Are we truly healing or just managing decline? In this powerful conversation, Dr Supatra Tovar sits down with Brad, Co Founder, to unpack how information overload in modern healthcare is leading to confusion, inaction, and reactive treatment models. From conflicting cholesterol research to the realities inside nursing homes, they explore how people are overwhelmed by mixed messages and unsure what steps to take for real prevention.

Brad shares why education may be the most important missing piece in healthcare today and how empowering individuals with clear, science backed knowledge could shift the system from symptom management to long term vitality. This episode challenges listeners to rethink what true health support really looks like.

Welcome back everyone. We are back for the second half of our incredible interview with co-founder and clinical director of Human Sync, Erik Nelson. Erik gave us some really thought provoking insight into highly specialized healthcare. We're just scratching the surface, so we're gonna dive in and learn some more.

erik-nelson_2_01-14-2026_141058:

Yeah, you're tapping into something that's very interesting. I think there's a lot of discussion on living to a hundred or 120 or on the, on the far spectrum would be to end aging. So the vitalism movement of ending aging, I love it all. I think it's all great. What matters most to people is now, uh, is what I've learned is, is like, you know, now is the priority. And then in, in a close second would be, what information do I need to know now to help me live happy, healthy, as long as possible? I like to think about it as putting nursing homes outta business. Not to take people's jobs, but we, a, it's just a bummer that there's so many people in the, and I've been in those nursing homes and it's mainly, I think one of my, you know, we are a medical company and, and we have doctors and a science team. Education, I think is like maybe the most important thing because the, the information's out there. Um, but people are so busy and there's so much information that people just have no idea what to do. Brad, co-founder talks about information overload, leading to inaction, and people just say, well, I just heard cholesterol is the number one cause of heart disease. And then the next doctor says, well you need well you need cholesterol for a functioning immune system. Which is true, is true. But then cholesterol has been shown cause heart disease. There are so many situations. I think about a year ago I did, um, the Longevity Confusion series on LinkedIn. Yeah, you're tapping into something that's very interesting. I think there's a lot of discussion on living to a hundred or 120 or on the, on the far spectrum would be to end aging. So the vitalism movement of ending aging, I love it all. There are so many situations. I think about a year ago I did, um, the Longevity Confusion series on LinkedIn. I had 13 posts. Corn is good. Corn is bad. Bread is good, bread is bad, oatmeal is good, oatmeal is bad. There's just so much information. So my, my goal with Human Sync, and our, the people that we bring into our business to work with us also are the same way. It's like education, education, education. Let people know that just because mom had heart disease or dad had heart disease and you have high cholesterol, does not mean you're gonna get heart disease. What can we teach people when they leave our program. We do have renewables. People are renewing the second year automatically right now, which is really sweet. Um, but when they leave Human Sync, um, do they know what it takes to live, happy and healthy? We meet with a monthly and we check on that 90 day plan, we say, how's that going? And then another month goes by and we're tweaking. And then at each quarter we do new testing with a quarterly review report that looks back in the last 90 days and says, this is where we saw some progress.

dr--supatra-tovar_8_01-14-2026_121058:

I love this so much. The only thing I'm not hearing, and maybe you can address this, 'cause this is my area, um, you know, I've, I practice nutritional psychology, so I'm wondering how much do you address what's going on with their mental health, their mindset, because you could have somebody who is doing all the quote right things.

erik-nelson_2_01-14-2026_141058:

So that initial setting, the foundations phase that I was telling you about on the first, first call, we look into nervous system, mindset. We asked some introductory questions and, and here's, uh, one of the challenges about this space actually. The body's so complex. How do you do everything in that first 60 minute call or even a 12 month program? There's no shortage of information, but there's a shortage of people helping other people do their plan and, and carry through it and understand the mind. So we actually do focus heavily on nervous system. So a lot of our patients that we identify need a little extra support. We work very, very closely with Jay and, uh, do, um, kind of a care. We, we coordinate care between us and Jay and that patient. So very, very, very important because none of this matters if we don't have our mental health. Um, doesn't matter what biomarkers we check or genetics or anything, so. Very, very core to our program is nervous system, our mind, our autonomic nervous system, sympathetic nervous system, auto, autonom, or parasympathetic, all that a hundred percent. I always see opportunities to do it better, though. It's just coordinating all this stuff. I think we're doing really well with the nervous system. But I know there's so many people out there that struggle with the mental health and the mindset stuff in our, in our world, that I'm kind of like, you almost could start a separate business on it.

dr--supatra-tovar_8_01-14-2026_121058:

Very, very difficult because you're always just feeling unsafe. And then. If you look at what happens physiologically in the body when you're in that fight or flight or freeze state all the time, you can see how it breaks down so many systems and there's so many difficulties and inflammation happens and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. So, um, you know, adding that piece in. Nervous system first. Then mindset, uh, is, is a really effective way to help people realize the power of their minds. I think a lot of people really just don't understand that there, there are like literal wizards. You can make something happen just by thinking, which is. Yes.

erik-nelson_2_01-14-2026_141058:

Um. I've seen that personally. Uh, a product was a little bit higher end, and everybody in the world wants to get this to a low price. Myself included. I live in Northern Minnesota. People up here are not gonna spend money on a Human Sync membership. It's just not the culture. Try all these different companies do all this stuff. They just want to be told and quarterbacked, guided, um. Then educated on how, where their body currently stands, if there's any red flags and what to do about it. We provide that, uh, in the, in the longevity roadmap report and then what we do with them for 12 months. Say it wasn't in, in your company, how do you help people discern what's real and what's hype out there? of that because I'm in, I'm, I've been involved on three different businesses, uh, business to business. Went outta Stanford's AI Health Lab actually, is important. Um. Now there are some extremely, extremely expensive clinics out there that are focusing a lot of their marketing on all the fancy things I talked about in the beginning. uh, a program that requires like no doctor time and automated prescriptions. And I was like. So there's a lot of focus on all the fancy things there, and it's like, what are the health outcomes? What are we trying to shoot for? I wanna know what, what, what they're eating, uh, what their lifestyle is like, what's going on, how are they not? Uh, for, you know, if you really want the condensed version, eat a lot of soy and they'll eat a lot of kelp. Uh, really watch your lifestyle. Um, you know, keep your creep. Your, pardon me.

dr--supatra-tovar_8_01-14-2026_121058:

I, I just recommend that people don't necessarily just go for the magic pill. You look at what you can do in your lifestyle, uh, that doesn't cost you, uh, hardly a cent that will, uh, you know. Basically help extend your life span, but also help you thrive year after year. We're gonna put it in the show notes. Don't you worry people, you'll have it. You can click on that at the end. I wish we could have had just a tiny bit longer convo, but you gotta get out of there and, um, you know, take care of your kid. But I, I would love to have you back on. I think that you, you're fascinating.
