down and I really thought about what does this podcast mean for me? How does he make me feel? And one of the biggest things is I love deep connection. I truly value getting to connect with others, hearing their story, where they've been, what they've been through, and how they're making an impact on the world now. And every interview that I've done, and I have several that I still need to put out, I have just left that event feeling so inspired and so lit up, and I'm like, yes, this is what I am meant to do. I truly value deep connection. I love supporting my friends. I want everybody to know what they're doing, how they can connect with them, it just lights me up and truly is like the spark of, you know, I get to bring kids smiles in the hospital, but also in the community. Um, just, just connecting the deep connection with these people, being so v vulnerable and real and telling raw stories and. I've cried with them, I've laughed with them, and that is something that I don't take for granted at all. They're opening up to me, for something for me to share and to the world. And so I just wanna send big love to all of them. It is something that I don't take lightly. And I'm honored that every single one of them come on. I'm honored for every podcast that I've been able to go on and speak and tell my own journey and just the value of connection this. It's just been on my heart and on my mind of just checking in with my friends, checking in with my listeners, how are you feeling? How are you doing? You know, do you have a story that you wanna tell? Are you afraid to tell it? Because honestly, um. When I first started podcasting, I created a logo. I created things, I did a course. Um, and then I didn't do anything with it because I got in over my head and I was too scared and I was letting fear stop me from something that I didn't know. I just wasn't trusting the Process. And so, um, you know, my mentor, Kathy Heller, I took her course and. She was actually getting ready to launch a bootcamp. I'll tell you about that a little bit more. But going through that course, I had already had some of my podcast ideas. I was just too scared to put'em into action and I was in her course. We got put into pods and in the pod, um. And you have heard from some of my pod sisters, if you've listened to my episode, I encourage you to go listen to it. My pod sisters and I, we recorded on my friend Kaya's podcast and then we all shared it and it was really just talking about the connection and midlife and, if you haven't listened to it, go back to my podcast and it's called, sisterhood and Midlife. And that's truly what we are. I am so grateful and thankful for those ladies. I've got to know them on a completely different, different level, and it's grown outside of just podcasting. Every single one of us are so still putting a podcast out. But more importantly, we've, we're growing together in every area of our life and sharing real life experiences with each other and supporting each other. I needed that to the little push to go forward. I am forever just so grateful for every single one of them that I still get to connect weekly with them. And I'm grateful for my listeners. Um, I. You know, I always say reach out. If something resonated, leave me a review. Go rate my podcast. That way it hits more people. But when I first started launching this podcast, my goal was really to tell my journey, my story and connect with people. And I was like, if I touch one person a day. Then I'm doing it. That's what I'm doing it for, right? Just one person. And when people reach out to me, it is one of the best feelings in the world of like, Hey, I wanna thank you for putting that out. I, I took this away from it and it helped me get through this. Or I could really relate in this way and. Getting those, receiving those compliments and those things is like, yeah, that's why I listen to others podcasts and I'm glad that I could share something and sometimes it's just vulnerable things from my heart of what's happening, what I'm going through, It just really expands my heart so much to hear from the listeners and then be able to say like, Hey, thank you. I needed to hear that I needed that reminder. It's just so powerful and just the connection that just really sparks my life and really lights me up. And so that was my shower sprinkle today of. You know, I let fear step in my way for a little while, and when I finally launched, it was scary. And I'm gonna be honest, there's some episodes that I put out that I get a little nervous about, right? Um, there's some powerful people I've interviewed and I'm like a little nervous, but when you get to talking, we're just two humans having a human experience. You know, and we're just sharing from the bottom of our hearts and it just, I've never done one where I felt ick. I've always laughed, cried, you know, just deep connected and got to hear their story and their journey, and that's what life is about. So just really connecting with something you love, doing something you love and. If I were to let fear stop me, I wouldn't be where I am today. Sharing these episodes and just being able to speak from my heart, openly, from my heart to your heart, just sharing messages and, you know, allowing others to come on and share their transformation and their story and how they look at the world now. Just how we can continue to grow together and make this world just such a better place and see light in the world of where we hadn't saw it before and just hear other people's journeys and it, it is just, it just really lights my soul up. I really just wanted to check in with my listeners. Just say, Hey, I'm here. I love your feedback. I'm listening. I read the reviews and from the bottom of my heart, I thank you. Thanks for connecting with me. Thanks for listening. And I just encourage someone, if you are looking into podcasting, if you ever thought I, you know, maybe I wanna create a podcast,, about something you love, about anything you love, my coach, my mentor, Kathy Heller, is launching a free three day podcast bootcamp, and it's starting, um, actually this Monday, August 18th. Um, it is free. I encourage you to go sign up if you can't make the lives. She has a replay and there is a Facebook group already open for it. And there are so many beautiful people in there already connecting and just making relationships because they have this idea that they wanna step into. You know, something is telling them, go share what you love. It's a nudge. And if that nudge doesn't go away and should probably listen to it and start sharing your voice and starts sharing what lights your light, what lights your world up? So, um, I will leave you guys with that. Um, the shower sprinkle on just deep connection and what all this podcast has done for me. It's grown me in so many areas of my life and just. You know, I've tried new things. I've got to listen to new conversations, look at things in a different way, and just genuinely connect with others and it lights soul up. So I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I will put Kathy Hiller's link for her podcasting bootcamp that is starting on this Monday in the show notes so you can find it. If it's ever been a nudge on your heart, I tell you, go for it. It's free. There's nothing to lose. And the world needs to hear more positive, more people's voices and what lights other people up and that could be you, my friend. So if fear is holding you back, please, please stop it right now. It's your turn. The world needs to hear beautiful voices and I am so grateful that, I get to share mine I as I close out the shower, sprinkle, I just wanna tell you guys, thank you for all the connections, for listening, for sharing. All of you that take the time to share my podcast. It means the world to me. Every person that I've had on my podcast and every. Interview I've done and every podcast that I've got to be on is really dear to my heart and I am so grateful for all the deep connections. So if you have a journey, a story, something you love, something you like to talk about, come join the podcast, bootcamp, or get with me. Let's connect. I'm always looking for more guests and I am stepping into, I really wanna share my journey on stages My own story and how life doesn't have to look one way. You get to choose every bit of it. And I value connection in my life, and that is another way I get to connect with people. I will get to connect with people. And that will be something that, I'm looking forward to. It's scary, but taking another step. So go do something that's outta your comfort zone today. Go connect with someone and yeah, reach out to me. Thanks. Feel the same to my shower. Sprinkle I.
