Dr. Juan Rivera on the Sugar Tax in Mexico

Nutritional Sciences graduate student Anahi Ramos-Gonzalez interviews Dr. Juan Rivera Dommarco about the article, Perspective: Mexico’s Experience in Building a Toolkit for Obesity and Noncommunicable Diseases Prevention. Dr. Rivera Donmaro is an Executive Board member of the International Association of National Public Health Institutes (IANPHI), a member of The EAT-Lancet Commission, a member of the National Academy of Medicine of Mexico, member of the American Society for Nutrition and, Board Directors´ Member of the Pact for Early Childhood. Also, he has been President of the Latin American Society of Nutrition (SLAN), founding director of the Center for Nutrition and Health Research at INSP, member of the World Obesity/Public Prevention Steering Committee, and member of the High-Level Panel of Experts on Food Security and Nutrition (HLPE).

With more than 30 years of uninterrupted work in the field of research, Dr. Rivera has headed institutions such as the National Institute of Public Health and is a crucial figure in many of the current legislations regarding Mexican food aspects.
