The Unbusy Mom - take your time back strategies for business moms

Try THIS to wake up your brain when you’ve got a full day of projects and clients ahead, and you stayed up too late last night!

Alyssa Wolff - Time Management Coach for Work at Home Moms

You know all those great dreams and plans you had for yourself when you started working at home?

Those “I’m going to love every minute of my flexible, work from home day, get up at 5am every morning, drink a green smoothie, and dive into deep work for 2 hours before my kids are awake”?

Yeah, those ones.

How about the realistic way to avoid burnout when the shiny newness has worn off, and you’re faced instead with the reality of “I stayed up too late last night, I’ve got clients to serve this morning, and I need an energetic shift right NOW”?

This is the Unbusy Mom, and today we’re talking about how to wake up your brain when you’ve got a full day of projects and clients ahead, and you stayed up too late last night!

So, apart from going to bed earlier (which always helps!), here’s what I do to make sure I’m excited to face the day as a solopreneur and my own boss.

Best energy hack ever: Set your 1st project each morning to be something you genuinely enjoy doing.

Whatever your favorite part of business is, stack that onto your morning time blocks.

Because you’re going to be running over your to-do list in your head tomorrow morning, when you’re in that “do I have to get up or can I sleep in” stage, and remembering that there’s something you’d actually really like to do is often what motivates you to actually roll out of bed and do the thing.

(So don’t put the website tech fiddling here if you can’t seem to figure out why WordPress is broken!)

Go script the podcast episode, or design a new template for your shop, or brainstorm what direction you’re going to take for this latest client’s rebranding project.

Just make sure that it’s fun for you.

(Plus, it’s not like you actually have to get dressed or anything! Just getting out of bed and over to your laptop counts.)

Listen, I know that *every* work block of *every* business day is doing something that's super important for my business (because I already chose only the most *essential* to-dos to populate my to-do list).

I get to relax in the knowing that half my food prep for tonight is already done, courtesy of the middle schoolers and teens, so it doesn't matter if I work (and then work *out*) right up until supper.

And I *even* get to shift my work hours up and down based on whether we're about to start the semester with a new 9th grader (plus all the transcript planning that goes along with it), or I've just graduated a 9-year-old from the "needs mommy to read everything to me" level of schoolwork. (Ah, the freedom!)

So, this is what I want you to try tomorrow (or next week), whenever you’re feeling grumpy and resentful about your work hours. You chose this; now let’s make it something you’d actually want to do. It’s all in how you think about it.

Because your attitude about something – whether it’s your next business task or the meal prepping you’re dreading tonight – is often the biggest shift you can do to make your life better as a work-from-home mom.

So let’s blend the scheduling *and* mindset - both key pillars of my program - into something that gets *you* the income, clients, and personal satisfaction you’ve been craving - because it’s time to turn *your* work-at-home life into the unicorn version of reality.

Yes, it’s possible.

Yes, you’ll get there.

Yes, you can do it.

You just need to let the mindset (that yes, mompreneur life gets to be this good) combine with the scheduling (that I will help you put into place, every step of the way, inside my program), and you’ve already gotten there.

You’re already seeing the daisies (metaphorically speaking).

Now, the only question that remains is, how badly do you want to get up and do it?

Answer that, and I’ll make it happen.

You’ve got this - if you really want it.
