Dear Listeners,

March is National Social Work Month. This is years theme is "Uplift. Defend. Transform (National Association of Social Workers, 2026)." The purpose of this observance is to highlight the positive impact of social work in the community, to raise awareness and to emphasize the need to enhance human wellbeing by meeting basic needs, advocating for and empowering vulnerable people, and transform the lives of people they work with. From a Bermuda context we have social workers in several aspects of the community including medical environments like BHB, or community environments like Child & family services or Department of Health, and more. With in these environments our social workers strive to embody and model the components of this years theme through the work they do everyday. This I do not imagine is an easy task and yet, they do it. Bermuda, as we acknowledge and celebrate the Social Workers in Bermuda and worldwide, let's remember what they do for our community.
