20 - First Employee: a journey From Apprentice to Director
Sometimes taking that scary step can lead to something special!
In this week’s episode of The F Word, we’re joined by our very own, Jess Crook! This is a notable ep for us, getting to chat to Jess, who has seen Whyfield through it all over the past ten years.
Jess joined us as an apprentice in our tiny broom-cupboard-sized office of three staff, and then quickly moved her way up, gaining qualifications, taking on responsibilities, and guiding the team on her way. Now, she’s our Director of People and Development with a team of 20 (and no longer in that tiny office), a Shareholder, and a mum!
We get to hear Jess’ journey through her roles, why apprenticeships are a brilliant way to dive into the world of work, how she’s seen Whyfield evolve over the years, and how she’s navigating life with her beautiful Son, Harrison, while on a phased return to work.
