4 Decades to 40 : A Messy Creative Journey
In this episode, part two of "Four Decades to 40: A Tribute to My 40th," we dive into the messy creative journey of Rubi Z from her high school days to becoming a photographer.
In 2002, when she graduated from high school, creativity wasn't celebrated as it is today. Rubi reflects on the lack of encouragement and the societal pressure to pursue conventional paths. Despite this, she felt a spark whenever she encountered creativity, but struggled to find her direction amidst various interests.
After trying different paths, including pursuing fashion design and attending trade school for fashion, financial constraints forced her to reassess. It wasn't until becoming a mother and feeling the desire to stay home with her son that Rubi's creative journey took a new turn.
With a newfound purpose, Rubi ventured into photography, despite not owning a camera at the time. Through a series of God-given events, she found herself starting her own photography business, which ultimately allowed her to stay home with her son.
The journey wasn't easy. Rubi faced doubts, financial struggles, and the challenge of transitioning from a hobbyist mindset to that of a serious entrepreneur. However, photography became more than just a job—it became a tool for self-discovery and connection with others.
Throughout the ups and downs, Rubi emphasizes the messy nature of the creative process and the importance of support and belief from loved ones. She encourages parents to nurture their creative children's potential and spouses to stand by their entrepreneurial partners.
In the next episode, Rubi will delve deeper into the personal and professional challenges she faced and the importance of healing on the journey to success. Get ready for a candid and inspiring exploration of the intertwined paths of creativity and entrepreneurship.
