Hey everyone. And welcome to the investor evolution podcast. Today's episode will air on December 2nd. And as we enter the last month of the year, A lot of stuff is going to be going on. You're going to be prepping for the holiday. You're going to be decorating the house. If you haven't already, some people decorated right after Halloween. Uh, you're going to be having holiday parties and getting together with friends and family which is awesome. And I want you to be able to take that time and enjoy family and friends and the joy of the season. Now. Before we get to all of that. And before we get to 2025, We want to set our intention for 2025. If you get to January 1st, and you're just starting to think about what you want the new year to look like. It's not that it's too late, but you won't be heading into the year with momentum. And so I want you to take this time, this month to reflect on 2024, what went well, what could have been better? And think about using that as a springboard for your 2025. So I want to give you a little framework to work off of, and I'll give you some downloads or a PDF worksheet that you can use to help guide you as you set those intentions for 2025, as you work on your goals and your vision for the new year. So first thing I want you to do is to reflect back on 2024. It's it's important to look back on where you've been this past year. And how far you've come. As you begin future casting and looking ahead to the new year. So I want you to start with your gratitude for how amazing this year has been. Even if it isn't where you thought it was going to be in your business or some of the milestones that you were hoping you were going to hit. Even if you didn't make them, you're still farther ahead than you were. And if you crushed those goals, make sure you celebrate! Get that feeling in your body. Because you want to use that again, as momentum to carry you into the new year. So I want to make sure that you're setting intentional goals for the new year. And I want you to have clarity and purpose, not just goals. You know, we want to make sure that you're approaching these goals with a purpose with a vision. And. Make sure that they are crystal clear. So you know where you're going to go. If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there. Right? So you want to have a crystal clear vision of what you want to do. So as you start to reflect on this past year, I want you to think about the wins, things that were like huge wins for you. What are you celebrating? What are you so excited about? And what are the accomplishments that you've made? Maybe this is in business. Maybe this is in life. Maybe this is with family. Whatever it may be. And I also want you to look at those challenges and those lessons learned. And ask yourself some questions. So what are you most proud of this year? What are you so thankful that you accomplished? When you think about those challenges or the lessons learned. What skills did you learn because you went through that challenge? What character traits or character development did you begin to hone because you went through those difficult situations? How are you a better person because of it? And I want you to think about that in terms of what are the things that you want to work on in the new year? And we'll get to those here in a second, but, as you think about the things that you've learned, the person that you've become over the past year. What are things that you want to work on moving forward? That might also help prepare you for vision casting for the year ahead. So the next thing I want you to think about doing you, you might like this. If you're a visual person, this may be a very good exercise for you, because if you can see it, you can believe it. Uh, I, I like vision boards. I've also heard the term action board. And so we'll talk a little bit about that. So on a vision board, what you're going to do is you're going to visualize the things that you want to see happen in your life. What you want to create, what you want your life to be like and find pictures that represent that. So one of the ones that I made, um, like for example, Um, health. So I pictured this as. An older woman on the beach. And that for me was longevity. Good food. Good nutrition. Exercise. Those are the things that I want to, improve upon in my life. And so those are things that I put on my vision board. And I want you to think about that maybe, you think about the different components of your life that you want to work on? Maybe it's health and wellness. Maybe it's spiritual life. Maybe it's your financial life, your job, your career, maybe it's family, maybe it's travel and adventure. Whatever's important to you. Put that on your vision board. And start casting that vision of where you want your life to be in the next 12 months. And what you, when you sit back and reflect on December 2025. And you look back at the boards that you created and the things that you thought about, how close are you to that person? How close are you to accomplishing those goals? That's really what we're working for. Now, you can do an action board component to this. This combines a vision with actionable steps. So for example, let's say you have this dream vacation on your vision board. So maybe that's on your vision board and then the action item is saving$500 a month to go towards that vacation. Or something like that. Maybe it's your exercise goals working out five days a week. And putting that on there, something that you can check and say, yep, that's what I'm doing. And that helps hold you accountable to this vision. And it gives you a path to do it. Okay. Another example of something that you can do for the year to set your intentions, is to choose a word of the year. I have done this previously. And this past year was the first time I actually wrote it down. And then I created a little visual cue for it. Clearly, I'm highly visual. And so my word for 2024 was expansion. And when I think about it, and I think about where, where I was in January of 2024 and where I am right now. I have expanded tremendously, especially in entrepreneurship, but not only there spiritually, as well as in my personal development. With my family. And a lot of these areas. Now I will say, one of the things that happened is this little guy got buried. And I forgot about it for a little bit. So. My goal this year is to have it in a place where I see it every day. And that really is the key. These goals are great when you start setting them. But if you're not looking at them every day and tracking your progress towards those goals. Their dreams. So we don't do dream boards. We do vision boards. We do goal boards. We do action boards. Cause we're working towards these things. Now on this one for my word of the year Expansion, 2024. I had different categories. So I had. Personal, physical, career/entrepreneur. Recreation/travel. Financial, family. Mental health and then spiritual growth. So those were the categories I used. You can pick whatever categories you want. And I just found a great little template on canva. And that's what I used. And so now that I have this template, I'm just going to reuse it for this next year as I pick my word for the year. So with that word of the year, I want you to think about. that word and I want it to be an intention for the entire year. So I want you to think about what do you want to feel? Or embody in the new year? What do you want to create? Or how do you want to show up? In this new year. And what do you want to work towards? Maybe what is a word that inspires you to show up as your best self? Maybe it's a word that creates a feeling of accomplishment. Abundance success, whatever that might be. I want you to use a word that you feel deeply connected to? When I think of expansion, I think of this limitless person this, this expanded being, and I will tell you, what's interesting is. When I was in a situation where I felt like everything was scarcity and cramped and tight. It felt so closed. And once I got into a space where I felt like everything expanded. Right. Feels so open and it feels like an area of possibility. And so for me, when I thought about expansion, back at the beginning of the year. You know, I wanted to grow and expand. But now I see it so much bigger and so I want, I want you to find a word that truly inspires you to level up, to grow in to someone new. All right. So a goal setting framework that you can use, whether you're doing this with your vision board, or if you're really just writing these out. We've all heard of smart goals. And if you haven't no worries. This was a new word to me a couple of years ago, but smart goals are. Specific. Measurable. Achievable. Relevant and time-bound so S M A R T specific measurable, achievable, relevant, and time bound. What I would encourage you to do is start with the big goals. Start with the big goals for your year. What do you want to accomplish in the next year? And maybe you need to go out to three years, five years, somewhere in that range to really start getting a big picture of this. And then you reverse engineer it. Okay. If I want to be here in a year. What do I need to do? Every month. What do I need to do? I guess we'd go quarter. What do we need to do in the month? What do we need to do every week? What do we need to do every day? Those kinds of things. You kind of work your way back. And then you can apply those smart goals to each of those little chunks. So in a year, here's my big goal. That's time bound. It's gotta be specific. You gotta be able to measure it. It's achievable. Yes, but I want you to stretch because if every goal is achievable you're probably not pushing yourself hard enough. And you're never going to see what you're truly made of So define your big goals for career for your finances, for your health. And then set those smaller, actionable steps or milestones that you can start targeting. One example, I was. Was given when we were talking about goals is the idea of a sailboat. And when you're in a sailboat in, you are headed towards a destination. You have to keep your eye on that destination. So let's say we're going from this port to that port and you can see it. You have to keep your eye on that destination. You're going to make moves and you're going to course correct. As you go, but you have to know where you're going in order to be able to get there. So making sure you have the ability to, to see where you're going and have that plan laid out is really the whole purpose of this. Now, if you're tracking your progress. You might need to sit down and think. Okay. Here is my. Let's say health and fitness goal. How am I going to track this progress? If I'm going to work out five days a week, do I need a calendar that I can check off. So that, you know, you're keeping track of it and you can see if you're getting off course and you need to course correct. There's no right or wrong. It's just a matter of. making sure you're guiding yourself to the goal that you said you want it to achieve. So there are lots of things that can help you track depending on what it is that you're doing. If you don't track it, And it's not measured. You're just going to forget about it and you're going to end up in December of 2025 being like, huh? I thought I wanted to do more, but I just didn't get it done. Why? Because, you know, if you're not tracking it. You may not get there. Now, one thing I do want to. Share with you. That I think we all know, but I guess I want to. Remind you that. Your goals may change. Life may change. You may evolve and you may decide that, okay, this is where I thought I was going in my business. And some other opportunity came along and it's not just shiny object syndrome. Maybe there's something in the market and you need to shift or pivot a little bit. That's okay. It's okay to change. It's okay. To shift and pivot. But it's not okay to quit. Right. We want to just keep moving forward and make sure we're striving for those lofty goals. Another thing that can help as you're thinking about those goals for the year is making sure that your goals. Align with your values. So what truly matters to you? Are you trying to make money? Just have money in the bank. Or are you trying to pursue this entrepreneurship goal because you want to make sure that you provide for your kids and they have opportunities that maybe you didn't growing up. Maybe you want to make sure that you have ample resources so that you can take care of your family, but yet also have some time freedom and some flexibility so that you guys can travel more. Whatever that might be. What are your values? It may be a core value to you and maybe to your family. And you may want to include your family in this goal setting time as well. And let them share with you what they want to do this year because it might open your eyes to what they've been thinking about and bring you guys closer together as a family. Another thing to think about. Uh, when we talk about our values is making sure that you are setting time for yourself, right? As entrepreneurs the work never ends and it's all your work, but I want you to make sure you are taking time for yourselves so that you don't get burned out and just be like, I quit. I'm going to go back to that W2. We don't want you to be there, so make sure you're taking regular time for yourself to. give yourself some self care and replenish, refresh rest. So that you can keep going. What I want you to do today is start thinking about this. You've got this month to really take the time to reflect on it, to plan for 2025 and what you want this year to look like. So I want you to, again, Start by reflecting on the year past. On 2024, what went well? What was a challenge? What do we need to refine? What were the wins? What were the accomplishments? What are we celebrating? Where was the growth in our life? What were the characteristics that we built because of those challenges? And if you're going to do a vision board, some people like to do that hands-on cutting stuff out of magazines. So if you're going to do it that way, awesome. I love that idea. Make sure you start gathering those things. that you can use for it. If you use Canva, there's a gazillion different templates on there that you can use. That would be really helpful. If you're going to do a word for the year, I want you to start reflecting on that and thinking about that. And find something that excites you, that propels you forward. That makes you want to move forward and to harness the power of that word. Taking the time to write down your goals, using that smart goal type method. It's it's always a good idea to take the big goal and reverse engineer. Break it down to those smaller parts. So that we get to those smaller, actionable items, that feel like, okay, I can, I can do those. And then what happens? They start stacking on each other new stack win upon win upon win and sooner or later you're going to hit that big goal. Thank you guys so much for tuning in today. I want to encourage you that the new year ahead is like a fresh piece of paper and you have the ability to write your own story. You have the ability to create the life that you want to live. So I want you to take the time to craft the story. And prepare yourself for this year ahead so that you get to write the masterpiece of your life and it's done with intention and it doesn't just happen. But you are creating you are a future. All right guys, until next time have a good one.
