Proverbs 23:7 “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.”

But, there’s hope! Beliefs can change, praise God! And when they do—everything changes.

Here are a few steps to take today to help you realign your beliefs:

STEP 1: IDENTIFY THE LIE - What are you believing about yourself? Be honest. Ask the Lord to reveal all you need to know, this will take time. This is daily praying Psalm 139:23-24.

STEP 2: REPLACE IT WITH TRUTH - Not your opinion—God’s truth. 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come."

STEP 3: ACT LIKE THE NEW VERSION OF YOU- Even before it feels natural. Identity is built through action. Fake it til ya make it baby!

STEP 4: STOP REINFORCING THE OLD STORY - Your words matter. Stop saying: “I can’t” “I always fail” or I’ll try.

Action Step: As you journal this week ask the Lord what belief is keeping you stuck? Write what you know and anything else He reveals. Ask Him to take it, then lay it at the foot of the cross.

Lord, Renew my mind. Help me see myself the way You see me Father, help me to claim victory when the journey feels so long. Let me look only at today Lord and how I can honor You with my life and my choices. Break the lies I’ve been believing and replace them with You Truth. Thank You for new mercies Father, help me to listen to the Holy Spirit inside me. I love You Jesus. Amen.

This is a short and sweet. I've been feeling in love with you the past few weeks, and I would love for you to go back and re-listen to these episodes. I've explained to you over and over that knowledge isn't power, applied knowledge is power.

So you have to pick one thing and start working on that one thing and let the Lord lead you to what that is. Today's episode, you keep self-sabotaging because you don't actually believe you'll change. This is Deeper Than Habits.

Today we're talking about belief. Because if deep down you don't believe you can change, you're not going to. Listen, there were so many years at 250 pounds that I didn't believe I could actually change and lose the weight.

I didn't believe that I could build good habits and I certainly didn't think I would have a Christian podcast. I felt so far away from God at that point. But I am so thankful that my thoughts aren't His and my ways aren't His either.

I mean, can I get an Amen? So, today we're talking self-sabotage. So buckle up and let's go.

Hey, friend. Welcome to the podcast where we talk about weight loss a little differently. Not just calories and workouts, but the heart, the habits, and the beliefs behind it all.

Because this isn't about just losing weight. It's about becoming the woman God is calling you to be.

So if you're tired of starting over, stuck in cycles with food, and ready to invite God into this journey for real change, once and for all, you're in the right place. So let's get into today's episode.

It says, for as he thinks in his heart, so is he. Self-sabotage, it's not random. Self-sabotage points back at self.

Again, looking inward, which is sinful. This is rooted in identity, an identity that could have been given to you by someone not worthy of you, but it's still in you. Lies implanted in you from a young age or maybe an unhealthy relationship.

I shared with you again about my assault a couple episodes ago. Like my identity was so rooted in that for so long and I didn't even realize it because I had pushed it so far down.

There are many places that identity can come from, but what we have to remember is that our true identity is in Jesus. And when we do that, the old and healthy lies, they can be replaced.

Lies that sound like, I always mess this up, or this never works for me, or I'll just gain it back anyway. So when things start going well, you're moving in the right direction, you pull back, you slip.

You undo progress because your belief system hasn't caught up with your God-given identity and the truth of who you are and whose you are. Or you have one day where you make an off decision and you feel like, oh, I screwed up again.

Like, what's the point? But there's hope, my friend. Beliefs can change, praise God.

And when they do, everything else changes. So today we're going to talk about a few steps that you can take to realign your beliefs. One, identify the lie.

Write it down in your journal. What lies are you believing about yourself? Be honest.

Ask the Lord to reveal all you need to know. This might take some time. This is daily praying, Psalm 139, 23, and 24.

Show it to me, Lord. I want to heal from it. Write it down.

Write it down. Write it down in your journal. And then step two is replace it with the truth.

Not your opinion, but the truth of the word. 2 Corinthians 5 17, therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away.

Behold, the new has come. You are not your past patterns unless you choose to stay in them. You are a daughter of the king.

And we have to learn to replace the lies in our head with God's holy truth, which is the only truth. The old has passed away, my friend. The new has come.

Walk in that truth. You are no longer your past. You are no longer your past.

You are who you choose to be today. Step three, act like the new version of you, even before it feels natural, because identity is built through action. Like, they could tell you make it, right?

So God doesn't want you to have it all together. That's not the point. Like, he wants you to bring it all to him and let him lead.

So walk in his truth, even if you don't feel like it. You're not gonna feel like it all the time. And it's not only when you have a scale victory, or you know, you feel like you win because you pass on a cookie.

Like, act like the new version of you because you are loved right now today as you are. I am loved, I am capable, I am healed, healthy, and whole. Repeat these things out loud.

I rebuke the lies of the enemy in Jesus' name. I am a person of action, I am strong, I am faithful. I am a child of the most high God.

Your words will reflect who you become. Stop saying, I'm tired, I'll never change. Start speaking God's truth into your life.

Which leads me to step four. Stop reinforcing the old story. Your words matter.

Stop saying, I can't, I always fail, or I'll try. No, do! Go back to that last episode and listen again.

Like start claiming victory. Start saying, God is changing me. I'm learning to be consistent.

I'm learning to discern the voice of the living God who lives and dwells in me. My friend, you cannot keep speaking defeat and expect a victory. Like at some point, you have to agree with God.

You have to speak his truth over the doubt and the lies in your head. But that only comes when you wake up early with intention and start every day in prayer and Bible study. One to three verses.

You don't have to spend an hour. Ten minutes to start is perfect. Then you'll crave that time.

You'll want more. You'll find yourself tuning more into him throughout the day. And what a blessing.

That is the entire point. Not just connecting with God in the morning, but all throughout the day. Lead me, Lord.

Guide my choices. Help me to do the next right thing. So as you journal this week, ask the Lord what belief is keeping you stuck.

What areas of your life do you keep sabotaging? And then write the truth of the verse underneath that. Cross it out.

We're not believing that lie anymore. Ask him to take it, he will, and then lay it at the foot of the cross and let it go. Holy Father, renew my mind.

Help me see me the way you see me, Father. Help me to claim victory when the journey feels so long. Help me look only at today, Father, and how I can honor you with my life and my choices.

I don't want to live in self-sabotage anymore. I know I can change, Lord, because you are in me. Help me to only focus on today and how I can honor you with my life and my choices today.

Break the lies I've been believing and help me replace them with your truth. Thank you for new mercies each day, Jesus. Help me to listen to the Holy Spirit inside of me.

I love you. Amen. Beloved, this isn't about doing everything perfectly, okay?

This is about becoming consistent in the things that actually matter. Waking up, spending time with the Lord in prayer and in the Word. So don't just walk away from this episode inspired.

Walk away making a decision to start every day with Jesus. What is one thing that you're gonna do differently today? Just start there.

And if this episode spoke to you, share it with a friend who needs it too. Because you are not the only one who's walking through this. And if you would, would you go to Apple Podcasts and leave me a review?
