Hello and welcome to the investor evolution podcast. Today's going to be an interesting one because we are going to be talking. About the Jake Paul. Mike Tyson fight. And I know nothing about boxing. But when I was watching this event, This production. It made me think a lot about this entrepreneurial journey that a lot of us are on and I had a lot of takeaways. So I wanted to share those with you. So, first of all, I started looking into who is Jake Paul? I honestly, last night I was, I texted my husband on my way home from work. Said I'm on my way. And he said, I'm going to watch the Paul Tyson fight. Obviously I had heard about it. But I never really looked into it. I had no idea who Jake Paul was. And so looking into him a little bit, Here's what I found out. So. In 2013, he started posting videos on an app called vine. Also something I've never heard of, but he amassed 5 million followers on there with over 2 billion views on that app. So he has been working, whatever that means, posting videos, whatever that content looks like. Then he moved to a YouTube channel with his brother and they post prank videos. He apparently. Does music videos. So he's an entertainer, a singer. I don't know if he writes all his songs, but very interesting. Right. And so on YouTube, he has over 20 million followers. And one of his music videos has over 300 million views. So he has been around since 2013. Now he started boxing in 2018. And sounds like this was something that he was passionate about and wanted to pursue. Sounds like he's also known Mike Tyson for years. And very interesting. That this is the path that he chose, but he started boxing in 2018. He made his professional debut in 2020. Okay. And it, from what I could find, he challenged Mike Tyson in 2022 to this fight. And I just think this whole thing is so fascinating. So what are takeaways that I have as an entrepreneur? And I would love to hear yours as a, well, put those down in the comments. I would love to hear when you think about this whole. Thing that happened, this, this thing that culminated in this big fight. Last night, cause I'm recording this on November 16th happened on November 15th. You know, what are your takeaways from this? So some things that I think about. When I'm thinking about what happened, what transpired, how we got to that point. The first takeaway I have is what you think about you bring about when you focus on something. A goal, a vision. And you work towards it. It becomes reality. This is fascinating to me. So in my research this morning, again, guys, I know nothing about boxing. I knew nothing about this fight before yesterday. And so just looking into it. What I found is he went. Down to south America. For an Ayahuasca ceremony. And during this first Ayahuasca trip, he had this vision. of fighting Mike Tyson. I've heard other places though, that this was something he's dreamed up before. And I wonder if it was something that like, how cool would it be if I fought Mike Tyson? And then when he's had this Ayahuasca trip and this vision. It like cemented it in his brain of this is something that's possible. Like I can see it unfolding and. From that. Time on. He called Mike Tyson. Apparently they're friends. They've they. Spend time together. Um, and he said, Hey, I had this vision. And they agreed to this fight. What I think is fascinating about this. A couple of things. So one, he had this vision, he could see himself. Fighting Mike Tyson. And winning. And that vision became so clear in his mind, this future reality that he wanted to pursue it. He wanted it to happen in, in real life. And. What he thought about, he brought about, so over the next two years, so it sounds like this challenge happened sometime in 2022 and over the next two years. It became a reality now. He didn't just say, Hey, I want to fight Mike Tyson. And it happened. Uh, two years passed, right. They both worked trained, prepared for this moment. And so there is that vision of what you want to happen. And then there's the work that goes into preparing. Planning. And making it happen. So there is the thought and they action. It's combined that have to happen. In order. For this to come about. And I just think it's so cool that he pursued it right. First of all Mike Tyson is 58 years old. So when he challenged him, he was 56. So I was 58 years old. He hasn't fought since 2005. So this vision of fighting Mike Tyson. Didn't necessarily seem like a reality seemed like something that could happen. But he asked the question, are you up for it? Are you willing to do this? And. You know, the answer is always no. If you don't ask. And so how cool is it that he pursued it? I think that's, that's something that we all has entrepreneurs. Should really remember if it's something that like inspires you. You're excited by. Even though it's never been done. Or it seems so outlandish. The answer is always no, if you don't ask pursue it, if it's something that you want and deep down in your soul, you're like, This would be so amazing. Go for it. I think. I think it is such an inspiration to me of what he did. Like I said, I have no idea who. Who he was. Um, but it's, it's just fascinating to me. That he had this vision and he chased that dream. And I love that. I think it's awesome. So number two thing. That sticks out to me. Is. That it takes a village. Who is coming with you, who is supporting you on this journey? Right? Jake, Paul, didn't just say, I want to fight Mike Tyson and it happened. It took again two years, right. It took training. So he has a team behind him. Pushing him training him, teaching him he's learning boxing. He's still new to this sport. As of 2018. So, you know, there's professional fighters who have been fighting. For years. Right? And so for him to go from 2018 to 2024, And fight Mike Tyson. A lot of work had to go into it. A lot of. Family, a lot of support with his team. And it sounds like he had been fighting and maybe even changed teams. You know, and then I think about. His followers who are supporting him and encouraging him on this journey. And then. When it comes to the big, the main event, right? Netflix came along, um, MVP, which is most valuable promotions, which is for boxing. They came along and support. And none of this would have happened if he didn't have the team with him. Right. It's really the who. Not the how, who is coming with you, who is supporting you, who are those team members that you need? In order to take it to the next level. So that's the other thing I think about with this. Who are the people that are your support system in your business and your entrepreneurial journey who's coming with you. Are they the right people? Do you need to change out? Maybe you're on a team. Maybe you're working with a team. It just. It isn't quite working. Is it okay to switch and change it up and find the team that's going to be your rocket fuel to take off. Yes. It's okay. Find those people that you are meant to work with, uh, and, and pursue that goal with. And when you find the right fit, I think it does accelerate your journey. So I think that one was really fun. Also number three. Success takes time. But maybe not as long as you think. So he's been this public figure. Jake, Paul's been this public figure since 2013. And then, and probably back then, he wasn't a figure, right? A public figure. He was just starting out. I think if I understand the math, right. He's 27. Now that was 11 years ago. He was 16 when you started. So when he started posting at 16, Did he think at that point? But he was going to fight Mike Tyson in probably the biggest televised event in history. I don't know if it history, but on Netflix, right? This public sporting event. It's crazy. So, what could he, what did he accomplish in that? 11 years. So much, but it took time, right. He didn't start and then, and, you know, get to here and I think. When we look at him. And look at this journey. You know, cause like I said, I didn't know who this guy was and really until yesterday and this morning when I started researching him, So it seems like, man, he's this overnight success. No, he's not. It took him 11 years to get where he's going. But what I think this is, is very encouraging to the rest of us, of what can happen when we are digging in to our journey and putting in the work, what can happen in. 10 years, what can happen in five years? What could happen in three years when we just keep working? And I think there is a lot of. Revising. Iteration. And changing and evolving into the person that you're meant to be. And those goals may change over time. I don't think when he started in 2013, he thought he was going to turn into this professional boxer. You know, in 2018, so five years he started pursuing boxing. And again, Y'all can, Educate me on why the background behind that. But I think it's just. So awesome that he pursued his goals, probably in spite of what other people were telling him in spite of. You know, the image that maybe others thought that he should have. And he went for something that he loves, he enjoys and pursued this vision. And. I love that. This success has come. To him. It was drawn to him because of the work, because of the work he put in. For the training for boxing starting in 2018 until now. He has done a lot of work day in and day out training. And I want to encourage you as an entrepreneur. You're day in, day out in your business. You are day in and day out putting in the work. Do you have that vision, that crystal clear vision of where you want to go? Is it evolving as you reached the next level? Do you see how far you can go and how much you can level up? If not, I want you to start vision casting. Ed Mylett calls it vision casting, future casting. Uh, pursuing these bigger goals, these bigger dreams. And if you think about it, like. Stairsteps, um, confirmation, when you start. Building confidence. And you start, you put in the work and you achieve a goal. It's like confirmation that you can, you can do it. And I feel like that almost propels you to bigger things. And it's like, stair-stepping your way up. And as you're building your confidence, you. Pursue bigger goals, harder goals. And when you achieve that harder goal, that's what builds that confidence. And. I think of it as looking back as this stair step, this ladder of proof. That you can do hard things that you can pursue. Crazy incredible goals and you can achieve them. And I really think watching this journey again, seeing what he started out, Jake Paul started out as, and what he. Created. It's incredible what he did in the last two years, even. And I think it's like this acceleration, there's probably a lot of like hard stuck. You feel like nothing's making progress and then it just takes off. And I think for him, that's what has happened. Right. We're seeing. I'm seeing this. Elevated state. But it's been building for a long time. And over the last couple of years, you know, it, it has been increasing. This brings me to my next point. Where. The joy is in the journey. Now we're all seeing and hearing lots of things about how the fight went and how it was disappointing. And, you know, how. Everyone was hoping Mike Tyson would knock him out and, you know, they went eight rounds, all, all the things. I actually don't think. Any of this had to do with the outcome. I don't think he was pursuing this. For the outcome. Obviously he's a big talker and likes to stir the pot. And create that controversy, which one is a great marketing technique. Two he knows what he's doing and marketing that and creating that. Those those feelings that are coming up for people, right? Because Mike Tyson is this legend. And, you know, he's known for his powerful punch and for being able to take a hit. And. When we think of Mike Tyson, we think of him. You know, in 2005, right. Or earlier. And, when he was the undisputed champion, I think it was from like, 1988 and all on. I forget the exact dates, but you know, we think of him back in the day when he was the most powerful. And I think we all thought. He's he's that person's going to show up. But for Jake Paul, I do wonder, I don't know that it was the outcome that what he was looking for. It was the joy of the journey of getting to that point of pursuing his dreams. Of standing. In the ring with Mike Tyson. Toe to toe man-to-man. And taking punches and throwing punches. That I think I hope was what he was so excited for. Just that opportunity. to See what it was like to, to be in that ring to feel the energy. Of that stadium, there was like 72,000 people there live. How crazy was that? Four. For that to come together. The joy in the journey of getting to that point. And that culmination of pursuing his dreams. I think that's the moment that. At least for me, I would have been most excited for. It was because at that point you can't dictate the outcome. Right? You just put into play. You put in the work. And you let it unfold as it does. And I. I love that thought of just when he first. Kind of stepped into the ring. Before Mike Tyson gets there and he was kind of running around. And. I said to my husband and I was like, he's just like soaking up this moment. You know, all of that hard work that had. Led up to that moment. Like that. I think was the joy that he was. At least for me, but like, I would have been like so ecstatic about, because the fight itself. Wasn't really. Maybe the point, the point was just being able to get in the ring with Mike Tyson. And I think that's really cool. And so as we think about this journey for ourselves, whatever the goal is, whatever the thing is that we're striving for. When we get there. If we haven't enjoyed. The journey there. It's going to feel unfulfilled.. There's going to be a let down. And so I want to encourage you now as you're pursuing your dreams and your goals. Be present in the moment. Be present with what you're doing to achieve those goals. Because when you look back, you're going to be so excited. For the amazing things that you did along the way to get where you're going. And I think that feeling is what we're all striving for, that, that feeling of striving, that feeling of chasing the dream. That's what's important. And that's what. Gets us up in the morning. Not the end goal. And so the joy really is in the journey and I hope you're pursuing that. Each day. And then the last thing that I was thinking about. Is the ripple effect that occurred because he chose to chase this dream. So when Jake Paul said, I'm going to fight Mike Tyson. I think it inspired a lot of people, but think about all the things that came about because he chose to chase his dream. So one of the cool things that happened was the co main event with the women's boxers. So Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano. Those two women were put on a platform. That was incredible. 70 plus thousand people in that stadium cheering for them. What an incredible ripple effect because Jake Paul decided to chase a dream of fighting Mike Tyson. And what an empower, what a powerful platform. To inspire others into boxing or whatever. Sport of their choice to inspire women to pursue their dreams. Because, because. Jake Paul decided to chase this dream. The ripple effect that he created, I think is massive. And when I think about it, it's so inspiring to me. Because I think about Netflix, um, and what they're now doing. This may be where they start televising other sporting events. And then we think of. The most valuable promotions who was also helping support women's boxing and bring that up. Um, but think about all the other. People who are involved in bringing. That event. And who also benefited. So, of course there's the trainers. Um, the team that helped train both Jake Paul. And Mike Tyson for this event. But I think about. Um, like they talked about Jake Paul's wardrobe and his million dollar outfit. So the ripple effect to those designers. Gas monkey garage. Designed and created the car that he rolled out in. They benefited from this event. He all the different things that have come about who are supported. Who. Benefited because he chased his dreams. And for us as entrepreneurs, who's benefiting because you are chasing your dream. Who are you bringing along? Kind of goes back to the who, not how, and, um, you know, taking a village for you to get to your dreams. But those other people who are supporting you, they benefit from what you're doing. So who is benefiting from you, chasing your dream? And I think the bigger question. Is. If you don't chase your dream, who's missing out on fulfilling some of their goals. Who are you not helping? Because you decided not to chase your goals. So when you feel like giving up, when you feel like, oh, this is so hard, am I even doing the right thing? Remember that, that ripple effect that is created by you chasing your dreams is so much bigger than you and probably. You will never even know the true distance that, that ripple effects. I think that's really powerful. And it gives me goosebumps to think about that because it really is amazing. What we can create when we put our minds to it. When we see that vision, when we see that big goal. And we go for it. So, I guess. Let me, let me recap a little bit. So takeaways that I had from this crazy event. Was what you think about you bring about when you have a clear vision of what you want and you work towards it, it will happen. It takes a village. Who's coming along with you. Who is your support system? And who is helping you achieve your goals? We are not successful on our own. We all need others to help us achieve those goals., Success takes time. There's no such thing as an overnight success, but it may happen a lot quicker than you could have expected. And I think it really is. It feels like it takes a long time. And then there's just this acceleration. But you have to get to the acceleration and you don't know when that's going to happen. So keep digging in, keep going, keep working for those goals. Cause eventually. As long as you don't stop, you will hit that acceleration phase. I guarantee it. And then number four, there is joy in the journey. It isn't about the destination. If you make it about the process, the experience as you're going along. I think you will find so much more fulfillment. In those moments when you do achieve the success and then number five, The ripple effect that you create because you are chasing your goals, ripples out to others and allows others to pursue and chase their goals and achieve their dreams too. So I think this was such an incredible event. Uh, like I said, It it's, it's fascinating to me. What, what transpired and. It's just really inspirational to me, even though I knew nothing about it. Really going into it yesterday. But it really is inspiring to me. And. Is a huge reminder that. I can chase my dreams. I can chase my goals. And I can catch them. If I keep pursuing them. So I want to encourage you guys today, keep chasing after those dreams and whatever you think about you can bring about our you guys until next week.
