Khuthadzo Ntsowe

Khuthadzo Ntsowe is the host of the Agricultural Engineering Podcast, a Lecturer in Agricultural Engineering at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, and a researcher with a strong interest in food process engineering, renewable energy applications in agriculture, and artificial intelligence for agricultural systems. She holds BSc and MSc degrees in Agricultural Engineering and is currently pursuing a PhD in Engineering. Through the podcast, she connects listeners with leading researchers, professionals, and innovators, sharing insights and stories that advance agricultural and biosystems engineering. Her work focuses on developing sustainable technologies for food processing and agricultural production, with research spanning drying technologies, renewable energy systems, and data-driven solutions for the agricultural sector.

Demian Mukansi

Demian Mukansi is a co-host of the Agricultural Engineering Podcast and a PhD student at the University of KwaZulu-Natal specialising in hydrological engineering. His research focuses on understanding how climate and land-use changes influence the design and resilience of hydrological infrastructure.

He holds an MSc in Agricultural Engineering, awarded cum laude by UKZN, where his research centered on post-harvest storage systems. Through the podcast, Demian brings thoughtful discussions with researchers, professionals, and innovators who are shaping the future of agricultural and biosystems engineering. Beyond academia, he is passionate about youth development and advocacy, serving as a National Executive Committee member of the South African Youth Council.

Dr. Alaika Kassim is a co-host of the Agricultural Engineering Podcast and a Senior Lecturer in Agricultural Engineering at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. She is a leading researcher in postharvest technology, agro-processing, and sustainable energy systems, with a strong focus on food quality and safety, postharvest handling of fruits and vegetables, and renewable energy applications in agriculture.

She has played a pioneering role in the discipline, including being the first female lecturer appointed in Agricultural Engineering at UKZN and serving as Chairperson of the KwaZulu-Natal branch of the South African Institute of Agricultural Engineers (SAIAE). Through the podcast, she contributes to engaging conversations with researchers, professionals, and innovators shaping the future of agricultural and biosystems engineering.

Senzo Masikane is the editor of the Agricultural Engineering Podcast and the Business Manager at the South African Institute of Agricultural Engineers (SAIAE). In his editorial role, he helps shape and refine episodes to ensure clarity, flow, and high production quality, working closely with the hosts to deliver engaging conversations with researchers, professionals, and innovators in agricultural and biosystems engineering.

In his role at SAIAE, Senzo is involved in coordinating industry engagement, partnerships, and professional development initiatives within the agricultural engineering sector. He plays an active role in the planning and execution of national symposiums, technical workshops, and student engagement programmes that promote knowledge sharing and innovation in agriculture. Through his work, he contributes to strengthening collaboration between academia, industry, and engineering professionals across South Africa.
