Welcome to The F Word: A Whyfield Podcast
We’re switching up the Whyfield ‘W’ to something fresh… because Why the ‘F’ not?
If you weren’t already aware, Whyfield is an accountants, but fear not, you’re not about to embark on a journey all about numbers!
Join us each week as host Laura Whyte – a business mogul in her own right – chats to an amazing roster of guests about their business journey, lessons learned along the way, and tips for success.
Did you know that the south west has around 45,000 registered businesses on Companies House, and that’s just the Limited Companies, so that’s not even counting the Sole Traders and Partnerships outside of that. Cornwall is a hub for business, so we want to share some of that creative and innovative business juice with you, by inviting some amazing minds to hopefully inspire and empower you on your own business journey.

16 - Furnish: crafting elegant, Flowing spaces with time-honoured techniques and beautiful design
Your home should be a sanctuary – a space to breathe, to relax, to Feel at ease. It’s not about lavish interiors; it’s about creating a place where you can look around and say, “I love it here”.
In this episode, we welcome Helen Grundy-Smith, owner and Creative Director of Cotton Mills, a design house offering Full-service interior design, specialising in bespoke and handmade.
Helen’s journey in business is a little different than those who have joined us in previous episodes. Instead of a journey of building a business from the beginning, we talk about Helen’s bold move to buy an already up-and-running business, and how this came to be.
Through taking risks, in challenging economic times, in a creative industry sometimes stifled with mass-production, Helen speaks about the importance of tradition, thoughtful technique, and timeless design, that really means something.
Helen has a clear passion. Not just for design and interiors, but For her team and the impeccable work they do, both with the pieces they create and design, but also in the way that they work with their clients. It’s truly something special when a team can come in and still make you Feel at ease in your own home while transforming the space.
We hope you enjoy episode 16 of The F Word.
