All right, time to get real with you: here's why working through the weekend is the most inefficient use of your time as a mom biz owner.
'Cause you've got a whole bunch of mom things to do on the weekend, NOT enough time to be frantically writing those launch emails or creating all the graphics for your next carousel post.
You're supposed to be taking a day for all that food prep and house cleaning and grocery shopping (and kid snuggling!), and whatever else didn't fit into your week as a biz-owning mom!
So what do you do when you’re caught in “Oh boy, I could get so much more done if I had a 6th work day!" mode?

All right, time to get real with you: here's why working through the weekend is *the* most inefficient use of your time as a mom biz owner.
'Cause you've got a whole bunch of *mom* things to do on the weekend, for God's sake, *not* the time to be frantically writing those launch emails or creating all the graphics for your next carousel post!
(Unless you *specifically* set up your weekend to take a non-work day on a day *other* than Saturday, to attend to all those food prepping and family fun day tasks, and you're prepared to devote your Saturday specifically to work.)
That's the only exception.
You're *supposed* to be taking a day for all that food prep and house cleaning and grocery shopping (and kid snuggling!), and whatever else *didn't* fit into your week as a biz-owning mom!
Look, I do it myself. "Oh boy, I could get so much more done if I had a 6th work day!" But then reality sets in.
- Yeah - and I need to make granola because I didn't have time during my normal work day.
- Yeah - and I need to make 2 batches of yogurt for our hungry tummies (at times when the "stir starter in *now*" timer *isn't* going to go off halfway through a client call!)
- Yeah - and I want to cook those tortillas for tacos tonight (doing 3 batches at once takes a while).
- Yeah - and I get to go on a date with my husband, smack in the middle of the day, right in my ordinary work time. You bet I want to!
Need to, want to, and get to.
You have your *own* priorities where you've got cleaning chores or food prepping practices or making family park runs that *only* happen on Saturday.
Why? Because that's when you've got the time for it.
You kept your workday routine nice and streamlined and simplified, so Saturday is where the "extra" stuff fits.
That's not a problem; it's actually a good thing. Because it means you have a handle on your *life*, how much fits in, and what you need to do with the overflow.
(And if you ever have too much to put on a normal Saturday, then you know you've got too much on your to-do list. Bump some more off to next week, or start deleting things. You're welcome.)
And hey - I do this all the time, too.
- Haven’t got time to plan out next week’s menu? On the weekend.
- Need to research a new homeschooling curriculum for the kids? On the weekend.
- Son just told me he hasn’t got any more pants without holes in the knees? Online shopping trip coming up - but chances are, it’ll have to, you guessed it, be on the weekend.
I’m not stressing out about not getting all this stuff done in my short non-work, non-grading, non-meal-prepping hours during Monday through Friday; I’m *giving* myself the open slots in my schedule to *make* that necessary family stuff fit in.
But if I’ve got all of the above, plus my husband’s asked me to find XYZ files for him *and* we’ve got company coming *and* the bathroom needs a little extra tidy-up? Yeah, I’m not doing it all in one day. *That’s* when I’m going to be tiering my to-do list and pushing the extra off till next Saturday.
Because you DON’T need to push yourself to fit ALL of it in – you CAN lean on delegating to your team and your older children – plus you know you need the extra practice embodying your new “I don’t have to do it all” mindset.
And you’re going to know that you ALREADY got everything checked off for your business – so there’s no need to run into overtime – AND that if you STILL need more help, you get to lean on your team for BUSINESS support, as well.
Where are you going to give yourself *freedom* to embrace a
food-prepping-cleaning-house-projects day in your week today?
Remember, it doesn't *have* to be Saturday. It can be whatever day you want it to be. Just set one aside in your schedule, and stick to it. All non-workday chores go in here.
Your day-by-day work-from-home workday is going to flow a lot easier for it.
