I often feel like I'm doing everything right, yet don't see the progress I want to or think I should be seeing. Do you ever feel like you're stuck even though you're trying SO hard? The struggle is real and if I'm being honest, it sucks sometimes. Isaiah 40:31 says "but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint. Remembering that God cares more about a heart posture of obedience than your weight.

A few ways I've learned to focus on God's way instead of my own:

1- Learn to recognize and celebrate those seemingly small wins and lean into God's word and letting Him measure the progress of our heart posture instead of the scale.

2- Tuck a verse in your heart that helps you stay the course. Galatians 6:9 is my go-to. "Let us not grow weary in doing good for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."

3- Focus on faithfulness and obedience to the Holy Spirit rather than the outcome or speed of your progress. Recognizing that when we glorify Him with our body and choices, He can do the work in us He wants to do!

You are right where you need to be beloved, trust that God is right there with you and He sees the desires of your heart.

I so often feel like I'm doing everything right.

I'm exercising, I'm sleeping well, I'm intaking my water, I'm for the most part nailing my macros, but I don't see the progress that I want to or think I should be seeing.

Please tell me I'm not alone.

Do you ever feel like you're stuck, even though you're trying so hard?

The struggle is real, and if I'm being honest, it just really sucks sometimes.

Prosting God when the process feels slow, oh man, it's just, it takes a serious amount of trust and faith.

Isaiah chapter 40 verse 31 says, but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.

They will soar on wings like eagles.

They will run and not grow weary.

They will walk and not be faint.

Remembering that God cares more about our posture of obedience than our weight takes some serious mental change, but it is possible.

Are you sick of trying diet after diet and not losing weight?

Are you tired of doubting your ability to actually lose weight in a healthy way?

I cannot wait to see you in there.

Okay, so today we are going to be talking about trusting God when the process feels slow.

So I just read to you Isaiah 40 31, but I feel like it's worth a redo.

So it says, But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.

They will soar on wings like eagles.

They will run and not grow weary.

They will walk and not be faint.

Do you find the hope and peace in that that I do?

I really hope so.

So today we're going to talk about trusting God when the process feels slow.

Okay, so what do we know about God's timing?

One thing that I have learned in almost 43 years of life, I'll be 43 in June, is that it looks like our timing.

I waited 40 years until I got married.

I didn't meet Darryl until I was, I think, 37.

And 42, I'm just now, like Darryl and I are just in the process of adopting a baby.

I didn't become a parent until I was 42.

That was never even a consideration in my 20s.

Like I thought in my 20s that when you turned 30, your life was over.

My weight loss journey was far slower, is far slower than I could ever have hoped for.

And I still struggle with that mindset because I know God continues to teach me and change me what true health in him looks like.

And he's often making us wait because we're not ready to handle the responsibility of the change yet.

I know that I am still learning every single day about letting go of my food choices and body shame.

And I have been at this for over a decade.

Well, we will never be whole and healed until Christ returns.

But that doesn't mean that we can't do our best while we're here.

Scripture is very clear about what we are to do in our bodies.

We need to be holy and heavenly prepared.

We have to walk out the Great Commission, shining light of Christ everywhere we go and making disciples as we go.

It's so hard sometimes when the process feels slow, but we remember that the flowers, they don't grow on the mountaintop.

They grow in the valley where things are hard.

Learning to love ourselves in the valley is where we start to see our worth beyond our weight.

Two plus years ago, when God was telling me to follow a macro plan, I was exhausted.

I was overtrained.

My body was constantly hurting.

He had told me that I needed more food and less weights, like I stopped lifting heavy weights.

It wasn't until that process that God showed me any weight loss, but I had to trust him to eat more food than I ever had and let go of the idea of less is more.

I had preached that to clients for years, but I was not practicing what I preach.

Less is not more when it comes to Biblical weight loss.

And we learn to fuel our bodies according to the Holy Spirit direction in our lives instead of what diet culture has taught us over the years.

Only then can God begin to break the chains of diet culture and help us move past our desires for vanity and weight loss and wearing a certain size or having abs or whatever our goal is that is maybe not honoring to him.

So I want to share with you a few ways that I have learned to focus on God's way instead of my own.

One of those is to celebrate those seemingly small wins are really the ones that add up to big results that only come from consistently leaning into God's word and letting him measure the progress of our heart posture instead of the scale.

I also like to have a Bible verse tucked in my heart that helps me stay the course when I feel like progress is slow.

Galatians 6.9 is one of my favorites.

Let us not grow weary in doing good for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

What a beautiful promise from our Savior.

He is speaking through Paul to the church in Galatia who was constantly up against persecution from the church.

He was reminding them to stay the course and stay in step with the Holy Spirit.

Doesn't that apply to our biblical weight loss journey?

Of course it does.

Do not grow weary in doing the good things, the seemingly small things.

Those are the ones that are going to add up to big result.

It's the consistency that counts.

Progress over perfection, obedience over the outcome.

These are the areas where God sees your heart posture and he rewards you not only with weight loss but with that peace that comes with just having him in your heart.

Third thing I like to do is focus on my faithfulness and obedience to the Holy Spirit.

We cannot focus on the speed of our progress and learning to give yourself grace is a huge win.

Pressing on a treat is a huge win if it's not something that you've scheduled in your macro plan.

Letting God lead is better than the speed of your journey.

Recognizing that when we glorify him with our body and our choices, only then can he do the work in us that he wants to do.

Listen, your progress makes a difference.

Your seemingly small progress isn't making a difference.

One more ounce of water, one more minute of sleep, one more minute in prayer, one more minute focusing and spending time with Jesus first thing every morning, one more minute in your workout, one more minute prepping your food, one more minute using to be grateful for your body instead of shaming her for how you think she should be.

Focus on the progress that you feel and see even if it's not reflected on the scale.

Heavenly Father, we thank you for this day.

We thank you for the promise and the hope that we have in your son Jesus and we thank you, Father, for renewing our strength and giving us hope in this journey that sometimes just feels really slow and really hard.

Let us not become discouraged when the scale isn't moving, and let us maybe just stay off of the scale, Lord.

Give us the strength and the fruit of self-control.

Give us the patience for our body because we know that oftentimes we've been through things that we don't even understand, that our brains can't process, but our bodies just, they want to do what we want them to do.

We just sometimes need to give them the grace that they require and the rest that they require, Lord.

And we thank you for the opportunity for new mercies every day and that we can make a new choice in the next minute.

And when we feel like it's not enough, Lord, that we know that we don't have to live in workspace religion.

You don't call us to that.

You call us to lay down ourselves at the foot of the cross and to die to ourselves every day.

And we thank you, Lord, that our hope is in you and that you renew our strength and that we get to soar on your wings like eagles and that you're going to help us to not grow weary when things seem hard, that you restore us, that it is our promise in the hope of a risen Savior that we get to focus on instead of what the world says we should be or who we should be.

We thank you, Lord, for this reminder.

We thank you for constantly renewing our strength.

Give us hope in the promise that you care about what we care about, that you care about our body, you care about our weight loss journey.

We thank you for leading and guiding and directing us, Lord, in the way that you would have us go.

Amen.
