“Let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.” —Romans 12:2 (NLT)

Have you ever fallen into any of these mindset traps?

  • Perfectionism: “If I mess up, I’ve failed.”

  • All-or-nothing: “If I can’t do it perfectly, I might as well quit.”

  • Punishment mindset: “I have to earn food or burn off what I ate.”

But what happens when we lean in with a Biblical Mindset Shift:

  • We shift from perfection → to progress.

  • From punishment → to grace-filled discipline.

  • From “dieting” → to stewarding God’s gift of health and our bodies as the Word commands.

Heavenly Father, thank you for this beautiful body, help me love myself as You tell me to and speak and think life over my body, help me renew my mind Lord. I want to see myself through your eyes Lord—worthy, loved, and capable. Give me the courage to break free from destructive thoughts and embrace the truth that I am a new creation in You. Thank You for continued conviction in this area of my life. I love you Lord, Amen.

Let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Romans 12.2 from the NLT. Okay, so please tell me I'm not alone here.

Have you ever started strong on a new diet only to quit a few weeks later? I know I have more times than I can count, if I'm being honest. And I'm guessing maybe you have too.

And I want to remind you today that you're not alone, and it's never too late to try again, no matter what the lie in your head tells you. The problem is usually the food plan, but it's also the mindset behind it.

Diet culture tells us to exercise more and eat less. Diet culture has trained us to think in extremes. You're either on or you're off.

You're either all in or nothing. And these are all lies. Thankfully, God calls us to something better.

Transformation from the inside out to the power of the Holy Spirit. Are you sick of trying diet after diet and not losing weight? Are you tired of doubting your ability to actually lose weight in a healthy way?

Do you wish you could find a laid out for you plan that will help you stay accountable to your goals? Hey, friends, I'm Lindy Schlabach, Christian Fitness & Nutrition Coach. I gained 100 pounds in my late 20s and struggled for years to get it off.

So, grab your pre-workout and let's chat. I want to invite you to the Biblical Weight Loss Framework and take a Holy Spirit led approach to weight loss God's way. Listen, I know it's overwhelming to think about one more thing.

I know it's overwhelming to think, well, what if I invest and then I don't do anything? Okay, well, what if you invest and God actually changes you from the inside out?

What if everything that you've been listening to me talk about over the past year and a half actually starts to work in your life? What if? What if?

Pray, ask the Lord to leave you and if he leads you to the framework, go to the show notes and join us. You can find the link below or herweightlossmindset.com/framework, that's herweightlossmindset.com/framework. We do, I do group coaching.

It's accountability. I will actually coach you on how to apply the things that you'll learn in the framework to your own personal journey. It's everything from recognizing mindset triggers, to time block, to planning, to...

It's literally everything that you would need to accomplish your goal. So go to the show notes and click the link and sign up below. So I would like to know if you've ever fallen into any of these mindset traps.

Perfectionism is the first one. If I mess up, I've failed. What's the point?

Or maybe it's the all or nothing mindset. If I can't do it perfectly, I might as well quit. Or maybe it's the punishment mindset.

I have to earn food or burn off what I ate. This is the one I struggle with the most. I struggle with all of them, if we're being honest, but that punishment mindset is really, really hard for me.

So what happens if we start to take a Holy Spirit led approach to our mindset? What if we shift from perfection to progress? What if we shift from punishment to grace-filled discipline, which we read in Galatians as a fruit of the spirit?

What if we move from dieting to stewarding God's gift of health and our bodies as the word commands? So I want you to think about a couple of things as you move through these thoughts and replace your flesh with God's truth. So think about this.

What negative thought about your body or weight loss do you find yourself repeating over and over and over? And then pray over it and ask God to reveal his truth to you. And then write down what he says and let that become the anthem of your life.

When we start to seek the truth through the Holy Spirit as opposed to the lies that are in our head, we have to break those mindset traps that are keeping us stuck.

I've said this to you a thousand times, if you have seven days in a week and you nail one day, your workout, your water, your sleep, your meal, everything, that's amazing. Celebrate it. Because most people get one, maybe two days like that a month.

We're not moving towards perfection. We're moving towards progress. Something that you can focus on today to move beyond what you did better yesterday.

Maybe that's two more ounces of water. Maybe that's a hundred more steps. Maybe that's one more push up.

Maybe that's one less cookie. It's going to be different in every season of life that you're in. And it's really letting the Lord speak to you and show you the areas of life where you're being more successful, even if it seems like it doesn't matter.

It all matters. It's consistency and small steps that matter. So I also want you to ask yourself what truth from God's Word can you use to replace that thought?

Ask Him to give you a verse and He will. Maybe you have one already. Write it down every day and then read it out loud.

And then ask yourself how you can apply it to that day. When you see the verse, then you write the verse, then you read the verse. Those are three ways that your brain and your body are penetrating that through your spirit.

And then just say, Lord, let me use this in every choice that I make today to honor you. And the last question I want you to ask yourself is, how would it change your journey if you focused on progress instead of trying to be perfect?

How could it change your perspective if you started to view weight loss as an act of worship? The thoughts that we think, the way that we talk to ourselves, they all affect our weight loss journey.

I'm telling you what, I'm not feeling real confident in my body right now. I went to Florida. I felt amazing.

I came home. I felt amazing. And I don't know what's going on with my body, but I am bloated.

I can't seem to nail my macros. I am just in a season of funk. And so I'm not sharing this with you today because I have it all figured out.

I'm sharing it with you because I'm constantly, continuously going through the fire. I'm constantly continuing to have to do these things. I am not the end goal of my weight loss journey because I keep picking it up.

I don't hop on here every week and share with you because I have it all figured out. I have the principles. I live the principles every day.

I still struggle and you will too. But when we can learn to lean on God and let him replace our negative mindset with the biblical mindset, we start to change. That's the difference.

I am constantly and continually leaning on him and my choices. Listen, your body is not the enemy, and you don't have to be perfect to honor God with your health. It's those seemingly small faithful steps that count.

It's the only ones, to be honest, that lead to sustainable lifelong change. This week, I want you to think about the words that you speak over your body and the thoughts that you have about your weight loss journey.

I want you to catch one negative thought and replace it with God's truth. And write that on a sticky note, put it on your fridge, put it on your mirror. Pray it out loud when that lie seems to show up.

Oftentimes, we seem to blame the enemy, but it's usually a lie from ourselves, or maybe someone who planted it in you. And we have to ask God to reveal that. Repent, seek Him, and let it wash away.

It is not His truth. Heavenly Father, thank you for this beautiful body. Help me to love myself as you do, and tell me to speak and think life over my body today.

Help me renew my mind, Lord. I want to see myself through your eyes, worthy, loved, and capable. Father, give me the courage to break free from destructive thoughts and embrace the truth that I am a new creation in you.

Thank you for new mercies every day. Thank you for the continued conviction in this area of my life. I love you so much, Lord.

Amen. Hey sis, I hope you enjoyed today's episode. If so, would you take 30 seconds and share it with a friend?

Also, please leave a quick review for the show on Apple Podcasts. It lights me up to know this podcast is helping you. Okay, it's time to go make a protein shake and get my sweat on.

No more standing in the kitchen waiting for motivation to appear. I will meet you back here for another episode. God bless.
