Kimberly Hoyt: EMBR Mornings

The Hidden Cost of Procrastination You Never Knew 9/4/25

Kimberly Hoyt

Sometimes the hardest part of courage isn’t the leap itself — it’s admitting we’ve been avoiding it altogether. In today’s EMBR Mornings reflection, Kimberly shares the mantra: “I face what I’ve been avoiding.”

Drawing from Jonah’s story, we see how running in the opposite direction doesn’t bring peace — it brings storms, both around us and within us. Avoidance may look like movement, but it drains more energy than taking faithful action.

✨ Key benefit: You’ll leave today’s pause reminded that naming what you’re avoiding — and taking one small step toward it — brings freedom, clarity, and courage.

At EMBR Mornings, we believe every woman carries an ember within her. Through daily, faith-centered reflections, we help you move from autopilot into intention, building mornings that are soulful, grounding, and doable.

Sometimes the hardest part of courage isn't the leap, it's admitting you've been avoiding the jump all together. Welcome to EMBR Mornings where we take a deep breath together with that first sip of coffee, ground ourselves before the day takes off. Today's mantra or thought of the day is, I face what I've been avoiding. Let's talk about Jonah. Jonah avoided the command that God asked of him to go to Nineveh. Instead of stepping into obedience, he ran in the opposite direction, filling his time with movement that may have looked like progress, but was of course avoidance. It wasn't until he surrendered and obeyed God that the storm calmed, both around him and within him. The heaviness wasn't only in the calling itself, it was in running from it as well. Avoidance drains more energy than action. Where are you avoiding courage right now? Name it and take one small concrete step towards it today. Let's EMBR the day ahead with the freedom that comes from facing what's been holding us back. I'll see you back here tomorrow and we'll explore how faith can fuel courage, and moments you feel most unsteady. See you tomorrow.
