We’re moving through a collective threshold where old identities fall away fast, and what looks like loss can be the start of real alignment. We name the cycles behind this moment and ground it in nervous system regulation, shadow work, and the full-spectrum feminine that knows how to dismantle what’s dead and build what’s true.

• cyclical time across traditions and why transitions feel like fire
• Kali Yuga, Fourth Turning, and the sense of collective acceleration
• nervous system capacity as the limiter on visibility, love, leadership, and change
• somatic healing and attachment patterns shaping what feels safe to receive
• Jung’s individuation and shadow work speeding up in collective crisis
• becoming a container who can hold uncertainty without collapsing
• Grof’s spiritual emergency and why support beats suppression
• regulation as what makes sustained awakening possible
• reclaiming the feminine as creation and sacred destruction
• three integration anchors: name what is dying, tend your nervous system, find your people
• reflection questions to deepen grief, power, and community

I have a very small favor to ask you if you are enjoying these episodes, if you are receiving value from them, if you could just take a quick moment to leave a review as it really helps the podcast grow and reach more people.
If something in you said yes while you were listening today, if you felt recognized somewhere in this conversation, come to the masterclass on May 20th, because this is the work that we are going to be doing together, not just intellectually, but in your body where change actually lives. So you can find the link in the show notes, and hopefully I will see you there.

Welcome To Body Wisdom Rising

SPEAKER_00

Welcome to Body Wisdom Rising. I'm your host, Alyssa. We're living at a profound turning point in humanity, a collective choice point where old systems are dissolving, and many of us are being called to wake up, heal, and step into deeper alignment with who we truly are. On this podcast, we explore consciousness, healing, ancestral wisdom, and the initiations that shape our lives. We also explore how to navigate times of great change and what it means when healing begins to open the door to deeper questions. Who am I really? Why am I here? And how am I being called to serve in this moment of history? Here we talk about the collective themes unfolding in our world and how each of us can learn to meet them with greater awareness, embodiment, and courage. Because real transformation doesn't just happen in the mind, it happens through the body. If you're on a path of awakening, healing, remembering, and perhaps stepping into service, you're in the right place. This is Body Wisdom Rising.

I have a very small favor to ask you if you are enjoying these episodes, if you are receiving value from them, if you could just take a quick moment to leave a review as it really helps the podcast grow and reach more people. I'd appreciate that so much. And today, what we're going to be diving into is why so many people right now are going through what feels like multiple deaths in a single lifetime, why spiritual awakenings are accelerating, why the most sensitive and aware people are being cracked open the hardest, and what your nervous system actually needs to get navigate this without burning out or shutting down. We're going to talk about ancient cycles and what so many traditions have always known about this exact window of time. We are going to go into Carl Jung's process of individuation and what happens when that process gets compressed. We are going to talk about Stan Groff's work on spiritual emergency, what it actually is, and why what looks like breakdown is so often breakthrough. And we're going to talk about the feminine, the rise of the feminine, not the soft, palatable, yielding version that modern spirituality often sells us, but the full spectrum, the instinctual, primal, wildly intelligent force that knows how to dismantle what is no longer alive and birth something entirely new. And at the end, I'm going to give you something to actually work with. So some journal prompts, some reflection questions, real things to sit with after this episode ends. So stay with me for the whole thing because the ending really matters. So I want to start here to help us understand that what we are living through is part of a pattern that has been named, predicted, and understood across cultures for thousands of years. So ancient traditions across cultures, so Hindu, Greek, Indigenous, Tibetan, even biblical, have always understood time as cyclical, not linear. So they understood that civilizations move through seasons, that there are ages of expansion and ages of contraction, ages of light and ages of darkness, and that the transition between them is always, always a period of fire. So in the Hindu tradition, we have been living through what is called the Kali Yuga, so the dark age, an era of disconnection, moral decay, and forgetting. And many scholars and wisdom keepers who have studied these cycles are pointing to this exact window right now, the next 15 to 20 years, as the concentrated period of transition out of it. So not a comfortable transition, a cleansing one. The Greeks called a similar concept cleansing by fire. So the idea that the cosmos periodically burn away what is false so that what is real can survive and be reborn. And then there is historians who wrote the book The Fourth Turning, a pattern that traced through Anglo-American history in roughly 80 to 100 year cycles. So four phases like seasons. And the fourth, the one that we are in right now, is always the crisis. So the crucible, the time when everything that was built gets stress tested. Old institutions collapse, old identities dissolve. And what emerges on the other side is something genuinely new or the same patterns repeating in new clothes. So they predicted the climax of the fourth turning with land in the 20s and different language, different traditions, same pattern. And you can look more into there's a book, The Fourth Turning, but you can also find really good summaries online as well. But yeah, the same pattern that they're all talking about is something old is ending, right? Something new is trying to be reborn. And we are now living in the space between them. And what happens, you know, when on a collective level, when civilizations are in their death and rebirth cycle, we feel it in our bodies. So the macrocosm and the microcosm are always mirrors. So if you've been feeling like everything is accelerating lately, and I'm sure many of us have, like humanity is in some kind of threshold, some kind of collective turning point, you're definitely not imagining that. A lot of people are speaking right now about what's happening through different lenses. I've done other episodes talking about this through other lenses as well. So some call it the fourth turning, others speak about the end of old cycles, the collapse of outdated systems, or a collective death and rebirth. So different language but similar pattern. So something old is breaking down and something new is trying to emerge. And this is what I think a lot of people are missing right now. They can sense that something is shifting. They can feel that they're being called forward. They know there is something more for them, whatever that is, more leadership, more service. But they're being called into more responsibility, more visibility. But what often gets overlooked is that your nervous system has to have the capacity to hold what your soul is being called into. So you can see the next version of you. You can feel it, you can even have glimpses of that future self. But if your body does not feel safe yet with that level of visibility, responsibility, love, money, success, or change, you will feel yourself getting pulled back again and again. And that is why this work matters so much right now. So somatic work is becoming so popular because people are realizing that healing is not just cognitive, it's not just mindset, it's not just knowing better. So many people understand their patterns intellectually, but they still feel stuck in them. They still overthink, avoid self-sabotage, or feel overwhelmed by the very things they desire most. And the reason is because the body has not caught up yet. So often the things that we want most were once unsafe or unavailable to us. So love, being seen, success, rest, receiving, money, leadership. If those things were not safe in our earlier life, your nervous system can still perceive them as threatening now, even if consciously you know that's what you want. This is also where attachment comes in. So attachment is not separate from the nervous system. It shapes how we relate to love, intimacy, visibility, support, money, trust, and leadership. It shapes whether we move toward life or brace against it. So when we talk about stepping into the next level, this is not just about ambition. It's about regulation, it's about capacity. It's about whether your system can actually stay in the life you say that you want. And so that's exactly why I'm super excited for this masterclass that I'm hosting on May 8th called Nervous System Mastery for Times of Change. And I'm teaching this alongside Dr. Jesse Hatson. So Jesse is a clinical psychologist with a PhD in clinical psychology with specializations in somatic psychology and neuropsychology. He's been doing this work for over 20 years, training deeply in both clinical and holistic approaches, exploring the connection between mind and body and how that impacts our capacity to heal and transform. He's a co-founder of mentalhealth.com. He is the lead therapist at Hands in Healing. He also served as the interventionist on the AE's TV show Intervention for Four Seasons. And his work really bridges modern science with ancient wisdom and somatic practices in a way that is very rare, very hard to find. He's also someone who I have worked with personally and someone I continue to work with on my own path. And that's really important to me because for those of us who feel called to lead in these times, whether as healers, practitioners, coaches, guides, or simply as people who know they are meant to hold more for their communities, this work does not end. Not because there's always something wrong with us that we need to fix, but because leadership requires ongoing expansion. It requires devotion. It requires continuing to do our own work so that we can hold more, see more clearly, and actually stay grounded in the level that we're being called into. The people who help shape what comes next are the people who are devoted to truth, to embodiment, and to continuing to expand their capacity. So inside this masterclass, Jesse is going to help you understand what is actually happening in your brain and nervous system during times of intensity, change, and expansion. I'm going to touch on the collective themes to start as well. And I'm going to take you through a full guided somatic experience as well. So you'll also be receiving the full replay. It's going to be three hours long. There's just going to be so much value packed into this program. So you'll get the first 30 minutes with me, an hour with Jesse. Then we're going to do a 30-minute QA together, followed by a one-hour somatic journey with me. If you attended the breathwork session that I did, the feedback that I got was just absolutely incredible. The experiences that so many people had. This experience that we're going to have in this masterclass is not going to be the breath work journey that I did last time. I'll probably host another one of those soon, but it's going to be equally as powerful. And it's something that you're going to be able to go back to often, as often as you need it. And, you know, with that, I'm also going to be including three meditations in a workbook that you'll receive after the workshop is over. So you'll get the replay. You'll also get three powerful meditations, activations, all on helping you feel safe in your body, helping you expand your capacity for your next level, helping you take aligned action and stepping towards the things that you desire most, and a whole integration workbook that you can work with as well. And on top of that, anyone who attends this masterclass, you will be sent out a discount code for$200 off of my uh in-service leadership program that I'm going to be launching very shortly. Stay tuned for that. But for anyone who attends this masterclass and decides that they end up wanting to take the in-service leadership program, Jesse will actually be coming into that program as a guest teacher as well. So you'll receive$200 off as a bonus as well. So so many perks to joining this masterclass. Definitely don't want to miss this. Jesse is such an incredible teacher, healer, guide, someone that you definitely want to learn from. He's been a huge part of my journey. And, you know, if you haven't seen yet the episode that I did with him on his show Lead with Heart when I was in Costa Rica, you can find that in the show notes. And you can also find information on the masterclass in the show notes as well. All right. So now I want to go a little bit deeper into the psychological layer of what is happening. So Carl Jung, I'm a huge fan of Carl Jung's work, as some of you may know already. I reference him quite a bit. But Carl Jung spent his life studying what he called individuation. So the process of becoming who you actually are, not who your family, culture, society shaped you to be, but the deeper, truer self underneath all of that. So he understood that this process requires confronting the shadow. So everything you have disowned, suppressed, hidden, or inherited unconsciously, the parts of yourself that were too much or not enough or just simply unsafe to express. So normally individuation is a slow, gradual unfolding process over decades. But Young also wrote about what happens when the collective unconscious is activated. So when something enormous is moving through civilization itself, he understood that mass historical moments of crisis, collapse, and transition accelerate the individual process. So the archetypal forces that are moving through the collective begin moving through individuals at the same time. So the inner and outer worlds mirror each other, which means that the intensity you are feeling is not just personal, it's also transpersonal. So you are not just processing your own life, you are processing something much larger moving through you. Young also believed that the people who do their inner work during times of collective crisis become what he called containers. So individuals with enough psychological capacity to hold tension without collapsing into it, to sit in the uncertainty without needing to resolve it prematurely, and to stay present in the fire without being consumed by it. And that capacity doesn't just serve them, it serves everyone around them. So the people going through the most intense dismantling right now are often the ones with the greatest capacity to hold what comes next. So if you've been going through many deaths and rebirths over the years, if you have just been going through this acceleration, accelerated change, accelerated awakening, like really this is your time to step up. This is your time, you know, to step forward. You are being called forward. If you have been experiencing that, you know, there's going to be an increase in people having divine interventions, divine experiences, spiritual awakenings in the coming years. The episodes that do the best are always the ones that are talking about, you know, what's happening kind of collectively, astrologically. People really want to know because we cling to certainty. So it's just something to be aware of, right? And even for me, at the beginning of my awakening journey, what I did was I was constantly consuming like energy updates and wanting to know what was happening next. I was wanting some sort of relief or some sort of reassurance that it was going to end soon or things were going to shift. And while I love all of that stuff, I more so look at, you know, astrology as like evolutionary. I'm not necessarily looking for like predictions or a need for certainty. But uh for a while there I was, you know, I was constantly looking for certainty. And part of this healing process is building our capacity to be with uncertainty, to be with the discomfort of not knowing what's going to happen next, without needing that reassurance, because we're here to be sovereign beings. We're here to individuate, we're here to, you know, be so connected to ourselves and so connected to our own spiritual power, our own connection to God, source, creator, divine, universe, whatever it is that you want to call it, without, you know, needing some sort of certainty to cling to or some sort of savior to come save you. You know what I mean? Like it's we really need to find that within ourselves, that sovereignty and that steadiness. And that's why, you know, this work, you know, working with your nervous system, working with your shadow, working with connecting deeply to the divine and your own spiritual devotion, your own practices are just gonna be crucial during this time, you know? They're not gonna be optional. They're not gonna be, you know, they're gonna be things that they're things that we've been so disconnected from, but they're gonna be necessities during this these upcoming years. Dan Groff spent decades studying what happens when the psyche opens, first through clinical research, then through holotropic breath work, which he developed as a way to access non-ordinary states of consciousness through breath alone. And what he discovered is that the psyche has a natural innate drive toward healing and wholeness, and that given the right conditions, it will move toward integration on its own. But the process, especially when it accelerates, can look terrifying from both the inside and the outside. So he coined the term spiritual emergency to describe what happens when the awakening process moves faster than a person's psychological structure can integrate. I've definitely experienced that. And you might recognize some of these experiences. So feeling like you're dying even though nothing is physically wrong, losing your sense of who you are, intense waves of emotion with no clear cause, feeling like your life no longer fits, but the new one hasn't arrived yet, and openings that feel overwhelming rather than, you know, just beautiful, and a sense that something is happening to you that you cannot explain and that nobody around you seems to understand. So Graf stated that what looks like psychiatric crisis is often a spiritual process that needs support, not suppression. So the goal is not to stop the opening, the goal is to create enough safety and structure that the person can move through it and come out on the other side more whole than before. And this is why exactly why somatic work becomes essential, because the body has to be able to hold that opening. You cannot think your way through a spiritual emergency. You cannot intellectualize your way into integration. You need to do the psycho-spiritual work and the nervous system work. The nervous system has to develop the capacity to stay present with the intensity, to feel without fragmenting, to open without flooding. So regulation is not the opposite of awakening. Regulation is what makes sustained awakening possible. And I'm going to talk about this on the masterclass as well as a bit of the psycho-spiritual work before uh Dr. Jesse Hansen takes us into the nervous system capacity work. Now I want to talk about something that I think is the missing lens in most of these conversations because everything we have talked about so far, the yuga cycles, the fourth turning, individuation, spiritual emergency, these are mostly masculine frameworks. They're analytical and structured, linear in their own way, even when they are talking about cycles. But what I want to offer is a feminine read on this same moment. So the feminine is so often misrepresented, especially in polarity work and modern spirituality, as soft, flowing, receptive, and gentle. And yes, those are real aspects of the feminine, but they are only a partial truth. The feminine is not just softness, it is life force itself. It is creation and destruction. It is the force that births something entirely new and the same force that will dismantle what is no longer aligned. It is instinctual, primal, and deeply intelligent. It doesn't create through control. It creates through an organic intelligence that knows how to move, respond, and reorganize life from within. And when we reduce the feminine to something that is only calm, open, and yielding, we strip it of its power. To truly embody the feminine is not just to soften, it is to become available to the full spectrum of life moving through you. So think of every archetype across every tradition of the dark feminine, the one who burns what is false so that what is real can live. She is not the part of us to heal away or soften into submission. She is the force of sacred destruction and she is moving right now. The systems that are collapsing, extractive, disconnected from life, built on suppression, those are the systems that require the feminine to stay small. The reason so many women are being cracked open so hard right now is intentional at the soul level. The feminine is rising as a genuine force of reorganization moving through the world. And when she rises, when women stop suppressing their power and start embodying it fully, we begin to see something shift, a redistribution of power, a reorientation of wealth back toward what actually sustains life. So this is not separate from, you know, doing all this deep inner work because reclaiming the full feminine in your own body means learning to trust your instincts again. It means learning that your grief is not weakness, that your rage is not a problem to manage, and that your wildness is not something to contain. The women who help shape what comes next are the ones who have reclaimed their fullness. So before I give you the reflection prompts, I want to lead leave you with three simple things to actually work with. So the first is to name what is dying. So most people right now are carrying grief that they never processed. So an identity, a relationship, a version of themselves, a belief system, a dream that isn't going to look the way that they thought it would. Grief needs language and witness to move through the body. It needs to be spoken or written or cried or shaken out. It does not move through analysis. So start there. Name what is in the process of ending. Give yourself permission to grieve it. The second is to tend to your nervous system like it is sacred infrastructure because it is sleep, stillness, time in nature, healthy food, breath, movement. These are not extras. These are the foundation of your capacity to hold what is being asked of you. You cannot expand into your next level if your system is perpetually in survival mode. The third is to find your people. So Graf was clear about this. Spiritual emergency is not meant to be navigated alone. The people who move through threshold times with their soul intact are the ones who are held, who are witnessed, who have real containers, real Relationships, real communities. So find yours or build them. And I want to close with something to sit with. So these are not questions to answer quickly, these are questions to return to. So in your journal, in stillness, in conversation with someone you trust or just with yourself, let them work on you rather than you working on them. So the first one is what in my life is currently in the process of dying? And have I given myself permission to grieve it? Reflection two is where am I feeling the pull towards something more? More visibility, more leadership, love, more aliveness? And where is my body pulling back? What does that resistance actually feel like physically in my body? Reflection three, if this intensity is purposeful, if I am being shaped by this fire rather than destroyed by it, what might I be being shaped into? Number four, where have I been managing my power rather than embodying it? Where have I been performing a gentleness that isn't really mine? Number five, who are my people for this time? Who can I actually be honest with about what I'm moving through? So sit with those, come back to them. And if something in you said yes while you were listening today, if you felt recognized somewhere in this conversation, come to the masterclass on May 20th, because this is the work that we are going to be doing together, not just intellectually, but in your body where change actually lives. So you can find the link in the show notes, and hopefully I will see you there. See you in the next episode.
