Good morning everyone. For those of you who are tuning in on YouTube, you can tell I'm in a different spot. Uh, as of this recording, I am soaking up the incredible beauty of the big island of Hawaii. It has got me thinking. About something that we don't talk about nearly enough, and that's taking time away. Now, back in December, we talked about strategic rest, but I wanted to expand upon that. Now is spring break time, the time where the kids get to take their breaks, and I thought that was good for us to talk about it. As entrepreneurs, whether you're running a business, raising a family, or just grinding through demanding career, stepping away to rest. And recharge can feel almost impossible. But the truth is it's not. It's not just a luxury. It really is a necessity. Now, why does this matter? We often feel guilty or unproductive when we take. Breaks. But the reality is it is really essential for our creativity to help with problem solving as well as our overall wellbeing. So today I wanna share with you why making time for yourself is not just a break from work, but an investment in your success. When you're constantly caught up in the grind, it's easy to forget that your mind and your body do need downtime to recharge and perform at your best, just like an athlete needs that rest time. So do you as an entrepreneur. So let's talk about some of the benefits of taking time away. Number one, improved creativity and problem solving. Studies show that stepping away from work allows your brain to make new connections and come up with creative solutions. Have you ever been. Sitting, relaxing and something that you have been thinking about working on, trying to figure out. All of a sudden it comes to you. You, the solution comes to you. When you have that downtime, it gives your brain the space that it needs to process ideas, to think innovatively and to come up with those solutions. Number two, increase productivity. Although it may sound counterintuitive by working without breaks, that leads to burnout and diminished performance. Taking time away refreshes your mental clarity and boosts efficiency. When you return, you know how you come back from a vacation and you're ready to go. That time away really does recharge you. Number three, emotional and mental wellbeing. As we know, taking breaks, reduces stress, lowers our cortisol levels and promotes better mood and mental health. So my family got here a day before I did. I had to work an extra day before I could come, but as soon as I got onto the island, it was just this feeling of relaxation, a feeling of decompression and just a, a better outlook, a better feeling in my body. And it didn't take long. It took less than 24 hours just getting onto the island. Getting into the rhythm of vacation was enough to feel that decompression. When you are well rested and mentally refreshed, you're better equipped to handle the challenges and setbacks that your life and business throw at you. While on the big island, I had an incredible opportunity to meet, one of the investors I've known virtually for a while in one of our groups, and he and his partners have purchased a retreat center on the big island, and my family and I were able to go down there, meet with him. I get to meet him in person, get to know him a little bit better, and he was able to share with us the vision that he has for that retreat center. It's gonna take a lot of work. But being able to see this place that I've heard him talk about now for several months and being able to be there and be a part of it and see what the vision is, was, was really exciting for me. And it did a couple of things for me. A couple of the takeaways from being with Jason and the tour well, was he talked about. His own perspective of being here, being able to spend time, uh, recharging and resting. He's working hard, don't get me wrong. But there's, there is just something about, this place for sure that is recharging. It's interesting that we can work hard, but still rest well even on a day-to-day basis. So that was a big takeaway. Being here on the Big Island has been such a powerful reminder to me that unplugging is essential. It's not just we should do it, it's essential for our wellbeing and for not just for my own wellbeing, but for my family and for my work as well. I'm noticing how stepping away is giving me a new perspective on some of the things that I've been thinking about. It's given me renewed energy and just a huge sense of gratitude and a deeper sense of gratitude for the things that I have, the things that I'm working towards. All of that has been just a nice time of reflection. So per perspective shift for you, sometimes you do need to step back to be able to see the big picture and realign your priorities. Reconnecting with joy. Here's another thing When you take this time and vacation, whether it's just sitting and enjoying the sunrise or the sunset, exploring new places or just taking time to breathe really does fuel your soul and just gives you a, a greater sense of enjoyment and gratitude for, for where you are in your life. Okay. You know, it wouldn't be me without some action steps. So here's my challenge for you. Schedule some intentional time away, whether that's a weekend, whether it's a day, maybe it's even just an hour where you unplug and recharge. Some ideas that you can think about, plan a mini getaway or a stay staycation as we call'em, even just a day trip, can make a difference and set boundaries with your time. No emails, no work calls. Put the phone away. Take a digital holiday, a device holiday, get rid of all those things and just be present and reflect on how taking time away impacts your energy, your creativity, and your mood. So remember, taking time off isn't selfish or lazy. It is an investment in your long-term success. You can't pour from an empty cup, and sometimes the best way to move forward is to actually take that step back. So have you taken time off recently? And if so, how did it impact your mindset and your productivity? I'd love to hear your thoughts, share in the comments, or reach out to me directly. I would love to know how taking that step back helped actually move you forward. And if you found this episode helpful, make sure to subscribe and share it with someone who could use a reminder to slow down and recharge. Alright, friends. Until next time, I'll be back on the mainland. Have a good one.
