Dear Listeners,

Every year on October 29th World Stroke Day is observed. The purpose of this observance is to raise awareness around the importance of stroke prevention, treatment, and care. To promote the BE FAST (Balance, Eyes/vision - Face, Arms, Speech, Time) acronym to help save lives by recognizing the signs of stroke. The emphasis is on prevention as there are lifestyle behaviors like physical activity, diet, avoiding smoking or smoking cessation, stress management, managing comorbidities, and regular screening that contribute to decreased chance of stroke. Bermuda, this year as we commemorate World Stroke Day consider how this may impact you, consider the steps that you can personally take to prevent stroke, consider how you may use BE FAST to save a life.
