Unknown:

Welcome to the copywriting for coaches podcast. My name is Megan catchin, and I am obsessed with having your brand actually sound like you on the internet. We help you write all the things that you've been trying to articulate about your business but have never been able to put into copy. We're going to go deep to up level your business without adding more to your already full plate. We'll keep it simple and sustainable. Sound like a breath of relief. Let's dive in. There are three specific power words or phrases in copywriting that will increase your conversions. You are not going to be able to unsee it once. I share them with you today. So if you are struggling to stand out in a saturated market, it feels so saturated, so overwhelming, and your copywriting is not converting. This is for you. I also want you to go back through your Black Friday emails or right after listening to this episode, and apply what I'm about to share you. It is that actionable? Okay, so I'm going to share how to rewrite your copy for real impact. I'm giving specific examples to go from boring to better to best, and I'm going to be giving examples for business coaches, life coaches, health and wellness coaches, but even if you fall outside of those niches, this still works. This still applies. Okay, so this is one of the simplest ways to make up your copy, cut through the noise, grab attention and speak directly to what your reader truly cares about. It is not about just sprinkling in power words and copywriting. I'm sharing how to strategically use these words to truly connect with your best fit clients. In this episode, we will go beyond those generic lists of power words that you see written out there, we're gonna dive into three very specific, very powerful client attracting words that can instantly boost your copy's impact. You guys, it is so simple. Anyone can do this truly. Each one has a clear purpose. And the examples are going to show you how these words work in action, so that you can really feel the difference. Okay, so I'm excited to explore these power words and copywriting that are going to help you create clear and compelling messages and ultimately drive more conversions. You guys are gonna be amazed at how simple it actually can be. So first, before I jump into the examples, I want to differentiate between power words you might have heard out there and what I'm going to be talking about here. So power words and copywriting are used to capture attention, evoke strong feelings and motivate the reader to take action. Sounds great, right? So these words tap into psychological triggers and emotional responses that make the copy more impactful and compelling. Think of them as the VIP tickets that bring your message front and center, turning your readers casual glance into full engagement. Give me more. So here's how typical power words work and some common categories they fall into. So there's words like love, joy, fear, crave, satisfying. Those all have an emotional appeal, and they resonate with deep seated emotions, encouraging a visceral response from the reader. They are often used to appeal to these basic human desires or fears. Then there's ones that create curiosity and exclusivity, like, like, literally, the word exclusive is a Power Word, words like, you see, secret or limited, and only those are words that can make the reader feel like they are part of something unique or important and drive them to take action to access This special information. Then there's the urgency and scarcity words that we see like now or limited time, act fast ending soon. Those trigger a fear of missing out that FOMO and encourages readers to act quickly. And I know that this brings up some feelings for some people. Some people are very much against using FOMO, even if it's honest. And that is a conversation we had in Episode gosh, I believe it's episode 14. I'm gonna link it in the show notes. But of course, my take on it is that, like this, assumes that the urgency is actually honest. You know, you're being truthful about why you are limiting the amount of seats, why there is a limited time you have to cut it off. We are not talking about fake urgency, because obviously that is for sure, a no, okay. So other power words, there are power words that show authority and trust. So you will see words out there like proven, guaranteed, certified research backed those are all power words that help build trust with the reader, making them more comfortable taking action. And then there's the value and reward. Power words like save, bonus, free, reward and benefit, they all appeal to the desire for value. You and incentives and often lead to higher engagement and response rates. So you've, I'm sure, I know, have seen these words being used. You might have used them even yourself, not even realizing that these are power words. So research and marketing psychology reveals that these words can boost reader engagement, they increase conversions and build brand loyalty by appealing to these emotional drivers. Now, these great power words in copywriting, you should totally use them, but here's my hot take, these typical power words attract attention, yes, but they lack strategy, like you can go Google it and there will be hundreds of power words to use beyond the list ones that I listed here, but that I mean, is helpful, sure, but it's not gonna be as helpful as the three specific power words and copywriting that I'm about to share with you right now. So what can you say to attract clients? What are the three power words that are going to instantly make your copy that much more resonant. The first one I'm going to share with you is more of a phrase, I guess it's two words, not one word. It's so that, so that this phrase taps into the reader's desire to understand what they will gain from your offer by explicitly stating the benefit, it speaks to their motivation for taking action and making it clear how their situation will improve. It works because it shifts the focus from the features of the offer to the real life impact and benefit it will have on the client. So I know you've heard all the copywriters out there saying and marketers in general saying, Don't focus on the features, focus on the benefits. Here is an actual, clear, tangible way that you can do that in your copywriting. Use the phrase so that. And here I have a few sample examples for you across different niches in the coaching industry. We're going to take more in copy, make it better, and then add in this Power Word to improve it yet again. So here's an example for a business coach. Boring chat GPT vomit will tell you take your business to the next level. This is vague. It is not new unique to you as a business coach. Yet, we see it all the time in copywriting, or maybe it just stands out to me and bothers me because I'm a copywriter. But you know, all business coaches do this. What is your specialty? Where do you tend to get the results most easily? So making that better by getting more specific, we can say, create a wait list of dream clients you're genuinely excited to work with. We're being descriptive on what it actually looks like to take their business to the next level. Okay? And then let's make that even better by adding in our Power Word create a wait list of dream clients you're genuinely excited to work with so that you can scale your income and create a brand that stands out in the marketplace. Now we can envision the transformation the so that took it to the next level, right? It made it so much better because it got even more specific in describing the transformation. Here's Let's do that again now with a life coaching example, boring chatgpt Vomit might tell you discover your true potential. Any life coach could say this, right? We need to get more specific here around what this looks like. So to make it better, we can say confidently, step into each day with clarity and purpose. Now that's something we want, right? Okay, next, let's take it to the best level by incorporating our power words so that confidently step into each day with clarity and purpose, so that you can lead a more fulfilling, balanced life and feel empowered to reach your goals, right? So the increasing specificity makes this copy the best version, and we can see the transformation more clearly. Let's take this to a wellness coaching example. Boring would be to say, create sustainable health habits. I mean, that's true, but, like, what does that even mean? I can't envision it, so I'm just going to gloss over it, and it's not going to be memorable or compelling. So to make that better, you can say, stay active in ways that actually feel good without feeling guilty for taking rest days. So now you're showing me what that looks like by painting the picture instead of just telling me what it is, and it starts to make this more compelling. Okay, let's make the even better version by putting in our so that power word stay active in ways that feel good without feeling guilty for taking rest days so that you can feel energized, confident, and finally, break free from burnout. This gets at what the ideal client is really at. After right? Sure they want workouts they can enjoy, but the point of those workouts is to actually feel energized, confident and free from the burnout. So we want to go deeper than just what they're getting on the surface level, but going to the real reason why they want those things. All right, so let's jump into power. Word number two I'm going to share with you again is actually two words. It's even if, even if, this phrase is incredibly effective for addressing common objections before they even arise, by anticipating and overcoming these potential doubts, you provide reassurance and lower the resistance and build trust. It shows that the service is adaptable and accessible no matter the client's circumstances or concerns, because a lot of your readers are counting themselves out before they even begin. And this is a way to very quickly address that I love putting in even if often in headlines, often above the fold on sales pages, because it very quickly assures them that they're in the right place, if you know some other program or some other way they've been trying to solve their problem, you know didn't address this and you are addressing this problem and acknowledging that you know how To get around this other concern that you have as well. So here's a business coach. Example, build a profit. Build a profitable business. I mean, of course, everyone wants their business to be profitable. No one wants an unprofitable business. How can we make that better? Have a steady flow of clients who value your work and are eager to invest in your services. Okay, so if you specialize in lead flow, this is a specific benefit that is going to attract people who will benefit the most from your services, and notice it speaks to a pain point, not having enough clients in an empowering way. And I have a whole nother blog post on this, which I'm linking to in the show notes of how to use pain points in a way that is positive and empowering and not feeling like you're digging knife in a wound or like pouring salt on the wound that's already open. So pain points obviously are powerful in copywriting, but how can we do it in a way that is respectful, encouraging and empowering to our readers, so Right? There's nothing negative Nancy about this, this copy, but it's still speaking to a pain point at the same time. Okay, so now let's put our power word in there. Have a steady flow of clients who value your work and are eager to invest in your services, even if you're still figuring out your niche or have a full time job. Now, this includes another nuance that is calling out your specific ideal client. Getting more specific makes your copy more compelling. Okay, let's look at this again from now, from a life coaching example, from life coaches sales page or website, you will often see live a life full of purpose. I mean, for sure, but like, what does this look like? So let's make it better, make the challenges you face feel like opportunities for growth when there is an inner peace in knowing you are on the right path. Okay, now we're getting more specific. Now let's add in our Power Word, even if make the challenges you face feel like operating opportunities for growth, even if you've struggled with finding your direction or face setbacks in the past, now that gives me more reassurance that you understand my pain point, my problem, my struggle, I trust you more to provide the solution or transformation that you say that you can provide it shows that you get it all right. Now, let's look at this one last time from now, from a wellness coaching example. So let's so boring might be you can achieve lasting wellness. I mean, it's a good thing, right? But again, it's too general. It's too vague. It's encouraging, sure, but it does not demonstrate or show us what this looks and feels like. So let's make that better. Your body will feel strong and nourished. This is something I can imagine and visualize, and it starts to make me think, yes, this is what I want. Now let's make it even better by adding in our Power Word, even if your body will feel strong and nourished, even if you've tried countless diets and exercise and it felt like nothing worked before, now I'm starting to feel more known. I can see that you appreciate the efforts of things I've tried before, and you're not going to give me more of the same. This instills hope. All right, now, let's talk about the third power word in copywriting for you to use, and that is without, right, without doing the thing that they hate doing this speaks directly to PowerPoints, sorry, directly to pain point. Points. There we go. By offering a solution to something the client dislikes or struggles with. It presents a vision of a desirable outcome without the frustration of the things they actively want to avoid, which makes the offer more enticing and less intimidating. So let's take a business coach example. You don't want to just say, grow your business, right? What? Well, what does that specifically look like? Better would be bring in consistent monthly revenue, okay? That is a specific way in which we are going to grow our business. That's maybe that's your, you know, house, you specifically help them. Okay? So now adding in our power word without you could say, bring in consistent monthly revenue without spending countless hours on complicated strategies. Okay? So maybe they feel like their marketing is over complicated and so that without reassures them that they don't have to do that anymore. Let's look at it from a life coaching perspective. Instead of just saying, live a life you love, maybe your expertise is in helping them make aligned, aligned decisions. So you could say, make decisions aligned with your values, so that your conversations feel more meaningful. Okay, so that paints the picture a little bit better. And now let's make it even better by adding our without power word make decisions aligned with your values, so so that conversions feel more meaningful without constantly running on empty. Actually, did you notice that we actually had the two power words in there together? So you can combine these, right? We had a so that, and we added a without as well. So we had both in there to make it even more powerful, all right. Last example will be for a wellness coach. Instead of just saying, achieve your fitness goals, which, yes, we want better, to be more specific, and we can say, move through your days with consistent energy levels and avoid mid afternoon crashes. Yes, yes, right? I want that. Okay. How can we make that even better, even more powerful use putting incorporating our power word in there without let's see how that reads. Now, move through your days with consistent energy levels and avoid mid afternoon crashes without following restrictive diet, diets that make you feel deprived. Now we're talking right, so it gets very, even more specific on what it looks like and what it's going to take to get there, and maybe your misconception before, or the thought that you had in your head before was that in order to achieve that, you've been trying to, you know, eliminate gluten, eliminate dairy, eliminate all these things. And now we're saying, okay, you don't have to follow these restrictive diets or feel deprived. And you're like, Okay, I'm interested. You're gonna want to read more, right? So these power words you can use throughout your copy, I think they are often best utilized in your headlines. Put them in your subject lines, in your emails, literally, I want you to, as soon as we end this episode in a couple minutes, I want you to open up your Black Friday emails and use these three in your subject lines, in your hooks. Go look at your sales pages, put one of these or two in your headlines on your sales pages. I guarantee you your conversions will be better just with these simple little tweaks. Okay, so using power words in copywriting is not just a hack. It is a technique to connect your audience with your audience on a deeper level. Right? Think about the examples we just did. If you you would feel more connected you like using that going from boring to better to best there. So by focusing on these phrases so that even if and without you can craft copy that speaks directly to your ideal client's desires and challenges, these phrases make your message feel more personal, personal, more relatable and actually achievable by addressing their specific needs and objections that your audience may have as you apply these power words to your own business, remember to paint vivid pictures that help clients envision their transformation. Powerful copy is about showing, not telling, as we showed you in the examples there and great copy really makes your audience feel understood. These words are simple ways to help you achieve just that you're going to build trust, encourage action, so your readers feel ready and motivated to take the next step with you. So with these phrases in your toolkit, you will turn more readers into clients. So start incorporating these power words in your copywriting today. Literally go. Do it right now.
