I'm not changing who I am...but I'm finally getting crystal clear about who I'm here to serve.
For a long time, I tried to create content for every doula. The brand-new doula. The side-hustle doula. The doula hoping referrals would eventually be enough.
But I've realized that's not who I come alive coaching.
In this episode, I'm sharing why I've narrowed my niche, the role money really plays in birth work, why I believe ambition and motherhood belong together, and why this podcast isn't for every doula anymore.
If you've ever felt guilty for wanting more than "coffee money" from your business, or you've been told you're "too ambitious" for doula work, this conversation is for you.
In This Episode You'll Hear:
- Why I've refined who this podcast is for
- My perspective on money, impact, and legacy in birth work
- Why I believe ambitious mothers are changing the future of the doula profession
- Who I'm no longer trying to serve—and why
- The movement I'm building for doulas who refuse to choose between motherhood and success

This podcast is no longer for every doula. So if you are looking for someone to convince you, I am not your coach. If you are waiting until life calms down for you, I'm not your coach. If you are hoping that referrals are gonna magically save your business, I'm definitely not your coach. And if you are unwilling to invest in becoming the woman that your business requires, I'm not your coach. So this podcast is 100% for the woman who gets emotional thinking about what her children will witness along this journey, who knows she is capable of more, who is tired of playing small or quieting her ambition, who is willing to become uncomfortable and wants this to become her career. And it's not because she has to, it's because she makes the intentional choice. Welcome to the Six Figure Doula podcast. This is where confidence becomes currency. If you're a birth worker who's ready to stop overthinking, stop undercharging, and start leading like you mean it, then you're not here by accident. Every week we talk sales without the ick, money without shame, and building a business that actually holds you and your clients. Welcome home, Doula. Summer is here in full force. And summer is a really sacred season for my boys and I. We are avid boaters, we are diehard sun worshipers. We also live in Buffalo, New York, where the winters are long, and this past winter was horrific. I mean, we we escaped to Florida, as you know, if you've been a longtime listener. I popped down to Florida multiple times throughout the winter to kind of break up the scenery. But I honestly don't, I don't know what I would do if I if I didn't have that option. Um, but with summer has come some clarity for me. And I want to talk a little bit about this because it has been top of mind for quite some time. July, June, July, August, they tend to be months with ebb. And I feel like this is quite universal within the dual industry. I'm sure it's not the thing to generalize, but just based on my own experiences and the conversations I'm having with my clients every single day, and even the conversations I'm having with my own coach, naturally, summer universally brings a quiet, a more a presence, a a need to really go and live. And so for some of us, we feel torn between being present with our families and being present in our businesses. And that's just the reality. And so over the last few weeks, I have reframed summer for myself and my business and what that means for me. And the reframe has brought incredible clarity. What is the reframe? And I I probably should just give my coach Ben uh the credit for this. He was the one that reminded me of what was actually happening. Uh, when I came to him and I said, you know, I'm I'm feeling like it's hard to get the momentum flowing in June, July, and August the same way that it is, let's say, like February, March, April, or September and October. And things are cyclical. And and I said, I'm not worried about it. Like it's kind of nice to be in a position to say, like, I'm not worried about it. This is this is just what happened, but I'm uncomfortable. So I'm not worried about it anymore, but I am uncomfortable. And there's this acknowledgement of what's coming up for me, which is I don't love when I'm not in flow. I don't love when I don't feel that momentum or when that momentum feels more force. And he said, But you're building, you are in build mode. And he's right, I have so many projects going on behind the scenes right now that I am very excited about. When I first started them, I wasn't because when I start new projects, I get very, very frustrated with tech. So I get like really in the weeds, and the tech makes me feel stuck, and then I can't move at the speed in which I want to move, and it really bogs me down. And so now that I've pushed past the tech hiccups and I'm starting to see it come alive and I see the vision and I can almost reach it, like literally, probably by next week, I will be able to reveal some really exciting things. And so now that it's within grasp, the build out is starting to come to fruition. But it has been nice to reframe the last weeks and months for myself as I am building a solid foundation. I am literally front loading this momentum. So when people start to get their kids back into school, when our natural rhythmic motivation comes back, our intrinsic need to get back to routine, I'm ready. I am, I'm gonna be so ready to capitalize on September. And when I've been in this build phase, it has allowed me more time for reflection. And so the clarity that has come from this period has led me to feel the need to get on today, get on the mic, and tell you something. And that is that this podcast is no longer for every doula. And it's not because I don't believe everyone deserves support. So let's just get that out of the way, but because I have realized that I am not called to help everyone. I am feeling called to help a very specific woman. She is wildly ambitious, she loves doula work, and she is done apologizing for wanting more for her and her family and her life. And there was a long stretch in my business. And I want to clarify a few things here. There was a long stretch in my business where I felt the need to speak to every doula. And we typically see this in those early stages, or maybe it's not early, but maybe it's before the marketing and the sales system starts to click into place. And this was me. So even after I had consistent revenue coming in month after month, and I saw the predictability, which damn, was that a good feeling? After so long of wondering if I would ever get there, even once that started happening, I still felt the need to help every doula because now it switched. Now it shifted into well, I want to be the mentor that I wish I had had in those early stages. The brand new baby doula, the hobby doula, the doula who wants one birth a month, you know, extra coffee money, the doula who hoped that referrals would eventually just work and that's all they had to do, right? But the women that I come alive coaching are not those women anymore. They are the ones who look at their children and think to themselves, I want them to see what building something extraordinary looks like. They don't want another hobby, they want a real business. And some people think that talking about money somehow cheapens birth work, but I think that's ass backwards. Like money creates options. Money lets you say yes to the birth that you actually want. Money lets you work less while serving better. It lets you stay in doula work instead of burning out. It lets your children watch their mother build something meaningful. Money funds generosity and freedom and legacy. And yet the goal is not money alone. The goal is what money makes possible. So I've had this insane realization, really recent epiphany that I just was like dying to get on here and spill the beans about. And that is that I don't coach doulas. I coach ambitious mothers who happen to be doulas. So these are women who want six figure businesses. They want to contribute to their family's bottom line. They want flexibility within their day. They want to pick their kids up from school if they feel like it. They want to travel and afford to. They want choices, ownership, to prove to themselves they can build something extraordinary. That woman is my person. And I also just want to go on record saying a few things that I think prevented me from niching down in the beginning if I was really being truthful here. And that is that I am so done apologizing for wanting wealth. So you will no longer hear me apologize for charging premium prices or for loving sales. I'm done saying I'm sorry for wanting my son to grow up watching his mom build something freaking incredible. And I am never going to apologize for believing women can nurture their families while building empires. Those things can exist together. And maybe I'm not talking about multi, seven, eight-figure businesses. But if Adula comes to me and says, I want to hit 10K months on repeat, I say, let's get to work. If you are constantly looking for shortcuts instead of building skills, we're not gonna want to work together. Every booked-out doula means that another mother receives incredible care. That's the bigger mission. Every profitable doula can stay in this profession longer. Every successful doula has the ability and the impact of changing birth and that industry and that culture. So this is not just about making money. It's about creating a movement of women who never have to choose between impact and income ever again. And if you feel like I've been on the mic talking directly to you, it's probably because I was. And later this month, I am teaching a free live workshop never been done before, brand spanking new. And it's called 10K Duel a month start this summer. And inside, I'm gonna walk you through my 90-day six-figure duela revenue roadmap. Just the exact roadmap that I use to help do is stop relying on referrals and start creating predictable revenue. Because by Labor Day, there will be two kinds of doulas. There will be the ones hoping that referrals pick back up in September. And there will be the doulas who quietly spend the summer building the business that changes everything for them, their kids, their family. So if you're that second woman, I will see you there live. Go ahead and register in the show notes. You don't want to miss it. And if you're done listening because today didn't feel really good and today really uncovered some shit for you, sorry, not sorry. And if you feel like I know I'm meant to be here and stick around, then I will see you on my live. Ciao.
