Dear Listeners,

Let's talk about lung cancer! Cancer is a topic that we hear more and more about in our community from, awareness to prevention or knowing someone who has fought it, or survived it. Many of us come together and join teams for Relay for Life or join the Breast Cancer walk. Talking about it and learning about how it can be prevented saves lives. There are several factors that can contribute to the development of cancer including environment and lifestyle related factors. According to the World Health Organization, Lung Cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide and Smoking is the leading cause of lung cancer. As we learn more about cancer, discourse shows that awareness, prevention, and early detection can save lives. During this episode Dr. Fosker talks about the impact of stigma on people getting tested for lung cancer because of it's association with smoking, but being aware and getting tested is important. Consider your risks and take steps to get tested, don't let the fear of stigma stop you. Know your risks and take action. Let's continue to talk about lung cancer!!
