Because visibility might open the door.
But leadership is what changes lives.
What if the thing holding your doula business back isn't your content... it's your ability to lead?
In this final episode of the From Invisible to Unforgettable series, I'm sharing the biggest realization I've had after coaching hundreds of doulas:
The problem usually isn't visibility.
It's what happens after someone finds you.
Because getting seen is one thing.
Helping someone move from uncertainty to decision is another.
We're recapping the biggest lessons from this series—from standing out in a crowded market, to embracing what makes you different, to becoming known for something specific, to leading more powerful consultations.
And we're talking about the one thing that ties it all together:
Sales.
Not the pushy version.
The leadership version.
The kind that helps people find clarity, make decisions, and move forward.
In this episode, you'll learn:
✨ Why visibility alone won't book you out
✨ Why sales skills are actually life skills
✨ The real reason so many doulas stay stuck
✨ How leadership impacts every area of your business
✨ Why helping people make decisions is one of the greatest gifts you can give them
Struggling to grow your doula business? Tired of chasing prospects online? Imagine effortlessly attracting your dream clients and consistently generating a steady income month after month.

Women move through fear with you by their side. You help them trust themselves and advocate for themselves and make those difficult decisions. You help them navigate uncertainty. You're already doing sales. You're just calling it support. Welcome to the Six Figure Doula podcast. This is where confidence becomes currency. If you're a birth worker who's ready to stop overthinking, stop undercharging, and start leading like you mean it, then you're not here by accident. Every week we talk sales without the ick, money without shame, and building a business that actually holds you and your clients. Welcome home, Doula. We are back with the final episode of the series, From Invisible to Unforgettable. And I just know in my heart, this is the episode that I've been trying to get to all along. And I strategically, or intentionally rather, did not pre-plan each episode because that's not my process. My process is let it evolve and let it kind of reveal itself in the moment, depending on what's happening in my world, based on the conversations I'm having with my ideal clients. That's just how I roll. And if you've listened to the last four episodes, well, first of all, if you haven't, you should go back because it's juicy, but you've probably noticed something too. And I think at the end of the day, it was never just about branding or content. And of course, those things are important, they matter, but they're not the be all end-all. They're not the final point. The point of this series is asking yourself, what happens after someone finds you, stumbles upon your page, is called in by your content? What is that experience like? What happens after somebody clicks follow? What happens when somebody books a consultation? What happens when it is time to lead? And before we dive in, I want to zoom out for just a moment because every episode in this series has been building toward this exact conversation. So in part one, we talked about why different is more powerful than better. Because the goal is not to become the most qualified doula in your city, it's to become memorable. Leave a legacy. Becoming known for one thing is what actually makes people remember you. And then in part four, we talked about consultations, how trust is not enough. Trust is not the only thing. A consultation is not a presentation, it is leadership. I will die on that hill. It is helping a woman move from confusion to clarity, helping someone understand what they want and whether they're ready to do something about it. And here's what all four of those episodes have been building and compounding towards. And that is that we know visibility can grab attention. And we know that trust creates the interest and that leadership creates movement. And we know that sales creates transformation. That's the piece. That is the thing that no one wants to talk about, especially in heart-led work. That is the thing I spent years dancing around, quite literally dancing around. And I think it's because sales makes people uncomfortable. And I will go as far as saying, especially women, and I don't mean that to be like a gross generalizer. I mean it because of the conditioning, the way that we've been raised, the way that society looks at sales. And if you are a helper, you are a doula, this is especially difficult because somewhere along the way we were taught that sales was manipulative and self-serving. And I bought into that for a longer than I'd like to admit, for years. I thought my job was to teach social media because that's what everybody asked for. How do I post? How do I grow my following? How do I get better engagement? How do I become more visible? And again, don't mince my words. Don't get me wrong. Visibility matters. Of course it does. And I can help you with that. And I want to help you with that. But after coaching hundreds of doulas, I noticed the through line. The doulas who were struggling were not usually struggling because nobody knew they existed. They were struggling because they didn't know what to do once people showed up. So they're getting inquiries and they're getting consultations, maybe not as regularly as they would like, but they're trickling in. You know, they're having these conversations, but then they're getting ghosted. They're hearing on repeat, I'm gonna let you know, I've got to think about it. I've got to talk to my husband. You know, that's outside of my budget. And every time those things happen, there's this assumption I need more opportunities, I need more audience, I need more visibility, more reach. But most of the time, if we look at the data, and if the data's not sitting in front of you because you're not tracking it, that's on you. Okay. That's not the problem. A woman saying that she needs to think about it is not a content problem. A woman saying that she needs to talk to her husband, not a content problem. A family disappearing after a consultation isn't usually a content problem. Those are leadership moments. Those are moments in sales conversations. And that's when everything clicked for me. I realized that I wasn't actually passionate about social media. I mean, I love content. I love putting that out into the world. I truly look at my Instagram as a journal and a way to express myself. Um, same with branding, like being able to share that side of myself and connect with my audience. Huge, huge, huge piece of the puzzle. But what I was really obsessed with was helping people move. Help people make decisions, get unstuck, stop sitting in that sticky indecision type of place. Help them cross that belief bridge between where they are and where they want to be. And indecision is expensive. It keeps doulas stuck, it keeps their businesses stuck. And when you can master the ability to help someone move through that uncertainty, you have mastered sales, which is why I believe sales skills are incredibly important. They are life skills. And it's not because I want everyone walking around closing people. Like that's not what I'm saying. But sales is communication. It represents confidence and boundaries, asking for what you want, handling hard conversations and situations, navigating objections without taking them personally, helping someone see clearly enough to make the right decision, whether that's about birth or death. The work that you do every single day, it's not that far off. Women move through fear with you by their side. You help them trust themselves and advocate for themselves and make those difficult decisions. You help them navigate uncertainty. You're already doing sales, you're just calling it support. That is why I am hella passionate about this. Because when doulas learn how to sell, that's the unlock. And your confidence will change. The way you communicate will change. The way you show up as a leader, your relationships, your ability to advocate, everything changes. And here's something else that I realized most doulas don't necessarily want more on their plate. They they don't necessarily want more clients, not forever. What they want is freedom and choice and sustainability. They want income that isn't tied to being on call every weekend for the next 20 years. And none of that happens without sales. None of it. And that's why this series felt so important to me. Because becoming unforgettable isn't just about being seen, it's about becoming someone that people trust, that they remember, and then they choose informed consent. It requires more than visibility, it requires leadership, a willingness to ask. Because we're never out here trying to convince someone. We are willing to help someone make that decision for themselves. It's rooted in autonomy. So if there's one thing that I hope you take away from this entire series, it is that you do not need to become more. You absolutely do not need another certification. Don't go chasing that content calendar template. I'm gonna puke. Okay. You don't need to be on top of all the real trends. You don't need a hundred more, a thousand more, ten thousand more followers. You need courage and clarity. You need to become a leader. And you need the ability to confidently guide someone from uncertainty to decision. Visibility will certainly open the door, but leadership is what will change lives. And before we wrap this series, I want to ask you the same favor that I've been asking over the last few weeks because it's really important. If these conversations are shifting the way that you think about business, if they've helped you in any way, if they've challenged you, if they've inspired you, or even just made you see something in a different light, would you please leave a rating and a review for the show? Not for me. Okay, this isn't for me. I mean, it is, it's for me too, but this is my ask of you is for the doula who's six months behind you, wondering if she'll ever figure this out, questioning her prices, terrified to follow up, can't even fathom asking for the sale. Your rating and review helps her find these conversations. And as a genuine thank you, I will gift you my booked AF toolkit and my Slay Your Consult bundle. I'm talking my frameworks, my scripts, my strategies, the things that I teach doulas in my program to get more inquiries and better consultations and more consistent bookings. Leave the review, take a quick screenshot, DM it to me over on Instagram at the Lisa V, that's V E E, and I will grant you access. Thank you for being here. Thank you for listening. Thank you for being part of this journey from invisible to unforgettable. Catch you on the next one.
