Kimberly Hoyt: EMBR Mornings

How Faith Makes You Brave Every Day 9/5/25

Kimberly Hoyt

Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes it’s the quiet trust that God will meet you in that first, shaky step — even when the storm hasn’t calmed.

In today’s EMBR Mornings reflection, Kimberly shares the mantra: “Faith is the root of my courage.” Drawing from Peter’s story of stepping onto the water, we’re reminded that courage isn’t found in perfect conditions. The wind may still howl, the waves may still rise, but when our courage is anchored in faith, we are steady.

✨ Key benefit: You’ll leave today’s pause with a renewed reminder that your courage doesn’t depend on circumstances. It flows from trusting the One who holds you in every step.

At EMBR Mornings, we believe every woman carries an ember within her. Through short, soulful, faith-centered reflections, we help you begin your day with clarity, presence, and God-rooted peace.

Courage does not always roar. Sometimes it's the quiet trust that God will meet you in that first step that you can't even see yet. Welcome to EMBR Mornings, this moment to pause with your coffee, breathe deeply and remember you're not walking into this day alone. Today's mantra is faith is the root of my courage. Yesterday we talked about Jonah. Today, I wanna talk about Peter. When Peter sees Jesus walking on the water in the middle of the storm, at first he's terrified, but then when he realizes it's Jesus, he says, Lord, if it's you, tell me to come to you on the water. And Jesus simply says, come. Peter steps out of the boat placing his weight on something that shouldn't hold him, and for a few steps, his eyes are fixed on Jesus and he does the impossible. The waves are still there, the wind is still howling, but his courage comes from faith, not from the storm being calm. When your courage is rooted in faith, the size of the step doesn't matter as much as the one who holds you steady. Where do you need to trust that God will meet you in your next step? Think about it, write it down, pray over it and take that one small step toward it today. Let's EMBR the day ahead with anchored trust and the courage that comes from knowing that you are held. I'll meet you here tomorrow. We'll talk about the kind of courage that shows up in the smallest, most unseen moments, until tomorrow.
