Healthy Guilt

  • Signals misalignment with your values
  • Leads to repair, apology, accountability
  • Has a purpose

Toxic Guilt

  • You feel bad for having needs
  • You feel bad for someone else’s reaction
  • You feel bad for choosing growth
  • You replay old decisions you made with limited information “Healthy guilt teaches. Toxic guilt traps.”

Why We Hold On To Guilt

  •  We think guilt equals goodness.
  • We think carrying guilt proves we care.
