From chaotic industry stories and accidental green room segregation to \a fully realized business plan for a nationwide gay bar van hookup tour, the trio spiral through topics like health nihilism (“everything causes cancer, so fuck it”), Mad Men–induced cigarette cravings, and the erotic undertones of hockey stretches. A listener calls in asking how to stay creative and consistent in comedy writing, and Jana, Brian, and Hayden offer advice rooted in reality: abandon the myth of perfect discipline, capture ideas however they come (voice memos in the shower, notes app in bed, panic-writing minutes before stage), and create external accountability. The only real way to get better is to get up, bomb, adjust, and try again. Ultimately, it’s an episode about giving yourself permission to be messy, following the bit wherever it leads, and trusting that your creative voice will show up.
