Does God Care if I'm Overweight? What the Bible Says

Lindy Schlabach - Christian Mindset & Weight Loss Coach Season 1 Episode 79

Let me be VERY clear here, Jesus loves you just as you are. God created you intentionally before He said "Let there be light" He knew you and loves you. What He convicted me on all those years ago however is that when I put food ahead of Him and rely on it for comfort, I've placed an idol in my life and He hates that. When we are overweight, we may have unhealed trauma, we have a medical condition, we may just make excuses and not fuel ourselves properly. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, Romans 12:1, 1 Corinthians 10:31, the list goes on about God's thoughts about our body and it is up to us to pray for discernment then walk out Holy Spirit obedience, regardless of how we feel. From my own personal journey, to over eight years of working with women in their personal weight loss journey, the majority of women I meet struggle to believe they can actually lose the weight. But you can, not by your strength but by the power of the Holy Spirit inside you. I believe in you and I am here to help you if you'd like! Find the link to join the Framework below!

Today's gonna be a tough subject.

Does God care if I'm overweight?

What does the Bible say?

1 Corinthians 6 19 says, or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit?

Who is in you?

Whom you have from God, and you are not your own, for you were bought at a price, therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's.

Romans 12 one says, I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.

First Corinthians 1031 says, so whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

The list goes on, my friends.

I highly recommend you start praying and searching God's word for what he says about your body.

When we are open and honest with ourselves, and can prayerfully tune into the power of the Holy Spirit in us, he reveals to us what we need, the chains to break, and healthy, unhealthy habits that we need to replace.

Are you sick of trying diet after diet and not losing weight?

Are you tired of doubting your ability to actually lose weight in a healthy way?

Do you wish you could find a laid out for you plan that will help you stay accountable to your goals?

Hey friends, I'm Lindy Schlabach, Christian Fitness & Nutrition Coach.

I gained 100 pounds in my late 20s and struggled for years to get it off.

So grab your pre-workout and let's chat.

I've lost over 90 pounds in my journey.

I gained 100 pounds in my late 20s and I struggled for years to get it off.

I followed every fad diet, every calorie counting, every anything that promised me weight loss and none of it worked.

Years later, God called me to build my business biblically.

And that's why I created this framework.

I know God has called me to help women just like you find what I have, which is not a quick fix or a fad diet.

It's to learn to honor Him with our choices, with our body.

Join the Biblical Weight Loss Framework.

Let's take a Holy Spirit led approach to weight loss God's way.

This is a five step proven formula that will give you a step by step approach to healing your mind so you can heal your body and walk in your God given purpose.

It is never too late to give God your body and try again.

You don't have to compare yourself to every person on social media.

You don't have to be frustrated every morning when you wake up and look in the mirror.

We get to love our body.

We get to move our bodies and honor God with our choices.

Now, it cares if you're overweight because it takes away from your ability to truly walk in your purpose.

Let me be clear, he loves you just as you are right now today.

He also wants you to rely on him for all things instead of food or sugar or diets or alcohol or shopping or social media or whatever habit you're ingesting that's keeping you carrying extra weight and pain and trauma.

When we truly dig in to prayer and fasting and ask him to speak to us, he will reveal exactly what it is we need to do and why it is important for us to heal.

Then we get to walk out boldly that promise through obedience to the Holy Spirit, regardless of the outcome of weight loss.

This is not about weight loss.

This is about you connecting with the Holy Spirit and learning to tune in to your movement choices, your food choices.

I know you want to lose weight or you would not be listening to my podcast right now.

I know you want to give God your weight and your health and your habits.

What is holding you back from joining the Biblical Weight Loss Framework?

For the 4,000th time, let's read Psalm 139, 23, and 24.

Searching God and know my heart, test me and know my anxious thoughts.

See if there is any offensive way in me and lead me in the way everlasting.

He has more for your life.

When you are living in doubt and fear and distraction, the enemy loves it.

The enemy wants you to stay stuck in fad diets and being overweight, because then you're focused on everything else but God.

God wants more for you.

We have to learn to eat more of the right foods and be in the Word daily, communing with Him through prayer and connection with the Holy Spirit.

We have to learn to move and rest and hydrate and Sabbath and cruelly rest.

We have to give up the things that don't serve us or keep us too busy to food prep or exercise.

Listen, something I heard years ago that really convicted me said, the busiest, most successful people in the world make time to exercise and live healthy.

We all have the same amount of time during the day.

You probably just need to spend more time with Jesus and less on your phone.

I mean, let's be honest here.

Jesus meets us where we are.

He loves you today in the body that you are in right now.

He loves you.

He meets us in our mess.

We can take all of our areas of struggle, and He will give us the tools that we need to lose the weight.

And we don't do it for the weight loss.

We don't do it for the pants size.

We do it to glorify Him and the work that He does constantly and consistently in our lives.

You will never lose the weight and keep it off if you're trying to do it on your own.

Trust me, I've tried.

Fad diet after fad diet, after ounce, frustration after frustration.

The Word tells us that we have more power than Jesus did when He rose from the grave.

You have resurrection power inside of you.

Do you walk in that every day?

No, you don't.

When we carry the extra weight of shame and hurt and trauma in our life, we can't heal, we can't forgive, and when we hold on to unforgiveness, God doesn't forgive us.

We need to get on our knees, repent.

We need to pray for discernment and wisdom and knowledge and let God move in our life and in our body.

He isn't admitting in a bottle, though.

You have to do the work.

We read in scripture that faith without works is dead.

We don't work to earn heaven.

That's a free gift.

If Christ is your personal savior, you already get to go to heaven.

But if we want God to show up for us and heal our bodies so we can lose the weight and walk in purpose, we better be showing up for him every morning and giving him our first fruits.

He wants our first fruits, my friend, not our lukewarm leftovers that maybe we have at the end of the day.

And a lot of it cares if you're overweight because it's distracting you from what he needs you to do in your life.

And maybe it's setting your kids up for also unhealthy habits and we don't want that either.

Food is not a band-aid.

Exercise is not a band-aid.

We move and eat to glorify God because the word tells us to.

That middle part of 1 Corinthians 10 31 is my favorite.

So whether you eat or drink, here it is, ready?

Or whatever you do.

How you move, how you speak, how you walk, how you treat other people.

Do it all for the glory of God.

Waste is living inside of you.

Do you want him living in an overweight, unhealthy body?

If you're constantly shaming yourself for your food choices or obsessing about what you're eating, or constantly thinking that you need to have a sweet treat in the middle of the afternoon instead of a drink of water and a prayer, he's not the Lord of your life.

We have to remove the idols.

We have to replace them with Holy Spirit conviction and then the courage to walk in obedience.

When we carry extra weight, it's very hard on the heart.

When we carry visceral fat around our midsection ladies, it causes heart disease.

Heart disease is the number one pillar of women.

An ozempic is a horrible band-aid.

Yet another ploy by Big Pharma to keep women distracted and focused on their weight.

I know women, I've worked with women who have had weight loss surgery that if they don't heal in their minds, the weight comes back because the temptation to eat our feelings is always there if we're not leaning on the Holy Spirit.

You have to want to change, but it's not even about wanting to change.

You have to be willing to do the work.

Faith without works is dead.

We cannot expect God to just snap his fingers and us be at our weight loss journey or weight loss goal.

He needs us to do the work.

When we throw up every day, we get up five to ten minutes early every day and we pray, we give him our first fruits, we open the Bible and read what he said.

What does his word say?

And then God, how can I apply that into my life today?

Your body is a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God.

That is your spiritual worship.

What is holding you back?

Join the Biblical Weight Loss Framework.

Let me help you.

We will create specific for you strategies that will help you lose the weight in a Biblical manner, but you won't even be focused on the weight loss.

You'll just be focused with connecting with the Holy Spirit, and pretty soon, once you work through the stages of the framework, and you start to pray and heal and work through the steps that I'm gonna give you, pretty soon, you're gonna just be lighter in your spirit, in your heart, and He's gonna be able to open you and work in you in a way that you never have before.

You are worth it.

He loves you today where you are.

He wants to meet you where you are, in your mess, in your unhealthy habits, in the way that you lean on everything else except Him.

Repentance is there.

Repent, ask Him to forgive you, and ask Him to instill in you the habit that you need in order to live a godly life in your body, holy and pleasing to Him.

It's not about the weight.

It's about removing the idols in our lives that keep us from focusing on his work and his fruit.

It was real conviction for me at 100 pounds overweight, even though I wasn't connected to God.

He was always there moving in me, and he's there moving in you too.

But we have to take this step, and he will be there to lead us and guide us.

Hey sis, I hope you enjoyed today's episode.
