Walking with God- How 8,000 Steps Can Strengthen Your Faith
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Micah 6:8 “ He has shown you, o mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to walk humbly with your God.”
walked where He went, walking is biblical and something we vastly under-rate.
1️⃣ Walking Is Biblical
2️⃣ Movement as Prayer Time
3️⃣ Steps of Faith, Not Just Fitness
How can you walk this out in daily life?
- Commit to a no phone or music Prayer Walk: dedicate the first 5 minutes to prayer.
- Take some Scripture Steps: meditate on a verse as you walk and ask Him how you can apply it to your life right now.
- Gratitude Lap: thank God for one blessing per block. You should be able to do much more than one blessing per block, but you get the point.
Lord, I get so busy, please help me slow down and walk with You daily. Father Make my steps steady, intentional, and Spirit-led. I only want what You want for me Lord, help me to lay down the rest. Thank you for who You are. Amen.

I'm so glad you're here. So today we're talking about something simple, powerful, and often overlooked. We're talking about walking, and not just walking for fitness, but for fellowship with our Holy Father.
Those daily steps can become sacred when you invite him into your journey. Isn't that so exciting? So today's scripture is Micah 6, 8.
It says, He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and walk humbly with your God.
In this verse, in this chapter of Micah, God is calling out to Israel who had turned their backs on him, and he was calling them to turn to him and give up their idols in their pagan ways.
We don't want to live as the Israelites did, but act justly and walk humbly with our God, don't we? How do we do that in everyday life? How do we walk out the truth that he calls us to?
And what if walking out that truth isn't just about burning calories, but building closeness with Christ? What a thought. Are you sick of trying diet after diet and not losing weight?
Are you tired of doubting your ability to actually lose weight in a healthy way? Do you wish you could find a laid out for you plan that will help you stay accountable to your goals?
Hey friends, I'm Lindy Schlabach, Christian Fitness & Nutrition Coach. I gained 100 pounds in my late 20s and struggled for years to get it off. So grab your pre-workout and let's chat.

That's herweightlossmindset.com/framework. So I don't know about you, but I love to walk. And I try to walk the babe and the pup a couple of miles a day, at least three to five days a week.
There's just something about being out in nature. And we live on a five-leg chain. It's such a beautiful place, especially this fall.
It's just, it's so lovely with the warmer temperatures and the trees are so vividly changing. Like watching God's masterpiece on full display is such a blessing. I remember years and years where I struggled to walk anywhere.
I was 250 pounds. I hate the days now that I have to miss, but back then it seemed like such a chore. There's just something so therapeutic about being outside in nature.
And we know that Jesus didn't have cars back then or bikes, so he walked where he went, right? Walking is biblical and it's something that we so often underrate. Jesus didn't rush.
He walked with his disciples. He took his time. Even knowing that Lazarus was dead before he raised him, he waited four days before he went back to Mary and Martha.
He waited before he walked back to them. He didn't rush. Walking is biblical.
It's in the slow times, not the sprint that God often speaks to us. I would love to know some of the things that you have realized when you're walking. I hope you're walking in a quiet mode without a podcast or music in your ear all the time.
I want you to seek the silence. I want you to seek your heavenly father. He has so many things that he wants to say to you.
I know that it's so easy to just pop your earbuds in. Maybe you don't want to make eye contact with people, talk to people. Trust me, I get it.
I've had times where I actually put my earbuds in and I'm not even listening to anything. I just don't want to talk to people. But that's not what God calls us to, is it?
Let's get involved in our community. Movement is also prayer time. You can use your walks to pray, to worship, to reflect and listen, focusing on gratitude, focusing on all of the things that God has done in your life.
Some of my best conversations come from walking with God, not a sound, except nature in my prayer. We have to learn to be bored. We have to be learned to be still in our thoughts so that the Holy Spirit can speak to us.
I want you to turn off the noise. I want you to ask the Lord to speak to you as you walk. I know this is hard.
We live in a time of constant entertainment. But I want you to turn off the earbuds, turn off the TV, and just go outside and listen to whatever is around you. Maybe it's traffic, maybe it's nature, maybe it's water, maybe it's you're in a cornfield.
He speaks so often through the birds and the traffic and the sounds that are right where we are. You never know who you're going to encourage by walking without a phone attached to your ear.
If you're always trying to avoid people, that is not how we make disciples as we go. Movement is prayer time. Walking is biblical.
We take steps of faith, not just for fitness. Every step you take symbolizes perseverance. I want you to think about things that you've walked away from.
I want you to think about things that maybe have been hard that you've walked into, a new job, a new relationship, a new parenting situation. Where do you need to walk into today? When we keep walking to the father, he shows up.
That's where he wants us to be. Think about all of the blessings that you have in your life. Did you wake up with hands and feet?
Did you wake up with strong legs? If so, use them. Get to step and not everyone woke up with that blessing today.
We are focusing on steps of faith, not just fitness. The title of this podcast is How 8,000 Steps Can Strengthen Your Day. The original title of the podcast was How 10,000 Steps Can Strengthen Your Faith.
But honestly, sometimes it's how 6,000 steps, or 5,000 steps, or 4,000 steps. The number of the steps don't matter. It's making intentional time to be with the Lord while you're walking outside enjoying the beauty around you.
There is no right number of steps. 10,000 is not the magic number. For me, if I can get 6,000 to 8,000 a day, that's my goal.
I walk, try to walk 2 miles. If I walk 2 miles, I know I'm taking about 4,200 steps. I don't get that every day.
That's okay wherever you are. Just focus on where you are, what you're doing, what you can do. And don't let it be about the calories.
Don't let it be about the steps. Let it be about communing with your Holy Father. Let walking remind you that progress is made by steady steps.
It's about intentional time to move. It isn't about burning calories or what you're going to get out of it. Sometimes it's simply honoring him by moving the body that he put you in.
So I want you to think about a couple of things that you can do to walk this out in daily life. I want you to commit to a no phone or music prayer walk. Dedicate the first 5 to 10 minutes to prayer or your entire walk.
Just walk and pray. Next thing you can do is take some scripture steps.
Think about a verse that's encouraging you right now and meditate on it as you walk and then ask the Lord how you can apply it to your life right now or maybe there's a verse that he has for you that you need to focus on.
Let that verse become the noise in your head. So many times, it's the frustration that we should or we didn't get our steps in or we didn't do this or we didn't do that.
But when we implant scripture in our hearts, that becomes the voice and that is the best kind of music that we can have playing on repeat in our heads, right? Think a gratitude lap.
Maybe you don't have a lot of time at your lunch hour, but you can go outside and do a lap around the parking lot. Thank God for your blessings. Take that lap.
Take five to eight minutes, ten minutes, and walk a lap around the parking lot and just list out the blessings that God has placed in your life. Listen, friend, don't underestimate these seemingly small steps. God uses the simple to do the sacred.
God uses the simple to do the sacred. One walk may refresh your body. One walk may realign your spirit.
You never know what he's going to speak to you when you're open to listening to his voice. Lord, I get so busy. Please help me slow down and walk with you intentionally every day.
Father, make my steps steady and focused on you. Make them Holy Spirit led. I only want what you want for me, Lord.
Help me to lay down my flesh. Help me to lay down the things that don't serve me or help me serve you. And fill me with what it is that I need today.
Thank you for who you are, Lord. And thank you for who you continue to make me. I love you so much.
Amen. So if you want to turn everyday habits like steps, meal, meal prep, and rest into holy moments, join the Biblical Weight Loss Framework, a Holy Spirit led approach to weight loss God's way. Walk this journey with women of faith.
